1. NFC North -Have you ever seen a better situation for a #1 overall pick to walk into? What can Bears fans realistically expect from Caleb Williams in his rookie season? -Do you think Kiran Amegadjie makes more sense as a long-term replacement for Braxton Jones at LT, or as a long-term replacement for Teven Jenkins at guard? -How good of a chance do you think Austin Booker has to develop into Montez Sweat's long-term bookend for the Bears? -What makes J.J. McCarthy and Kevin O'Connell a hand-in-glove fit schematically speaking? -What makes Dallas Turner potentially worth this massive price (six total picks) for the Vikings? -Do you anticipate Jordan Morgan being the Packers starting left tackle come Week 1 or do you see him starting his NFL career inside? -If one of Edgerrin Cooper or Javon Bullard (or both) makes a solid contribution this season, can we be very confident that this Packers defense finally plays up to their potential after two underwhelming years? -Would it be a massive disappointment if this 2024 Lions defense isn't the best D Dan Campbell has had in his time in Detroit thus far? -Would you be surprised to see either Christian Mahogany or Mekhi Wingo (or both) as a full-time starter in 2025? 2. NFC East -Why do you think the Commanders decided to go with Jayden Daniels over Drake Maye? -Even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet, should we expect a pretty sizable impact from Ben Sinnott this season? -Would you bet on both Tyrone Tracy, Jr. and Theo Johnson becoming foundational pieces for this Giants offense along with Malik Nabers? -If Tyler Nubin and/or Andru Phillips makes a solid impact this year, are the Giants likely a top-12 defense or better? -In 2023, the Eagles surrendered 35 TD passes and only intercepted 9. With Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean now in the fold, how much should we expect those numbers to improve in Philly's favor this season? -What makes Jalyx Hunt such an intriguing project for Vic Fangio to work with? -Do you anticipate Cooper Beebe starting at the pivot for Dallas in 2024? -How optimistic should the Cowboys be about Marshawn Kneeland becoming a long-term defensive cornerstone like Demarcus Lawrence has been? 3. NFC South -Was Xavier Legette's breakout campaign last year a fluke or was it a sign of things to come? -Do you think Jonathon Brooks is likely to be the centerpiece of the Panthers offense in Year 1 of the Dave Canales era? -If Kirk Cousins shows even the slightest signs of decline between now and 2026, should the Falcons hand the reins over to Michael Penix, Jr. two years from now? -We all know Raheem Morris can maximize defensive talent, thus are you bullish on two of these three picks (Ruke Orhorhoro, Bralen Trice, Brandon Dorlus) being hits? -Are you at least somewhat puzzled by Taliese Fuaga's schematic fit with the Saints? -If the 2024 season goes south for the Saints, should they be willing to start Spencer Rattler for say 3-5 games? -What does Graham Barton offer the Bucs from Day 1 and how much improvement should we expect from their running game this season? -Do you think Chris Braswell has what it takes to become a full-time starter for the Bucs? 4. NFC West -How does Darius Robinson improve this Cardinals defensive front from Day 1 and what is the best way to utilize him? -What made Trey Benson stand out from all the other running backs in this class and do you believe he's fully capable of shouldering a heavier workload at the NFL level? -Is it fair to expect a DROY level performance from Byron Murphy this year? -Can you see Blake Corum getting 35-40% of the carries for the Rams this year? -What makes Ricky Pearsall the ideal WR for a Kyle Shanahan offense? -Would you be surprised to see both Renardo Green and Malik Mustapha end up as starters for the 49ers by 2025, if not sooner?

Are signs pointing toward a Day 2 wide receiver pick as selections at that position begin to dominate mocks. If so, why are names including Western Kentucky's Malachi Corley, South Carolina's Xavier Legette, Texas' Adonai Mitchell and Michigan's Roman Wilson coming up frequently? And is the lack of depth in the tackle market pointing toward a Day 1 pick of top options including Alabama's JC Latham and Georgia's Amarius Mims. Our duo tackles those questions and more. Including: Is Florida State's Renardo Green a perfect Day 2 fit with the Steelers' needs at cornerback? Could a guard like Kansas State's Dominick Puni make sense even though the roster appears set at those spots for 2024? February 16, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 91 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, which was recorded Thursday night, Alex Kozora and Josh Carney jump right into talking about the East-West Shrine Bowl, getting Josh's perspective from the week in Dallas looking at some 2024 NFL Draft prospects. Josh went about highlighting some of his top prospects from the Shrine Bowl that could be fits for the Steelers in the 2024 NFL Draft, including Florida State cornerback Renardo Green and Ohio State linebacker Steele Chambers. Alex and Josh then talk about the recent report from The Draft Network regarding the Steelers meeting with West Virginia offensive lineman Doug Nester at the Shrine Bowl, and how he could potentially fit in Pittsburgh in the trenches. Following the talk about the East-West Shrine Bowl, Alex and Josh get into the recent coaching hires, giving additional thoughts on Steelers' wide receivers coach Zach Azzani quarterbacks coach Tom Arth. Josh did a deeper dive on Azzanni following his hiring and gives his thoughts on what Azzanni brings to the table as the next receivers coach in Pittsburgh. Later, Josh defends his take on the Steelers needing to be aggressive at the punter position in the 2024 NFL Draft, specifically regarding Iowa's Tory Taylor and BYU's Ryan Rehkow, following the release of Pressley Harvin III. Alex and Josh also cover recent comments made by former Steelers' GM Kevin Colbert regarding his view on analytics and the backlash that those comments received earlier in the week. “Oh yeah!” Mike Norvell was in his element as the first drills of practice got underway Tuesday morning — as mentioned yesterday, there may not be another person on the planet more excited for FSU to take the field after being off for 14 days. The Seminoles matched the coach's energy at practice, one Norvell described as “energetic... the speed we practiced with was good.” The offense and defense each produced up and down moments during the day as the offense looked better in 11 on 11 drills earlier, with the defense finding its stride as practice wore on. During an up-tempo practice, three themes stood out above the rest. Maurice Smith To start the year, Maurice Smith is in the running for the unsung hero of this FSU football team. Throughout the last week, the coaching staff mentioned how vital he is for their offensive line, reflected in 0 false starts on the road against Clemson. Alex Atkins, yesterday during his media availability, said of Smith, “ he tries to keep me positive, that's his job.” It is safe to say that the Seminole Center takes the room's pulse and has its respect simultaneously. Smith constantly talks to his teammates for being on the reserved side, and he put that on display Tuesday. After each rep, #53 could be seen communicating to his fellow offensive linemen even before the coaching staff spoke. He encouraged each player after each rep and gave them pointers as if he were working and playing. When Smith was called into action, he proved why he earned the starting job two years in a row, twice dispatching Malcolm Ray during 1-on-1s and doing an admirable job checking protection with Jordan Travis. With the injury concerns primarily behind him, the Miami native looks to spark the offensive line for the stretch run. Johnny Wilson After taking a detour to start the season, the Johnny Wilson bandwagon will be coming full steam ahead after the bye week. On Tuesday, every time I turned my head, Wilson scored a touchdown or made an acrobatic catch, putting his 6'7 frame constantly on display. The Arizona State transfer practiced today with the best energy I felt he has shown since the season began, which translated to the field. During 11 on 11 work, he first caught a short out route from Jordan Travis as an appetizer and then made a back shoulder reception as he launched over Renardo Green, plucking the ball out of the air for the main course. Johnny Wilson was no match against the scout team towards the end of practice as I counted three touchdowns, each thrown in the air over 30 yards. His ability to get off the press and win on the outside are strengths, but how Norvell moves him into the slot has been ingenious. In the game against Boston College, the Seminoles' playcaller constantly moved Wilson inside, and this caused mismatches throughout the day. Mike Norvell continued with that trend on Tuesday, and no defense has an answer for a towering 6'7 receiver standing in the slot. Johnny Wilson seems to refound his grove, which should only open up the “downfield shots” Alex Atkins wants to keep taking. Fentrell Cypress After practice Tuesday, the Virginia transfer met with the media and gave insight into what the defense will be keying in on Saturday afternoon. “It's going to be a physical game. We need to tackle and cover our guys just like every other game, but it's going to be a dogfight. We know they like to run the ball, and we need to come up and tackle.” One of the weaknesses in the secondary to start the year includes their tackling ability, but Cypress has been a bright spot through the first month. According to PFF, the cornerback produced a 76.1 run grade through four games, which outpaces his pass grade. To start the year, Florida State struggled against running quarterbacks, and they will need their veteran secondary members to get hats to the ball and make plays when they are presented. The Florida State Seminoles hope to land 5-star recruit Zaquan Patterson, and soon. Breaking down the latest information with one of Florida State's biggest remaining recruiting targets, that's the crux of this podcast. The safety is the last of the elite Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna players to make his college announcement, and I've learned that's about to change. To be clear, no specific date has been released by Patterson. Still, look for that decision to come soon and there are multiple reasons – discussed within this podcast – to believe that Patterson is strongly considering the Noles to be his college choice. Directly related, FSU's already incredible defensive back class with KJ Bolden, Charles Lester, CJ Heard, and Ricky Knight also links back to Florida State's glory days as “DB U.” Elite players like Deion Sanders, Leroy Butler, Corey Sawyer, Antonio Cromartie and Terrell Buckley all have played for the Garnet and Gold. They were a major part of a dynasty in Tallahassee. This group of defensive backs can help lead the Noles back to when FSU's secondary was elite almost every season. Finally, this episode will be a breakdown of How FSU's current cornerbacks, like Renardo Green and Fentrell Cypress, have a huge task ahead of them with the LSU Tigers coming down to Orlando to take on the Seminoles. Statistically, when LSU's rushing attack was minimized last season, a big part of that would be teams like Florida State, Tennessee and Georgia doing an excellent job at cornerback, especially in critical moments. The key against LSU, slowing down star wide receiver Malik Nabers (see the prior episode for even more about this future NFL prospect). Thus, the rest of the defenders could focus more on slowing down the LSU rushing attack. It's a jammed pack episode kicked off with recruiting news and a backend discussing the upcoming FSU versus LSU matchup. Check it out! Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! First, Drake and Dave discuss the expectations and after-the-fact feelings about the DB corps in 2022, a group that was yet again loaded with talent and potential, and had guys step up primarily at the CB position, but overall saw inconsistent performance outside of star safety Jammie Robinson. Then, the guys address the expectations for the defensive backs heading into 2023, as Florida State adds lockdown corner, UVA transfer Fentrell Cypress, but loses Jammie Robinson, under the tutelage of new defensive backs coach Pat Surtain. Will this be the year of Travis Jay? Will Akeem Dent fill in nicely for Jammie Robinson? Will guys like Renardo Green or Jarrian Jones take the next step to provide another shutdown option at CB opposite Cypress? Finally, they discuss whether, despite being loaded with talent/potential and household names, the DB room is the biggest question mark on the team for 2023, and how deep the safety spot really is beyond the first team—will a youngster step up and make a name for himself? As always, thanks for making Locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every day. We thank y'all for all the love and support and hope you enjoy the show. Welcome back to another episode of Locked on Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast! Drake and Dave discuss all the transfer news today, namely Darrell Jackson transferring in from Miami and a barrage of Florida State's core contributors announcing their return for next year. First, Drake and Dave discuss the impact of Miami interior defensive line transfer, Darrell Jackson, who started all 12 games for Miami this year, is a sure tackler and sound against the run, and will likely plug-and-play as a starter for Florida State next season. Then, the guys discuss the news and impact of a flurry of announcements from key current Seminoles, some of whom we thought might be testing their luck in the NFL Draft (and some of whom we hadn't considered whether they may be transfer candidates), including Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Micah Pittman, Mo Smith, Robert Scott, and more on the offense, as well as Tatum Bethun, Kalen Deloach, Renardo Green, and Jarrian Jones on the defense. Does this continuity portend an ACC Championship-level team next year? As always, thanks for making Locked on Seminoles your first listen each and every day.
