On this episode, Bryce Rossler and Matt Manocherian are joined by Big Cat (aka Dan Katz). The three of them played a game in which Big Cat renamed some of our stats based on how he viewed them and which NFL players he was reminded of in hearing the description of the stat. For example, Big Cat renamed targets above expectation after Keyshawn "Give Me The Damn Ball" Johnson and blown blocks after Tony Mandarich. They also discussed Ben Johnson's hiring in Chicago, the legitimacy of the tush push, whether the Chiefs' defense is overrated and whether concerns about their offensive line is justified (we'll do a much bigger Super Bowl preview next week).Off The Charts features a blend of statistical insights, tactical analysis, and personal opinions, aimed at providing listeners with a comprehensive understanding of the week's key matchups and the intricacies of the sport. You can have the most diverse group of people and get all the resources, but if they don't feel a part of the organization, it doesn't matter. They're not going to be happy.” “Communicating is uncomfortable, and getting your feelings out is uncomfortable. But you have to do it to be able to grow as an individual and grow with the people around you.” “Just because you have something to say doesn't mean you should say it. And in fact, sometimes silence speaks louder than words.” “With our education system, you get a job, and you're gonna stay in that job for the next 50 years. And that's going to be your career. But what people fail to remember is that your personality, your hopes and dreams, they change every five years.” “Success is not comparing yourself to anyone else and developing your relationship and empathy skills.” “When you become grateful for life, and you start to look at people, everyone has this beautiful story, and everyone is unique.” “Pain leads to purpose, which leads to a platform in that order.   TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com    Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com    97X     PODBEAN   Apple Podcast      The worst and the best draft picks and the grades given them…  First off my son is a sports writer for YES… Chicago sports, but also The Bills and the Ravens. This weekend he was busy 3 days straight 24/7 with analysis, writing, creating content, social media posts etc…  So I know a little about football… however with that being said these are not my grades these are straight from the NFL website… so cool your jets if you get mad at me and speaking of Jets… They were dead last in the grade… now yes they spent a mint on Aaron Rodgers… and he is a stud player… wait Garth are you giving the packers some credit…no I still hate the packers but I have never knocked talent - no matter how much I hate the packers… and of course this is sports hate, not biblical hate. And speaking of packers… yikes… did they take a nap or was everyone on Benadryl… how do you fail like that after losing the best QB in football…  hey if you break up with your girlfriend and she is a 11 out of 10… you better be lining up at least a 10 if not a 13… but the packers landed 2's and 3's….  They were rated the 5th worst draft team this year.. but lets talk about the top few teams… the Steelers did great, the eagles… I think they paid people off they did so well. The Bears were rated an A and scored in the top 5. Why all this talk about the draft… When you look at the worst draft picks in the history of the NFL you see a few trends… No work ethic (all the talent in the world, but not willing to sacrifice) Jamarcus russell Horrible relationship skills - ryan Leaf his own teammates hated him… I think maybe his mother did too. Tony Mandarich… what could have been. he believed his own hype, he was an ego maniac or as I like to call him an Ego Mandarich… Charles Rogers… played 15 games… OVER 3 SEASONS… inconsistent was his name'O Many of these guys were found out after the draft… found out they were drug users, Attitude junkies, Ego maniacs, lazy… the list goes on.  What if I ran a draft for building a Jesus team of 11 Men of God… the 11 positions would range from Healing, teaching, preaching, evangelism, worship, Wisdom, Miracles, Faith, Spiritual warfare, Serving, and of course Giving Here are a few questions…  Do you even play?  Would we even look at you? Do you have a track record? Do you currently play for a great team… great prospects typically come from great colleges… Do you go to a great church for Xn growth? Would you get solid references from your coaches about punctuality, attitude, work ethic… who are your coaches… your head coach if you are married would be your spouse, then your kids, then your pastors, your boss, your parents and finally your neighbors. Look the truth is, you are on a team wether you like it or not if you are a Christ follower… Step up and live up to the price paid for your draft.  You might look at yourself and say Garth I don't have what it takes to be in the NFL let alone in the MFL… Men of faith league… But Paul tells us in Romans 8 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [d]through His Spirit who dwells in you. That is your super power, you have Jesus living inside of you…  Rookie Sam Bradford got paid 70 million… he did not live up to it… Jesus paid for you with his life… don't be a Sam Bradford. - you have been drafted, You have been empowered… no go live up to the hype.

My Dirty Little Secrets with Tony Mandarich Former offensive lineman Tony Mandarich is proof that recovery works. Selected second in the 1989 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers, Tony had stellar expectations set for him. At 6' 5" and 330 pounds, he was a big guy and admittedly had the ego to match. Although alcohol and drugs weren't initially an issue for Tony, he had been using steroids regularly for years. "It can certainly be argued, that for me, steroids were a gateway drug." Not long into his seven-year stint in Green Bay, Tony started abusing pain pills. His progressive drug use and drinking had a severe impact on his performance, and he was eventually let go by the team. In March of 1995, Tony entered treatment and started attending a 12 Step program. After cleaning his life up, he returned to the NFL for three years to play with the Indianapolis Colts for three more seasons. Today he's now been sober for over 26 years. His book, "My Dirty Little Secrets — Steroids, Alcohol & God," details his story in the hopes of helping others that have struggled with addiction. You can learn more about Tony at TonyMandarich.com, and you can find his book on Amazon. Do you want to take your recovery to the next level? Browns win a playoff game finally, and we review Pittsburgh's many issues including Big Ben, Mike Tomlin, and trash talking. We also discuss the other games, including Russell Wilson having a disappointing performance. Nickelodeon had a fun broadcast for the Bears Saints game and Barstool Sports hijacked their “NVP” vote for Mitch Trubisky. The NBA is having major coronavirus issues either the Sixers playing with only 7 players, and the Celtics missing nearly their entire frontcourt. Fails include Browns players drag racing, ESPN getting duped by a fake Adam Schefter, and Armie Hammer possibly being a cannibal. Tony Mandarich is our failed athlete of the week and we also preview the Rams Packers game. Finally, Winners & Losers focuses on the most overachieving and underachieving players this season. Listen to this episode to hear how resilience, perseverance, and being fed up led one man to turn his life around from addiction and commit to a different kind of success and lifestyle—sobriety.Listen to this episode nowMore than just footballTony’s story is much more than just football. He starts by sharing his family background, how they escaped communism and immigrated from Croatia to a small town in Canada. As a young kid, Tony vividly remembers being 11 years old and writing down his dreams of one day playing in the NFL. When Tony turned 16, he realized he could not be scouted in Canada. He shares his brothers sacrifice to move him down to the States, and how that move was the beginning of everything. However, the fame, the success, the glory—Tony’s story is behind it all. For him, football is the platform and tool to carry his greater message. Addiction to “I’m done”He shares the moments and thoughts that led up to the first time he injected steroids, the psychological effects that are ten times more extreme than the physical ones, the three tragic events that spiraled him to his breaking point, and the specific events that led to him getting sober from alcohol and painkillers. Although Tony isn’t proud of some of his past, he has changed his virtues and values to align with who he wants to be. He uses football as a means to share his story, his addiction, his sobriety, and to give others hope. He speaks out about how he had nothing to lose anymore because he had lost everything and himself—how even if you are in a storm of pain, it’s important to trust that there is beauty on the other side. Tony MandarichToday, Tony is a successful and world-renowned photographer and public speaker. After retiring from football, he perfected his own craft as a professional photographer and achieved prominence and recognition for his uniquely compelling images. He lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. The goal is to get back to that innocence of what’s really fucking important 12:00 - tracyIf that's the competition, I need to up my game. 13:30 - tonyI need to catch up and when I catch up, i need to surpass 24:00 - tonyIn my opinion i think marijuana is more of a gateway. 27 - tonyIts crazy the lengths we will go to not feel and to take things to the next level. 30:15 - tracyIn order to rebuild the foundation you have to level it completely. 32:35 - tracyI had a bottle of 90 painkillers and i took 8-10 of them. 35:20 tonyI could watch them slipping out of the bottle into the air, into the water into the toilet and dissolving because they are made of gelatin and i remember the two words I said to myself, I’m done. In a draft that produced four Hall of Famers in the first five picks, it was that one pick that missed that most people remember. My guest today Tony Mandarich was that pick.   Selected 2ndoverall by the Green Bay Packers, in the 1989 NFL draft, Tony was selected behind number one overall pick Troy Aikman and just ahead of Barry Sanders and Derrick Thomas followed by the amazing Dion Sanders.   All became stars while Tony…….   This is a truly fascinating story, from a high school boy who couldn’t complete one push up at his first football practice, Tony went on to become one of the most feared competitors in college football. At one stage Tony was labelled by Sports Illustrated as the best offensive line prospect of all time.   So, where did it all go wrong?   Listen in now to hear the complete, unfiltered truths of Tony’s time with the Green Bay Packers, and his unceremonious dumping from the league.   Be sure to stay till the end of the show to hear one of the most amazing comeback stories in sporting history. After spending 3 years battling drug and alcohol addiction, Tony checks into rehab and manages to get sober completing miracle number 1.   Miracle number 2, with a new lease on life and a new energy and resilience, Tony gets back in the weight room, gets in great shape, and somehow finds a way to make it back in the NFL, when he signed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts where he played for the next three seasons.   In his life after Sports, Tony has pursued his other great passion – Photography. His work can be found at tonymandarich.com   Of course, a story this large can’t be told in a short podcast, so now is the time to go make yourself a cup of tea, relax and enjoy listening to ‘Your Next Big Game’ episode 2, with Tony Mandarich.

As Tony Mandarich left Green Bay in February, 1993, his football career in shambles, Packer Plus staff writer, Tom Mulhern, wrote the following: "The overriding sentiment, however, is one of emptiness. Not so much for promises unfulfilled, but for sins not repented. Maybe some day Mandarich will set the record straight and answer all the nagging questions he leaves behind. I hope so." For all the sports writers, fans, coaches, friends and family, My Dirty Little Secrets sets the record straight.
