This week we are sitting down with Gabe Pietrafesa and Alex Magnan of Young Culture! We dive right into how Alex and Gabe have been playing music together since they were young teenagers who connected in high school, and how pop punk was a huge early music taste for them. Gabe talks about Alex showed him live performances for the first time and unlocked a desire to play live music, and how they booked shows at venues while being 14 year olds who had to have their parents take them to the shows. Lor asks about their life during the early “on the road” days, who their live performance idols are, and Madi has them share some of their favorite fan interactions. As the chaotic and lively conversation continues we all get into a spirited talk about our favorite Christmas songs, what they boys are currently listening to, and so much more on this episode of the Beyond the Barricade Podcast. ----------------------Follow Gabe, Alex and Young Culture:Gabe: https://www.instagram.com/gabepietrafesa/ Alex: https://www.instagram.com/alexandermagnan/ Young Culture: https://www.instagram.com/youngcultureny/ ----------------------Follow All Things Backing The Barricade:https://www.backingthebarricade.com/https://www.instagram.com/backingthebarricade/https://www.tiktok.com/@backingthebarricade----------------------Follow Madi:https://www.instagram.com/earthtomadison/Follow Lor:https://www.instagram.com/lorealmichele/----------------------

Telltale on The Loud Spot with Co-Host Kyler and new to the show, Diego from Asylum Radio Network. Description from Rude Records: https://www.ruderecords.com/artist/telltale/ "Like a John Hughes movie or a thrift store cardigan sweater, the driving rhythm and earnest melody of TELLTALE is both familiar and reinvigorating in equal measure. The quartet crafts anthems that immediately connect with the kids who pack clubs and theaters to see newer bands like Neck Deep as well as the older set that cherish early records from Fall Out Boy and Lifetime, but with their own distinctive spin. All over the Richmond, Virginia based band's catalogue, TELLTALE spin stories that are as relatable as growing pains. From Saves the Day to State Champs, what each colorful stripe on the pop-punk banner has in common is a determination to never grow up. It's music for people holding fast against the onset of bitterness and regret, reaching to adolescent hopes for the strength to wrestle present day anxieties. Made with earnest ambition and emotional precision, the band's breakout EP Timeless Youth is a short burst of yearning, soul-searching, melodic desperation, reaching upward toward a peace of mind and wellbeing that is too often frustratingly out of reach. Produced by Zach Jones (As It Is, Fever 333, Lil Lotus), the record follows the breathtaking Good Intentions EP, which was released less than a year after TELLTALE's initial formation in January 2017. As singer John Carteret told Substream, “Timeless Youth” is an anthem against complacency. “Growing into your late teens and early twenties, you lose a lot of friends in more ways than one. You take blame for mistakes that aren't yours and forget what it's like to know the freedom of naivety. ‘Timeless Youth' is about retaining a sense of wanderlust, even when you feel confined to a certain path.” TELLTALE have steadily charted their own path through impassioned performances and friendly charm, supporting bands like Broadside, As It Is, Real Friends, Assuming We Survive and Young Culture, both at home and on the road. With heavy doses of saccharine sentiment and self-aware camp, these guys are perfecting the recipe. At a rapid pace, Telltale continues to carve a new heart into the solid tree of pop punk. They are fresh champions for the underdog, a group who makes the everyday soundtrack for the uninvited, brokenhearted, and cast aside." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The All Punked Up Podcast is back! There's no doubt been a resurgence of pop-punk. And that resurgence has brought us a new wave sound of the genre we all know and love. But for the last few months, Tyler and Bailey have had many conversations off-mic about the state of pop-punk, where it's at now, and where it should go. So where should it go? It should invade country music. Hear them out. They think they will convince you.Sign-up for our weekly newsletter!http://allpunkedup.com/subscribeSupport the show

Bailey and Tyler bring you Episode 42 of The All Punked Up Podcast this week. The two of them kick off the show talking about new tunes released from Meet Me @ The Altar, AVOID, Angels and Airwaves, New Found Glory and Young Culture. After that, the boys move to their main topic of the show: Will the success of Olivia Rodrigo's “Good For U” be good for rock music? Rodrigo, without a doubt, is making a lot of noise in the pop world and mainstream radio. "Good 4 U" is what some people are calling pop punk. But since the song's release, it's topped different charts across a ton of countries, including the U.S.. At current time, the song has about 360 million streams on Spotify and is doing extremely well as it's sat at No. 1 for 4 weeks now. Neither Bailey or Tyler knew what the other was thinking in terms of what the song's success may mean for the rock genre, but they both provide their opinions and discuss what they think is needed to finally bring rock music back to the forefront of mainstream radio.Want to hear the new music we discussed this week? A band is a sum of its parts. At the same time, it has to be both a single, cohesive unit, and also a collection of unique individuals with their own personalities. Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Young Culture over Zoom video!Young Culture, the Albany, NY natives, are a three-piece alternative rock band. Childhood friends Alex Magnan (vocals), Gabe Pietrafesa (guitar), and Troy Burchett (guitar) quickly realized that they shared the same love of music. However, life moved on, different directions were taken and five years later, the boys banded together to create their lively and energetic group, Young Culture. The group takes influence from pop, hip-hop, country, hardcore, and alternative rock genres, all of which seamlessly blend the diverse backgrounds and styles of each member of the group. This is demonstrated in their recent single, “Holiday In Vegas”, which explodes with an upbeat melody, a catchy chorus, and accurately depicts the fun, light-heartedness that can be your early 20s.Young Culture are three guys genuinely doing what they love – connecting to listeners through their experiences and sharing an overall love for their community. The band recently released their debut album via Equal Vision Records. We want to hear from you! Alex Magnan of Young Culture joins The All Punked Up Podcast to discuss how the band has been dealing with COVID, the band's upcoming pop punk self-titled debut album, how the band writes songs being in three different states, and which songs he'd recommend from the album to old and new fans of the band.
