Today, we'll take a look at the movie, Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, In Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Admiral James T. Kirk is on a two week training mission with a crew of cadets who are under the command of Captain Spock. His training exercise is interrupted when they learn that a rival of Kirk's, Khan Noonien Singh has stolen a top-secret device called Project Genesis. The Genesis Device can either create life – or destroy it. A theme that is woven into the storyline is the bond of friendship that has been forged between Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy. In the end, Spock sacrifices himself to disable a nuclear bomb aboard the ship to save the Enterprise and his friends. We'll use this movie to talk about how the prophets Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel may have joined together to form a “Brotherhood of the Scroll” to preserve their ancient sacred writings as the Jews were taken captive into Babylon. So, this is it. Finally, we are doing a watchalong of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. A regular contender for the "best Star Trek movie of all time." And it does not disappoint. From the sartorial splendor of Kirk's wardrobe, to increasingly slower and slower chase scenes with higher and higher stakes, to – let's just call it like it is – Ricardo Montalban's chest and pretty much every line he delivers in this. You'll laugh, you'll cry. You'll have a strange hankering for popcorn (if you're anything like us). And, in the end, you'll feel young again. That's a promise. Join us for our next watch party in February where you can watch Star Trek with us virtually!! Super nerdy and fu. Http://patreon.com/setphasers

Does anyone have the answer? I don't.As far as I can tell, the first appearance of the streaky star effect (where all the stars blur into lines streaking past the Enterprise when it goes into warp) was in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, the second Star Trek movie. Wrath of Khan came out in 1982, five years after Star Wars debuted in 1977. Which means Star Wars did it first, as far as I can tell (someone correct me if I'm wrong). In the opening credits for the Original Series, we definitely get a whooshing noise as the Enterprise zooms through space, but no streaky star effect.

Don't do drugs, kids! This episode is all about the dangers of addiction, or is it really just the start of an awesome Star Trek Acid Party. (I swear we'll stop talking about that video soon!) We get the return of two actors who were in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, which is cool, and one of them gets to act like a stoner on a phone call, so that's even cooler. Riker gets to act all frozen ... again. After a listener Twitter poll we had chosen for us - Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan. Chris was and never will be a fan of the Star Trek films. So naturally when everyone found out they picked this over Empire Strikes Back lol. If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, become a supporter. www.patreon.com/thevhsstrikesback Plot Summary: It is the 23rd century. Admiral James T. Kirk is an instructor at Starfleet Academy and feeling old; the prospect of attending his ship, the USS Enterprise--now a training ship--on a two-week cadet cruise does not make him feel any younger. But the training cruise becomes a deadly serious mission when his nemesis Khan Noonien Singh--infamous conqueror from late 20th century Earth--appears after years of exile. Khan later revealed that the planet Ceti Alpha VI exploded, and shifted the orbit of the fifth planet as a Mars-like haven. He begins capturing Project Genesis, a top secret device holding the power of creation itself, and schemes the utter destruction of Kirk. www.twitter.com/vhsstrikesback thevhsstrikesback@gmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thevhsstrikesback/support
To kick off 2021, two shrinks is getting sinful. Thanks to a suggestion from psychiatrist Dr Jackie Rakov (@psychwrite on twitter), we’re taking a look at the psychology behind the seven deadly sins.
