Nat and Bec open by talking about weird nature. Bec snips invasive caterpillars in half because they can't exist on her grape vine! Bec jumps to a heavy thought that flits into her mind lately: “I'm ugly. I'm stupid.” Nat calls it a “thought wasp,” taken from Jeanette Winterson's reframing of the Atlas myth. They discuss the need to protect themselves from the weight of the world.Nat admits to her own thought wasps, which have more to do with imposter syndrome: “No one wants me” and “Is this everything?”They discuss countering strategies: persisting in prayer (as Miriam Toews' grandmother character offers up in her new book Fight Night), conversation and reframing for one another, as well as gratitude and joy!We love hearing from our listeners! This week was a full blown word of trusting the Lord about everything. David was constantly pursued by Saul and that most likely caused him to fear a lot as it would any of us. But David decided to spare Saul of his life a few times in these past few chapters. How many times have our lives been spared from God because of Jesus? How am I sparing others for what they've done to me? Very valid questions and I talk about it on this episode. Stay rooted!
When you're down and out, or your sin has you in a rut, it's easy to be pinned to the mat. The guilt and shame take hold of your inner being and make you feel like garbage. Understanding restoration is not an easy concept in my mind, but it is what the Lord does for each of us if we ask for forgiveness. Having an accountability partner is essential to being a believer and gaining spiritual growth. David had one in Jonathan, who was Saul's son. Jonathan had sided with David even though Saul wanted to kill him. The two bonded and formed a brotherhood with each other, and it ended up saving David's life.
This week was a challenge at times. Wasn't the best, but certainly not the worst either. This past Sunday was Father's Day, and I'm so blessed to not only be a father, but have my daddy who reigns over the earth. I'm so thankful for all the men in my life who have been a father like figure to me, but I know who my true father is - my God. Who's your daddy? How are you spending time with him? How well do you know him? Jonathan knew his dad Saul, but was constantly testing Saul's patience... its a cool story I talk about in this week's episode.
Fresh concerns about the new National Maternity Hospital were raised this week. They include controversy over the projected final cost of the facility at around €800 million. As well as that, there's also a fear over the possible ethos that could be used to govern the hospital once completed. Dr Peter Boylan, former master of the National Maternity Hospital at Holles St, told us what he thinks. This week was a learning week for my personal growth. I had to dig up some past stuff and forgive myself, and others involved in some sin. It was difficult, but I needed to break the darkness and those spirits that can try to come back up in my mind. I leaned how to try and see where God was in those moments, and He showed up, I just didnt know it. I also discuss my latest readings in 1 Samuel and how I can apply it to my life right now.
In this week's episode I give an update on a lot that I learned during this deal called life. A Cracker Barrel story, John Coltrane analogy, and awesome time in Samuel where Eli, a priest of Shiloh eats fat from sacrifices!!!! rootedmanpodcast@gmail.com
In this episode, I hit the hard issue of homosexuality and then turn the focus of why Jerusalem matters so much. Be blessed and stay rooted!
This week I learned quite a bit from Luke chapters 12-17. Jesus destroyed the Pharisees with parables and you should go and read them all for yourself! There is so much to take from these and how to be taught from the King himself. I love how we as believers are to be called servants to not receive thanks from God, but as our duty.
I had an awesome time interviewing Mark and listening about his childhood and the things he's endured. This is definitely worth your time to listen. Stay rooted!
Lord has been challenging me continually about capturing my thoughts as mentioned last podcast. I was on vacation with the grandfolks down in Florida and am about to head out for baseball stuff. Love yall!

A recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study found that adults who’ve tested positive for COVID-19 were twice as likely to have eaten at restaurants. But the study is facing criticism for its lack of distinction between diners who ate at indoor versus outdoor establishments, food writer Corby Kummer said. “I do trust the CDC, but the study they released did not differentiate between bars or restaurants or between indoor and outdoor dining,” he said. It’s a challenge for restaurants to successfully and safely have indoor dining, Kummer said, but possible if everyone, specifically diners, follow health guidelines. “There are going to be big problems for restaurants trying to open indoors, but there’s a path forward if they follow the rules and insist that their diners follow the rules,” he said. “As for bars, they’re probably not go to reopen until there’s a vaccine that’s well established, and that’s a good year.” Kummer is a senior editor at The Atlantic, an award-winning food writer, and a senior lecturer at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition and Policy.
This is the second part of the interview with Paul Malong Awan Anei, who is the former South Sudanese chief of the army. Paul Malong said what made things worse in South Sudan is that Kiir does not know how to resolve problems. Malong also accused Tutkew who is a presidential advisor, and the Director of National Security General Akol Kuch of having the same intention to take power from President Kiir Mayardit. - Bɛ̈ny thɛɛrë apuruk Paul Malöŋ Awän ee jam ye bɛ̈ny Kiir akuc të adɛ̈ ke looi en kë cë rɔt wuɔ̈ɔ̈c thïn. In this episode, JRob tackles the issue of needing to identify your problems and convincing yourself its an actual problem. Its so easy to overlook small things in your life that can hinder your walk with Jesus. Taking one step at a time, one day at a time, and surrendering your faults to the Father. Colonel Divakaran Padma Kumar (DPK) Pillay began his career as an Indian Army Officer. In 1994 he was grievously injured during a military incident in Manipur. Following this incident, he shifted his focus to become a researcher, aiming to better understand national security and sustainable development to improve the lives of Indian people just like those he had encountered in combat. Col. DPK Pillay is now a research fellow at the Institute of Defence Studies, a think tank for research in international relations based in New Delhi. This podcast focuses on Col. DPK Pillay's 2018 research paper: 'Food Security in India: Evolution, Efforts and Problems'. DPK identified a lack of food security, and rising food prices, as a key factor in the unrest and conflict that he found himself in the centre of in 1994. So, in this paper he explores India's history with food security, tracing the problem to its root causes and discussing its impacts on the people of India.Find out more about the How Researchers Changed the World podcast at www.howresearchers.com, and let us know your thoughts on social media @howresearchers using #howresearchers.

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, February 15, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister. SERMON DESCRIPTION ”How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.” —Rainer Maria Rilke Ordinary problems are not necessarily trivial problems. Everyone of us has problems of our own; even if we like to pretend we have it all together and even though we tend to focus on others’ problems. Sometimes we focus so much on the big problems that we fail to find the beauty, teaching, and the grace within the ordinary problems of our lives. Sometimes our greatest teachers are the small obstacles and challenges we encounter every day.
