Today, we're discussing the tragic murder of Austin Metcalf — a case that's not just heartbreaking but deeply revealing of a larger cultural crisis we need to address head-on. I'll be sharing my raw thoughts on what happened, and more importantly, having the uncomfortable (but necessary) conversation surrounding crime statistics in the black community. If we're ever going to see real change — fewer senseless killings, safer neighborhoods, and stronger families — then we have to stop tiptoeing around the truth. It's time to talk about why these patterns keep repeating and what cultural shifts must happen to break the toxic and deadly cycle. This isn't about hate — it's about accountability, truth, and the fight for life, stability, and genuine justice.—https://policecoffee.com/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAACG7qmLTSF8TidU6uJpGkHMYzxsnd&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqcO_BhDaARIsACz62vPh4GA_6w_PdX8w4PW0sRhPD76KOyhYBmiEOdpiLXHP1G10c9kaPMEaAkK-EALw_wcB
This time, Chris Shiflett sits down with fellow west coaster Craig Ross, who calls in from Madrid equipped with a lawsuit-era Ibanez 2393. The two buddies kick things off commiserating over an increasingly common tragedy for guitarists: losing precious gear in natural disasters. The takeaway? Don't leave your gear in storage! Take it on the road! Ross started out in the Los Angeles band Broken Homes, influenced by Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles, but his big break came when he auditioned for Lenny Kravitz. Kravitz phoned him up the next day to tell him to be at rehearsal that evening. In 1993, they cut one of their biggest hits ever, “Are You Gonna Go My Way?” Ross explains that it came together from a loose, improvisatory jam in the studio—testament to the magic that can be found off-leash during studio time. Ross recalls his rig for recording the solo, which consisted of just two items: Kravitz's goldtop Les Paul and a tiny Gibson combo. (No fuzz or drive pedals, sorry Chris.) As Ross remembers, he was going for a Cream-era Clapton sound with the solo, which jumps between pentatonic and pentatonic major scales. Tune in to learn how he frets and plays the song's blistering lead bits, plus learn about what amps Ross is leaning on these days. The nuclear family is the backbone of a strong society—without it, we will crumble. In this episode, we're talking about Elon Musk's latest love child with Ashley St. Clair and why Conservatives cannot fall into the trap of normalizing single motherhood and reckless men who create broken families. Strong individuals come from strong families. When the family unit collapses, people become weak, directionless, and ultimately easier for the government to exploit. The more broken the home, the more dependent the individual. And guess who loves that? The people in power who want control over your life. So, we are talking biblical gender roles, marriage, family, and why morals will always matter—even if they stop mattering to everyone else. A father's leadership and a mother's nurturing aren't interchangeable, and no amount of modern delusion will change that. Children need both a mother and a father in the home. And no, morals don't change for you once you're rich. Wh*re culture needs to die because the next generation is at stake.--https://policecoffee.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooc599VmOCGa3oE2DnVcJ4uLA69XDoBZf8ChiOpFqVfKc_BASiR

I had the opportunity to bring one of my childhood friends Ezekiel on and to be honest, I was quite nervous about this recording. As I am looking through this footage, I've realized that the depth of my childhood and the hardships that both Ezekiel and I shared is literally how we talked. I hope you all enjoy or at least learned a thing or two from this honest conversation but yet hold onto God's heart behind His Will and know that we are put here for a reason and purpose: to speak truth, mercy, and grace. I see you all next time. God bless you:) As always for Season 2, we are inspired by this scripture: Matthew 5:9: " Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God." For one hot moment, Broken Homes were the buzzed-about new band in LA, and big success was ahead. It never materialized. The band cut 3 albums for MCA, but they went nowhere. On this episode, we dig into a track from their first album, one of my favorite LP's from the '80's and a real "desert island" record for me. The album never came out on CD, but if you can track down a copy on vinyl, I highly recommend it. "An L.A. Rain" (Mike Doman) Copyright 1986 Learn more about your ad choices. We had some things to say about the recent interview with Dr. Bryant and Cam Newton. The point of emphasis on this recording is the broken homes that Cam Newton seems to be creating. We do have some understanding and compassion for Cam Newton, based on the reality that most men live a much more "normal" life than Cam Newton does. Considering this, we still double down on our thoughts of the possible concerns for men creating broken homes and the impact it could have on children. We are committed to having REAL conversations in effort to help men be better. Not only for themselves, but for our society. We're working to change the narrative on men, one podcast at a time. Have you ever heard the phrase that 'children always bounce back'? This is the topic Michelle discusses in today's episode, sharing her own story about how a broken home affected her own childhood. She challenges the idea that children always bounce back from divorce, and emphasizes the long-lasting negative impact it can have on their lives. Michelle recounts her own experience of losing her mother at just four years old, being faced with multiple stepmothers and the sexualization she encountered both at home and at school. She discusses her own journey of healing, and the need for support and understanding in acknowledging childhood trauma. KEY TAKEAWAYSChildren don't always bounce back from a broken home and the impact can last for a long time.Experiencing a broken home can have negative effects on a child's education and future.Sexualization of children, especially girls, can have long-lasting impacts on their lives.A broken home and the associated trauma can lead to self-destructive beliefs and insecurities. It takes time and effort, with the help of God, to heal from the effects of a broken home and turn disadvantages into advantages.BEST MOMENTS"We can't just do anything and behave any way we want in our families and expect a broken home to not negatively impact our children. That's just unfair.""To say that children just bounce back after they have lost one of their parents to divorce... is really a salve on the part of the parents, they want to make themselves feel better.""A broken home, a breakdown in the marriage and a breakdown in the family is a trauma. It's what we would call an adverse childhood event.""Trauma affects brain architecture. It actually affects the structure of the brain. It affects the neural pathways. And yes, God can heal that. But it can take years of working with God to understand why we feel the way we do as an adult who has been through a broken home as a child." "Please remember, children are children. They don't always just bounce back. Some of them go on to have some real problems and dependencies and have horrible insecurities." It's been a very fun 2024 in AEW, to our intense relief! Samoa Joe is doing everything he can to get Swerve and Hangman's attention, with little success — whatever, he's only the world champion! Danny Garcia is continuing to experiment with FTR, clearly because of his BROKEN HOME. Matt Jackson is thoroughly in boymode and getting praise for it, which we have not failed to notice. OC and Matt Taven had a kickass Texas Death Match while Roddy continued to look like a dweeb, and the women's division is absolutely cooking! O brave new world etc etc! 00:00 Chitchat Time08:39 Samoa Joe, Swerve, and Hangman16:30 Adam Copeland and Danny Garcia31:04 Young Bucks and Darby Allin49:15 Orange Cassidy and The Undisputed Kingdom1:00:33 Blackpool Combat Club1:10:05 Deonna Purrazzo and Toni Storm1:15:06 Willow, Kris, and StokelySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/social-suplex-podcast-network/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
Bill Courtney is an accomplished businessman, speaker, award winning film subject and writer, and the founder of Classic American Hardwoods, Inc., a company that employs 120 people with a 45 acre manufacturing facility and domestic sales offices boasting in excess of $45 million in annual sales. He is also a nationally recognized and sought-after speaker keynoting at a variety of venues from the Para Olympics in Colorado Springs to Nike, Frito Lay, FedEx, and other nationally recognized companies. In this episode of the Dad Edge Podcast, Bill Courtney shares his three rules when it comes to playing time and dealing with helicopter parents. He emphasizes that asking to play won't guarantee more playing time and encourages parents to have conversations off the field about anything other than playing time. Coach Bill Courtney also opens up about his challenging upbringing, including the absence of his father and the traumatic experiences he faced growing up. Bill Courtney grew up in a broken home, with his parents divorcing when he was just four years old. His father passed away recently, and he had no relationship with him. His mother, on the other hand, was married and divorced five times, exposing him to various father figures who were often worse than his absent father. This lack of stability and constant changes in his family structure undoubtedly had a profound impact on his childhood. Childhood trauma can have long-lasting effects on individuals, often leading to negative outcomes. However, it is essential to recognize that resilience can be fostered even in the face of adversity. Bill's story serves as an inspiration, showing that it is possible to rise above one's circumstances and build a successful and fulfilling life. This conversation highlights Bill's journey from a childhood filled with dysfunction and trauma to becoming a resilient and successful individual. His ability to forgive, excel in sports, and find healing demonstrates the impact of childhood trauma on shaping resilience. This story serves as a reminder that resilience can be cultivated, even in the face of significant challenges, and that childhood trauma does not have to define a person's future. The choice to be a rock, as advocated by Coach Spain, empowers individuals to rise above their circumstances and become symbols of strength and resilience. www.thedadedge.com/friday130 1stphorm.com/dadedge www.normalfolks.us www.coachbillcourtney.com
