About the book: Sixteen million mutants dead - and that was just the beginning! In one bold stroke, writer Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman, Batman) propelled the X-Men into the 21st century, masterminding a challenging new direction for Marvel's mutant heroes that began with the destruction of Genosha and never let up. Regarded as the most innovative thinker of the current comic-book renaissance, Morrison proceeded to turn the mutant-hero genre on its ear. Gone were the gaudy spandex costumes - replaced by slick, black leather and an attitude to match. Now, his entire Eisner Award-nominated run on New X-Men is collected across three titanic trade paperbacks! Collects New X-Men #114-126, and Annual 2001.

Kicking off our second episode (in segmented form) of From Claremont to Claremont, Jody (@regalfan) and I dig right back into X-Men (vol.2) - and talk a whole lot about the debabying of Magneto! The Many Lives of Moira X have never been quite so scandalous... well, maybe. Also, Jody sits in for the dreaded "Pod-File" segment, wherein I ask him all of the nutty questions Marvel Staffers used to be asked in the "Pro-File" section of the Bullpen Bulletins of Marvel Comics back in the long ago! Some comic book characters need no introduction. They've been around so long or have gotten so much media attention, just seeing an image of them brings thoughts of their origins, their greatest victories and most crushing defeats. Then there are those characters that came and went, but left an impact with a few readers. Either due to their bizarreness or their uniqueness, these few characters have left a lasting impression on us. And the rest of the world must know how great they are! This episode of My Big Fat Pull List, we're turning all our searchlights towards one person. A mutant. A hero. An X-Man. Let's look at Maggott during our Most Wanted! The X-Men. A team of heroes made up of mutants, a subspecies of humans who are born with superhuman abilities, activated by the “X Gene”. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, the characters first appeared in September of 1963 in The X-Men #1. They are among the most recognizable and successful intellectual properties of Marvel Comics, appearing in numerous books, television shows, films, and video games. Inside this episode of My Big Fat Pull List, our O.G.s try to tackle the mountain that is Marvel's X-Mythology. With a lot of ground to cover the guys decide to focus on their favorite X-Moments as well as underlying themes, underrated characters, book rosters, and even creating their own fantasy X-Teams! A little something different for your Saturday! Your humble host has been long dragging his feet on releasing the next full (12+ hour long) episode of From Claremont to Claremont: An X-Men Podcast - however, today I'm dropping the segment where Jody Yerdon (@regalfan) and I discuss the final issue of the Chris Claremont run - X-Men (vol.2) #3 (December, 1991). In addition to covering the issue itself, we also include a bit of a "hook" in that Jody (along with the rest of the FCTC hosts) will share with us the "Soundtrack of Their Life" - It's a very fun conversation - and I hope you all enjoy, and maybe even share some of the songs that would be on your own playlists! For the handful of folks who even remember that FCTC was even a "thing", I apologize for taking forever to start releasing these! -- The First Two Episodes of From Claremont to Claremont: Episode 1 https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-5rv7d-d8251c Episode 2 https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-cmb5r-db1878 -- @acecomics / @cosmictmill / weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.podbean.com chrisisoninfiniteearths.com facebook.com/groups/90sxmen

In this episode, Chris welcomes his co-host from the “Marvel Alliance” podcast and host of the “GeekVerse” podcast Travis Snell to look at one of his favorite comic book arcs, “Ultimate X-Men: The Tomorrow People”. Writer Mark Millar with pencilers Adam and Andy Kubert ushers in one of the biggest reboots for the X-Men where you may see familiar characters, but they are not always the way you remember them because this is the Ultimate Universe! In the inaugural arc, the government begins building and releasing Sentinels to hunt mutants after the Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy declares war against humans. Charles Xavier sends Jean Gray on a scouting mission to find mutants with powerful abilities to help launch a positive face on mutant-kind before Magneto and his brotherhood of mutants can provoke an all-out war.•Geek Ultimate Alliance on Twitter: @GUAPodNetworkWFTB on Twitter: @FinestBelieversWFTB Email: worldsfinesttruebelievers@gmail.comChris on Twitter: @ChrisBalgaTravis on Twitter: @TravisBSnellGeekVerse Podcast on Twitter: @GeekVerseCastGeekVerse: https://geekverse.ca Marvel Alliance Podcast on Twitter: @MarvelAPodcast

We're going to the chapel as we deviate just slightly from our regularly scheduled programming. As we prepare for the Sundance film festival in Park City, Utah, we've recorded an episode straight from our hotel room! And it's a conversation we probably should have had way back at the beginning of our podcast when we tackled Scott Scummers & Jean Grey. Well, better late than never. Besides, this historic wedding is a significant moment in the romance between Rogue & Remy. Will they? Won't they? Does it matter? Let's get into it. As heard last week, we're using "8 Dates: Essential Conversations for a Lifetime of Love" as our relationship guide, and it came in quite handy on this episode. Trust. Boy, the X-Men sure do have issues with trust, but what about Brad & Lisa. Tune in to find out. The issue covered in this episode: Duh! X-Men Vol. 2 No. 30, written by Fabian Nicieza with art by Andy Kubert, inks by Matt Ryan, letters by Bill Oakley, and colors by Joe Rosas. Be sure to follow the podcast on Instagram and Twitter @CBCCPodcast, and you can follow the hosts @MouthDork & @sidewalksiren.
New Year, new X-couple! Rogue & Remy start as an impossible flirtation but eventually transform into one of the most popular pairings within the marvelous merry mutant family. Was their romance destined, or did it take a whole lot of painful communication to make it work? We begin where all stories should, in the beginning, witnessing their first awkward triflings, their first disastrous date, and the second one that sealed the deal. We dive systematically into the heyday of the 90s comic scene by hopping around a seemingly random batch of adjectiveless X-Men comics. To aid us in our conversation, because we're no experts, are the relationship gurus Drs. John Gottman, Julie Schwartz Gottman, Doug Abrams, and Rachel Carlton Abrams. We found that their book "Eight Dates: Essential Conversations for a Lifetime of Love" had plenty to say about the cat and mouse antics between Rogue and Gambit, and will easily serve as the backbone for this month's batch of episodes. Issues covered in this episode: X-Men Vol. 2 No. 3 - 4, X-Men Vol. 2 No. 8, and X-Men Vol. 2 No. 24. There are many times in the life and times of a comics enthusiast where walking away might be smartest option. Naturally, as comics enthusiasts, very seldom do we actually do so! Today, I'm going to share the story of the first time I ever "walked away". All that, and we get to go through a pretty great issue of X-Men! The concept of "walking away" is one I'm very interested in as a fan... and I would love to hear any stories you might have about times in which you might have stopped collecting or reading... why you finally pulled that trigger... and, since we're all still comics enthusiasts: what brought you back? -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com
Hello Fellow Hunters! This time out, I reminisce over my first-ever comics "white whale" as I discuss X-Men (vol.2) #8! Before hopping into the issue proper, we talk about where I started as a fan of the X-Men family of titles, how different the comic collector's journey looked for a kid growing up in the early-1990's, and how a love of lore turned into a life-long relationship with this particular franchise! Also, looking for Betamax tapes in Satanic Bookstores? Trust me, it all fits... sorta. -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com charltonhero.wordpress.com/
Host Brian Byrley is joined once again by "Loud Spice" Travis Tubesing & Matt Applegate to discuss X-Men Vol. 2 #4-7 & Uncanny X-Men #284-286. Topics include: 1. Jean is still a flirt 2. Colossus is all heart 3. Gambit > MJ & Lebron combined 4. Omega Red's first appearance 5. Sabretooth - a motha f'n godfather 6. Maverick is awesome 7. Psylocke is too...even if Matt disagrees
This week, we enroll in superhero school and dive deep into the most tangled corner of Marvel continuity in Wolverine & The X-Men, Vol. 1!
In this episode, Curt and Kevin conclude their trilogy of Marvel origins episodes with a look at the comic book beginnings of everyone's favorite mutants! Then, they gear up for the new season of FX's Legion with a look at the issue that inspired a key moment from the show! First, the comic that started it all: X-Men #1! Who are these mysterious teenagers with bizarre super-powers? Who is their stern, slightly scary taskmaster? And when the mysterious master of magnetism known as Magneto threatens a U.S. missile base, can our milquetoast mutants save the day? Next it's the book that launched the X-Men as we know them today: Giant-Size X-Men #1! When the X-Men are captured by a mysterious foe, Charles Xavier assembles a new squad to rescue them. This international mishmash of mutants—including Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus—has some impressive powers and even cooler costumes. But when it comes to defeating Krakoa, The Island That Walks Like a Man, do they have any chance atoll? And last but not least, Charles Xavier recounts his own quasi-origin story in Uncanny X-Men #117, including a no-holds-barred psychic skirmish with the nefarious Shadow King … a mental melee dramatized (after a fashion) in Legion's first season! Do these uncanny tales have what it takes to graduate to the top of that class of peerless periodicals known as … The Comics Canon? Things Discussed in This Episode: Curt's got Legion fever Were the original X-Men a cult? Jean Gray's problematic welcome The disappointing truth about what the “X” stands for The colorful diversity of Giant Size X-Men #1 Aye, an' Banshee sure is Irish, me boyo! The trouble with Thunderbird Kevin questions Krakoa's mutant bona fides The Hollywood backlot version of Cairo Our Jessica Jones episode Curt breaks down the blackboard scene from Legion X-Men: Schism Wolverine and the X-Men Vol. 1 X-Men: Deadly Genesis Join us in two weeks as we make a left turn at Albuquerque to discuss a pair of stories that pair DC superheroes with Looney Tunes characters: The Coyote Gospel from Grant Morrison's Animal Man and 2017's Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1! Until then, please rate us on iTunes, send us an email, or hit us up on Twitter or Facebook, and we may read your comments in an upcoming episode. And as always, thanks for listening!

http://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/id/6121556 We’re starting 2018 off right by going through the essential comic books for Scott Summers and Alex Summers. That’s right it's Cyclops and Havok time. Any chance we can get to talk X-Men, we’re going to leap at it. This was a fun episode to do because Cyclops and Havok have such long and rich histories not only with the X-Men but X-Factor as well. Scott Summers first appeared in X-Men #1 and Alex debuted in issue #54. Scott starts off as the boy scout and natural leader while Alex is more reluctant to lead and a bit more rebellious. Throughout their history in the comic books though, they gradually switch places as Alex becomes more of a team player & leader and Scott becomes a revolutionary. Some of Scott’s decisions through the years are tough to defend. After marrying Madelyne Pryor (the clone of Jean Grey), he ends up abandoning her and their child when he finds out Jean Grey is still alive. It’s a real shitty move. Years later, while recovering from Apocalypse messing with his head, he starts cheating on Jean psychically with Emma Frost. Hey, he might be a great team leader but his love life leaves a lot to be desired. But once mutant kind is facing extinction, it’s hard not to see why Scott makes some of the choices he does. You might not be full Team ‘Cyclops Was Right’ but the extreme choices makes are a direct result of having the weight of the entire mutant race on his soldiers. There are a few things we don’t cover here. First, we don’t cover the young, time displaced Cyclops. He’s basically become his own separate character and we might cover him at a later date. Second, the Summers bloodline is actually pretty complex and A LOT. So we limit this discussion to just Scott and Alex (with a touch of Gabriel). We’re going to cover Nathan (Cable) later on this year closer to Deadpool 2. Although, we do get a bit of him in The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. Here are some of the essential comic issues we covered: Scott Summers: Uncanny X-Men 1 - First appearance of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and the X-Men Classic X-Men 42 - Mister Sinister in the orphanage X-Men Giant Size #1 Uncanny 125 - 128 Dark Phoenix Saga X-Factor Vol 1 Uncanny X-Men 243 X-Men Vol 2 #1 - 3 #30 - Scott Summers marries Jean Grey Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix Search for Cyclops 1 - 4 New X-Men - Grant Morrison - #114 - 154 Astonishing X-Men - Joss Whedon Messiah Complex Schism Avengers vs X-Men Uncanny X-Men - Bendis Death of X Alex Summers: Uncanny X-Men 54 - First appearance of Alex Summers Uncanny X-Men 58 - First appearance of Alex Summers as Havok X-Factor Minus 1 Incredible Hulk #150 Uncanny X-Men Volume 1 Issue 158 Issues 233- 255 Wolverine/Havok Meltdown X-Tinction Agenda X-Factor #87 X-Factor 101 - 105 Mutant X Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire - Uncanny X-Men 475 - 486 X-Men: Emperor Vulcan X-Men Kingbreaker Uncanny Avengers

Reviews: Batman Odyssey #1, Casanova #1, The Last Zombie #1, Scarlet #1, Star Wars Old Republic #1, Thor: The Mighty Avenger #1, X-Men Vol 3 #1 The boys are gutted as the recording program used to record the show decided to eat the entire episode we recorded with special guests, Tricia Brouk and Vicki Van Tassel from the show Erotic Broadway: Vintage Variety. Jimmy saw the show recently and loved it so had them come on to review comics, read news and talk about the show. Unfortunately, tech issues happened and erased the episode. We did get a little ditty out of them involving Batman that was recorded separately. Drinks may have been involved. Please go see it if you're in NYC! The boy talk about the Emmy nominations (congrats to friend of show, Michael Emerson of Lost!).
