One of the most important bands to emerge from Akron is The Bizarros. Making records that bridged hard rock to a proto-punk sound, their influence proved important to many bands, and has been regularly noted in such seminal chronicles of American punk rock as Clinton Heylin's “From the Velvets to the Voidoids” and Jon Savages' “England's Dreaming”, and numerous LP and CD compilations. FROM AKRON's own Nick Nicholis was and is the singer and lyricist of the band, who along with Jerry Parkins, Don Parkins, and Martyn Flunoy are still rockin', playing gigs and recording new music. We also pay tribute to original member, the late Terry Walker. In this episode, we go deep into their history, inspirations, and the bond that's kept them going for nearly fifty years. We'll also be playing some of their most noteworthy songs, along with some surprising deep cuts. This is a special episode - Don't miss it! Listen this Thursday, June 6, at 10 pm on The Summit FM, 91.3, or later on Apple, Spotify, Google, Podbean, SoundCloud, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts! (Thanks to Brad Savage)
A Coromandel leader says the reopening of a major road in the district has made a huge difference for businesses, residents and visitors. State Highway 25A, a major thoroughfare over the peninsula, re-opened in late December after extreme weather damage caused an 11-month closure. Local businesses suffered, with losses of more than $90 million in trading. Cafe and bars are saying the trade has improved dramatically. Thames-Coromandel deputy mayor Terry Walker spoke to Corin Dann.
Guest Minister Terry Walker speaks on God's Great Transfer of Wealth.
I've played countless shows there over the years and made some incredible memories with a lot of really special people and some incredible artists. This week we're chatting with my long time friend Terry Walker about the Wingham Town Hall Theatre, it's history and revival. We're also going to check in with Lisa Harper to talk about United Way Perth Huron and a big fundraising show they're bringing to theatre featuring Canada's Celtic rock warriors, The MUDMEN. Founding member Robbie Campbell will also join us.

Cyclone Gabrielle tore through the Coromandel Peninsula and effectively cut the region off from the country. 14 arterial roads in the district are flooded or blocked by slips, and a third of the region is out of power. Thames-Coromandel deputy mayor Terry Walker says Monday night was a destructive one for the Coromandel, with gale-force winds and 450 millilitres of rain landing in the region. Terry Walker says that the Thames-Coromandel area is resilient when it comes to extreme weather, but Cyclone Gabrielle has been especially tough on people. Steve catches Hawkins tending the fire as he hickory-smokes jalapeno and cheddar cheese-laced summer sausage, a six-hour process at 165 degrees. The two old friends use a third of the time to catch up on memories of their days with PKC hunting, with mutual friends like Tam and Clay Young and publisher Terry Walker. This one is also for the straight-talking good ole boys among us as Hawkins talks straight about today's dogs and hunters and the way things have gone in the hunts from his many experiences over the years. The boys talk on into the night as the smoker breaks down the fat and the back and forth renders some pretty solid content, proving that all coon hunting conversations are not just about good ole boys blowing smoke. Get yourself a beverage and savor the coon talk, Arkansas-style.
Guest speaker Ps. Terry Walker shares his powerful testimony of a life completely transformed by the goodness and grace of God at Rhema Family Church
Welcome to the inaugural podcast of Danforth Dialogues. Each month we will bring you leadership insights from a wide range of guests. We are going to start our series with insights gleaned as we and others faced the most challenging global health crisis in a century, the COVID-19 pandemic. Over time, we will transition to other leadership insights that we hope will help you no matter your profession. We will also occasionally feature longer podcasts of conversations of significance with key leaders from a broad array of backgrounds including business, government, healthcare, and education. Morehouse School of Medicine is an independent, free-standing medical school founded in 1975 to educate physicians and other medical professionals to work in underserved urban and rural communities that have historically lacked access to quality healthcare. The medical school was started as a two-year institution at Morehouse College. As you may know, Morehouse College is the alma mater of a number of African American men who have or continue to be models of leadership in our country including Dr. Martin Luther King, former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, former political icon Julian Bond, noted actor Samuel L. Jackson and, of course, the founding Dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine and former U. S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Louis W. Sullivan. With that kind of legacy of leadership, it seemed appropriate for us to return to our roots for our series and we are bringing you this podcast for the iconic and historic Danforth Chapel on the Morehouse College campus. Danforth, a small, picturesque chapel tucked away on the campus, is the perfect place to host the podcast because of its own unique history. William Danforth, former president of the Ralston-Purina Company, provided funds to build 15 Danforth Chapels on college campuses from the late 1930s to the mid-1950s. But the Morehouse chapel, built in 1955, is the only one at a Historically Black College and University; it’s one of a kind, and that inspired us to name our podcast, Danforth Dialogues. We are pleased to have Rev. Terry Walker, Director of Chapel Relations at Morehouse College, join us today to provide some more background on the Danforth Chapel at Morehouse College. In this 'Under the Strap' episode, host T.J. Auclair welcomes caddie Terry Walker. Walker has spent the last several years on the bag of PGA Tour winner Andrew Landry. Nothing was off limits in this podcast, as Walker takes us through his journey in life, the struggles he's endured and what he's been doing to get through it all.
Saugatuck on Sunday is a local show that talks about what is going on in the Saugatuck/Douglas area. Every city has its ‘scene' those spaces where groups of people with a similar aesthetic, value system or art discipline or music style find each other. Well in London the jazz, soul, session musician scene is on one hand really big yet on the other really tiny - everyone knows each other and if they don't, they'll know someone who knows someone you know. And it's through this same scene that I met today's guest, vocalist and songwriter Heidi Vogel.Heidi has toured the world opening for artists such as Erykah Badu; performed at Montreux Jazz festival for Quincy Jones; performed at many of the world's major festivals and on the finest stages including Cape Town Jazz Festival, London's Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury, the Sydney Opera House, Coachella, Central Park Summerstage in New York, North Sea Jazz & Blue Note Jazz Festivals. She's performed and/or recorded with some incredible artists, Bobby Mcferrin, Thundercat, Isaac Hayes, Moses Sumney, Miguel Attwood Ferguson, Chick Korea, Hermeto Pascoal and some of the UK's most established artists on the scene (that seen I was telling you about) Soweto Kinch, Tawiah, Roots Manuva, Ty, Terry Walker to name a few.We talk about our love of making lists and reaching musical milestones that seem to elude us. This was a really honest conversation about what it's like being a working musician, about lifelong learning, about being too hard on yourself at times because I think artists who are really passionate about what they do live, to quote Heidi in ‘devotion to the art'.You'll hear a lot of laughter and a lot of reminiscing and hopefully you'll not only hear a beautiful voice but a generous, open and deep-thinking person.Guest: Heidi VogelTitle: I'm on a journey of who I want to become as a musicianIG: @heidilevoHeidi's songs from her album 'Turn up the Quiet': Medo De AmarDindi (feat. Dr. Charles Kessler (Bela Lugosi), a well-to-do physician who shares his mansion with his daughter, Virginia (Polly Ann Young), has been depressed ever since his wife (Betty Compson) left him for another man, only to later die in a car accident. That's not all Kessler has to worry about, however. Unexplained murders have begun to occur around town, eventually claiming members of his house staff.
