Why do we have so many opinions about women? This week on Healing Is Hilarious, Rachel LaForce connects five seemingly unrelated headlines to one cultural pattern: our obsession with deciding what women should be.Karoline Leavitt is leaving the White House after the birth of her second child. Alex Cooper's Unwell beverage line is winding down. Selena Gomez and her mental-health company Wondermind are facing a lawsuit from investors. Jon Hamm is becoming a first-time father at 55. And the Lindsay Clancy murder trial is forcing a much more serious conversation about motherhood, mental health, responsibility and what happens when women desperately need support.Different women. Wildly different circumstances. But underneath them is the same question:Why are we so much better at judging women than understanding them?Because understanding isn't agreement. Compassion isn't absolution. Failure isn't identity. And someone's life doesn't have to make sense to us to be worthy of curiosity.Healing Is Hilarious connects the headlines to human behavior through comedy, clarity and cultural commentary.Tune out. Tune in. Love you, mean it.
BONUS CONTENT + EARLY & AD-FREE EPISODES HEREPOP 3This week's Pop 3 is packed with updates from the Hamptons and beyond: Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke have the internet wondering if there could be another chapter to their story, Jesse Solomon may have a new Summer House romance brewing, and Nic and Olandria spark reconciliation rumors after being spotted together at Jordyn Woods and Karl-Anthony Towns' wedding. Plus, Alex Cooper has had a very busy week between Unwell's massive new valuation, the shutdown of Unwell Beverages, her departure from UTA, and Dave Portnoy resurfacing their old Barstool drama.DEEP DIVEThis week's Deep Dive looks back at the life and legacy of Hayden Panettiere following her shocking death at just 36 years old. What we know about the circumstances surrounding her death and the ongoing investigation, while also looking beyond the headlines at Hayden's life as a child star, her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression, her complicated relationships, the devastating loss of her brother Jansen, and the vulnerability she showed in recent years by finally telling her own story.FINAL THOUGHTSOur first look at Earle Meets World! Alix Earle is wasting no time addressing the Alex Cooper drama. The trailer makes it clear Alix plans to tell her side of what happened, while also giving viewers a much deeper look at the Earle family's personal lives, and with family-centered reality shows becoming increasingly popular, the question is whether the Earles could become reality TV's next breakout family. THE WAIT IS OVER, BOOK BESTIES. We're here with a very special ACOTAR EMERGENCY EPISODE
What happens when classical opera training collides head-on with aggressive post-hardcore rock? You get the viral sensation Broadway Does Punk, a project that takes iconic standards from shows like Wicked, Hamilton, Six, and The Phantom of the Opera and turns them into full-throttle rock anthems. Matt Copley breaks down the journey of shifting gears from choir rooms and classical vocal pedagogy to mastering false chord screams and harsh vocal grit on stage. He shares the hilarious resistance he faced when first pitching a heavy cover of "Defying Gravity" to his non-theatre bandmates, and how that single leap of faith exploded into millions of views and a live New York City debut. The discussion dives deep into the unexpected silver linings of the 2020 pandemic, which detoured Matt back home to Michigan to form his band Unwell instead of taking the traditional NYC audition route. From the creative influence of American Idiot to self-producing a immersive, dark vaudeville concert experience at the Abrams Art Center Playhouse Theater, Matt reflects on bridging the gap between theatre kids and punk rockers. Plus, he tackles a chaotic 60-second plot recap of Mary Poppins and breaks down why building an authentic, non-traditional path is the ultimate key to disrupting the status quo. Matt Copley is a Michigan-based recording artist, content creator, and theatrical producer. Classically trained in voice through high school and college, he graduated with a degree in musical theatre in 2020 before becoming the lead singer of the post-hardcore band Unwell. He is the creator and producer of Broadway Does Punk, a viral project and live production that reimagines classic musical theatre scores as high-energy rock and punk covers. Harry Jowsey has had a long and winding road through the world of reality dating TV, most notably “Too Hot to Handle” and “Perfect Match.” He rode his success from these Netflix hits to a podcast deal with Alex Cooper's Unwell network – and now, his own reality dating show, “Let's Marry Harry.” In this bonus, Leigh and Claire discuss a show that promises to marry the inveterate womanizer off for good. From its gimmicky concept (all 20 contestants are immediately given engagement rings and referred to as his “fiancées”) to its ill-fated attempt at a redemption arc for Harry, this show is wildly entertaining, frequently alarming, and offers much food for thought about the current state of the reality dating space and masculinity discourse.

On episode 218 of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Josh Overton and Bobby Spencer of Hollow Wake! Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Hollow Wake is a rock/metalcore band that was born in early 2022. Featuring band members that have roots ranging from punk, emo, hardcore, and rock, Hollow Wake has their own unique blend of modern rock, with mental health as the focus. Since their inception, Hollow Wake has made a name for themselves in the Music City and beyond. With influences ranging from Dayseeker, to The Plot In You, Beartooth, My Chemical Romance, and Silverstein, Hollow Wake has crafted a sound that's both emotional and powerful. This versatility has been on display with their 2026 releases, which range from the introspective, Chester Bennington-esque chorus in "So Cold," to the heavy, grindy nature of their latest single "Face This." Having built a solid fan base on the strength of their songs and live shows alongside the likes of The Word Alive, UNWELL, CKY, Attack Attack!, and Dragged Under, among others, 2026 is shaping up to be Hollow Wake's biggest year yet. After dropping numerous new singles, as well as reworked and reimagined versions of previous releases, Hollow Wake announced in August that they're getting ready to release their sophomore album entitled "Dying To Be Whole." The LP was created in collaboration with Drew Bender of UNWELL. The record tackles themes of grief, healing, identity, and personal growth, a chapter a Hollo Wake calls their heaviest and most dynamic to date. Additionally, Hollow Wake will be performing their first ever headlining show on Labor Day, 9/7 at Hit Parader in Nashville. The free event will feature Hollow Wake playing "A Season to Bloom" in its entirety. In this episode, Josh and Bobby of Hollow Wake talk with Mike about the songwriting process, lyrical inspiration, and production on their new releases, some deets on "Dying To Be Whole," and more. This episode also features the aforementioned "Face This" from Hollow Wake, available where you get your music! Follow Hollow Wake on Instagram @wearehollowwake. It shouldn't be that hard to be a nepo-husband. Right? Nepo- husbands, the spouses of celebrity women come in many shapes and forms, but what unites them all is their proximity to the wealth, power and prestige of their famous partners. And while that proximity can be great for building a business, it can also lead to scrutiny... especially when things go wrong. Matt Kaplan, who's married to Alex Cooper, the host of the popular Call Her Daddy podcast, recently faced a Vanity Fair expose which alleged a toxic work environment of their media company, Unwell. So, what does it take to be a nepo-husband? Brittany chats with Claire Parker and Ashley Hamilton, hosts of the Good Noticings podcast, to discuss the benefits, and expectations of nepo-husbands. Daniel Landver is the head of UTA's creators product group — a role most people may not even realize exists. While his job keeps him behind the scenes, Landver is behind some of the buzziest brand launches of the past decade. Think: Patrick Starrr's One/Size, Alex Cooper's Unwell (beverages), Mikayla Nogueira's POV Beauty and Alix Earle's recently launched Reale Actives, to name a few. Much has changed in the 10 years since Landver began working in the creator economy. During his conversation with co-host Sara Spruch-Feiner for the Glossy Beauty Podcast, he discusses how the creator-brand landscape has evolved since he first entered the space in 2015, what separates successful founder-creators from those who struggle and why, in an increasingly crowded market, product quality matters more than follower count.

What if the most controlling relationship you've ever heard of isn't happening in a compound somewhere, but behind closed doors in an ordinary home? In this episode, Renee sits down with Rachel Bernstein, one of the country's leading cult interventionists and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of experience. Together they unpack one of the most eye-opening parallels in psychology: the stunning overlap between cult tactics and covert narcissistic relationships. If you've ever felt like you needed permission to exist in your own relationship — this episode will explain why. In this conversation, you'll discover: - Why a marriage or partnership can function as a "cult of two" - How covert narcissists use the same mind control techniques as cult leaders - Why intermittent gratification is just as addictive as gambling — and keeps you trapped - Why leaving feels like abandonment — and why that feeling is by design - How to start trusting your own inner voice again after years of gaslighting Rachel has worked with the Department of Justice, appeared in the Starz documentary Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult and Netflix series Unwell and How to Become a Cult Leader, and has likely spoken with more cult survivors than anyone in the history of her field. This is one of those conversations that makes everything suddenly make sense. Find Rachel at RachelBernsteinTherapy.com and on her podcast, IndoctriNation. The epidemic of physician burnout isn't just a personal problem. Burned out doctors are more likely to make mistakes, less likely to follow preventative care guidelines, and more likely to have dissatisfied patients. When a burned out physician leaves an institution or quits all together, it can cost north of a million dollars to replace them. Unwell doctors lead to unwell patients — and an unwell health care system. The toll that the burnout epidemic has taken on physicians, patients, and even the bottom-line requires more than individual adaptation on the part of physicians. It requires a grass-roots movement to heal the healers. Our guest on this episode is Mary Brandt, MD — pediatric surgeon and Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Medical Ethics at Baylor College of Medicine. Over the course of her clinical career, Dr. Brandt published over 245 peer reviewed publications, 26 chapters, and 2 books. She became particularly attuned to the suffering of trainees and physicians while serving as General Surgery Program Director and Dean of Student Affairs at Baylor, and she subsequently obtained a Master of Divinity Degree to better understand and articulate what she was observing. Dr. Brandt is a persistent advocate for physician wellness and correcting systemic issues in medicine. Over the course of our conversation, Dr. Brandt describes the moment she felt called to surgery, her fruitless efforts to resist this calling, and how the combination of competence and humility allowed her to manage the pressure of operating on children. We explore the evolution of the physician-wellness movement and why the health care system cannot afford to ignore the wellness of its physicians. Finally, Dr. Brandt posits that the hard work of compassion is what can sustain physicians long term. In this episode, you'll hear about: 3:00 - Dr. Brandt's unexpected path to becoming a pediatric surgeon 11:00 - Dr. Brandt's mental approach to the high stakes work of pediatric surgery 27:49 - The disconnect between the work of healing and the business side of medicine38:15 - How Dr. Brandt's studies in liberation theology have influenced her vision for the healthcare system and medical practice42:00 - The three shifts healers can make to collectively change medicine48:20 - The ‘practice' of compassion and how it can protect physicians from burnout If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe, rate, and review our show, available for free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Keltie is in the middle of contract negotiations with E! and might just pitch them the show of the century — or become a trad wife. Jac can't stop getting pedicures with invisible pinky toes. And Becca has receipts on Keltie's increasingly bold posts about a certain podcast queen. Then the gang dives deep into the Summer House bombshell: Amanda and West's joint statement, a suspicious June 5th Instagram caption, and what MGK's "My Ex's Best Friend" has to do with all of it. Plus: Alex Cooper's Unwell Winter Games lands on YouTube instead of Hulu — and nobody thinks that was the plan. Finally, Jen Shaw walks out of prison and straight into a news cycle that doesn't care.LadyGang is sponsored by BetterHelp! Bachelor Clues & PaceCase analyze Alex Cooper's first leap into reality TV: Love Overboard and Unwell Winter Games. One delivers a baffling game structure, broken mechanics, and a catastrophic failure to capitalize on a strong cast, while the other surprisingly works—despite deeply controversial casting choices and questionable production ethics. From Bella's MVP-level face play to Val's all-time chemistry play, to the complete collapse of Love Overboard's premise, we examine how production decisions shape player performance—and whether Alex Cooper can evolve into a true reality TV producer or just took a massive first swing and miss.Subscribe to Game of Roses: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrFYM8CvKhDvV8OLfnhvP0A/?sub_confirmation=1Patreon: https://patreon.com/gameofrosesMerch: https://gameofroses.orgListen on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/gameofrosesListen on Spotify: http://bit.ly/spotifygameofroses Hosted on Acast.
