ePower is to supply over 20 shopping centres across 14 counties nationwide with high speed EV charging points, following a partnership agreement with Lanthorn, which manages a portfolio of over €1.6bn of property throughout Ireland. Rollout will begin in 2025, and the sites where chargers will be installed include Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway, as well as busy urban areas like Navan, Dundalk, Mullingar, Athlone, Maynooth, Portlaoise and Kilkenny. ?ePower is working closely with Lanthorn in association with their project managers, KSNPM. ePower has been selected following a competitive process, which took into account the company's ability to offer high speed charging facilities, tailored specifically to each site, and crucially, the assurance that the sites would be maintained and serviced by ePower's 24/7 help desk, field engineering and remote management. Commenting on the development, John O'Keeffe, CEO of Power, said: "We're very proud to be part of the drive towards making electric vehicles a better choice for consumers. The rollout and delivery of chargers, be it through public or private partnerships, is key to this. Through this partnership with Lanthorn, ePower plans to have super-fast chargers installed at shopping centres around Ireland, from Donegal to Cork and many places in between; it's a great expansion for us in what's been a hugely successful year of growth." It's been a busy year for ePower; the company recently joined forces with Dublin's local authorities to bring online up to 200 fast chargers across the region in 2025. The initial phase of the project will see ePower's high-speed chargers installed at more than 40 Dublin locations across the four Dublin local authorities. The company also won six of 17 government contracts for the rollout of new high-speed electric car charging hubs across Ireland, due to be operational by the end of 2025. Jody Fanagan joined the family business in 1987 as one of three in the 5th generation to run the company – the 6th generation is now also working there. He was made a director in 1994 and then became the Managing Director in 2013.  Fanagan's is truly a family business established in 1819 and so has been providing excellence in funeral care to families in Dublin for two centuries, looking after 1 in every 4 funerals in the city. But is it not just one family business as the group now encompasses the Kirwans, Nichols and Carnegies funeral homes, which combined run 11 Funeral homes located throughout Dublin, employing almost 100 people. Their latest funeral home, located in Rathfarnham, opened in June 2018, is a 3000 sq. foot premises which incorporates a state-of-the-art operations and logistics centre. This represents a significant investment in the future success of the company. But the keen sports fan listening will also know that Jody is well known for another reason as his golfing cv is hugely impressive, boasting South and West of Ireland Championships, two appearances for the GB & Ireland team in matches against Europe, and of course a Walker Cup appearance in 1995 with three match wins including one against a certain Eldrick Woods aka Tiger! This golfing prowess has continued in later life with success in both the European and US Senior Amateur Opens, which will see him tee is up with the pros in the US Senior Open in 2024. This is the 29th episode with guest Jody Fanagan, Director at Fanagans Funeral Directors in the Davy podcast series 'Everyday Business with Aidan Donnelly'. Zoom is the single biggest breakthrough service of the 2020 global lockdown, in or out of tech. Before February, it was a niche business tech tool. 90 days on, it's a global household name. Grannies, schoolteachers and friends now use it daily. It has replaced ‘Skype' and ‘FaceTime' as our default verb for video-conferencing.  And the chief information officer, responsible for making large chunks of it work, is a man from Rathfarnham.  Harry Moseley is unlike a typical CIO. He's relaxed and easygoing with the emeritus demeanor of a board member rather than the guy logging 14-hour days to make sure everything is ticking. Adrian hears from Harry about the “upsetting” moments over security reports in recent weeks. He also touches on his childhood here, including growing up as a Jewish kid in Dublin. Adrian also talks to Vanessa Tierney, CEO and co-founder of Abodoo, an Irish firm set up with a specialty in matching remote workers to employers. In a wide-ranging chat, Adrian and Vanessa go beyond the clichés of remote working to discuss the future of cities and whether there'll be a generational split in who wants to live in built-up areas. The Big Tech Show is in association with Fidelity Investments.

These nuisances escalated quickly though, and culminated in a raging fire in their Rathfarnham home. Esther McCann and her foster daughter, Jessica, died in the blaze. Investigators ruled that this was a case of arson, and gardai quickly discovered that Frank McCann - the grieving father and husband - had some dark secrets.  ********** The featured podcast this week is a new one. 'You little pricktease!' This week Up To 90 (https://www.headstuff.org/up-to-90/) goes live: as our jaded ginger duo are joined by hilarious comics Jim Elliott and Danny Ryan, with musical maestro Fred Cooke on keyboard to chat all things Springfield in this Simpsons special. The teacher in our midst has gone Factor 50 on the photocopies and printed off lyrics for the requisite sing-songs as we talk favourite characters, best moments and funniest episodes. Julie stuns with her rapping ability and Danny talks swear jars, Jim effectively saves the day with an encyclopaedic knowledge of every Simpsons episode ever and Emma exposes the truth about serial pet poisonings in Rathfarnham circa the early 90s. We've got misquotes and misnomers galore in this episode, lots of misjudged crowd interactions, our podcasting nemeses make a brazen appearance and Julie's parents are there to watch her big moment as she confirms why Emma is pursuing a solo pop career minus her neurotic comedy wife.
