Listen as Melissa tells Daniel a crazy case from his old stomping ground. There's so many twists and turns you are going to be saying "what" right along with Daniel. In January of 2013, a call comes into the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department. Local defense attorney, David Weiner is on the line. He tells the 911 dispatcher that he is reporting a deceased body at the home of one of his clients. A client that he has defended before, in a case all too similar. Is this shooting a literal blast from the past? Or something much more sinister and premeditated? EPISODE 82: IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS 1990-1994 They call it the LOST Decade but in this episode the boys FIND it by talking to their favourite L.A. writer-director-producer David Weiner! LISTEN as they dive right into the heart of 90's horror by exploring the first half of the decade that brought us thrillers, sequels and Hollywood with his newest 6 hour documentary IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS 1990-1994! ALSO we explore LARRY's weird obsession with wanting to have David on our podcast 10 times once again making it super awkward. Order your doc by CLICKING HERE!!
FORGET YOUR FURBIES, YOUR SLAP BRACELETS, AND YOUR POGS! MONSTER PARTY WANTS YOU TO FIRE UP THE VCR AND GET READY FOR SOME CHILLS! SHAWN SHERIDAN, JAMES GONIS, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, revisit that strange, transitional, hard-to-define decade of film that produced so many fright classics! Put the lotion in the basket and steady your nerves for... '90S HORROR! The 90s were an interesting time for the horror genre, and unlike the 80s, a bit more difficult to pigeonhole. It was an era that expanded the success of many popular franchises like FRIDAY THE 13TH, PHANTASM, BASKET CASE, HELLRAISER, EVIL DEAD, and CHILD'S PLAY, experimented for better or worse with CGI, and gave us new horrors that still had a bit of that loveable eighties vibe. Yeah, we're lookin' at you FRANKENHOOKER, DEAD ALIVE (aka BRAIN DEAD), and WISHMASTER! And let's not forget the unprecedented Oscar wins for SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. By introducing elements of the thriller, "Silence" and its descendants/copycats nearly made horror mainstream. But there's so much more to the story than that. By sheer coincidence, the guest we got for this episode just so happens to be the producer/director of the mega-documentary, IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS: 1990-1994, and a past guest/dear friend of MONSTER PARTY He is also the visionary who brought us the long-form 80s horror documentaries in the IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS series, IN SEARCH OF TOMORROW: THE DEFINITIVE '80S SCI-FI DOCUMENTARY, ALIEN EXPANDED, and THE THING EXPANDED! And if that were not awesome enough, he's a multiple RONDO AWARD WINNER, the past executive editor of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, and writes the celebrated blog... IT CAME FROM...! Please welcome back... DAVID WEINER! NOW PULL YOUR HAIR BACK IN YOUR BUTTERFLY CLIP, STOP FEEDING THAT TOMAGOTCHI, AND LET'S GET TO THIS!

And are the Rockets a darkhorse for a Paul George trade?

Break out the synths, hairspray & Fangorias - IN FOUR FILMS is going '80s horror, baby! To celebrate the release of "In Search of Darkness," a companion book to David Weiner's popular documentary of the same name, which tells the history of '80s horror movies, I invited the book's co-authors, Heather Wixson & Patrick Bromley to each describe their nerdy, terror-loving selves in four horror movies from, arguably, the genre's greatest decade. 4 x 2 is 8, so I've got a supersized episode in store; strap in with a cold brew and enjoy! --- Follow Heather on Twitter: @thehorrorchick Follow Patrick on Twitter: @patrickbromley Follow Derek Anderson (real ones know) on Twitter: @Derek_TMM Follow F This Movie! on Twitter: @fthismovie Pre-order "In Search of Darkness": https://aminkpublishing.com/store/ols/products/in-search-of-darkness-book-pre-order-package - If the link doesn't work, go to "aminkpublishing.com" and click on the "Dark Ink" tab; you'll quickly find it. Dave Hardisty and David Weiner discuss the Houston Rockets trade with the Memphis Grizzlies for center Steven Adams, trade rumors involving Mikal Bridges, other NBA Trade deadline possibilities for the Rockets and the current state of the young prospects like Cam Whitmore, Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, Tari Eason and Jabari Smith Jr.
The Houston Rockets are back to being a professional NBA team once again. The Rockets finally ended the Kevin Porter Jr. era on Tuesday, coughing up two second-round picks in order to unload his contract to the Oklahoma City Thunder, getting back the contract of Victor Oladipo and third-year forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. The move puts an end to a long investment and very rocky tenure with KPJ. David Weiner joined Dave Hardisty on the ClutchFans podcast to discuss the Porter Jr. Experiment, the price paid to move him, Houston's potential trade options moving forward, the new culture and the current state of the Rockets young core -- including Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., Jalen Green and Amen Thompson.

David Weiner originally moved to Los Angeles to get involved with filmmaking, where he mostly worked as Assistant Director. Soon after, he started writing and found journalism, where he worked for Entertainment Tonight, The Hollywood Reporter, and he even ran the Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine. There, Robin Block recruited him. Listen to the first chat with David back in Episode 294 of this series. In this episode, we talk about the third film in the Darkness franchise, lost horror films nobody talks about anymore, foreign horror movies, heavy metal horror in the most recent installment, what we can learn about indie horror movies today, and how they create content for fans between projects.
