The vibes are high today because Sonia T. and Sonia C. are recording together in person! It's just so nice to be surrounded by good vibrations and get your spirit tuned up high. Sonia T. is preparing for her France naturalization test, and wonders what it would be like to live a left-brained life. Life as a right-brained empath is not an easy one, but there are boundaries you can set and steps you can take to protect yourself when emotions start running a bit too high. This week's theme is: Protect your intuition and your intellect. Sonia Tully's Upcoming Live Workshop in Billings, Montana: https://square.link/u/ObcbEOIV Highlights: Sonia T. loves continually learning – it's one way she puts herself first. [2:11] What would it be like to live a left-brained life? [5:45] Linear thinking just isn't the way Sonia C. operates. [9:40] The power of intuitive teachers – Sonia T. recalls a painful singing memory from her childhood. [12:05] Murder, psychic readings, and life on Saturn. [15:32] Living as an empath is like a turtle living without its shell. [17:35] When a Text Conversation Goes Very Wrong by Key & Peele [20:47] Are you communicating with someone who must be in a different universe? [22:10] Rules for fighting fair. [25:42] As empaths, it can be hard to trust what others say about their feelings. But they deserve that! [29:43] If the vibe is off, leave the door open for a conversation. [34:10] Does interacting with this person feed me or drain me? [37:06] Tool of the Week: Practice switching between your left and right brain. [39:03] Question of the Week: If you had a question about energetic boundaries, this conversation probably answered it! [42:20] Empaths walk on this earth feeling all of the feelings for themselves and everyone around them, and that can be exhausting! Taking on all of those emotions can start to feel like a turtle without a shell and everyone around you is wearing high heels. Empaths have to protect themselves by setting boundaries and being honest with themselves about what they are willing to take on. Sometimes people who are clearly not fine will tell you they're “fine”, and you have to accept that. Never work harder than someone else is willing to work to have a good connection. If they say they're fine, then they're fine! If the vibes are off, leave the door open for a conversation but be willing to walk away. Own your own energy and most of all, mind your own business! You have to leave it at that to protect your own boundaries and your sanity. Tool of the Week: Practice switching between your left and right brain. Question of the Week: If you had a question about energetic boundaries, this conversation probably answered it! On today's episode of the Craft Industry Alliance podcast we're talking about cross stitch with my guest Stephanie Rohr. Stephanie Rohr is a cross-stitch designer, artist, and author. She is known as StephXstitch in the craft world, after giving that name to her Etsy shop in 2010. Stephanie's work fits into the subversive cross-stitch movement, with a focus on traditional design elements paired with humor, pop-culture references, and feminist and political themes. Stephanie created cross-stitch designs for Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign merch in 2020. Her work has also appeared in TV ads for the Chicago Blackhawks, and on the Comedy Central show "Key & Peele". Stephanie herself appeared on the web series "Craft Room Crash", and was a speaker at Midwest Craft Con in February 2020. Her first book, Feminist Cross-Stitch, was published in 2019. In 2021, her book was infamously pulled from the shelves of Michael's, which led to an interview in the New York Times. Stephanie and her work have also been featured on the cover of the Chicago Reader, and in Craft Business Magazine, Cross-Stitcher Magazine, Cross-Stitch Crazy, and the front page of Reddit. Her latest book, Self-Care Cross-Stitch, was published in November 2022. +++++ This episode is sponsored by Kinship Handwork. On episode 84 of Outside The Studio: How often do you allow yourself the joy of purchasing a small, modest gift for yourself? Tessa Tovar talks to Tara Schuster on her new book, Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies, where she encourages everyone to do just that; get yourself something small and beautiful. Tune in for the story on Schusters journey from Comedy Central executive to author, what self-care means, and gaining confidence in our bodies. Previously, Tara served as vice president of talent and development at Comedy Central, where she was the executive in charge of the Emmy and Peabody Award–winning Key & Peele. Schuster is the author of several books such as Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies and Glow in the F*cking Dark. Timestamps (00:00) Intro (02:30) Tara's background (05:35) Comedy Central to author (16:45) Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies (25:15) Holding space for opposites (31:25) Low level anxiety and emotion wheels (39:35) Repairing the relationship with our bodies (46:30) Purpose (52:40) Connect Key Takeaways 1. At times, we can feel that we are not worthy of modest gifts to ourselves; small acts of self-care become distant. Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies speaks to that. Buying yourself a small want. Maybe it's in the form of a quality cup of coffee, a side of guacamole that's a dollar extra, or a small bundle of flowers. This isn't about an expensive purchase that will financially screw you, it's about a loving gesture towards yourself. 2. Low-level anxiety may be the secondary feeling to what we are actually wanting to feel. We may struggle to express or allow feelings such as anger, distress, or resentment, often because we don't have the vocabulary to even begin describing it. Using an emotion wheel is the perfect tool to ask yourself what you may be actually feeling. 3. Repairing the relationship with our bodies is difficult, especially for women when we are advertised that everything is wrong with us and we need a grandiose, expensive product that industries are trying to shove down our throats. To start that relationship, beginning with gratitude for a body that's capable of keeping us alive is a simple practice to start. Erik Childress & Steve Prokopy play a little catch-up this week on some films that have been playing in limited release. One film they suggest you don't catch up on from Sundance (Call Jane) still gives rise to another that you absolutely should. Among the rest Steve looks at a new documentary on the famous trumpeter (Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues) and the focus on the mother of an infamously murdered child in Chicago (Till). On Netflix they look at Henry Selick's stop-motion underworld and his team-up with Key & Peele as Wendell & Wild and another grueling adaptation of a twice-made WWI novel (All Quiet On The Western Front). Finally they discuss two of the best films of the year with Martin McDonagh's reunion with Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Todd Field's return to directing with Cate Blanchett (Tár) 0:00 - Intro 1:37 - Call Jane 13:41 - Till 23:19 - Wendell & Wild 34:54 - Louis Armstrong's Black & Blues 40:45 - All Quiet on the Western Front 56:50 - The Banshees of Inisherin 1:11:57 – Tár 1:30:42 - Outro

Editor - Nicholas Monsour NOPE editor Nicholas Monsour has been collaborating with writer/director Jordan Peele since their days together on the comedy sketch tv series KEY & PEELE (2015). When the comedy team took their talents to the big screen with the Peele-penned feature, KEANU (2016), Monsour knew it would be a big leap for him to take on the editorial duties, but made his best pitch anyway. The bet paid off and Nick found himself behind the Avid for his very first feature film. Peele would reach out to Nick once again for his sophomore film directing venture, US (2019). Prior to reteaming with Peele for US, Nick continued to refine his cutting chops on tv series such as; BROCKMIRE (2017), COBRA KAI (2018) and WHISKEY CAVALIER (2019). NOPE was written, directed, and co-produced by Jordan Peele under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea and Michael Wincott. In the film, two ranch-owning siblings, with the help of a tech salesman and a renowned cinematographer, attempt to capture and sell video evidence of an unidentified flying object. The next sequel we are reviewing is "Major League: Back to the Minors” in honor of baseball season starting. I had the pleasure of interviewing Cinematographer Charles Papert who worked as a Steadicam operator on "Major League: Back to the Minors" and it was his 1st big studio movie. Once Charles had his mind on a career in film, he was determined and you will hear a story that shows that. Charles was a Steadicam operator on "American History X", "Office Space", and more. Then he went on to be the Cinematographer on "Scrubs", "Key & Peele", "Kenan", and lots more. Great chat that includes my dad's favorite song Foreigner's "Urgent". Check behind the scene photos from Charles at sequelsonly.com/charlespapert Links mentioned in this episode: Charlespapert.com Charle's Zee Gee Grip https://thezeegee.com/ Next up is "Major League: Back to the Minors". Nothing beats a baseball comedy and this movie has a great cast with a young Walton Goggins. In episode 11 of Bumper Sticker Faith, Louis and Sam (almost) finish their series about how to deal with unwanted porn addiction. This is the fifth of six episodes: CONFESS, LISTEN, OPEN UP TO PAIN, WORSHIP and NEEDS. What does the video game Frogger have to do with fighting porn? Watch to find out! The guys talk about our legitimate NEEDS. Some may be surprised to hear that our sexual needs are good and valid; however, we need to meet our valid needs in a legitimate way. Trying to meet our sexual needs with pornography is not a valid way. In fact, to do so is destructive. The guys show us what's going on behind our valid needs and how to meet them in a healthy, legitimate way. It's important to take all five episodes into consideration when thinking about this last one, as all five are necessary in overcoming addiction. If you're struggling in this area, the guys want to give you permission to put shame aside and come to the BS table with them! They acknowledge how our fear of being seen as weak often keeps us from opening up and asking for help. This series provides a more thorough understanding of what it means to fight porn, in part loosely based on a comedy sketch by Key & Peele, called Psycho Clown, which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngk3VX405GE. In episode 10 of Bumper Sticker Faith, Louis and Sam continue to talk about how to deal with unwanted porn addiction. This is the fourth of six episodes in this series. After we open up to pain, as we heard in the last episode, we need to worship. The guys discuss the meaning of the word 'worship' and its connection to a porn addiction. Louis tells stories of powerful worship experiences in prison and Sam brings our attention to Paul and Silas in Acts 16. The guys give clarity to the 'wolf on each shoulder' analogy and give us permission to worship God in our shame. Hypocrites are called to worship God, too! Remember, breaking a porn addiction is not possible without proper worship. If you're struggling in this area, the guys want to give you permission to put shame aside and come to the BS table with them! They acknowledge how our fear of being seen as weak often keeps us from opening up and asking for help. In episode 9 of Bumper Sticker Faith, Louis and Sam continue to talk about how to deal with unwanted porn addiction. This is the third of (hopefully) six episodes. The next step is to "open up yourself to pain," rather than continue to soothe it with unwanted addiction, such as porn. The guys kick around the ancient practice of circumcision and discuss what it had to do with God's removal of protection, shame, and identity, so that his people would seek their comfort, honor, and purpose from Him. Louis and Sam puzzle over whether porn addiction is always rooted in pain or not. They encourage us to seek professional help if we're unable to discover and/or deal with our wounding within. There's no shame in that! This episode will challenge the way you normally think about the cause of porn addiction, so get ready to blow off your bumper stickers and dig deeper in your life. In episode 8 of Bumper Sticker Faith, Louis and Sam continue to talk about how to deal with unwanted porn addiction. This is the second of (hopefully) six episodes. The next step is to "listen" to what's going on inside you, being curious about our unwanted behavior. We need both an on-the-ground view of our lives AND a skybox view of our lives. Porn is a symptom of something else going wrong inside of you. We are called to examine ourselves each day and the guys give us an approach to doing this. This episode could be huge for you, as you try to break out of bondage to porn. If you're struggling in this area, the guys want to give you permission to put shame aside and come to the BS table with them! They acknowledge how our fear of being seen as weak often keeps us from opening up and asking for help. This episode provides a more thorough understanding of what it means to fight porn, in part loosely based on a comedy sketch by Key & Peele, called Psycho Clown, which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngk3VX405GE. In episode 7 of Bumper Sticker Faith, Louis and Sam begin a series on how to deal with unwanted porn addiction. This is the first of (hopefully) six episodes. If you're struggling in this area, the guys want to give you permission to put shame aside and come to the BS table with them. They acknowledge how our fear of being seen as weak often keeps us from opening up and asking for help. This episode provides a more thorough understanding of what it means to confess, based on a comedy sketch by Key & Peele, called Psycho Clown, which you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ngk3VX405GE. Confessing your sins is more than just saying you're sorry to God--that's the BS way. The guys help us understand what true confession looks like. Feel free to comment and be sure to share! Thanks for listening.

Comedian Tommy Davidson Tells His Story Today on The Total Media Network's Dr. Christopher Hall Show, Dr. Hall and Neil Haley will interview Comedian Tommy Davidson. In Living Color just passed its 30th anniversary, and we recently published the memoir of Tommy Davidson, one of the original cast members of the Emmy Award-winning show. In his candid memoir, LIVING IN COLOR: What's Funny About Me (Kensington Books) Davidson recounts his powerful life story, from being literally discarded in a garbage bin – saved and raised by his adoptive mother – to being discovered at The Apollo Theatre, to becoming a pop-culture touchstone. He takes readers from tryouts to its cast of notables (Keenan Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Foxx, David Allen Grier, among many!) to its place in television history. A world apart from the predominantly white sketch show SNL, the New York Times calls it “a precursor to “Chappelle's Show” and “Key & Peele.” He shares his unique perspective on weathering the rollercoaster ride of his personal and professional life: making it in Hollywood, being an integral part of television history, on fame and family, and the power of positive karma in his life and career.
