There are calls for Wellington Water's boss to resign as the embattled organisation faces the prospect of legal action. The fallout from two scathing reports into the water provider is coming thick and fast after they found the region's ratepayers are being charged three times as much for water repairs as other areas of the country. Drivers wanting to travel faster on State Highways around the country will soon get their wish. 38 sections of the roading network will be reversed back to their previous higher speed limits by NZTA over the next five months. It brings an end to speed reductions brought in under the last Labour Government. There are concerns that faster speeds could lead to more crashes on our roads, but the government insists the changes are safe. Nick James reports.

Lower Hutt's Mayor says the Wellington region isn't out of the woods and still may face acute water shortages this Summer. Nick James reports.

New Zealand's most senior citizens took to the streets today to rally against cuts to aged care staffing. The aged care residents made their presence felt outside the Takina Convention Centre as the association representing retirement villages gathered inside.The residents are worried about how they'll cope if there aren't enough staff to provide the level of care they say they'll need, Nick James reports.

It's been a wet and muddy day for lots of Wellington residents as significant rainfall has cause flooding and slips in the region. In Kapiti, the heavy downpours have caused the flooding of properties on streets near Otaihanga Domain just north of Paraparaumu. Upper Hutt's Mayor has lashed out at Wellington Water after an independent report revealed it took four months to tell the region's three councils about a 51 million dollar budgetting error. The report by consultants Roy Barker and Kevin Jenkins identified multiple failures including a lack of strategic leadership at a senior level, Nick James reports.
