Scripture for Meditation John 10 NASB 10 “Truly, truly I say to you, the one who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. 2 But the one who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts all his own sheep outside, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. NIV “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. Meditation on Scripture: You, spending these moments with the Lord, are responding to his voice. Of the many ways we respond to his voice through academic study, prayer, meditation, service, and a thousand other ways, we live out this scripture. We respond to His voice as His sheep. Jesus shows us the way by which we can walk. He shows us how to follow His word. His spirit lifts, inspires, and transforms us. Jesus declares himself to be our shepard and we respond to His voice, as his sheep. He goes ahead of us and we follow. We go in and out. He knows each one of us and what we need. He knows His sheep. He knows you. He calls you by name. Jesus has taken the right to break whatever boundaries prevent you from progress toward Him and His love. Let whatever hardship you have in life, whatevers stressors have their perfect work in your to draw you to the arms of the loving shepherd. There is no place we can run where he cannot find us and will not pursue, eventually to catch us in loving arms and hold us in a warm embrace. Regardless of what lost wilderness you roam in, know the love of your shepard never fail.s In moments like this when we focus on His love and presence we can hear that voice in our lives, and we can see that lived out in us, His sheep. Additionally in these moments we can discern God's will for us in other moments of our lives. What is God calling us to? How does God's unwavering love lift you to greater heights? What is God calling you to? How will this moment of peace and love with God pour out into the rest of your life? Ponder that for a moment now. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Learn three prayers for when you need to lament, stop fixing your child's problems, and release your expectations for how your adult child's life should unfold. A Prayer of Lament When You Need to Be Honest with God Scripture: “Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God.” Psalm 86:1-2 Prayer: Oh, God, it hurts deeply to see my child struggle. I'm hurting and I'm overcome with worry, but I know I need to run to you. So here I am, pouring it all out. I need your help. My child needs your help. Hear me and answer me because I love you and you love me. I know you are my faithful God. Amen. A Prayer for Releasing the Need to Fix Your Child. Scripture:“You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.” Corinthians 6:12 Prayer: Dear God, you know I want to rush in and make everything better for my child. I could, but if I did, it would thwart their growth. So give me strength to understand what my child is responsible for and what I'm responsible for. I do not want to get in the way of their maturing. Amen A Prayer for Relinquishing Control of Outcomes. Scripture: “You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.”- Proverbs 19:21 Prayer: God, you know I struggle with expectations about how my child's life should go. Help me surrender my plans for your purposes. You, alone, know what's best for my adult child. I relinquish my desire to impact any outcomes. I know your plans and purposes are best. I accept them wholeheartedly. Amen. What does it mean to have faith? And what does faithfulness look like over a lifetime? And, is it okay to ask or desire to see signs or proofs of God? We'll cover all of that in today's episode, the second part of our two part bible study on Gideon, found in Judges 6-8. Is it okay to ask God for signs, as Gideon did? God knows we long for signs, and has answered that in the person of Jesus. It says in Scripture: You will be given a sign. This will be a sign among you. The virgin will give birth to a baby, and we will call him Jesus. The sign that we have that God can overcome and that God is the one who orders our steps, orders our days, and controls life and death is in Jesus. Gideon's story is a powerful reminder of the human nature of faith, which can falter and require reassurance. God's responses to Gideon's requests for signs teach us about His patience and willingness to strengthen our faith, even when we doubt. When we remember what God has done for us in the past, it can strengthen our faith in him in the present and for the future. Have you noticed that the number three seems to be a big deal for the apostle Paul in Ephesians? For example, in the first fourteen verses we read of the three-fold role our Triune God has in our salvation: God the Father chose us before the foundation of the world (1:3-6), Jesus the Son made our redemption possible (vv. 7-12), and the Holy Spirit sealed us for the Day of redemption (vv. 12-13). We see it in the way Paul prays for the Ephesian Church: I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe (vv. 18-19a). I thought one way to help you see this was to reimagine Pauls series of threes as his answer to a series of questions by Mr. Worldly-Wiseman, a character from John Bunyans Pilgrims Progress, a book first published in 1678 and is currently listed as the fifth most translated book in the world. If you are not aware of who John Bunyan was, all you know for now is that he wrote Pilgrims Progress while in prison for twelve years for preaching the gospel, his book is an allegory on the Christian life. In Bunyans book, the protagonist, Christian Pilgrim leaves his home, The City of Destruction, to embark on a pilgrimage for the salvation of his soul and to find the Celestial City where he can live for all eternity in the company of God. While on his journey he is helped and guided by other characters such as Evangelist, who is known as a preacher of the Holy Word and is eager to help those who are seriously concerned about the state of their souls. Christian also meets Interpreter who shows Christian many wonders and shows Christian many exhortations on the way he should go. There are others who join Christian on his journey such as Pliant who quits the pilgrimage after facing his first obstacle, and Hopeful, a refugee from Vanity Fair, who proves to be a faithful companion to Christian all the way to the Celestial City. There are others who Christian encounters that try to turn him away from the narrow way to the Celestial City who go by the names of Giant Despair, Apollyon, Flatterer, and Mr. Worldly Wiseman. Bunyan described Mr. Worldly-Wiseman, in this way: not an ancient relic of the past. He is everywhere today, disguising his heresy and error by proclaiming the gospel of contentment and peace achieved by self-satisfaction and works. If he mentions Christ, it is not as the Savior who took our place, but as a good example of an exemplary life. Do we need a good example to rescue us, or do we need a Savior? Imagine what a conversation might look like if Mr. Worldly Wiseman visited the Apostle Paul in prison during the same time the epistle to the Ephesians was written: Mr. Worldly-Wiseman: Paul, tell me how you can be sure that you are Christian since you are now in prison? Paul: Regardless of my circumstance, I am a Christian for these three reasons: I was chosen by God before the foundation of the world (1:4-6), I am redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ for sins I am guilty of (vv. 7-12), and I am sealed by the Holy Spirit for a full and future redemption (vv. 13-14). Mr. Worldly-Wiseman: Why spend your years in prison and suffer when you can be free so long as you dont keep blabbing about Jesus in places people dont want to hear it? You know, you can be a Christian and be compliant too! Paul: How can I be quiet about something so important? Jesus commands me not to be quite about my relationship with Him and how he saved me even though I was, Dead to God (2:1), A slave to sin (vv. 2-3a), and A child of the wrath of God because of the sins I committed against Him (v. 3). What this means, Mr. Worldly Wiseman, is that I was once like you: A friend of the world (2:2a), A child of the devil (v. 2b), and A slave to my own flesh (v. 3). Mr. Worldly-Wiseman: Im not sure if I should feel insulted or pity for you because you believe such rubbish. So, tell me, what is so different between you and me? Paul: Jesus is the difference between you and me! Jesus lived a perfect sinless life that I could never live; He died a death I deserved on a cross for sins I committed, and He validated all of that by rising from death on the third day. What is true of me is true of every real Christian, and this is why I have chosen to follow Him: I was dead in my sins, but now I am alive in Christ (1:7; 2:4) My nature was bound by my sins, but now I have been raised with Christ (v. 6a) I stood condemned by a holy God, but now I am seated with Christ and am covered by His righteousness (v. 6b). Mr. Worldly-Wiseman: Come on Paul! I am a religious person and I admire Jesus as a great example to aspire to. We need to do our best and let God do the rest, but you have taken your Christianity too seriously! Paul: No one can do enough for the kind of salvation you and I need! The only thing God required of me was a faith that was only possible because of His grace. It is a grace that I could not, nor ever will earn, by anything I could ever do! I am the recipient of, A rich mercy we did deserve (v. 4a). A great love God was not obligated to give (v. 4b). An all-sufficient grace no one could earn (v. 5) All of which is only possible in and through Jesus Christ alone! So, now we come to Ephesians 2:8-10 and are immediately faced with another set of three words and why it is that God saved us in the first place. If you were asked the same questions or interrogated in the way I had Mr. Worldly-Wiseman interrogate Paul, how would you answer? My two points are in the form of two questions that this passage answers for us in a way that should be deeply discouraging or encouraging to you. How Does God Save? Now, considering all that we have studied together, we find ourselves at the threshold of Ephesians 2:8-9. What I want to do with you this morning is to walk you through these verses in light of the context of Ephesians 1:3-2:7. I want us to look at these verses together against the backdrop of my warning at the beginning of this sermon series which was this: Beware of imposing your view and thoughts of what God should be like, upon the text of His holy Word. You must allow the authority of Gods Word to impose its teaching upon your heart for the purpose of shaping it in a way that the eyes of your heart are able to see God more clearly. Now, before I go any further, let me say first and foremost that I want you to make your own conclusion with these verses based on the evidence of what you see in Ephesians and the rest of the Bible. I am not concerned if you end up seeing things differently than the way I see them so long as you do not impose what you think the Bible should say upon what it actually says. My only concern before you this morning is that I preach and teach the Bible in such a manner that I am faithful to the Word of God so when I stand before Him, I will do so knowing that I was faithful with what He has entrusted to me. So, here we go! Buckle up because it is going to be a fun ride. Lets start with verses 8-9, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast. The three words I want you to see in this verse are grace, saved (i.e. salvation), and faith. To answer the question, How does God save? we need figure out what is the gift that He gives so that no one may boast. Is grace the gift given by God, or is salvation the gift given by God, or is a persons faith the gift given by God? Whatever the gift is, it eliminates any notion on our part that we did something to get it, otherwise Paul would never have felt the need to include verse 9, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. If I am right about what I see in Ephesians 2:8-9, it will open up verse 10 in a way that will encourage you and blow your mind at the same time. So, what have we seen in Ephesians so far leading up to these verses? Permit me to put what Paul lists concerning our salvation in sequential order from spiritual death to life: We were spiritually dead in our offenses and sins (2:1) We know we were spiritually dead because we were slaves to our sin (2:2a) Because we were slaves to our sin against God, we were by nature children of His wrath (2:3). But God, whose mercy is rich, love is great, and grace is sufficient, did three things (vv. 2:4-5): He made us alive with Christ (2:5b). He raised us up with Christ (2:6a). He seated us with Christ (2:6b). As a Christian, you can know that your salvation involved three acts of God Before the foundation of the earth, God chose to adopt you as His child through Jesus (1:4-6). In order to adopt you as His child, God redeemed you through the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of all your wrongdoings (1:7-12). Because God will not lose any who He has redeemed, He has sealed you with His Holy Spirit until your redemption and salvation is complete (1:13-14). So, in light of all that Paul wrote concerning what God has done for the Christian, what does he mean by Ephesians 2:8-9? Let me offer up some fair and legitimate questions: If I am spiritually dead, how can a spiritually dead person respond to God in faith? If I am able to respond to God in faith in order to receive salvation through Jesus, then is my faith exempt from the kinds of works Paul is talking about in verse 9? If faith is a gift God imparts on me on some level, then how is my trust in Jesus for the salvation of my soul legitimate? Does your brain hurt from trying to process these sorts of questions? I have wrestled over these verses for nearly 30 years and have understood them in three different ways that I think may help give you some perspective. In my early years, I was convinced that the gift of God was a salvation that could only be received by faith. Sometime after I started reading guys like Jonathan Edwards and St. Augustine, I leaned towards thinking that it was faith that was the gift of God. To be honest, what makes all of this even more confusing is the Greek allows the person interpreting these verses to make either one of these conclusions. Here is where I sit now, and I believe that how I see it fits best with everything Paul has written leading up to these verses, and it fits with the rest of the Bible. So, what is the gift of God? It is His Grace, our faith, and our salvation in that order! The this is Gods grace, our faith, and our salvation. Think about what grace is for a moment. Biblical grace is Gods unmerited favor; it is favor given to someone who does not deserve it. Do you remember what I said in the second sermon I preached in this series on Ephesians 1:4-6? I told you that at the very least, when it comes to God, what we read in these verses leads to the conclusion that God moved first. We see the very same thing here in Ephesians 2:8! At the very least, it is the sheer grace of almighty God that I had reached a point in my life on July 18, 1991, when all that I heard about Jesus made sense and I surrendered my life to Jesus and was genuinely and categorically saved from the wrath of God and forgiven all my sins! Every step and experience leading up to that moment was also the demonstration of a God who pursued me, found me, and overcame my sin because His mercy was rich, His love was great, and His grace sufficient to do what a 16-year-old teenage boy could not do. God made me alive with Christ, God raised me up with Christ, and God seated me with Christ on that summers day on July 18, 1991, but He did not believe for me; I had to believe to be saved. He did the same thing with you Christian, but He did not believe for you! But my believing in Christ for the salvation of my soul, and your believing in Him for the salvation of your soul is not only a testament of Gods grace, but the proof that miracles happen. For What Purpose Does God Save? So, why did He do it? Why did he save you? Why did He choose you, redeem you, seal you, and made you, who were once dead, the recipient of the, boundless riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus (2:7)? After all, what Jonathan Edwards said concerning what we bring to our salvation is the resounding testimony of all of Scripture: You contribute nothing to your salvation except the sin that made it necessary. God didnt have to do it! God was not morally obligated to do it! But God did it; He saved you and redeemed you for the forgiveness of all your sin according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon you (1:7). But why? The answer is found in Ephesians 2:10, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. The first word in verse 10 is the word For, which is telling us something. What it is telling us is that considering Ephesians 2:1-9, the following is true! You who were dead in your sins, walked according to the course of this world, lived in the lusts of your flesh, indulged the desires of the flesh and of the mind as a child of the wrath of God (vv. 1-3), God made you alive in Christ, for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that you would walk in those good works. This is exactly why God choose you, Christian, before the foundation of the world; listen to Ephesians 1:4 again: He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. What this means, and this is so important to see with the eyes of your heart: We were not saved to coast until we enter into the presence of God in heaven but were saved so that God could reveal His presence through us because of His resurrection power to change us! It is absolute nonsense to think and believe that you can encounter Jesus on the level Paul describes in Ephesians and remain unchanged! It is like saying that you can remain the same after you walk in front of a bus traveling 65 MPH; the force of the bus will change you permanently. Listen carefully, the God who spoke 300 billion suns into existence is the same God who makes alive the spiritually dead through the power of the Gospel of a resurrected Christ! How is it that a person can remain unchanged by a power greater than 300 billion suns? I will tell you; it is because that person has never truly encountered Christ, whose mercy is richer, love is greater, and grace more sufficient than all of our sins and the sins of 8.1 billion people combined! What we read in Ephesians 2:8-10 is that in light of the resurrection power of God through the redeeming work of Jesus the Son, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit who seals us, it is the grace of God that leads to faith in God, for our salvation by God, for the purpose of a life of good works that glorifies God. The work that God is doing in your life is ongoing. I feel that it is fitting to close with something Sinclair Ferguson wrote concerning these verses: Heaven may be the final showroom; but here on earth God is already showing what he can do.. The church triumphant is an art gallery where God displays reflections of his glory. It is a portrait gallery in which the family likeness is seen in countless different individuals who together display his infinite glory. The church visible, here, and now, is a workshop. The Divine Artist is still painting his likeness on the canvas of our lives, the Divine Potter still has the clay in his hands. The time for final exhibition has not yet come. But one day it will. Then all that God has done in us in secret, invisible to the naked eye, will become visible for all to see. What a day that will be![1] [1] Sinclair B. Ferguson, Lets Study Ephesians (Carlisle, PA: Banner of Truth Trust; 2021), p. 53.
Have you noticed that the number three seems to be a big deal for the apostle Paul in Ephesians? 53.
Do we sometimes wonder why we're here? Why did we choose a life with Christ as our Shepherd rather than what often looks like greener pastures elsewhere? The answers lie in the revelation of the Father in His Word, as shown to us by His Son, and as confirmed by His Holy Spirit in our hearts. Welcome back to "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." I'm Matthew Adams, here to guide you through the fiery trials of faith. Today, we delve deep into the heart of spiritual contradiction and what it means for us as God's warriors.Scripture:"You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver." - PSALM 66:10In Psalm 66, we encounter a vivid portrayal of divine contradiction. The psalmist begins and ends in praise, a testament to God's mighty deeds. Yet, sandwiched in between is a tale of oppression and captivity - a stark contrast to the Almighty's goodness and promises. This apparent discord poses a critical question: Why does God, after rescuing us, allow us to face trials and tribulations? My Reasons To Believe is a publication fueled by its readers' support. We're committed to serving you. Think about stepping up to Faith Partner. For a mere $5 a month, you can play a crucial role in keeping this ministry's lights on. Stay blessed.Focus Points:* The Purpose of Divine Testing:In the furnace of affliction, God tests our faith. This isn't to weaken us but to strengthen us, much like silver refined in fire. God's trials are not punishments; they're preparations. They're designed to deepen our trust in Him, ensuring that our faith is not just a fair-weather friend but a steadfast anchor.* Faith Beyond Sight:Living by faith, not by sight, is a call to trust God's plan, even when it contradicts our understanding. It's about seeing beyond the immediate and believing in the eternal. This faith isn't blind; it's visionary. It looks at adversity and sees opportunity - a chance to grow closer to God and understand His heart.* The Triumph of Trust:When we choose to believe God's voice over the cacophony of life's contradictions, we align ourselves with His will. This alignment isn't passive; it's an active, bold declaration that God's promises are greater than any earthly circumstance. In this trust, we don't just survive the trials; we thrive, revealing God's glory through our perseverance. Conclusion:The journey of faith is not a straight path; it's a winding road with its share of ups and downs. Embracing this journey means accepting that God's ways are higher than ours, and His plans are always for our good, even when they don't seem that way.Call to Action:This week, reflect on a moment in your life when God's plan seemed contradictory. How did that moment strengthen your faith? Let this reflection deepen your trust in God's sovereign plan.Question of the Day:"When has a difficult situation in your life turned out to be a blessing in disguise?"Thank you for joining me on "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." I'm Matthew Adams, encouraging you to keep walking the path of faith, even when it takes unexpected turns. Remember, in every trial, there's a hidden treasure of growth and understanding. Hello there, Matthew Adams here, embarking on a spiritual journey during this Advent season. As we prepare our hearts for Christmas, it's a time not just of anticipation but of deep reflection and listening. In the hustle and bustle of our lives, hearing God's voice might seem like a task for the mystics, but it's available to all of us, even in the midst of our daily grind.Scripture:You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.(Isaiah 40:9-11 NIV)As spiritual warriors, we're called to be vigilant and attentive. Advent is the perfect season to tune into God's frequency, to listen for His voice amidst the noise of the world. It's about finding that still, small voice that guides, comforts, and empowers us.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Learning to distinguish His voice from the cacophony of our lives is crucial. It often requires us to be still, to pause, and to listen intentionally.* Responding to the Call: When we hear God's voice, it's not just for our benefit. Like the heralds in Isaiah, we're called to action – to spread good news, to comfort, to be agents of His love. This Advent, let's ask ourselves how we can be messengers of hope in our communities.* Resting in His Presence: In the hustle of preparations, it's vital to remember that Advent is also a time of spiritual rest and renewal. Just as a shepherd leads his flock to green pastures, God invites us to find rest in His presence, to be renewed and strengthened for the journey ahead.ConclusionAs we journey through Advent, let's strive to be attentive to God's voice. It's not always easy, but it's always rewarding. We speak in the Bible of repentance, and the world thinks that it means to regret, to be remorseful. That's not what the Bible teaches. Prayer and repentance are almost synonymous terms. We are told to bear fruit that befits repentance. Then they say of the central character of the Scripture: “You and your disciples eat and drink with sinners.” And he replied, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Leave the righteous alone. They are so self-satisfied. They like themselves, so leave them alone. The word “sin” hasn't a thing to do with breaking any moral code. The word “sin” means to miss the mark. That's what it means. You have a goal in life and you haven't achieved it, well then, you are sinning. You may have a billion dollars, and still are hungry for another. Well then, if you don't have the other, you are sinning. You may keep all the so-called codes of the world imposed upon you by the priesthoods of the world—that would mean nothing as far as the Scriptures go. To repent is simply a radical change of attitude. That is what repentance means. For if I radically change my attitude towards life, I will then view the world and see the world from that change of attitude. And that change is a change of consciousness, and that change will be externalized in my world. Now, repentance is at once man's responsibility and a gift of God. Now, let us show you what I mean by it.
In our cacophonous world, finding a clear signal to God's voice can seem as challenging as locating a faint radio station among a sea of static. Yet, as I've discovered in my journey as a Christian podcaster, the key lies not in the clarity of the signal, but in the receptivity of our spiritual antennas. How then, do we attune ourselves to God's profound revelations?Scripture:"You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not." Hey, what's up, Warriors! This is Matthew Adams, and today we're stepping into some divine territory—Hearing God's Voice. But we're not talking about a distant God who throws commandments at us like lightning bolts. No, no, no! We're diving into how God's words resonate in the depths of our hearts, not just our behaviors. Stick with me, and let's unwrap this powerful truth!Scripture:"You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them." DEUTERONOMY 28:14Hold up! This isn't just about what you "must" or "must not" do. This is God passionately saying, "I want you close. Don't go running after any other voice." See, this isn't about a God obsessed with rules; this is about a God obsessed with YOU. With me. With us. He wants us to be so dialed into His frequency that our hearts beat in rhythm with His words. The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. It's not just about doing what God says; it's about loving why He says it. If you're just obeying God's commands to avoid lightning strikes, you're missing the point. God's commandments aren't a to-do list; they're a love letter.Point 2: The Choice We Make Every DayEvery time we choose to listen to God's voice, we're choosing a relationship over religion. Yeah, Deuteronomy gives us the blessings and the curses, but don't miss the vibe. God's saying, "I want your heart, not just your hands. I want your love, not just your lip service."Point 3: The Deeper MotiveAnd here's the kicker: When you really love God, obedience isn't a chore; it's a choice. It's not a burden; it's a blessing. You don't have to grit your teeth to follow His commands; you get to lean into His love and let that propel you into action. Conclusion:This is bigger than just following orders. This is about walking in step with the God of the universe who loves you so much that He wants to speak into your situation right here, right now. It's all about relationships. That's where the power is, and that's where the peace comes from.Call to Action:Don't just read the Bible to tick off a spiritual checkbox. Engage with it. Pray through it. Wrestle with it. Then live it out, not because you have to, but because you get to love God in a way that speaks louder than words.Prayer:Father, help me love You more deeply, listen to You more closely, and follow You more faithfully. I'm not just checking off a box; I'm seeking a deeper relationship with You. Let my heart beat in tune with Yours. Amen. So, there you have it, folks. This is Matthew Adams signing off from this podcast episode. The commands of God are not about constraining you; they're about drawing you closer to Him. So, lean in and listen. God is speaking. DEUTERONOMY 28:14Hold up! Introduction: Matthew Adams here, diving into the essence of "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." In our world, bombarded with voices, opinions, and clamor, how do we discern the singular, unwavering voice of God? When God speaks, do we treat His words with the weight they deserve? Join me on this expedition into Deuteronomy 5:32, a powerful call to the heart of every believer.Scripture: "You must be careful to obey all the commands of the LORD your God, following his instructions in every detail." DEUTERONOMY 5:32Description: It's pivotal to grasp the weight of God's voice. Unlike any other, His voice is embedded with absolute truth — a guiding beacon in our tumultuous lives. Unlike human advice, which can be shaped by bias, emotion, or fleeting knowledge, God's guidance stands immutable and perfect.Point 1: The Singular Nature of Divine Truth. God doesn't merely give suggestions. He provides us with an authoritative blueprint for life. When we hear from Him, it's not a mere option; it's the gold standard, offering clarity amidst chaos. Following His directives isn't just a religious act; it's a path to our most fulfilling existence.Point 2: The Error of Casual Listening. In the multiplicity of voices around us, there's a danger in relegating God's voice to just another soundbite. Treating His words as casual suggestions or mere options is to misjudge their power and purpose. His commands aren't burdens; they are bridges to a life of abundance.Point 3: Embracing Divine Authority with Heartfelt Obedience. Our approach to God's words should transcend mere mental assent. It's about heartfelt obedience. When we wholly internalize and act upon His words, we unlock a life of unparalleled meaning and joy. Conclusion: God's voice is more than just a divine whisper. It's the embodiment of truth, wisdom, and love. When He speaks, it's not for debate but for our deliberate action. The question isn't whether God's word holds truth, but rather if we are ready to wholly embrace and act upon it.Call to Action: This week, intentionally seek God's voice. Dive into His Word, pray fervently, and attentively listen. Challenge yourself to follow His commands not out of obligation, but out of reverence and love. Measure every voice you hear against the unwavering truth of God.Prayer: Heavenly Father, we humbly come before You, recognizing the weight and majesty of Your voice. Forgive us for the times we've placed human wisdom above Your divine truths. Renew our hearts and minds, helping us align with Your will and words with unwavering faith. May Your voice resonate louder than any other in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.Ending: Thank you for joining another episode of "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." Friends, in this clamor-filled world, let's pledge to elevate God's voice above all else. When we do, we embark on a journey filled with clarity, purpose, and divine alignment. Until our next deep dive, stay anchored in His truth. Get full access to My Reasons To Believe at myr2b.substack.com/subscribe

Matthew Adams here, bringing you into the depths of our spiritual journey. We all have an innate desire to hear God's voice, but let's be real — sometimes we're wary. What if we don't like what He says? What if His plan feels more like a burden than a blessing? Let's step into the light of Psalm 73:24 and address these uncertainties.Scripture: "You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny." PSALM 73:24A tumultuous battle wages within us — a battle between our desire to surrender and our reservations about God's will. This conflict is often underpinned by our fears and misconceptions. Will God always be challenging? Is there never a moment of sweetness in His plans? The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Point 1: Debunking the Myth of Constant Struggle. Our mind sometimes deceives us into thinking that God's voice brings only challenges. While it's true that the journey may have its ups and downs, God's ultimate goal is to lead us to a destiny brimming with glory. Sometimes, the journey is as sweet as the destination.Point 2: God's "Now" versus our "Then". We tend to postpone our glory to the afterlife, often neglecting the blessings and guidance God offers us here and now. His Kingdom isn't just a future promise; it's a present reality. Every moment spent in communion with Him brings glimpses of this glorious destiny.Point 3: The Dual Nature of God's Voice. God's voice, simultaneously gentle and authoritative, brings comfort as well as conviction. It's essential to realize that His guidance aims not only for our spiritual growth but also for our joy and fulfillment in Him.Conclusion: God's voice isn't a harbinger of ceaseless trials. It's the promise of destiny woven with moments of challenge, yes, but also with threads of glory, joy, and profound love. We need to embrace His voice fully, trusting in His everlasting goodness.Call to Action: This week, I challenge you to lean into God's voice. Allow Him to guide you, even when the path seems unfamiliar. Look for glimpses of glory in your everyday journey, knowing that each step is a purposeful move toward your divine destiny.Prayer: Lord, dispel our doubts and help us fully trust in the promise of Your voice. We want to hear You clearly, without reservations. Fill us with the assurance that You are leading us toward a destiny filled with Your glory. We surrender our fears, opening our hearts to the symphony of Your guidance. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.Thank you for being a part of "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." "Your calling is to fulfill the royal law of love as given to us in this Scripture: “You must love and value your neighbor as you love and value yourself!” For keeping this law is the noble way to live. But when you show prejudice you commit sin and you violate this royal law of love! For the one who attempts to keep all of the law of Moses but fails in just one point has become guilty of breaking the law in every respect! For the same One who tells us, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you don't commit adultery but do commit murder, you are still guilty as a law-breaker. So we must both speak and act in every respect like those who are destined to be tried by the perfect law of liberty," James 2:8-12 (TPT) In this episode, we reflect on the perfect law of liberty. But when you show prejudice you commit sin and you violate this royal law of love!" James 2:8-9 In this episode, we are challenged to identify the ways we use wrong standards of judgement against those who we would deem as "sinners" or "the others". And we are encouraged by James' teachings to show the priceless way of Jesus, which is to love and value others as we love and value ourselves. Presented on June 26, 2022 For more information please visit the Emmaus Fellowship website.

344 We Share in God's Holiness Through Discipline, A Guided Christian Meditation on 1 Peter 3:15-17 with the Recenter With Christ app I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina: Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Bible verses for Meditation: Hebrew 12:7-11 NIV 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. ESV 7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Meditation on Scripture: You have everything you need to do what you need to do. God has given you exactly what you need. Greatest of all He has helped us overcome sin. He created a plan whereby we would grow well beyond our limitations. We receive His holiness through faithfully receiving His grace. Here, that transforming power of Grace, is called discipline. If we think we will receive His grace without being changed we are missing something. Yet it is important that we learn to recognize God's discipline and be trained by it. When we learn it's lessons we are prepared to receice the peaceful fruit of righteousness. God is our Holy Father. Better than any earthly father and more loving. Sometimes images of earthly fathers can provide a metaphor for how God loves us, sometimes those examples are unhelpful. More caring and compassionate than any you know. Regardless of your personal experience spend a moment to imagine the ideal image of a loving amd caring father. Someone who cares about their children and works for their betterment. Now image god in that role. Now recognize that whatever the best image you could conjure it does not compare to what God feels for you. You are loved by a perfectly loving God. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: In what ways do you struggle with seeing people as objects at times? Final Thought: God's plan was meant to try us and to push us to rely on Him. On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (08/07/20), Hank addresses the twin evils of racism and rich-ism. According to Scripture, all human beings are made in the image of God and are designed to be conformed to His likeness. As such, racism, while it has raised its ugly head within the context of American churches, is abjectly incompatible with genuine Christianity. Historic, orthodox, biblical Christianity posits that all people, irrespective of skin color, are descendants of one human couple. Indeed, orthodox Christians have historically rejected the idea that there are multiple races and have been mocked and ridiculed as a result. An evil twin to racism is rich-ism—the predisposition to honor the rich and disfavor the poor. This is precisely why Saint James warns Christians of wanton partiality: “If there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, ‘You sit here in a good place,' and say to the poor man, ‘You stand there,' or ‘Sit here at my footstool,' have you not shown partiality among yourselves?….If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture (‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself') you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors” (see James 2:1–13).

( 1 Corinthians 1:27) Have you not heard, that “If you cause the weaker brother harm, “it would be better for [you] to have a heavy millstone hung around [your] neck, and to be drowned in the of the sea”? [Quran Chapter 17] In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. Glory to Him who journeyed His servant by night, from the Sacred Mosque, to the Farthest Mosque, whose precincts We have blessed, in order to show him of Our wonders. He is the Listener, the Beholder. 2. And We gave Moses the Scripture, and made it a guide for the Children of Israel: Take none for protector other than Me. 3. The descendants of those We carried with Noah. He was an appreciative servant. 4. And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture: You will commit evil on earth twice, and you will rise to a great height. 5. When the first of the two promises came true, We sent against you servants of Ours, possessing great might, and they ransacked your homes. It was a promise fulfilled. 6. Then We gave you back your turn against them, and supplied you with wealth and children, and made you more numerous. 7. If you work righteousness, you work righteousness for yourselves; and if you commit evil, you do so against yourselves. Then, when the second promise comes true, they will make your faces filled with sorrow, and enter the Temple as they entered it the first time, and utterly destroy all that falls into their power. 8. Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you revert, We will revert. We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers. 9. This Quran guides to what is most upright; and it gives good news to the believers who do good deeds, that they will have a great reward. 10. And those who do not believe in the Hereafter—We have prepared for them a painful punishment. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mochzamroni/support
Michelle continues her quest to discover keys to Revival in Psalm 119 reading verses 97-104 in the Passion Translation. Today, as we discover the keys of wisdom and understanding. As we look into the mirror of God’s revelation-light, we find the ability to face the hard truths and refuse to bend our morals, while at the same time loving others and sacrificing ourselves that they may be saved from the dark world around us. Blooming Inspired Podcast equipping and empowering the voices of women who live their lives Blooming Alive. Introduction Good Morning! This is Michelle Bentham, host of Blooming Inspired Podcast. Sometimes I think I should say “I’m Hostess with the Mostest” when I introduce myself as a podcast host, but alas… That is my vain attempt at being funny for the week! Seriously, we are in Psalm 119 teaching our Revival Series of messages. God has been showing us amazing things as we read through this very long, but very powerful chapter focusing our hearts on God’s Word. Last time we examined the powerful keys of faith and revelation as we read. Today we’ll be reading verses 97-104 in the Passion Translation - so take a minute, grab your Bible -- in your favorite version -- a journal and a pen before we dive in. Testimony While you do that, I’d like to share a bit of testimony. I’ve had some amazing things happening in the last few months and want to update you on some of it. As many of you know, I’ve been podcasting with Blooming Inspired Network since June 2018. Those first few months were brutal. I suffered from allergy attacks, and strange polyps on my eardrums. I mean… The allergy shots and medicine nearly put me under. In the past, I would have thrown in the towel with all that adversity. If I am really honest, I almost did. But God God reminded me, over and over again, of His faithfulness in those quiet moments last summer. He made provision and moved me in new directions. I look back and see His hand firmly on me in those days when all I could do was lay out on the couch praying for recovery. In September, I am not sure what changed other than I DECIDED to get up. I wasn’t going to let all the fatigue and malaise in my life keep me from God’s purpose. In reality, God really answered my prayer. He revived me with a sense of purpose and truth. I began podcasting again about the middle of that month. Word for the Year As the fall days led into winter, I grew excited as I did interviews and invited other women to join me in the podcasting adventure. I began to focus on 2019 and felt God say this was a year to be Released. I set my heart on that word and planned a prophetic retreat during the first month of the year. God met me in my plans and brought three women to the retreat. My coaching business was loping along with a couple of clients, and I had an opportunity to perform as a worship painter at a women’s conference in South Texas in February. My heart waited expectantly as the whisper of release continued to roll though my mind. Many times I’ve felt like I missed God, and landed off the track of His plan. Then a phone call or text message would come - an invitation to a lunch appointment with a friend, and the ball would start rolling again. By the end of February I had a clear plan for the year. Yielded The first quarter found me living Yielded. Fasting in surrender waiting on the Lord. Unleashed The second quarter should unleash me. Bound by limiting beliefs about my creative nature, and living in organized chaos making room for those beautifully spontaneous expressions. I flew through life by the seat of my pants. No plan - failing to plan - and by extension failing to accomplish much. I sensed that looming thought of floating through the recesses of my mind and wanted to squelch it - so I turned to an old favorite. A Sonic Route 44 Coca Cola, and a new favorite would deliver just the right effect - a 16 oz. Butterfinger Blast with extra Butterfinger, add Snickers. Ya’ll - it cost me $8 a pop to drown my sense of failure. And, well… It only added to it when I stepped on the scales and discovered 10 extra pounds had been added to my already rotund frame. Something needed to change. And quick… Mid-Year Reset At the beginning of May, after another long bout of Malaise from March to April - I was ready for a reset. God began to talk to me about a Mid-Year Reset and I began to sense that June is critical to the season. God wanted me to have a plan, to track my progress and make changes in my life. I researched planning systems and looked at things I’d used in the past. A Just Right Plan Nothing seemed to fit. Story of my life - if you will - always the square peg trying to shove herself in the round whole. Except… God inspired me to build my own system. Incorporating the visual thinking strategies I’d learned through my down times with a bullet journal style, I spent those days creating documents for printing on my computer and learning the system I created through May and June. God began to unlock things for me as the second quarter came to a close. I traveled to attend events throughout the month of June, adding new coaching clients to a full schedule. I’ve had more time for extended family and my husband. And I’m learning to arrive on time! Which is a bit of a lark for anyone who knows me. I mean I arrived early for church a few weeks ago and my husband said, “Wow! My wife just walked through the doors and the previous service isn’t even out yet.” That’s a wake up call! Advance As June barrelled to a close, I began to look ahead to the third quarter. Marking out my goals and plans in my new system. Managing details and dailies in the middle. When the next to last Sunday of the month, my pastor taught a message. Packed in the middle of his word to the church about “going for it” - Pastor Jeremy used the word Advance. Advance. That is my third quarter word. I felt like God was saying Go. For. It. Launch I pressed on… Relaunching the Wildflower Women group and beginning to try new things with my podcasts that I felt I did not have time to do before. And though I still struggle a bit, and find myself on the learning curve. I feel balanced and less stressed. Reflecting Since September, I’ve been regularly airing my podcasts with only an occasional replay. We celebrated one year of Blooming Inspired Podcast at the beginning of June. I’ve also added over 4,000 downloads to my podcast in the last month. That compared to the first year coming in at just over 9,000. I’ve also coached two new podcast hosts on the network and added their shows to our weekly line up. I’m adding new coaching clients to my business and starting to regain health and energy in my life again. Plus… I have a few dreams for the future I want to explore. Last Weekend Over the weekend a friend championed me and made a way for me to join The John Maxwell Team. Another bucket list item crossed off my list. There is work to do, a plan to make, but there is also opportunity and anticipation. God is doing a new thing in my life and I am grateful. God did all this almost while I wasn’t paying close attention. And, as we read through these keys to revival in Psalm 119 I find that God is showing me how over the last three years He’s brought me through these keys to discover not only His heart and plan for my life - but to find He is reviving and fulfilling dreams and passions I thought had long since passed. Don’t Give Up! I share this testimony not to pat myself on the back or boast about the favor of God on my life. Instead, I’m hoping you’ll be encouraged not to give up on your own dreams and passions. That you see if God’s glory can be revealed through simple steps of obedience in my life - what can He do in yours? Stay the course, friends. Win the race. Watch Him Work Miracles For You. Today’s Reading Now, let’s dive into today’s reading! Psalm 119 from the Passion Translation. The heading over today’s Scriptures: “I Love The Word Of God” Verses 97-98: “Oh how I love and treasure the revelation of your word; throughout the day I fill my heart with its light. By considering your commands I have an edge over my enemies, for I take seriously everything you say.” God is Fun! A few weeks ago I helped a former co-worker lead a retreat she planned for her friends. During the first session I was teaching from Scripture about prophetic words. In the midst of sharing the group heard me exclaim in a spontaneous moment of joy, “I love God! He is so much fun!!!” I hadn’t planned to say it, and forgot all about those words until the next evening. A woman on the retreat wrote me a note of encouragement that said, “You had me when you said, ‘God is fun!’ Because I’d never heard anyone say that before.” Treasures In God’s Word I’ve had many occasions since those early days of walking out my adult faith in God’s Word to exclaim how much I love God’s Word, and “mining for treasure” in the pages of Scripture. I spent hours of days upon days in 2008 writing out long blog posts featuring the Hebrew Names of God in Scripture. Digging deep and committing myself to word study, I found golden nuggets of truth again and again. I also found a passion for teaching in those wonder-filled days. Read It Fresh A few years ago I sensed God challenging me to read the Gospels as if I didn’t know anything about Jesus or the Scriptures. To set aside everything I thought I knew or had been taught and consider what I would believe if I only had the Scriptures to inform my faith. What I thought would take me a few months has taken me on a six year Journey of discovering my Savior through the Scriptures and learning to love Him in a new way. Teaching from Revelation After a few years I began a podcast sharing the insights I gathered as I read through the Gospels. Then, two years ago I launched a verse-by-verse study of the Gospels through Blooming Inspired Network based on the way God led me through my readings. Each time I teach a Bible study session, I find myself teaching from the revelation I receive as we read rather than some preconceived idea I had before I joined God at the table of His Word. It has truly changed my life and taken on such depth of meaning for me. I’m often deeply touched and overwhelmed by His goodness as we partake of the Scriptures with eyes to see Him, ears to hear Him and a heart to know Him more. He never fails to show up! And I love Him all the more as we move through His precious words. More Understanding Verse 99-100: “You have given me more understanding than those who teach me, for I’ve absorbed your eye-opening revelation. You have graced me with more insight than the old sages because I have not failed to walk in the light of your ways.” Isn't that what I was just talking about? He has given me more understanding than those who have taught me about his word for I have absorbed -- I have allowed his eye-opening revelations, the revelations of the Holy Spirit, that I get while I'm reading scripture to become a part of who I am. As I do, I find his grace and wisdom as I gain more and more insight. People tell me all the time that I walk in wisdom - I hardly believe it. Still, I choose to walk in the light of His ways, the light of that wisdom and revelation that He brings to me in scripture. The Key of Wisdom Today, I believe what we're discovering is the key of wisdom in His word. Let's read on: verses 101, “I refuse to bend my morals when Temptation was before me so that I could be obedient to your word.” Have you ever found yourself in the midst of struggle? I mean, real struggle trying to find your moral compass as you read God's Word, and realize there are adjustments that need to be made. Earlier, I told you the story about going to Sonic and getting that 44 oz. Coke and that 16 oz. ice cream to allay my feelings of failure. I will not deliver you a second time… The truth is, in 2016 some friends of mine and I went to a healing school out in California, and before we went, I had been asking God, “What do You want me to ask for?” I felt like He said I needed to ask him to be delivered of my desire for Coca-Cola. I didn't call it an addiction because I've come to the conclusion that I didn't drink that Coke because I needed it... Because I was going to detox if I didn't have it. I drink that Coke simply because I wanted it. I wanted it, now there may have been an emotional attachment quality to my issue, but I simply wanted that Coke. I asked God to deliver me of my desire for that beverage. On the way to the airport that day I had stopped to buy a large, 32 oz. Sonic Coca-Cola. Not my usual 44 oz. but 32. I swigged that sugar and caffeine through the red straw all the way to the airport. Once we arrived, we went to the Curbside Check-in at Dallas Love Field. As I'm walking up to the line, I dropped that cup of soda in the trash and we proceeded to my flight. While waiting for our plane, we bought something to eat but I didn't get a Coke. I chose to drink water instead. That whole week I didn't drink one Coke. I ordered lemonade and water. There were no detox side effects - no fatigue, headache or irritability. It was amazing! We returned home I still had not had a Coke until weeks later. When I finally did try a sip, I offered it to my husband and said, “Here, you drink this. I don’t think I want it anymore.” That’s when I remembered how I asked God to make it taste bad in my mouth, and He did! Months later, life got busy and stressful. We went out to eat one night, I tried a Coke. After all, one is not bad. I didn't really want another one, but a few weeks later I got another one. Eventually I stopped in at Sonic on my way home, and before you know it I'm back in my routine. My car runs on autopilot right into Sonic to get a Coke. After a few days of repeating the behavior, I sensed the Lord saying, “I won't deliver you with the of this a second time.” In other words: it's not going to be easy to give this up again and He is right! The Good I Ought To Do I'm in the struggle right now. You know, the apostle, James, wrote “Those who know the good they ought to do and do not do it, to them it becomes sin.” That's pretty powerful. Right? Except, we read the scripture that says “ refuse to bend my morals when temptation was before me so that I could become obedient to your word.” And I have to ask…. Do I? I’m moving back to center on this. A little bit of pleasure in something that is so toxic for me is not worth forsaking the work of God in my life. Sometimes, I just need to say, “I repent!” Verse 102, “I refuse to turn from difficult truth for you yourself have taught me to love your words.” And now, it seems I’ve come full circle. Remember when we started reading Psalm 119 a few weeks ago, I shared about a time when God first put it on my heart to read this chapter of scripture. I also shared that I quit reading it because I couldn't see myself in the words I read. That’s difficult truth to bear yourself up in… But as we began this reading in Psalm 119 I came back to it the encouragement I feel I heard from the Lord again and again and again. You aren’t supposed to find yourself in Scripture - You’re supposed to find Me. Earlier this year as I studied revival history and landed in Psalm 119, I heard the Lord say that when I read scripture I may not find myself in it because I am supposed to find Him. How many of us are reading scripture to know God? When we read to find Him, to know Him, we deepen our relationship with Him. If we aren’t careful we’ll find ourselves reading it for a list of do's and don'ts, wills and won’ts, and wander far from God. The big question I have to ask myself each time I read scripture is this: Am I looking at it and measuring myself by scripture, or by other people’s convictions about Scripture… Or am I looking reading and seeing how scripture can transform me into a Christ-like disciple? When His Truth is your truth I believe that's what this means when we look into the mirror of scripture we find our moral compass. If we won't turn away from it or ignore it, we will find the difficult truths that teach us to love His Words! Did you know difficult truth can teach you to love God's word because once you receive it it's yours? When you receive God’s word and let it transform you - His truth becomes your truth. verses 103 and 104. “How sweet your living promises are to me; sweeter than honey is your revelation-light. For your truth is the source of my understanding, not the falsehoods of those who don't know you which I despise.” Listen to that! “How sweet are your living promises to me; sweeter than honey is your revelation-light.” Can you taste of scripture and see that the Lord is good? Can you search his Truth for Revelation and Light? Can you find that truth as your source of understanding and refuse to partner with deception and falsehood... refuse to look to those who do not even know Him? Don’t Despise People - Despise what Sin Does To People I don't have to despise people to despise what falsehood, deception and not knowing God does to a person. I can despise the work of the enemy without despising people! We have to guard our hearts against turning hard toward people because of the darkness of our culture and the world around us. I have been repenting a lot lately of judgments I make against people based on my own convictions. I love God’s Word. I value life and truth. But, I have to remember - as John Bradford said, watching people from his community being taken to the scaffold for execution, “There but for the grace of God go I.” It would only be a short time later that he made that same journey for execution. Conclusion God so loved people that He sacrificed Himself to save them. What are we, as recipients of this lavish grace, willing to sacrifice of ourselves to love people the way He loves them? Leaving off until next week… I think that's where I want to leave you today. I’ll be back next Tuesday and pick up reading in psalm 119 verse 105. I want to encourage you to have a great weekend. Spend some time reading this for yourself, make some notes in a journal -- or if you're like me write it down in the margins of your Bible right where you're reading it. Allow God’s heart to minister to your heart. A Prayer For You Father God, I thank you for Your word today! I thank You for Your truth that sets us free. I ask, Lord God, that we would know this truth, let it go deep in our hearts. That this truth would reflect back to us where our morals don't agree with Your truth. I pray we would adjust our morals to Your truth, not try to bend them so that we can participate in the things that tempt us; but rather, we would be obedient to Your word. I pray that you're living promises would be sweet to us. Sweet like honey, and they would show us Your revelation-light. That your truth would always be the source -- a door standing open to us, inviting us in. It is in Jesus’ name I pray, amen. Closing Remarks That's all the time that I have for today! Not my usual 44 oz. but 32. [Quran Chapter 3] 181. Allah has heard the statement of those who said, "Allah is poor, and we are rich." We will write down what they said, and their wrongful killing of the prophets; and We will say, "Taste the torment of the burning." 182. "This is on account of what your hands have forwarded, and because Allah is not unjust towards the creatures." 183. Those who said, "Allah has made a covenant with us, that we shall not believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering to be consumed by fire." Say, "Messengers have come to you before me with proofs, and with what you asked for; so why did you assassinate them, if you are truthful?" 184. If they accuse you of lying, messengers before you were accused of lying. They came with the proofs, and the Psalms, and the Illuminating Scripture. 185. Every soul will have a taste of death, and you will receive your recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is swayed from the Fire, and admitted to Paradise, has won. The life of this world is merely enjoyment of delusion. 186. You will be tested through your possessions and your persons; and you will hear from those who received the Scripture before you, and from the idol worshipers, much abuse. But if you persevere and lead a righteous life—that indeed is a mark of great determination. 187. Allah received a pledge from those who were given the Scripture: "You shall proclaim it to the people, and not conceal it." But they disregarded it behind their backs, and exchanged it for a small price. What a miserable exchange they made. 188. Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done—do not think they can evade the punishment. They will have a painful punishment. 189. To Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. Allah has power over all things. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mochzamroni/support
Who wants to try to make heads or tails of a super complex passage of Scripture? You do? Great! We take up Romans 11:1-33 and try to figure out what in tarnation Paul is saying about the Jews, of which he was one.
Have you heard the phrase “Controlling the Narrative”? We hear about in politics. Infamous scandals. It is also a driving theme in Mark. The Gospel of Mark is this continual struggle for control over the narrative of God. (custody battle) Mark 7:1 “One day some Pharisees and teachers of religious law arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus.” “Come to intimidate Jesus”. “Come to shut up Jesus”. “Come to interrogate Jesus”. “Come to regain control over God." 5 So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him, “Why don’t your disciples follow our age-old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony.”6 Jesus replied, “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.7 Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’8 For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition.”9 Then he said, “You skillfully sidestep God’s law in order to hold on to your own tradition. 10 For instance, Moses gave you this law from God: ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ 11 But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ 12 In this way, you let them disregard their needy parents. 13 And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others.”14 Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “All of you listen,” he said, “and try to understand. 15 It’s not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.” Inside-Out Faith vs. Outside-In “Faith” Who controls Jesus? Who controls worship/practice? Who controls Scripture? “You skillfully sidestep God’s law in order to hold on to your own tradition. Example of Outside-In “faith”: Pharisees - Jesus compares them to the non-kosher food Example of Inside-Out faith Jesus gives: Gentile Women A deaf person unable to speak. Who are we? Am I inside out or Outside in? Do you fight the light? Who controls how I worship?Religion can be Idol Worship Religious words can be taking God’s name in vain Do you read the meaning into the Scripture, or does the Scripture read meaning into you? The truth will ultimately control the narrative. Luke 8:17 all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all. John 8:31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Why do we often neglect Scripture? You may have heard the old adage "The devil made me do it". In this case, there is actually some validity to that. Of course we still make the ultimate choice and the responsibility is ours. But we will look at how the devil seeks to move us away from Scripture by using several "justifiable excuses". We'll explain this... Hope it's a blessing to you!
Pastor Jim Gane // If you make it about you... you lose. It’s true. If you want to be miserable, make life about yourself. Life was not meant for that. Listen to Jesus quoting Scripture: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40 The Great Commandment is to LOVE GOD, and LOVE OTHERS. If you make your life about loving yourself, you’ll miss the purpose you were created by God and redeemed by the death of Jesus.
I am not asking the world this question. The world needs to come to Jesus FIRST before any of this can be applied to them. After they make Jesus Lord, now comes the question: Do you want to really live? The Scripture tells us exactly what is required! Listen first to part one of this short two-part series. Are these things being taught correctly at your church? The following two free resources will answer truckloads of questions, and set you free! What are you hearing at your church? Are you being taught that biblical commandments are unnecessary to regulate Christian behavior under grace? Is your pastor telling you that you no longer have to obey the commandments of God, and that it is ONLY love and grace now? Are we to "X" out all commandments today? What do pastors mean when they say that the church is ONLY under the commandment of love? Why are many churches rejecting God’s commandments? Is this the revelation of the hour? What are the consequences of denying biblical commandments? Do you know what is happening to churches that preach a gospel that denies all moral commandments as recorded in nine (9) of the Ten Commandments, and all over the Bible? Why is lawlessness running rampant in so many sectors of the church? Why have adultery, fornication, homosexuality, pedophilia, theft, covetousness, occult practices, idolatry, and many other immoral activities spread into many churches? Could it have something to do with the denial, rejection, minimizing, or replacing of God’s moral laws revealed in Scripture? You bet it does! It is truly amazing to me that pastors often don't see the correlation between loose morals in their churches and their lack of teaching the moral commandments of God. Faith in God's moral guidelines also comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). I've been in churches where year after you year nothing is taught about God's moral guidelines. I am not exaggerating! This free 62 page PDF, “Did the Grace of God Cancel Biblical Commandments” will teach you WHY Christians MUST obey MORAL commandments according to the New Testament! We also teach you WHY Christians are NOT subject to CEREMONIAL commandments that were meant ONLY for Israel. This is vital information for pastors, churches, and the entire Body of Christ! Don't be deceived! Download this free 62 page PDF using this link. It fills in some gaps in our book, "Faith that Receives the Grace of God." They compliment each other, and they are completely free of charge. Be mightily blessed! _____________ Faith that Receives the Grace of God is so important for you and me right now! There is an abundance of strange teaching in the area of grace. Grace has become for many a proposition "sin all you want without accountability", and a "do-nothing to receive from God." Grace for many is a rejection of Biblical moral commandments, and for others it is a denial of the words of Jesus. Grace, when it is in its right place Scripturally, is beautiful, abundant, and powerful, but it can be misused and misapplied. Unfortunately, grace is often taught wrongly. Instead of amazing grace, it has become gross, devilish, pseudo “grease” and not the Blood-bought-grace taught in the New Testament! This book was written so the Biblical perspective on faith and grace could be clearly presented by using verses in their context and according to the intent of the writers of the New Testament. From the Back Cover: A Call to Return—Restoring the Roots of Our Relationship with Jesus explores the depths of the Scriptures to excavate, refine, and lift up its words of power, revealing deep truths that will radically change the lives of believers. By tapping into this rich vein of biblical insight, Dan Alan Rodriguez offers Christians the insights to enable them to set out upon paths of discipleship that follow Jesus closely and that lead to profound experiences of His presence and power. Drawing upon the author’s study of first-century Judaism and Christianity and resting upon a diverse array of sources steeped in the foundational texts of these traditions, the twelve chapters of A Call to Return address a series of interlocking topics: a prophetic call to return; the revival of lawlessness; the revival, purpose, and preexistence of God’s commandments; the church’s commandments and their connections to faith, grace, and good works; the association of works of the law to Jewish tradition and ceremony; holiness; the fear of the Lord; each believer as a temple of the holy; and the meaning of loving the Lord Jesus. If you have a sense that Jesus’s message and ministry are calling you to embark upon a walk with Him that might take you away from all in Christianity that requires no accountability or responsibility before God, then A Call to Return—Restoring the Roots of Our Relationship with Jesus is the right book for you to read. It will give you the keys for understanding and responding to the Lord’s call to return to Him and to follow where He leads. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev. 2:29 NASB). Does the concept of Hell come from Scripture? You might be surprised to find out the answer....
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13, 14 NKJV). No, it is not via the “broadway” of the world that leads to eternal life. Life is entered into only via the NARROW gate. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6 NKJV). Jesus taught that He was and is the way, the truth, and the life. He insisted He was the ONLY way to God the Father. He never proposed a “many ways to God” ideology! Oprah, the gurus, and deceived ministers may say that Jesus is one of the many ways to God, but He said He was the only way to the Father. You may think that is very “narrow”. Yes, VERY narrow! I may be narrow, but I am saved, and entering into life! The path to life is first coming into a relationship with God and His Son Jesus, and then keeping His moral commandments. We saw that from the story of the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-21, from the book of Revelation 12:17, 14:12, and from other verses. "Brother Rodriguez, I am going to heaven because I received Jesus in 1983, even though I never lived the Christian life, and the man I live with is not married to me." stated a woman to me with great conviction. Another one stated, "I received Jesus at a crusade in 1995, so I am going to heaven even though I am gay." Many in the church would say they are still on their way to heaven because of "grace", even though hundreds of Scriptures disprove the statements made by those deceived individuals mentioned above. Yes, we must receive what Jesus did for us and make Him Lord of our lives, but "making Him Lord," means that you reverence, respect, honor, and esteem Him. Making Jesus Lord of your life is not a "confession" alone. It means that you obey the Word and commandments of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. To Romans 10:9, where we are taught to confess Jesus as Lord unto salvation, we must add the truths of Matthew 7:21 and Luke 6:46-49. Confessing Jesus as Lord means submission to His will and Word. It is not a religious formula. It is a living reality in the follower of Jesus. Actions must line up with the words coming from the heart. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter." (Matthew 7:21 NASB) “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like... But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.” (from Luke 6:46-49 NASB) Would you believe the Scripture? Would you believe the words of Jesus and others in the New Testament? Find out in this powerful podcast!
