Is COP30 shaping up to be the worst UN climate conference ever? The 30th Conference of the Parties is underway in the Brazilian jungle — some of which was cleared and paved to bring the private jet-set and bureaucrats into the venue. And just days in, the whole thing is already descending into chaos.A large group of angry indigenous protesters have stormed the conference, furious that the agenda left them out. Poor planning and shoddy infrastructure have led to rain leaking through light fixtures, broken air conditioning, and even problems with something as basic as toilet paper disposal.Maybe sensing this impending farce, at least 30 major countries — including the United States — have declined to send official government delegations. We're only a few days in, and it's already looking like the worst COP ever. Paul Martz is an award-winning science fiction author, technology blogger, and former punk rock drummer. At age six, he saw 2001: A Space Odyssey on the big screen, which lead him to a collection of Arthur C. Clarke's short stories and a lifelong insatiable appetite for mind-bending science fiction. His short stories can be found at Amazing Stories, Uncharted Magazine, Creepy Podcast, and many others.  Paul is totally blind, but losing his eyesight hasn't slowed him down. He co-edited last year's RMFW anthology, Without Brakes, Fingers Crossed. And he competes in Rubik's Cube speedsolving competitions. His new non-fiction book, Solve It! No soy maestro de nada ni me creo más que nadie. Maestro sólo hay uno y nos mira desde el cielo. No soy dueño de nada; toma y deja ir; coge y suelta, recibe y dona, ama y perdona. Este programa de radio lo hago pensando en los buenos seres humanos que viven amando, pero especialmente lo hago pensando en aquéllos menos amados por los demás. Los que sufren la incomprensión, los refugiados de guerra, los que viven rodeados de violencia, los que padecen enfermedades, los que tienen el alma herida, los que han perdido la esperanza, los que sufren por desamor, los que han perdido algún ser querido, los que han perdido la alegría de vivir. Sentir que aunque sea por un instante puedo llevar una sonrisa a una persona me reconforta.
