Popular culture since 1891 just wouldn't be quite as popular or as cultured without the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, specifically the one which are now in the public domain and fair for plebs like us to use with abandon. So, please enjoy this mixing of cultured, highbrow literature with time travel silliness and social commentary. Stay tuned for part 2 as, legally speaking, there's nothing to stop us from doing it again.Written and directed by Jared McDaris. Featuring the vocal talents of: Arielle Leverett as Holmes. We all have our demons. This sketch does too. They're just pretty literal. You know, super literal. We figure that might actually be a little bit nice if you're feeling overwhelmed by all the figurative stuff going on all over the place. Also, if you're checking this out on release day, happy American Thanksgiving. It's a complicated holiday but it comes with pie. The Production Team of Starlight Radio Dreams would like to acknowledge that the land on which we live and do our work is occupied land unceded by the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. Many other tribes such as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, and Fox also called this area home. Their losses and the cost of our current state are too great to be appreciated fully. Let us gather mindful of this debt.Written and Directed by Jared McDaris. Featuring the Vocal Talents of: Kim Fukawa as Mephisto. Lisa Burton as Dagon. Kat Evans as Eve and Leviathan. In this episode we learn a great deal about the traditions of the Showtime family and the respect Burlington doesn't really have for traditions that have worn out their usefulness. We certainly can't claim that Mr. Showtime is superstitious but he did manage to accept a lot of cryptids and talking animals in this episode which features over an hour of hilarity to keep you busy for at least part of your drive to a small, backyard barbeque. Welcome to Cerddoriaeth Celtica, a companion piece for the Starlight Radio Dreams series “Celtica”. When we conceived of Celtica the desire was to create an adventure serial which used music as part of the action and story. From using music to power Celtica’s magic tools to musical numbers for the big moments, Celtica does exactly that.In this episode of Cerddoriaeth Celtica, Karolyn Blake, co writer for Celtica and the actor behind the title character, sings Ar Hyd y Nos, a song that we hope you come to think of being about perseverance and perspective. We would also like to challenge some traditional toopes in poetry and music.Starlight Radio Dreams stands with protesters and affirms that Black Lives Matter. Episode 053. “Just to have any amount of validation and that well received-ness, that makes you try the next thing with a little less fear that I think it’s really cool and wonderful.” ~Karolyn Blake Twenty (or so) minutes. Seven guests. One question: What has podcasting done for you?  I asked because there are many conversations about what we get from listening to podcasts. But what are the benefits of creating a podcast? Sitting on this side of the mic and talking to our virtual audience?  In answering, my guests and I shared lots of laughs, served up dozens of great quotes, and unanimously agreed on a single truth: What you get out of podcasting is greater than what you put in to it.  Don’t believe me? Well, I’ve got back up. This episode was recorded live at the 2019 Southgate Media Group Podcast Marathon and features insight and advice from: Ansel Burch & Karolyn Blake, two members of the Starlight Radio Dreams network; Angela DeMarco and Jamie Black from the Icky Lousy Junky Life Showdown is a podcast for anyone who’s ever made a bad life choice; Molly, Martha & Rob Southgate of Southgate Media Group, who have been podcasting for half of Molly's life! “Even if you’re like, ‘I have no idea what I want to do, but I know I can talk,’ do it  because it’s a wonderful thing. It’s a way to communicate your ideas like no other...Just go for it. Walk off the cliff. It’s really not as scary as you think.” ~Rob Southgate    Full Show Notes including links & resources: http://www.thecreativeimpostor.com/podenvy053    Podcast Angel: Libsyn My preferred podcasting hosting company. The maiden voyage! This past week (May 29-June 5), I binged season one of The Orphans from the Nerdy Show Network and two episodes of King Falls AM (two episodes isn't "binging" but you get the idea). This week, the season two finale of The Bright Sessions. There's a lot of hype and #feels revolving around episode 24. Will it be the third audio drama to make me cry? Tune in next week to find out! Also possible spoilers for the Orphans first season. I don't know. What is a spoiler anyway? Probably should've led with that. Whoops. Stats courtesy of Breaker. Their stats may be off, but I enjoy the social aspect and personal listening stats of their podcast app for iOS... or maybe I just didn't include an episode of a show. My guess is Starlight Radio Dreams or another King Falls AM episode. #NotASponsor. This week's episode sees the return of lovely recurring guest Ele Matelan (from Our Fair City, Starlight Radio Dreams and Locked Into Vacancy Entertainment), to help us unpack 1986's Rawhead Rex! Written by horror icon Clive Barker (a.k.a. Pervy Lovecraft) and based on his short story, Rawhead Rex sees the return of a goofy-looking hell demon to terrorize a small Irish village, with only an obnoxious American photographer and his sexy grey cardigan to stop it. This week, we get SILLY with a little Starlight Radio Dreams – a live variety show recorded in Chicago by veterans of Chicago's theater scene. Starlight Radio Dreams is hosted by Devin Showtime (Anna Gaetke), a media-savvy Millenial, and her old-timey uncle Burlington Showtime (Ansel Burch), a film star of days gone by. It's all oh so very goofy; mouth foley and bad puns abound. This week, you'll hear a little snippet of SRD, including not just the show's frame narrative of Burlington and Devin Showtime, but one of their four radio serials as well: The Merry Wench Wendy, a steampunk adventure about pirates, revenge, and collectible card games.
