On this week's edition of the Africa Fintech Rising podcast, Eugene Tawiah (Co-Founder & CEO, SecondSTAX) sits down with Andrew to discuss the role that SecondSTAX is playing in revolutionizing how Africans and corporates interact with and invest in African capital markets. Despite having some of the best-performing stocks and bonds globally, Africa's exchanges are largely inaccessible to investors outside the jurisdictions where they have been listed. Over the last decade, African capital markets have raised more than US$ 246 billion in debt capital markets. More than US$ 87 billion has been raised in equity capital markets and equity indices have peaked at over 50% growth across the major regional exchanges. However, the siloed nature of these exchanges as well as insufficient data on the risk profiles of assets has led to limited access to capital for markets and limited access to high-growth assets for investors. SecondSTAX is the first and only portal for investment firms to directly invest in all stocks and bonds on exchanges in multiple African countries, with SecondSTAX's transparent, easy-to-use, cloud-based portal investors can invest in their native currencies, making a wider range of assets and opportunities available to more Africans and creating an efficient route to increased wealth on the continent.

Every city has its ‘scene' those spaces where groups of people with a similar aesthetic, value system or art discipline or music style find each other. Well in London the jazz, soul, session musician scene is on one hand really big yet on the other really tiny - everyone knows each other and if they don't, they'll know someone who knows someone you know. And it's through this same scene that I met today's guest, vocalist and songwriter Heidi Vogel.Heidi has toured the world opening for artists such as Erykah Badu; performed at Montreux Jazz festival for Quincy Jones; performed at many of the world's major festivals and on the finest stages including Cape Town Jazz Festival, London's Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury, the Sydney Opera House, Coachella, Central Park Summerstage in New York, North Sea Jazz & Blue Note Jazz Festivals. She's performed and/or recorded with some incredible artists, Bobby Mcferrin, Thundercat, Isaac Hayes, Moses Sumney, Miguel Attwood Ferguson, Chick Korea, Hermeto Pascoal and some of the UK's most established artists on the scene (that seen I was telling you about) Soweto Kinch, Tawiah, Roots Manuva, Ty, Terry Walker to name a few.We talk about our love of making lists and reaching musical milestones that seem to elude us. This was a really honest conversation about what it's like being a working musician, about lifelong learning, about being too hard on yourself at times because I think artists who are really passionate about what they do live, to quote Heidi in ‘devotion to the art'.You'll hear a lot of laughter and a lot of reminiscing and hopefully you'll not only hear a beautiful voice but a generous, open and deep-thinking person.Guest: Heidi VogelTitle: I'm on a journey of who I want to become as a musicianIG: @heidilevoHeidi's songs from her album 'Turn up the Quiet': Medo De AmarDindi (feat. Jabari ‘Barz’ Tawiah is a Grammy award winning Engineer & Producer based in Oakland California. His engineering work with fellow Oakland based artist Fantastic Negrito helped garner him notoriety both in the community and in the recording industry. We nerded out on audio for a bit, dabbled in a little bit of history of music production, and talked about the many ways that technology has changed the industry. It is safe to say that all of us listen to and consume some kind of music, so let’s get into this conversation about the creative process that fuels our favorite songs. We have ALL been there before. The stylist cancelled on us and we are left to fend for ourselves. By the time we realize we are left to our own devices, the beauty supply store is about to close and it too far way to make it. Well, Diva by Cindy has a solution. A natural hair care vending machine. Used at our convenience and all the products are ACTUALLY made for our hair. Can it really get any better than that? Of course. If you’re thinking about getting into the beauty industry, you can have the option of getting your piece of the beauty pie, by franchising the vending machine. Cindy shares her phenomenal story about getting kicked out of a coveted store front at the airport by a Major beauty brand to now being the first to engineer a vending machine that would not only cater to hair care needs but the hair care needs to the natural hair community. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this interview and left so inspired.
