Send us a Text Message.EPISODE 367 - Michael Gross - Spillage is a wickedly fun throwback to a chaotic time in New YorkIt's 1976, and the Big Apple is in sorry shape. Besieged on all sides, the city has become a graffiti-coated, garbage-filled, crime-ridden cauldron, teetering on the edge of total collapse. Adding to New York's towering woes, a revolutionary group called the Satanic Vanguard has kidnapped the mayor, set fire to Coney Island, and threatened further mayhem. All that Gotham has to hope for are its resurgent Yankees, who've come back from the dead to reach the World Series by riding the arm of their quirky rookie phenom Nick “The Swan” Spillage. But Satan and his Vanguard plan to snuff that hope out too, they've targeted a young couple to help with their diabolical scheme. The rock and roll-loving pair—Joan and Eliot—came of age in the late 1960s when the counterculture peaked. They've lived together in New York's East Village for eight years, making sweet music on the subways while their beloved city crumbled around them. Then, in shades of the Faustian musical Damn Yankees, Joan develops an obsession with The Swan and makes a deal with the Devil to capture his heart. Meanwhile, Eliot wrestles with what it means to preserve his own soul as he makes a valiant effort to win her back and save the day. Spillage is a wickedly fun throwback to a chaotic time. At its heart, the novel is a love story and a search for identity in a world that's gone off the rails. Michael Gross began Spillage in 1976, the year the story takes place, while working as managing editor of Fiction magazine, teaching and earning his MfA at New York's City College. He also has a BA from Trinity College and an MBA from NYU, and was the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. In 1978, he embarked on a forty-five-year career in crisis communications, culminating in his serving as CEO of Finsbury (now FGS Global). He is married, has three children and three grandchildren, and divides his time between Brooklyn and Fire Island.https://www.spillagebook.com/___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Support the Show.___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/

He also serves as a Specially Appointed Commissioner at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and is an Ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society.Top Leadership Tip: Be focused: it's so easy to waste time on things that have little or no relevance to what you are doing. Most people waste at least half their time doing irrelevant stuff. Be effective: make what you are doing count, by making a difference. Don't put things off; do them now. Have fun: you are best at what you are most passionate about. And in pursuing what you like best, it's important to have fun. Welcome to the second in a new series of bonus podcasts from the AJ Bell Money & Markets team all about investment trusts. Published at the start of each month, the bonus podcast features a range of topics with investment experts and fund managers, with each episode debating some of the most popular trusts with retail investors, the big topics that matter, and a little bit of educational material to get listeners up to speed. This episode focuses on underperforming fund managers and mergers. Should you pay a fund manager to try and outperform or use a low-cost tracker fund that simply follows the market and doesn't try to beat it? It's a key conundrum for investors, particularly as many big-name fund managers have lagged the market in recent years. Dan Coatsworth debates this topic with Stuart Gray, co-portfolio manager at Alliance Trust. Nick Train-managed Finsbury Growth & Income is among the trusts that have underperformed over the past three years so Ian Conway and Steven Frazer from Shares magazine are on the podcast to discuss what the trust is trying to do and whether there are flaws to its strategy. Shares magazine's Tom Sieber also joins the podcast to talk about an investment trust that is shooting for the moon as it hopes to make money from investing in space. So far, Seraphim Space Investment Trust has delivered poor returns for shareholders who invested at its stock market debut in 2021. Dan chats with James Carthew, head of investment company research at QuotedData, about the growing trend for mergers in the investment trust space. We've also got Laith Khalaf to run through what it means if one of the trusts in your portfolio goes through a merger, takeover or decides to be shut down.

Tåler man å flytte Tomiyasu til motsatt back?

Los tracks incluidos:"The harder they come", Madness en Madstock 1992"One step beyond", Madness en Madstock 1992"Glamorous Glue", Morrisey"Crystal", New Order (del DVD '511 Finsbury Park')"R U Mine?", Arctic Monkeys Live at Finsbury Park 2014"I wanna be adored", The Stone Roses"Purple Haze", Jimi Hendrix"God save the Queen", Sex Pistols Live From Finsbury Park"New York", Sex Pistols Live From Finsbury Park See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
