Columbia city manager De'Carlon Seewood has been on the job for 18 months, as city manager. Mr. Seewood grew up in the Kansas City area, graduating from Grandview high school. He earned his undergraduate degree at Rockhurst and his master's degree from Mizzou. He's also worked in Osage Beach, Fulton, Ferguson and Berkeley. Mr. Seewood joined host Fred Parry in-studio for the hour Saturday morning on 939 the Eagle's "CEO Roundtable." He praises Columbia's engaged citizenry, but says that presents challenges too. Mr. Seewood answers questions from Fred on numerous topics ranging from infrastructure to Thornbrook water to a 6.9 percent electric utility rate increase to crime to roll carts. He tells listeners that while a water tower is needed in the Thornbrook area, it will NOT solve the issue:

The University of Missouri's all-time winningest coach and a former Tiger star running back will be inducted into the Cotton Bowl Classic Hall of Fame next Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Gary Pinkel and Rockhurst product Tony Temple will be inducted along with several others, including former Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning. Coach Pinkel joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri", and reflected on the 38-7 2008 Cotton Bowl win over Arkansas and the 41-31 2014 Cotton Bowl win against Oklahoma State. Pinkel describes the Cotton Bowl as a historic game in the bowl system and also praises Tony Temple, who rushed for 281 yards and scored four touchdowns in the 2008 classic:

Bill O'Connor, the long time head coach of Rockhurst University in KC, is this month's guest on "Building with Brick." Coach O'Connor is the winningest basketball coach in the history of Rockhurst. He won multiple "Coach of Year" awards in two different conferences at the college level. He coached at the high school, junior college, small college and major college levels throughout his 41-year coaching career. He is a member of the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, inducted in 2019. Motivated and focused from an early age, Kelly Donohoe has been a success story as a player and coach at every level. A star quarterback at Harrisonville HS and then on to KU, he then took his leadership skills into coaching, where he has been a success at every stop.
Richard Konzem lived his dream. He grew up in Kansas and rose from being the University of Kansas track manager as a freshman in college to being the top assistant Athletic Director at KU . He was a finalist for the KU AD job twice, and later became the Athletic Director at Benedictine College and Rockhurst University. He's currently the Golf Coach at Rockhurst for both the men's and the women's golf teams.In Part 1 of 4 of the interview podcast, Richard shares his early boyhood interest in sports, and how getting cut from the freshman basketball team actually spawned his long and successful career in athletic administration. He walks us through how he was mentored as a student by a famous coach and an assistant AD at KU, and how he landed his first job at KU after getting a Master's Degree from the University of Southern California.In Part 1 Richard talks about his mentors personally and how they shaped his management style when he ascended to levels of authority. He also describes how his farm background shaped his mentality for striving for excellence. He has an amazing success story to share that is both educational and entertaining.
Biagio Mazza is Pastoral Associate for St. Sabina's Parish in Belton, Missouri providing for the adult faith formation needs of the parish. Biagio has worked for the church in various positions for over 40 years. Before coming to St. Sabina in May 2006, Biagio was a staff member of the Center for Pastoral Life and Ministry in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, for over 17 years. Prior to joining the staff of the Center for Pastoral Life and Ministry, Biagio worked in catechetical ministry in the Archdiocese of New York for over 12 years. Biagio published one book and contributed to another. Biagio authored a book in the Paulist Press Catechist's Guide Series called How to Teach Scripture, published by Paulist Press in 2010. He is also a major contributor to books on Scripture backgrounds for Lectionary Years A, B and C, called Foundations for Preaching and Teaching, published by Liturgy Training Publications. Biagio was an adjunct instructor in scripture, theology, church history, and Islam for the Institute of Religious Studies facilitated through Benedictine College for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, as well as adjunct Theology instructor for both Rockhurst and Avila universities in Kansas City, Missouri. Biagio is active in ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, especially with Jewish-Christian and Muslim-Christian dialogues.
