After appearing at the ‘All About Women' conference in Sydney, Em has found even more perimenopause experts, you can expect all of them to make an appearance on our upcoming peri pod series ‘Rage Against the Vagine'. Last week, Em totally forgot to mention she's got a brand new book coming out in October. ‘Blood, Sweat and Glitter' will cover off everything that's happened since her ‘Rage and Rainbows' tour wrapped in 2019 and feature stuff Em hasn't talked about before, graphic novel aspects, lists, medical info and drawings by Em's daughter Odie too. Then there's Em and Michael's track by track review of Lady Gaga's new album ‘Mayhem' for you to enjoy, which also magically leads us into Michael's feels around the last episode of ‘The Newsreader' finally being broadcast on free to air TV. We also managed to slide in a quick review of Michael's night at Billie Eilish and Em forced Michael to ask her about the F1 situation as it stands, so expect much confusion from Michael and an F1 update delivered at Em's normal speed too. Then in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, we talk about your latest Spicy Sunday Hot Takes like Grease 2 is better than the original, how to stack a taco and Em even argues why Frozen 2 is better than the original. You can sign up and listen for $1.73 a week, or watch it for $2.30 a week at emsolation.supercast.com and don't forget you can watch this episode in full maximalist colour on our YouTube channel at youtube.com/@emsolationpodcast Learn more about your ad choices. Hi Guys, welcome back to TV Reload. Thank you for clicking or downloading on today’s episode with Michelle Lim Davidson. One of the brilliant actors from The newsreader. Which returns this week on the ABC for its final series. The Newsreader is brilliant and if you haven’t seen the first two series I am kinda jealous because I would love to go back and have that feeling of watching it for the first time. It is so groundbreaking and well made that in fact its one of the best Australian scripted drama’s of this generation. The Newsreader follows a few characters POV of the newsroom during the 80’s and Michelle’s character Noelene is one of the three main characters that we have followed through on this trilogy. Her character is Korean Australian and there has been so much to unpack with her character and even more so in series three. Michell will unpack the ways in which her character is similar to her own personality and how Michelle was able to contribute this season more than just as an actress. We chat about sweet spot of The Newsreader and why this series has highlighted how far we have come and how far we haven’t with some of the biggest issues in this country I find out about how recreating the Logies had Kylie Minogue and Daryl Somers sending in their approval to use old footage. You will get everything from why this series will end this year, what Michelle thinks her trajectory with her on screen husband played by Steven Peacock and what contribution to her character had her asking for rewrites to make sure the conversation about race in this country was handled correctly. There is so much to talk about with so many inside revelations. So sit back and relax as we unpack the wonderful world of The Newsreader. Which is back on Sunday the 2nd on the ABC and iview Australia. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
On the show today, Anna Torv and Michael Lucas from ‘The Newsreader’ chat to Clairsy and Lisa about what to expect on Season 3, beginning 8:30pm this Sunday on ABC.We get our tastebuds salivating by asking what your current food obsession is.In the Shaw Report, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal recreate that 'When Harry Met Sally' scene…Star of the cheeky Fringe show ‘Briefs’, Mark Winmill tells us about the wild things that happen during the performance, and about his travels across Australia to get to Perth. This episode is utter chaos, Michael joins us from Queensland, so of course he stuffed up the time difference, then we had a bajillion and 7 technical issues. You'll hear what Michael was doing instead of joining us, and experience the full chaos of Em and Michael trying to hear each other and right their technical wrongs together. Once all that's sorted, it is onto the nominees for the Razzies for worst movies of the year, from ‘Madame Web' and' Joker: Folie a Deux', all the way through to' Borderland' and ‘Megalopolis'. There's a quick visit into the Oscar noms and much chat around why ‘Wicked' deserves more accolades than the 13 nominations that ‘Emilia Perez' has secured. We also get a full update on Elio's birthday celebrations, plus Elio's first day at primary school is next week, so Em is naturally deep in her feels about what the future holds for him. Finally, Lady Gaga dropped her teaser for a brand new album called ‘Mayhem' so naturally we need chats around that too. Then in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em grills Michael about what is happening in the final season of his critically acclaimed TV series ‘The Newsreader'. We also delve into the latest in the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni lawsuits, plus Em reviews the must see Oscar nominated animated film ‘Wild Robot' and what is up with Madonna's whiteboard insta share? An internally rearranged Michael joins us, having survived a bout of runny egg based food poisoning he's risen from near death to help Em work through a hair extensions update, the hair witches have been in touch and the sensory nightmare is being addressed. We get a full review of Katy Perry's AFL Grand Final appearance, with added commentary from Michael's mum, plus there's a side quest into Pesto the adorable giant baby penguin the internet is obsessing over. Then we need to get the lowdown on all the high fives and other blokey bloke things that Em witnessed whilst attending an AFL Lunch the day before the Grand Final. We teased it last week, but never got around to talking about Michael's TV series ‘The Newsreader' being up for an International Emmy, and what exactly that means for him, and if Em will be joining him in New York in November. Finally Em and Michael have both seen ‘Will & Harper', a new Netflix doco following comedian Will Ferrell, who embarks on a cross-country road trip with his close friend of 30 years after they come out as a trans woman. Joining them to review the doco and offer their own insight is friend and director of Em's ‘Outgrown' show, trans comedian Anna Piper Scott. We begin this episode reminding you to vote for Michael's nominees from ‘The Newsreader' in the Logie Awards and of course Em's bestie Julia Morris, who's NEVER won a Logie! Then we need to talk about someone announcing their upcoming Arena Spectacular, it's Em, she's taking over MC (Mariah Carey) Arena, Saturday December 7, to deliver ‘Outgrown the Arena Spectacular', with side quests on Chappell Roan and Kesha thrown in. Speaking of Arenas, we follow that with the news that Celine clapped back at Donald Trump with a sassy statement after he used ‘My Heart Will Go On' at one of his rallies. We also need to delve into the bizarre revelation that US Presidential candidate RFK Jr dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park back in 2014, because why wouldn't he do something like that? After that we're keen to talk about the trainwreck of a PR campaign happening for the new movie based on the beloved #BookTok book ‘It Ends With Us'. There's a LOT to unpack involving the movie's star Blake Lively, costar and director Justin Baldoni and even Blake's husband Ryan Reynolds and his ‘Deadpool & Wolverine' co-star Hugh Jackman. Finally we need to talk through some of our fave moments from the Closing Ceremony in Paris as well as doing an ‘Okay, Stop!' on that very unique appearance from Tom Cruise. Hollow shell of a human incoming, it's been a LOT recently so Em is coming in like Joe Biden at a Presidential debate, which we will discuss within this episode. To begin though we need to acknowledge Michael's Logie noms for ‘The Newsreader' and the blandness of the Gold Logie nominees again this year, aside from Julia Morris and Tony Armstrong of course. Then we need to talk through the utter bin fire that was the first Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. You can expect more predictions from the Magical Unicorn of Death, as well as a side-quest on Putin and Kim Jong-un's limo ride and airport wave offs. There's also some chat about why Michael and Adrian shouldn't have children of their own. We also need to discuss Em's family losing Scott's Dad last week, Odie having her Year 12 formal, Marchella heading overseas this weekend, Em being sick and the push to sell Outgrown tour tickets, it's all a little bit overwhelming. Then there's Michael's hip surgery being moved, the extensive medical scrub down before surgery and a deep dive into why Em is all about pyjamas and why Michael needs to get his sleeping attire sorted too. Then in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael have both seen the ‘I Am Celine Dion' documentary and they're ready to give their feedback and a full review. Welcome to Michael's petty era, he's come in raging over an article asserting that Season 3 of his hit TV series ‘The Newsreader. Rumours that the series is wrapping up because his cast don't wanna do it anymore are false, and the truth is he never planned to go beyond a third season ever. Cut to Michael calling the article's creators to have it adjusted (something Em was never able to do when fake articles about her came out) and much discussion of who cares, who's show gets better numbers, and assurances we won't be cutting anything Michael says out (which we didn't). Then it's onto the biggest mistake in Em's life, jumping in on a Craft Market stall with comedian Lizzy Hoo to sell a bunch of clothes and shoes. Em went in hard, we're talking swings tags, paper bags, classy coat hangers, clothing racks, full outfit washes and Em's mum Jenni stepping in to help organise and run the market stall too. It is a LOT and Em will never be doing it again. Finally there's the shocking news that Jennifer Lopez emailed Em to tell her that she was cancelling her ‘This Is Me…Now Live' tour, plus there's the latest attempts to prove her and Ben Affleck are still very much in love and all is fine in Bennifer land to check in on too. Plus there's much gushing when they both discuss the new doco based on the creator of The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, The Labyrinth and so much more, ‘Jim Henson Idea Man'. In our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael ‘Okay, Stop!' the viral TikTok of comedian Georgia Godworth vox popping the one and only Baz Luhrmann, whilst having zero idea she was chatting to someone so famous. We open with the news Kate Middleton is having treatment for cancer and how Em was right in her assumptions that we shouldn't be speculating about BBL's and the like. Especially when a woman is undergoing a medical treatment that we don't have all the information on. Sending WTF thoughts to the Palace PR team and speculating on Kate's marriage to Prince William though, still falls into an open season situation. Then we pivot into an update on Em and Vincie's Friday inside the Mercedes AMG tent at the F1 Grand Prix, with a side quest into female F1 drivers and why Vincie doesn't trust optometrists anymore. Em and her daughters went to a family friend's 21st birthday where they witnessed some truly awful DJ work, which inspired Michael to reveal he's wrapped on Season 3 of ‘The Newsreader' and spent the weekend DJ-ing the wrap up party too. Then it's back to Sunday at the F1, with a side of airport lounge downgrades thrown in. Finally, Beyoncé is due to drop her country music album this weekend, which side quests on Em's rogue Instagram posts, Emsolators commentating on Beyoncé's singing ability, and more sing-ger, vocalist, entertainers and singers chat too. Plus, in our Sealed Section, on our premium service Emsolation Extra, Em and Michael talk about Rebel Wilson naming Sasha Baron Cohen as the celeb trying to stop her publishing her memoir, something that REALLY connected with Em. This week Michael Lucas is away filming his final scenes for Season 3 of his multi-award winning TV series ‘The Newsreader', so stepping in to replace him is Em's eldest daughter Marchella. Together they'll talk through their fave moments from the 2024 Oscar Awards, covering everything from Jimmy Kimmel's monologue to John Cena's guttering, Ryan Gosling's ‘I'm Just Ken' performance, plus Jonathan Glazer's speech, Emma Stone, Ariana Grande, Al Pacino, Mark Ruffalo, Lily Gladstone and a bunch of other stuff too. Then it's onto Em's night out at a local Drag Show with her daughters, where Odie managed to bring all the chaos on stage, while the audience around them offered up some very unique chaos of their own. Finally we need to revisit Em's emotional support musical ‘Wicked'. On the weekend Em and Chella attended the show AGAIN and they have a bunch of very specific feedback for the audience, as well as mad props for the amazing cast. We also get a taster of today's Sealed Section from our premium service Emsolation Extra. Em and Chella talk through all the planning and the eventual last minute cancelling of Chella's decision to attend Pitch. Why did Chella decide to attend an electronic music festival in the bush, when she doesn't like electronic music, or festivals, or camping, or dust?
