Sometimes YOU guys reach out to me with requests to cover stories and I always write them down, but don't always get the chance to fit them in to an episode. So today I'm taking 5 of the creepy and strange ones you've asked about and bringing them to you right here. Thanks by the way for the suggestions and I hope you enjoy it….here are 5 True Crime Cases You Requested.
Read OnlineThen one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, “Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.” And he said, “Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.” Luke 11:45–46This scholar of the law had been listening to Jesus firmly rebuke the Pharisees. As he listened, his own conscience was pricked, and he challenged our Lord. What does Jesus do? He quickly and firmly rebukes the scholar of the law, pointing out that the scholar uses the law to impose heavy burdens on people. Jesus did not back down in this rebuke of love. Instead, He directed it to the very place that His rebuke was bearing fruit: in the conscience of this scholar of the law. This experience of the scholar of the law teaches us two important lessons. First, we learn from him the importance of paying attention to our conscience when it is “pricked.” Second, it teaches us that when this happens, it is very easy to become defensive. What is it that pricks your own conscience? Think back over the past month and reflect upon anything that you became defensive about. Did something someone said bother you? If so, pay attention to this. Sometimes we are bothered for reasons other than our own sin. But oftentimes, what actually bothers us is that we come face-to-face with some sin with which we struggle, and we do not want to admit it. What if this scholar of the law would have listened to Jesus and, instead of being offended, became grateful for Jesus' words? What if he would have humbly looked at his own life and realized that he was also guilty of the very things that Jesus was condemning the Pharisees for? If he would have done that, he would have been put in a position to sincerely examine his actions and begin a process of change. But this is hard to do.Reflect, today, upon anything that has recently offended you. Be honest and admit that it is often the case that when God presents you with your sin through some means such as the loving rebuke of another, you must work diligently to overcome any pride. And when you feel defensive, you must immediately see that as an indication that there is something in your life that you need to change. A pricked conscience is a gift from God. Rejoice when that happens, rather than being offended, and you will discover one of the best ways by which you can grow in holiness of life by becoming free of the very sin our Lord is presenting to you. My challenging Lord, You are constantly speaking to me in various ways. Sometimes You are gentle, and at other times You lovingly rebuke me. Please help me to see my sin. As I do, I pray that I will not become defensive or dismissive, rationalizing my erroneous actions. May I learn to rejoice in all that You say to me, especially when You speak Your rebukes of love. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Caryn Elaine Johnson, was born in Manhattan in 1955. A Trekkie since childhood, she would eventually go on to a recurring (if oft uncredited) role on the successor series to that very show... Working an unusual, character based standup in the vein of Carol Burnett or Tracy Ullman, it was none other than Steven Spielberg who pulled her from handling hecklers to marquee lights with his The Color Purple, setting her on the road to a lengthy career in film, where she headlined a trio of interesting action comedies before making a name in such populist fare as Ghost, Soapdish, Boys on the Side, Girl Interrupted, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Made in America and Sister Act...and more interesting if seldom discussed efforts like Eddie, The Associate and what remains the definitive adaptation of Stephen King's sprawling postapocalyptic parable, The Stand. Since taking the lead chair on the popular daytime sociopolitical chat show The View a full decade and a half back, she's begun to further pursue a role in producing documentaries relating to black figures in history and entertainment. Bad Dog Bakery business owner Ellie Winn is one of the nicest humans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! She's one of life's radiators and a total gem! Ellie is so caring and empathetic towards everyone she meets and would never want to admit that she didn't always have the energy to give to people. We open up the conversation of how giving can be hard and draining, despite caring so deeply. “When the well is empty, where do you go?”Sometimes YOU need to take a break and YOU need to share but that can be hard, but when you keep it all inside, it's almost always detrimental to our own wellbeing. Ellie generously opens up about her own mental health and wellbeing journey, which includes some chat about post-natal depression. We talk frankly about the shame of admitting you need help and Ellie is super honest about her journey into ‘new motherhood' and her feelings of shame, a subject that gets too little airtime! As Ellie says, “honesty allows for more honesty” and sometimes talking about the not so rosy parts of life can be refreshing and make us feel less alone……so on brand for this podcast!TW: Post-natal depression/depression in general, overwhelm and new motherhood. Please listen when you feel you can. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

If you didn't have a voice, would you still praise God with your hands, feet, arms & body language? In today's episode of showing receipts, Associate Pastor T.J. Tyus breaks down the necessity to praise and follow God, along with reading and doing his word. Despite where we are currently in life, he calls us to be a faithful an obedient servant. Pastor T.J. Takes us through scriptural text from James and the life of Job to exemplify the importance of following and being in order with God. 3:15 - Are you in a position to praise? Is your mind wired to praise him no matter what happens in your life? 7:00 - Sometimes You get what you pay for, and not what you pray for. This brings about the concept of reaping what you sow. Which can be nothing if no work has been put in. Faith without works are dead. Grace is a gift from God, but we can't depend upon that every time. At some point we must take accountability. 8:59 - Where's your proof that you're ready? Obedience is the price that must be paid. Can you show “receipts” for the claims you're making? 11:15 - Luke 11:28 states “Blessed are those that hear the word of God an obey it.” We can't hear the word of God if we aren't in position to hear the word. 16:30 - “It's not so much about what comes from you, as it is what comes from your obedience to him.” Producing is not what fully makes you obedient to him. Being obedient isn't always found in tangible results. His word says well done faithful servant, not productive servants. 18:20 - God will test you based off of what you said to him. A trial will surely come your way for the “receipts” of your words. Job's life is a perfect example of that. His faith was surely in God to the fullest but was still tested despite his profound obedience. Faith is a requisite to pass the test. 20:40 - James 1:22-25 states we should not listen to the word, but partake in it. There are blessings from the Lord by hearing and doing his word. Failure to do so allows deceptions to enter the door working to keep us stagnant. We must be steadfast on staying in order with him. 26:37 - Without faith it's impossible to please God, because nobody obeys someone they don't trust. Do you trust God? 30:15 - Is your faith complete? Do you have the trust, obedience, and steadfast of learning and doing the word in your Arsenal?
Sometimes You just have to draw the line and say NO or NOT NOW and not feel guilty about your response. In this episode we will give you tips and resources on how to set those healthy boundaries for yourself. I know it can be extremely hard when you have always been the “go to” for everyone but remember NO is an answer and it really doesn't require an explanation….if you choose to give one that's COMPLEMENTARY!! Sometimes YOU have to just speak YOUR goals into existence. In order to make YOUR dreams come true, YOU have to speak and believe they can actually happen. In this episode, @NinosCorner recounts how he got a recent encouraging and motivational message concerning his first book "Can U Love Me: A Memoir...A Tribute." The message came from one of his favorite artist, MAC (formerly of No Limit Records). The beauty in this message is that MAC's songs are mentioned in my book. He expressed to me that he read the book and thought it was brilliant. For a self-proclaimed "No Limit Soldier" like myself, that's all I needed to validate the message presented throughout my memoir. This week on the Brit Lashae Speaks Podcast, we are going to be talking about “What to do in your waiting season?” A season where you are waiting for God’s answer, where you are waiting for your next step. The season that makes you uncomfortable and tests your faith, your patience, and your endurance. It is a season where you try your hardest to be still and know that He is God. Sometimes You feel like you are in the right direction of things and the wait is about to be over and then there are other times where you feel like this season is the longest season of your life. Points discussed in this episode:Use Habakkuk 2:3 as your reminder when you get impatient in your waiting seasonPractice gratitudeSharpen up your skills on what you are waiting onThe scriptures that I reference in this week’s episode are: Habakkuk 2:3Support the podcast and give a gift! p.s. In This Week’s Episode…..Power We've all experienced moments of meltdown and overwhelm. The question is, how do we navigate our way through these times? In today's episode, Danielle and Ani share their roadmaps via stories and personal experiences that are certain to lift and help you through those difficult moments. As a bonus, be sure to keep an eye out for their special in-studio guest! Point #1: What Can You Do Right Now? When you’re feeling a sense of overwhelm, sometimes it takes someone outside of yourself to help calm you down and to remind you to take a deep breath, take a step back, slow down, look at everything you have to do, and then ask yourself the question, “What is due FIRST? What’s most important?” Several years ag when Garrett & Danielle had moved to Arizona with their little family, Danielle found herself in a situation where paying bills was hit and miss. She asked herself the question, “What can I do RIGHT NOW?” She had no customers on the books, no clients, and was literally starting from scratch. “I did have a whole book of business back in Utah, so for a year, I flew to Utah once a month, worked three 12-hour days, and made as much in three days as I could in a month in Arizona.” QUESTION Taking a step back from your situation, what is one thing you can do right now to move you towards what is you are seeking and wanting? Point #2: Dream a Little Dream Danielle is a visual person and, as such, will often dream when she’s feeling stressed out about something. She had a recurring dream where her family was on a ship in the pouring rain. She could see the light at the end of the tunnel and paddled vigorously to reach it, but every time she was nearly there, a massive wave of water pushed her back. After a year, Danielle finally got over the anxiety she was experiencing. She had stockpiled some cash, built momentum, and it was at that point Danielle lit a fire under Garrett when she told him how much she was making, which she had previously kept hidden from him. This was a turning point in their lives. QUESTION Do your dreams seem to reflect what is happening in your life? Point #3: Momentum Danielle: When you think you’ve made it and you slow down to rest, you almost end up self-sabotaging. If you ever start having a lot of success and build momentum, do not self-sabotage! “Once you’ve hit a certain growth point, figure out where your next point is and create a plan to get to that new point. “If you don’t keep up with what you’ve done,” adds Ani, “you’re going to lose everything you have.” QUESTION What steps can you begin taking today to keep the momentum you’re currently experiencing? Point #4: Sometimes You’re Gonna Cry Ani recently took on a new project and for the first week and a half felt overwhelmed and was doubting her ability to pull it off. She told herself, “Ok, you have ONE MINUTE to cry!” That quickly evolved into working through the tears. An artist who was having a meltdown reached out to Ani recently for some help. Ani said to her, “Ok, set a timer. You have FIVE MINUTES to cry. However much you want to cry, do it in those five minutes and then fucking move on!” QUESTION When was a moment you pushed through something with tears running down your cheeks? What lesson did you learn about yourself? Point #5: It’s All About the Reps Although Danielle has viewed herself as an introvert lacking the skills of a speaker and great communicator, she is very passionate and intuitive. She has always thought of herself as confident and one who is comfortable in her own skin, and so it bothered her that she wasn’t able to communicate or get on stage and speak, which is one of the things she always found attractive about her husband, Garrett. “One of my goals over the past ten years was to become a better educator, a better communicator, and a better speaker, so I continually forced myself to do things I was uncomfortable with.” Today, Danielle is doing podcasts, teaching & speaking in front of large audiences, and shares videos on many social media platforms. Her secret to becoming a new human being? “Putting in the reps of things I’m uncomfortable with.” QUESTION What growth have you experienced due to reps on your part? Quote of the Week: “Sometimes, you have to have those hard conversations, and those hard looks inside of your life, take a breath, and then ask yourself, “Where do I start TODAY?” Don’t wait until January; begin today moving toward your goals.” —Danielle K White “You have to see yourself as that person and ask, “Ok, if that’s what she looks like, and if that’s what she can accomplish, what do I have to do to become her? What do I have to do to be the person who has accomplished these things?” –Anianne Rivera
„It is the soul which speaks through the eyes“ The initial idea of THIS WE ARE | DAS SIND WIR was born after several years of meditation and merging into the HOLY SPIRIT. It is guided through Archangel Asrael. After a longer period of rest and creativity, I recognized, more by chance, the multitude of portraits in my photo library. This took place at the beginning of 2019 and after a short period of brooding over this, the concept was born. Contemplating these photos you may feel transferred to a hall of mirrors – always different, always new – this is also how I encounter myself when taking these photographs and through the digital raw editing. A new moment, a new picture – a new human being. Unique. Complete. Alive. You and I, we are all directly connected. This connection is so fundamental: it is the basis of our existence: embedded in the creation and perceiving ourselves through ourselves in “the other”. I invite you to take a moment. Click any one of the many pictures and a slideshow will open. Let the moment and the picture become a part of you. Whatever you feel: it is your ‘self’ – through the other. Love and compassion work through you. At the moment I am showing almost 100 portraits. As we are currently approximately 7.7 bn. People on this planet, and as we don’t seem to be decreasing any time soon, I will certainly be busy for a while. _______________ THE PRAYER: LORD, YOU give light in our darkness, YOU speak through us in love and peace. LORD, we speak to YOU and YOU send it back a thousand times. YOU love us as we are. Face to face. YOU ease our need and our pain; and YOU live in our hearts. Bit by bit, we come together in YOUR arms. YOU give us confidence. YOU give us love. YOU give us hope. YOU give us curiosity. And from beginning to the end, we are YOUR children. Full of purity and innocence, vulnerability and beauty. We are free. Just like YOU. Sometimes YOU come as saviour in our need. And sometimes also as YOU. YOU live in our times, like thousands of years ago. We are like an open window to YOU. This WE are and there YOU are. When someones poor choice effects you, it's hard not to react in an outburst, or hold it against them. People carry hate for people their entire lives. Maybe you are in the right, but how does keeping that chip on your shoulder help you? A time comes where you have to move on, not to take that anger with you anymore. It's not good to bottle emotions, its healthy to release them. Sometimes You get so boiled up that you forget that you must forgive to move forward. Carrying that emotional burden on your shoulders is heavy, takes up space and can even manifest itself physically. Forgive and set all your baggage down. "Bitterness is a poison you swallow, hoping your enemy will die." Let it out, then let it go. What is your healthy outlet? Exercise? Music? There are many outlets that help you get rid of the negative emotions that are hurting you. You cant change the past but you can change the way you see the past. Where there is pain there is power. What have you learned from it? You have to let it go if you want to move forward. Other resources: The Difference between Happy and Unhappy People When to let go and when to Fight On! Feel like you need a change of scenery? Tired of your current role? Annoyed by your boss? Maybe it’s time to consider a job change. For some, the idea of changing jobs is super exciting but for most, it’s pretty overwhelming. And, it’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of work to get the new job and it’s a lot of work to settle into a new job. On this episode, we talk about what you may want to consider if you’re thinking of changing jobs and how to feel okay about whatever decision you ultimately come to. Key Takeaways: While there is no optimal length of time to stay in a job, it’s a good idea to do a self-check and evaluate your job situation every year. The reasons why you stay in a job are likely to change over time. And, that’s okay. Sometimes YOU are the only obstacle in the way of changing jobs. Action triggers things. Sometimes it takes a move to make a bigger move. Tara references the podcast, “Show Your Work,” with Duana and Lainey. We listen to this podcast…a lot! They make a great point about how it is sometimes necessary to make a move to level up. Making a move can shift how people see you and how you see yourself.
