RRR Movie Review from the Salty Nerds have them marveling at how a Tollywood action movie can give Hollywood Blockbusters a run for their money, not only in terms of visuals, but in story as well! RRR stands for Rise, Roar, Revolt, and tells a fictitious story about two legendary Indian revolutionaries as they strike up a complicated and unlikely friendship while taking on the oppressive British Empire in scenes that need to be seen to be believed. Full of action, adventure, dance numbers, and heart, RRR is definitely a unique movie. Directed by S.S. Rajamouli and starring Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan Teja, and Ajay Devgn, this is the most epic movie made in all of 2022. What is your RRR Movie Review? Did you love it? Hate it? Did you think it shamed all the Hollywood action movies to come out this year? Did it make you want to snap your suspenders and dance? SEE Season 3 Episode 6 The Lowlands Review have the Salty Nerds divided as to whether his episode was awesome or whether it was the worst one of the season. Trying to get back to Pensa faster, Boba Voss and his crew decide to take a shortcut and run afoul of a tribe of blind mutant cannibals who end up costing them more time than they would have if they'd gone the long way. Tormada and Snake Queen Sybeth finally meet, and sparks fly. Mahgra and Tamacti Jun form a buddy cop squad and try to solve a murder. And the Pensan guards continue to be useless. Though this is the final season of the Jason Momoa AppleTV show, this episode seemed very much like a filler episode that distracted from the main story of the season and saw a lot of surprising character deaths that felt hollow in the grand scheme of things. But there's enough fun action in the episode to distract from the massive number of plot holes! What is your SEE Season 3 Episode 6 review? Did you love it? Hate it? Battlestar Galactica The Mini-Series review from the Salty Nerds has them talking about the 3-hour kick off to what is arguably one of the best science fiction TV series ever made. Created by Ronald D. Moore and based on the original Battlestar Galactica show from Glen A. Larson, this "reimagining" of the Battlestar Universe stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, James Calis, and Tricia Helfer. The mini series shows the events of a Cylon attack against the Twelve Colonies where humanity is all but wiped out. Only a select few on a fleet of ships survive, and it is up to the almost decommissioned crew of the last Battlestar from the Cylon Wars to protect them. Battlestar Galactica 33 review by the Salty Nerds has them looking at the premiere episode of the series and arguably, one of the show's best episodes ever. The Cylons have been relentlessly pursuing the fleet for 5 days after the events of the miniseries, jumping in exactly 33 minutes after the fleet escapes them. Nerves are frayed, exhaustion is rampant, and no one knows how the Cylons are able to catch up with them after 33 minutes on the dot. This is one of Battlestar Galctica's best episodes, and it's a heck of a way to kick off a TV series! The Salty Nerds totally geek out over this episode and have little to no salt to dump during their review. What is your Battlestar Galactica 33 review? Did you love it? Hate it? In this episode of the prequel series to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, the entire extended Targaryen clan comes together for Laena's funeral, and tensions come to a boiling point. Aegon claims Laena's dragon for his own, which puts him at odds with Rhaenyra's and Daemon's children in a fight that has permanent consequences. Then, Alicent and Rhaenyra force the court to choose sides in the aftermath of the confrontation, showing Viserys to be weak and ineffective in the growing conflict between his wife and daughter. This then forces Rhaenyra to remove her husband Laenor from the equation so that she can marry and ally herself with her uncle Daemon Targaryen in a shocking twist ending. Galaxy Quest movie review from the Salty Nerds has them never giving up and never surrendering! In what is arguably a better Star Trek movie than 90% of the Star Trek movies out there, Galaxy Quest is a hilarious and heartwarming movie about a group of washed-up TV actors who must embody their roles to help save an alien race from total annihilation. Starring an amazing cast consisting of Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and Justin Long, this ensemble cast comes together to create a truly wonderful science fiction adventure film. CHET CHET everyone! We are back at the good old House of Enlightenment for a fun little siege, all set to the dulcet tunes of Guns & Roses "Welcome To The Jungle." Sybeth is back and this time she's making all the disgruntled Witchfinders forget about the fact that she destroyed their homes and killed their families, and instead enlists them back in her service with the simple argument that "She's their queen!" Yas Queen. Yas. Then Tormada shows up at the House of Enlightenment to get his bombs and finds Boba Voss and crew there instead. Turns out, Boba and the three sighted people with him now have access to a TON of guns that they simply don't use, and Tormada is able to escape with all the bombs they originally went there to destroy. This is yet another awesomely bad episode of SEE and we can't wait to talk about it! What is your review of The House of Enlightenment? Did you love it? Hate it? The Princess Bride movie review has the Salty Nerds declaring Wuv, Twoo Wuv for this classic movie. A story about adventure, intrigue, and romance, The Princess Bride is probably one of the most quotable movies ever made. Based on William Goldman's novel and directed by Rob Reiner, the movie is about a poor farm boy who becomes a legendary pirate in order to win the hand of his true love, who also happens to be betrothed to an evil Prince who wants to kill her in order to start a war. Now, the farm boy must team up with a Spanish duelist and a giant in order to save her - all while skipping the "kissing stuff." Starring Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Robin Wright, Christopher Guest, Fred Savage, Peter Falk, and Andre the Giant, this fantastical story is considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made (at least according to the Salty Nerds). If you love this fantasy movie as much as the Nerds do, you're not going to want to miss this review. Did you love the Princess Bride? Do you find it inconceivable that anyone could hate it? Total Recall 2012 movie review is mostly the Salty Nerds talking about how many times they fell asleep while watching this extremely boring action movie. This "reimagining" of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger film from Paul Verhoeven comes to us from the creator of the Underworld franchise, Len Wiseman. Starring Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, and Bryan Cranston, Total Recall is the story of Douglas Quaid who may or may not be a secret agent that's forced to choose between his hot wife and his hot girlfriend in order to save the world from evil corporate interests, all while never going to Mars. Though this movie is visually stunning (with lots of lens flare!) and the actors are all very good looking, it's missing the charm and fun of the original film, and is the epitome of a "slacktion" film. Total Recall 1990 movie review from the Salty Nerds has them all wanting to get their ass to Mars so they can unlock ancient alien artifacts and party with three-tittied hookers. After all, they got 5 kids to feed! Based on the Philip K. Dick short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, Total Recall marks the only collaboration between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Paul Verhoeven, and it's glorious to behold. Also starring a very sexy Sharon Stone, as well as Michael Ironside and Ronny Cox, Total Recall is the tale of a lowly construction worker named Quaid whose visit to the memory implant facility of Recall goes horribly wrong, and now his wife is trying to kill him and he has to go to Mars to uncover the mystery surrounding his true identity. But are the harrowing events really happening, or are they all part of a psychotic delusion brought upon by a botched Recall procedure? What is your Total Recall 1990 movie review? Did you love it? Buck Rogers In The 25th Century Space Vampire Review has the Salty Nerds marveling over how goofy the Vorvon villain is, and wondering why the show just didn't call him the "Unibrowpire"? In this episode, Buck and Wilma are on their way to a sexy vacation getaway, but when they stop at a space station to drop off Twiki, they find themselves quarantined and fighting an army of "mostly dead" zombies and a weird looking Space Vampire that has the hots for Wilma. Buck must use all of his 20th century "Big Buck Energy" to stop this formidable alien before he can run away with Buck's woman. At the midway point of season 1, The House Of The Dragon seems to be losing some of its steam with a number of subplots and events that don't seem to be properly set up and actually confusing to the audience if they haven't read the books. In this episode, King Viserys goes to Seastone to make nice with House Velaryon and to wed Rhaenyra to Laenor Velaryon. Ser Criston Cole gets SIMPy for Rhaenyra, Daemon ends his marriage and starts eyeing Laena Velaryon, Lyonel Strong is the new Hand of the King and his son Larys starts acting like Littlefinger, and Alicent embraces her role as Queen and starts making some shrewd moves now that her father has left the Red Keep. Dredd Movie Review from the Salty Nerds has them geeking out over this "day in the life of Judge Dredd" movie from Karl Urban and Alex Garland. Nowhere near as campy as Stallone's 1995 take on the Judge Dredd character, this film sees Urban's Dredd team up with Olivia Thirlby as a mutant rookie Judge as they take on a crime lord named Ma-Ma, played by Cersei Lannister herself, Lena Headey. This film has lots of slow motion and tons of action! But best yet, Karl Urban is the only lead actor to ever have the commitment to never remove his helmet a single time in a movie! Judge Dredd Movie Review from the Salty Nerds have them marveling at just how many times Sylvester Stallone and Armand Assante can shout "LAW" at each other and make "Justice" puns. Judge Dredd from 1995 is a guilty pleasure movie that sees Sylvester Stallone re-team with his Demolition Man co-star Rob Schneider and Diane Lane to uncover a very convoluted conspiracy plot, all while NOT wearing Judge Dredd's iconic helmet. The Nerds are back to talk about episode 4 of the HBO original series (and Game of Thrones prequel) The House Of The Dragon! In this episode, Daemon returns to King's Landing to make out with his niece, Rhaenyra puts the moves on Ser Criston Cole, Otto Hightower spreads some unseemly rumors, and Viserys has lots more wounds than when we last saw him! Oh, and there are a TON of pornographic tapestries hanging all over the Red Keep. The show is also taking some departures from the source material, but no one except Jude seems to care all that much. However, MattVader is getting a little tired of the show's slow pace. Will things pick up soon? Who knows! We know nothing. What do you think of episode 4 of the House of the Dragon? Did you like it? Big Trouble In Little China movie review from the Salty Nerds have them perplexed at this awesome cult classic movie from John Carpenter and Kurt Russell. Kurt Russell plays the legendary Jack Burton who teams up with Dennis Dun and Victor Wong to fight the cursed Chinese sorcerer David Lo Pan (played by James Hong ) all the while romancing Kim Cattrall and dropping epic one-liners. Big Trouble In Little China is ahead of its time in many ways, and part of its box office failure was because the studio didn't know how to market such an off-the-wall movie. But John Carpenter has such a subversive take on typical 1908s action movies that this film is quite brilliant once you "get the joke." What is your Big Trouble In Little China movie review? The Salty Nerds have a bone to pick with the second episode of season 3 of AppleTV's Jason Momoa series SEE. Actually, several bones as the show slides back into season 1 levels of glorious ridiculousness. Kofun is still being a terrible father, Haniwa is being annoying, Boba Voss smells like poop, Maghra is the worst Queen ever, and Sybeth is back on the loose for no apparent reason. Oh, and the guards in Pensa are the absolute worst. But you know what? The show is still a ton of fun and the Nerds can't wait to talk about it! What are you thinking of Season 3 of SEE so far? The Golden Child movie review from the Salty Nerds has them talking about this 1986 classic from Eddie Murphy which went from being a serious mystical thriller to what essentially amounts to a supernatural version of Beverly Hills Cop. This fantasy comedy film is a nostalgic favorite of the Salty Nerds and follows Eddie Murphy as private investigator Chandler Jarrell as he teams up with expert martial artist Kee Nang to search for the kidnapped Golden Child. Along the way, Eddie Murphy deals with strange mystical creatures, biker gangs, and the evil Sardo Numspa, played by Tywin Lannister himself - Charles Dance. Also, you can't have an 80s movie that deals with Asians without Victor Wong and James Hong! But the real question is, why is this movie (which was originally going to star Mel Gibson) so hated by Eddie Murphy that he swore never to do a sequel to it? Tremors 3 Back To Perfection movie review from the Salty Nerds has them liking this Tremors sequel a little better than the second film, but not by much. By this point in the Tremors franchise, Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward are nowhere to be found, so Michael Gross steps up to the plate as his character Burt Gummer is now the main character of the series. We return to the small town of Perfection Nevada where many of the original actors from the first Tremors film reprise their roles, albeit 11 years later. This time, the Graboids return, but evolve yet AGAIN into a new form that is better than the Shriekers from the second movie, but with an even more ridiculous name. What is your Tremors 3 review? Tremors 2 Aftershocks movie review from the Salty Nerds has them feeling like they were denied vital, need-to-know information, because this sequel falls far short of the classic original Tremors. Fred Ward and Michael Gross are back for the second installment of the Tremors franchise, but Kevin Bacon is nowhere to be found. This time, the Graboids evolve into a less scary version called Shriekers, and now both the comedy and the tension is extremely lacking. But Burt Gummer is back, and he's the highlight of the film, so at least there's that. What is your Tremors 2 review? Did you like it? Hate it? Did it deserve to be a direct to video sequel? Farscape Season 1 Episode 22 review from the Salty Nerd Podcast has them talking about Family Ties and the MASSIVE cliffhanger season 1 of this delightful sci-fi show ended on. However, many of the Salty Nerds are not liking Farscape, because it's too weird or too muppety! Jim Henson still has a lot of influence on this TV series, and some people don't think that's a good thing! In this episode, Rygel betrays the crew of Moya and tries to sell them out. But due to Scorpius looking to execute Rygel, the alien teams up with former big bad Craise and the two defect to Moya just in time to help John Crichton out with his plan to blow up a moon and create all types of trouble for Scorpius and the Peacekeepers. What is your Farscape Season 1 Episode 22 review? Did you like Family Ties? Hate it? Do you think the Salty Nerds are wrong about this show? Tremors movie review from the Salty Nerds has them debating on whether or not this movie is an underrated classic, or simply a fun monster movie that's gained cult status over the years. In Tremors (1990), Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, and Michael Gross (whose character Burt Gummer goes on to be the main character of the franchise) fight a bunch of underground graboids that have a hunger for human flesh and really, really good ears. This movie started the Tremors franchise and is directed by Ron Underwood with a screenplay from Short Circuit scribes S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock. It's an unusual monster movie that has just the right amount of campy terror and tension. Joining the Salty Nerds for their review is none other than Stargate Atlantis actor David Hewlett, who's also a big fan of this movie! What other horror movie podcast gets this kind of celebrity guest? Ha ha ha. What is your Tremors 1990 movie review? Did you love it? Hate it? Are you stocked up on heavy ammo? Hey all you Game of Thrones fans, the Salty Nerds do another expert analysis and breakdown of the GOT prequel series, House of the Dragon on HBO Max! Episode 2 is called "The Rogue Prince" and it seems Prince Daemon is up to some shenanigans while his brother, King Viserys Targaryen, is contemplating marrying a 12 year old. (Yikes!) Carrie 1976 movie review from the Salty Nerds have them discussing Brian de Palma's horror movie masterpiece that successfully adapted Stephen King's first novel into a feminist allegory for smashing the patriarchy. Sissy Spacek stars as the titular Carrie White. She's bad at volleyball, doesn't know what a period is, and can movie stuff with her mind. Nancy Allen is busy hating her while she isn't getting slapped around by John Travolta, and Amy Irving is trying to hook Carrie up with her boyfriend William Katt when she isn't getting hit on by Steven Spielberg. Forget the telekinesis, probably the scariest thing in this whole movie is Piper Laurie as Carrie's crazy religious mother. Well, that and all the 70s bush on display. Firestarter movie review from the Salty Nerds has them marveling at just how much Netflix's Stranger Things ripped this movie off. We all know that the Duffer Brothers were heavily inspired by the work of Stephen King when they were making Stranger Things, but they essentially ripped off the Firestarter 1984 movie starring Drew Barrymore as a child gifted with powerful psychic abilities that is relentlessly pursued by a secretive government agency who wants to either control her or kill her. Also starring David Keith, Martin Sheen, and George C. Scott as a ponytailed Native American (no joke), this is one of Stephen King's best known horror movies and set the stage for Drew Barrymore to star in E.T. Silver Bullet (1985) movie review from the Salty Nerds has them laughing at how terrible the werewolf is in this Stephen King werewolf movie! Most people probably don't know that Stephen King has a werewolf movie out there, let alone one starring Gary Busey, but it's true! Corey Haim plays a wheelchair-bound toddler who tries to warn his small Maine town about a rampaging werewolf, all while zooming around in souped-up wheelchairs dubbed "The Silver Bullet." Based on the Stephen King Novella "The Cycle Of The Werewolf" this movie is one of the early 1980s Stephen King horror movies that started the long string of bad King adaptations. The screenplay for this movie was written by Stephen King himself, and all the typical King tropes are there. But not even that is enough to save this movie. What is your Silver Bullet movie review? The Salty Nerds take a look at Farscape season 1 episode 20, The Hidden Memory, and are totally freaked out by what the muppet did to Chiana in this episode. When last we left Ben Browder's John Crichton, he was being mercilessly tortured by new bad guy Scorpius. But now that Aeryn is feeling better, Claudia Black is all about rescuing her favorite Earthing! Aided by Gilina, the crew of Moya go down to rescue Crichton while their spaceship gives birth. Hey everyone - Game Of Thrones is back! Well, sort of. House of the Dragon is a prequel to good ol' Game of Thrones, focusing on House Targaryen at the height of their power and the civil war within their house that almost destroyed them and lead to the extinction of the Dragons. Episode 1 feels like vintage Game of Thrones and knows it has a lot to make up for after the abysmal and disappointing final season of GOT. But it actually seems up to the task with increased production value and input from series creator (and expert author) George R.R. Martin. We're introduced to a lot of important players in this episode, but it seems to be setting the stage for some epic medieval fantasy political maneuvering to come. The Salty Nerds are joined by author C.C. Ekeke to breakdown this episode like a proper Game of Thrones podcast would. Join us every Monday as we drop our take on the latest House of the Dragon episode from HBOMax. (Yes, we're flirting with becoming a House of the Dragon podcast for sure!) The Salty Nerds are joined by actor David Hewlett to react to the latest trailer for Netflix's horror anthology Cabinet of Curiosities - a show produced by Guillermo del Toro where eight directors bring their nightmarish visions to the screen as they take ownership of each episode to scare the living bajeejus out of you. The Jason X Movie Review from the Salty Nerds has them marveling at the sheer camp of the tenth entry into the Friday The 13th franchise. So if you want to smoke some weed and have premarital sex, this is the movie for you! Sort of. Jason Voorhees has escaped from the Crystal Lake Research Facility and gets cryogenically frozen, only to be awoken 500 years later. After killing a bunch of horny space teenagers and space marines, Jason gets beat up by an "uploaded" android. But a bunch of nano-ants give him an upgrade to UBER JASON and now he's pretty much unstoppable. This is the final time Kane Hodder plays Jason Voorhees, and this movie also stars Lexa Doig, Peter Mensah, and even has a cameo from filmmaker David Cronenberg. If you thought horror couldn't get any sillier, wait until you see Jason X - one scene in particular is laugh-out-loud funny. Though we're not a horror movie podcast, we do like to review horror films, ESPECIALLY the campy ones! Come check out our review of Friday The 13th part 10 (or Jason X, because New Line couldn't legally use the title Friday the 13th) and laugh along with us! What is your Jason X review? Day Shift review from the Salty Nerds has them marveling over the fact that there's a Netflix Original movie that they actually like for once. Day Shift, starring Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg, is the type of movie that would spawn if Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blade, and John Wick were all in a wild orgy and had a baby together. Jamie Foxx is a vampire hunter who needs some quick cash, so he's teamed up with his "union rep" Dave Franco to find some vampires. This horror action comedy film is a lot of fun and has some incredible action scenes and great mythology to it. It's also a very unevenly paced movie, but it's so entertaining you can easily overlook many of its shortcomings. What is your Netflix Day Shift movie review? Did you love it? Hate it? Leprechaun 4 In Space movie review from the Salty Nerds have them debating as to whether this movie starring Warwick Davis as a fun sized homicidal maniac rampaging through a space ship and wielding lightsabers and bursting through people's peens is secretly brilliant comedy, or one of the worst films ever made. What started as a joke to spoof the Apollo 13 movie became an actual movie called Leprechaun 4: In Space. What started as a genuine attempt at a horror film starring Jennifer Aniston in the early 90s has morphed into what can only be described as "pure schlock" as space marines and an evil German scientist cyborg try to fight the evil Leprechaun before he can marry a space princess and become king of the universe. If you like horror movies, and horror movie podcasts, then you may not like this review because there's nothing particularly scary about this movie. In fact, it can be argued the whole film is a bad joke - one that's been played on the audience. But fear not! The Salty Nerds are here to review this horror film and give you their honest opinion on it. (Which admittedly is not very good.) Check out the movie that started the Buffy craze - Buffy The Vampire Slayer! The original vision of everyone's favorite cheerleader-turned-vampire-hunter from Joss Whedon, starring Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens, and Rutger Hauer. This movie was originally more of a serious horror movie, but thanks to studio interference it became more of a comedy, much to the chagrin of Joss Whedon, who eventually ended up walking off set in protest. Vampires are on the loose in Los Angeles, and only the prophesized "Slayer" can stop them. Unfortunately, the latest slayer, Buffy, hasn't been trained by her mentor Merrick yet, despite being in high school. Now that the evil vampire master Lothos is in town, Buffy must rely on her natural skills and keen fashion sense to take on the demons of the night! (And look good while doing it.) This is a very different version of Buffy that we got from the beloved Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV show, but it still has its own charm to it. Whether you're a horror film fan, a comedy film fan, or just someone who likes vampires, this is a movie for you! Farscape Season 1 Episode 7 review from the Salty Nerds has them watching PK Tech Girl - the episode where Crichton gets some side-action from a cute Peacekeeper and makes Aeryn jealous, all the while trying to survive frog-suit space pirates who breathe fire! This Farscape review and retrospective has the crew of Moya stumbling upon a derelict Peacekeeper warship in the uncharted territories, and wouldn't you know it? Commander Crais has already been by and left a team of technicians behind to salvage it. Unfortunately, all but one of them were killed by vicious space pirates called the Sheyang, who have returned to finish the salvage and want really badly to destroy Moya and her crew! Ben Browder and Claudia Black are joined by Alyssa-Jane Cook as Gilina in this episode, which is mostly just set-up for other episodes the Nerds plan to watch from later in Farscape season 1. It's not the best episode of Farscape, but it is still an enjoyable one. Did you know that Jim Carrey's first starring role was as a high school virgin who is slowly being turned into a Vampire by evil (but sexy) Lauren Hutton? It's True! The Salty Nerds take a look at the horror movie comedy film mash-up Once Bitten. Originally written as a starring vehicle for Elvira, this is a film about a vampire Countess who needs to drink the blood of a virgin every year in order to preserve her eternal beauty. But finding a virgin in the 80s is more difficult than it seems! But she thinks her problems are solved when she bumps into hapless (and hard up) high schooler Mark Kendall, who is willing to cheat on his long-time girlfriend Robin in order to lose his V-card. Little does he know he's unwillingly trading it in for a different kind of V-Card - as in VAMPIRE! Young Jim Carrey shines in this horror comedy about high school angst. And Los Angeles in the 80s was crazy, wasn't it? If you haven't yet seen Once Bitten, then you're in for a treat as the Salty Nerds break it down in their movie review podcast. Prey movie review from the Salty Nerds has them talking about this prequel to the Predator movies from writer/director Dan Trachtenberg. The Prey Movie has taken a lot of criticism in the build up to its release on HULU for being "woke" and replacing the beefy Arnold Schwarzenegger with the petit Amber Midthunder as the main character who faces off with the Feral Predator. Is it really that bad? Or did the movie fall into the "get woke go broke" trap? Technically a Predator 5, Prey is said to be an origin story of the Predator in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, we definitely get to see a Predator story that is very different from the last outing we got with Shane Black's The Predator. But is re-hashing the same Predator movie formula a winning strategy? Whether you are a fan of action movie podcasts or horror movie podcasts, we got you covered with the Salty Nerd Podcast! The Nerds dive deep into this movie to let you know if it's worth watching or not. What is your Prey 2022 review? Did you love it? Hate it? Are you ready to put on some warpaint? What do you get when you try to cross classic horror movies with screwball comedy with a cast of all-stars from the 1980s? If you said Transylvania 6-5000, you'd be right! This is a movie about two tabloid journalists who go to Transylvania to investigate stories of Frankenstein's monster running loose, and once there the intrepid duo cross paths with vampires, wolfmen, mad scientists, and Michael Richards. Transylvania 6-5000 stars Jeff Goldblum, Carol Kane, Ed Begley Jr., Jeffrey Jones, John Byner, and the first appearances of Geena Davis and Michael Richards. It's a fun, light-hearted horror comedy romp written and directed by Rudy De Luca on behalf of the Dow Chemical Company who financed the picture in order to launder money out of Yugoslavia. (No joke.) So if you like campy horror and screwball comedy, then this is the movie for you! The Salty Nerd Podcast is the only movie review podcast that would tackle this oddball film, for sure. Apocalypto movie review from the Salty Nerds has them becoming history buffs in order to understand this "foreign film" by Mel Gibson. Apocalypto is the story of Jaguar Paw and his quest to save his family after a brutal Mayan warband invades his village and captures him and his friends to be taken back to their city to be sold off as slaves and given up for human sacrifice. Jaguar Paw escapes and is then pursued by the ruthless band of Mayan Warriors and must use his wits and experience in the jungle to get back to his pregnant wife before she drowns in the massive ground cave that he hid her in. This Apocalypto analysis has the Salty Nerds split because some think this movie is brilliant and the Apocalypto reaction from others is that it's too brutal and not fun to watch at all. (And some of the Salty Nerds just hate reading subtitles!) As with all Mel Gibson films, the historical accuracy of this epic South America tale of rainforest survival is in question, but Mel has never let little things like "history" get in the way of a good story! What is your Apocalypto review? Did you love it? Hate it? Did it make you squirm? This is one movie review podcast you won't want to miss!
