This month my beautiful princess celebrated her 4th Birthday. As usual, my wife decorated the house for our child's party. Unbenounced to me, being the typical dad who lets mom select the theme for each birthday, my wife chose a Disney Princess theme. After entering the house, from a long day at work, I was greeted with decorations hanging from the ceiling. I was very shocked and surprised to witness multiple white/Caucasian females literally dangling over my head. I carefully analyzed what I was viewing. I processed it and made a discovery. The birthday package of princesses carefully and strategically selected an eclectic range of princesses. Strangely, when they put they posed the animated princesses in a group picture, they elected to omit princess Tiana. Of course I became infuriated. The disregard for the Black Princess has, once again, been confirmed. I am not a fan of the princess theme for black girl due to the fact that there aren't enough black princesses to begin with. Why should my daughter be forced to celebrate herself as a princess with majority non-black princesses as her image?I was raised in a household where white dolls were not allowed. My father was not racist, but, he did not like white people. He stated to me that it was based on his experience growing up in Sout Carolina. #although I'm not a racist, in any way, I chose to adopt the same rule in my household. I chose to follow in my father's footsteps as a way to teach my daughter to embrace black beauty first. I want her to be secure in herself, her skin, her hair and all her black features. I myself was not banned from playing with white figurines as a child. I, personally, do not feel that white G.I. Joe toys has any effect on how my confidence a black body develops as a man. But, I do believe that playing with white long haired dolls influences what a little black girl recognizes as beautiful. It is my job as a dad to protect. mentor and nurture my daughters confidence and self esteem.#selfconfidence #blackfathers #blackmen#blackdads #blackwomen #BlackFatherResponsibilities #BlackFemaleInecurities #reactions #hallebailey #hallebailey #thelittlemermaid #blackgirl #BlackGirlMagic #SelfConfidence #LowSelfEsteemSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4Bw0FVNv5DzefGfz8kmFlt?si=ROOv399zSuSaQyFcobmoLQApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/in-for-uestioning-with-ah-kim/id1602941134

What was Aussie bush life like back over 100 years ago?'We Of The Never Never & The Little Black Princess' by Jeannie Gunn are 2 separate stories (combined into 1 book) of her recollections living in the remote bush at the Elsey Cattle Station in the Northern Territory. The first story is of her maturation into a dependable missus and the characteristics of the people living in the outback. The second story is of Bett-Bett, an aboriginal girl who lives on the homestead for a short period where Mrs Gunn learns of the bizarre and astounding aspects of aboriginal culture.I summarised the book as follows. "It's decent writing and something completely new for me. I found it to be a pretty authentic view of Aussie bush culture, bush folk and of bush land. It gave me a new perspective of Aboriginal customs, both the ridiculous superstitious parts and the fun jovial parts. As we grow, unconscious unity becomes differentiated into feeling, ego, personality and desire. As we grow, we will have initiatory encounters with shadow, demanding the sacrifice of innocence and identification with ego. The story of Adam and Eve conceives this archetypal experience as the fall. The stories of Job, Faust and even the children’s tale, The Velveteen Rabbit, tell us how we may achieve redemption from a fall. The fairytale of The Black Princess depicts this vividly as the struggle to engage shadow and the need to surrender to something greater, which Jung called the Self. We experience redemption as grace: the gift of a relationship with the Self. For Jung redemption was part of the work of individuation, a process of reclaiming lost or forgotten parts of ourselves in order to become consciously whole and in relation to a guiding Self. Dream "In my dream, my mom and I are in the backyard that is adjacent to a street. We see Jimmy Fallon walking over to us with a baby's car seat held over his head. Jimmy greets us and my mom asks if she could see the baby. So, Jimmy lowers the car seat, sets it on the ground and reveals that the car seat is filled with this orange liquid that completely submerges the baby. My mom was very excited to see the baby and Jimmy smiles at her excitement. I then panic and ask them if they can't see the baby is drowning. Although I brought it to their attention they didn't seem very worried but I wound up tipping the car seat over to discard the liquid."
