Talking Apes TV: A Planet of the Apes Podcast

We're back! After another looooong hiatus, Talking Apes returns with a super episode! Richard Woloski and Kevin Toft look ahead to what's coming up in Apes fandom. In April we get the new Marvel comic series, the first since 1975. Then in 2024 we can look forward to the next film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes! We go over the recent casting news and speculate on what writers, Rick Jaffa and Amanada Silver, said in recent interviews.    Also, we finish up the series where we break down the unproduced Planet of the Apes TV series scripts and synopses. There were eight unproduced stories, four of which are in script form where in past episodes we did readings with a full cast. Now, we review the last four story synopses. These include “The Trek”, “Freedom Road”, “The Mine”, and “The Trial”. What is your opinion of these stories? And which Ape TV-Verse do you prefer: these unproduced stories or the plots the CBS shows gave us?    You can find the synopses here.   The scripts can be found here.   Now, GO APE!   Contact Us   Email: Apestv@SkywalkingThroughNeverland.com   Tweet: @Skywalkingpod   Facebook: Talking Apes TV   Subscribe on iTunes | Stitcher | YouTube

(Feb. 21, 2022) – When “Star Wars: A New Hope” blasted into theaters 45 years ago, the film created a monumental cultural event, setting the imaginations of generations to come ablaze with tales of heroism, villainy, adventure, mysticism and romance. What is it like to travel to a galaxy far, far away? What is it like to fly on a starship? To make friends with an alien? To wield a lightsaber? To engage in a space battle? What is it really like to see, feel and live Star Wars? The answers to these questions and many more will be answered March 1, 2022, when Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser debuts at Walt Disney World Resort. This first-of-its-kind immersive adventure is a vacation experience going beyond anything Disney has created before. Guests become the heroes of their own Star Wars stories during a two-night adventure aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, a vessel known for its impeccable service and exotic destinations. Passengers relax in well-appointed cabins, enjoy exquisite dining and out-of-this-world entertainment, experience Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios in new ways, and explore the ship in search of hidden secrets and new opportunities. Throughout the voyage, guests' choices determine their personal stories as they interact with characters, crew and other passengers, becoming part of the action and the broader Star Wars saga. They may be asked to keep a secret, deliver a covert message, take part in a high-stakes heist, defend the ship, hide an ally … the possibilities are seemingly endless. Decisions guests make affect how these tales unfold, intertwining with those of other passengers and well-known characters such as Chewbacca and Rey as momentum builds on an action-packed adventure that may determine the fate of the galaxy. In this episode we finish our series on the Planet of the Apes unproduced TV script breakdowns with “Hostage.” But this time we bring in a full cast! In this episode we take three lessons from The Walt Disney Company: Learning from the Past, Momentum, and Opening New Doors. "Around here, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things." –Walt Disney Company Three Lessons from Disney   Learning from the Past • It's important to look backwards, learn from history, mistakes, successes • Don't look back too long, don't get stuck in the past • Don't get distracted (we share a story about how Ginny raced and kept watching the other racers), instead look forward   Momentum •Goes with our Episode 11 "You Have to Start Somewhere." • It takes work to start but it gets easier when you gain momentum to keep going, though it still takes work • It's also easy to get off track and lose momentum.     Opening New Doors • Discovery is fun. Always be exploring new ideas and ventures. • Find new ideas to improve what you already have • Find completely new things to pursue • Keeps you from getting stale and stagnant • You get to join new communities and meet new people! Steve Glosson from Geek Out Loud and Richard Woloski from Skywalking Through Neverland joined hosts Teresa Delgado, Tricia Barr, and Sarah Woloski to share our initial reactions to The Force Awakens. Learn who won the Verizon virtual reality giveaway for listeners from the last show. The box office numbers are Starkiller Base huge on this movie, and that is likely due in part to how the characters and story moved everyone. Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe Dameron, BB-8, Han Solo, Maz Kanata, Princess Leia and so many more are covered in the discussion. Though it’s still unclear #WhatsaSnoke? The character discussion features our first impressions of Rey. So many thoughts and too little time to discuss such an amazing heroine. Undoubtedly she will be back for another round!
