Welcome to the JQ & Pete Show! Today is a music round up where I share some awesome music I have been listening to lately. The new album by Gracie Abrams called The Secret of Us is out and I'm really digging the new singles. The Punk Pop Band Between You & Me has a new EP out and I love the single Kill My Vibe" with Knuckle Puck! It's a fast and fun song that I found myself playing on repeat; Summertime vibes! Dehd's new album "Poetry" is so freaking good and the Wallows new album "Model" is solidifying them being one of my favorite bands. I end the show with a classic song by Bob Marley. This is the audio version, however, it is also the first time I recorded a video version! I posted this on my YouTube Channel! This is so exciting for me and I can't wait to make more video versions in the future! This time I'm out in the woods in Pennsylvania! So come relax and let's talk about some good music. On this episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Robert Coyle and Alex Stewart of Mascots! Established in 2014, Mascots is a pop-punk band from Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the years, they've shared the stage with the likes of Hot Mulligan, Tiny Moving Parts, Everyone Leaves, Microwave, Life Lessons, A Story Told, and A Will Away, among others. In 2017, they also won the opportunity to play the main stage at the Vans Warped Tour in Cincinnati alongside the likes of Beartooth, Neck Deep, and Hands Like Houses. In 2016, Mascots released their debut EP entitled Nothing To Lose, which was followed by EPs The Good In Me and Time To Time in 2017. Both The Good In Me and Time To Time were recorded with Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Homesafe, Knuckle Puck) at Always Be Genius Recording Studio. Since that time, Mascots has persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic, and continued to release and work on new music. In April, they dropped a new single entitled "Slipping In The Dark," alongside an accompanying music video. Mascots followed up that release with their latest single "Vertigo," which dropped in May. On June 28th, Mascots is set to release their new EP entitled Bad News on a Beautiful Day. On this episode, Robert and Alex talk with Mike about how they got into music, Mascots' formation and Cincy roots, developing their sound, working with Seth Henderson, what it was like getting to play the main stage at Warped Tour in Cincinnati, persevering through the pandemic, the resurgence of pop-punk and emo, and more. This episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman also features the aforementioned "Vertigo" from Mascots, available where you get your music! Follow Mascots on Instagram @mascotsoh. We had the pleasure of interviewing Between You & Me over Zoom video!Fresh from the frenzy of their sold-out intimate headline tour, Australia's Between You & Me (BYAM) have today shared their brand new single and music video, “YEAH!” Opening with sunny acoustic chords reminiscent of early 2000s radio hits, “YEAH!” bursts into a feel-good verse carried by the distinct vocals of frontman Jake Wilson before moving into what is perhaps the band's most pronounced singalong chorus yet. In line with its bright and upbeat sound.Jake says the song is about “living your best life and not caring what anyone else thinks. I imagine this song playing in the montage scene of an early 2000s bratty comedy film. Stylistically it's a big shift for BYAM, but we wanted to bring beachy summer vibes to a fun and carefree song.”The band teamed up once again with Canadian producer Sam Guaiana (Armageddon - 2021), who flew to Australia earlier this year to record with the band at Beveridge Road Recording Studios in Victoria's Dandenong Ranges.“YEAH!” is the band's second independent release, and follows their addictive February single “Nevermind” which, on their recent run of intimate headline shows, proved to be a new fan favorite. Sonically “Nevermind” earmarked a new era for BYAM, and according to the band perfectly captured “the spirit of our band and our live show.” The single was swiftly added to rotation on triple j, and arrived ahead of a massive stint in the USA supporting Knuckle Puck and Real Friends, followed by an Australian tour joining Slowly Slowly on the road upon their return. BYAM also joined You Me At Six and Set It Off on their recent Australian run.In 2021, Between You & Me's acclaimed record Armageddon (Hopeless Records) took the band to new heights, featuring hit singles “Deadbeat”, “Butterflies”, “Change” and “Go To Hell” ft. Mikaila Delgado of Yours Truly. The electrifying 10-track record landed as triple j's Spotlight Album on release, alongside an interview on the station's Breakfast program, and has since clocked up over 13.5million global streams in addition to support from BBC Radio 1 (UK), Spotify, and more. To celebrate the album, Between You & Me stepped out on their biggest headline Australian tour in 2022, finishing with a milestone sold-out hometown show at Melbourne's The Corner Hotel. As the year drew to a close, the band took to the USA, joining American pop punk outfit State Champs on an extensive month-long run. With new singles “YEAH!” and “Nevermind” minting BYAM's newly independent era, the band are more motivated than ever to continue their global takeover. Fans both at home and abroad can expect more new music and touring news to come.We want to hear from you!

We had the pleasure of interviewing Real Friends over Zoom video!Illinois-based band REAL FRIENDS have released their brand new EP 'There's Nothing Worse Than Too Late' out now via Pure Noise Records. The EP, features previously released singles 'Tell Me You're Sorry' and 'Always Lose', was produced by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Neck Deep) and mixed by Kris Crummett (The Callous Daoboys, Knuckle Puck.)Speaking about the new EP the band said "‘There's Nothing Worse Than Too Late' was written and recorded over the last year and half. We went back to some of our earlier influences for it. When writing, we kept referencing more timeless bands like The Starting Line, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World and many others. It has always been important for us to write songs that are timeless, but that was in the front of our minds more than ever when compiling TNWTTL. We want our fans to go back and listen to these songs in five or ten years and still feel something. Lyrically it touches on depression, death, cutting long lasting ties for good and many other heavy subject matters. At the end of it all, if our fans feel less alone because of these songs then it's a success in our eyes."The band spoke on the latest single from the EP and said "‘Six Feet' is a song about longing to be loved and appreciated while you're still here. I always see and hear good things said about people after something bad happens to them or after they pass away. I think we all need reminders to appreciate our loved ones that are alive, healthy and right in front of us. This song is that reminder to ourselves and our fans."About Real Friends:For as much as the world has changed since Real Friends first emerged in 2010, the band's mission hasn't. They continue to bleed without apology and write songs that make it okay to feel everything: the ups, the downs, and anything else in between. Rather than shy away from emotion, the group runs right towards it with distortion cranked and hearts opened, tightening their careful distillation of pop and punk on each subsequent release. When the band—Dave Knox [lead guitar], Kyle Fasel [bass], Eric Haines [rhythm guitar], and Brian Blake [drums]—welcomed vocalist Cody Muraro in 2020, the goal stayed the same as they crafted new music for Pure Noise Records.Over the years, Real Friends has forged and strengthened a deep connection with fans. The group's 2014 full-length debut, Maybe This Place Is the Same and We're Just Changing, marked a turning point. Rock Sound named it one of the “Top 50 Albums of the Year.” 2016's The Home Inside My Head maintained this momentum with further acclaim and sold-out shows. Hello People, welcome to the When In Yorkshire Podcast, I hope you're all well. We are back with the second of 4 episodes recorded at Slam Dunk 2022 - if you haven't checked out the first - it's a treat and features Knuckle Puck, Beauty School, As December Falls and Sum 41 - it was quite a day I would recommend going back and listening to it to the episode - it was a lot of fun recording the conversations. This is episode Fifty eight and features Dan ‘Soupy' Campbell, of The Wonder Years and Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties.I was a late comer to The Wonder Years but when I first heard Came Out Swinging I was hooked and this has been a conversation I've wanted to record for ages. Dan did not disappoint and was an absolute pleasure to talk to, it was awesome to hear about his early days with music, the formation of The Wonder Years and their progression from a crazy joke band to how they are now. I'd not heard ‘Won't be pathetic forever' until just before this conversation and hadn't realised it was the first thing they released as this version of the band. It's still great and I've included a YouTube link to the EP if you haven't heard it. The set at Slam Dunk was also brilliant, they gave an absolute master class in delivering a tight and emotive performance, they don't currently have any live dates but their last U.K. tour with Beauty School was great and I'm excited for when they come back round although Dan's other project Arron West and the roaring twenties will be at 2000 trees this year so if you are there and the line up for that looks amazing, then go check that out. https://youtu.be/bTSkMXz7XrY Hosted on Acast. Hello people, welcome to the When in Yorkshire Podcast it's been a while! Sorry for the massive gap in episodes but we're back and have so many conversations ready to go! We're kicking off with the first of 4 episodes featuring conversations recorded at Slam Dunk festival 2022! This was the busiest day of recording we've ever had but was great to speak to so many people. I want to give a missive shout out to public city pr who once again did an awesome job managing the press tent and making everything run smoothly - Siobhan and her team in Leeds are always a pleasure to work with and put in a huge shift not just on the day but months leading up to it, putting up with my many, many emails and requests- without her all of the podcasts, radio interviews, Kerrang video interviews and various other press pieces we love reading listening to and watching they just wouldn't happen. So this episode features 4 of the conversations from the day, staring with joe and John from Chicago's very own Knuckle Puck, then i caught up with grant and Liam from Yorkshire's finest: Beauty School, Beth from As December Falls and the episode wraps up with Dave and Cone of Canadian pop punk royalty Sum 41. Much like the whole day these were all a lot of fun to record and it was great to speak to seasoned pro's of knuckle puck, new comers in beauty school and as December falls and veterans of sun 41 but get the same excitement of playing music and being at the festival from all of them. If you're not familiar with all the guests, please check out the wiypodcast playlist on Spotify where you can listen to tracks from all of the musical guests that have been on and especially beauty school and as December falls, check out their merch and up coming tour dates as they had some brilliant music out and your support will help keep them going. https://knucklepuckil.comhttps://beautyschool.bandhttps://www.asdecemberfalls.comhttp://www.sum41.comhttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/5WguWZu1N8br97h97FOXXm?si=deVVCVRgTueKSwJNbARKTg&dd=1 Hosted on Acast. Heath & Brandon dive into the 1994 classic D2:The Mighty Ducks! Today's episode goes over minutes 70-80. They discuss State Farm's ridiculous marketing budget, the beauty of the Knuckle Puck, the audacity of Bombay's trash talk to Stansson, the return of Banks, how great of a villain Olaf Sanderson is, and Heath's plan for when he inevitably is granted superpowers. Then we await some Minnesota Miracle Magic as we continue through the final Iceland game in part 9. “I hope you see our growth as songwriters and as a band.” Frontwoman Caitlin Henry is full of the ambition and humbleness that anyone could ever channel. We are joined by this talented vocalist from Newcastle-based rock outfit Eat Your Heart Out. It's been one decade into this particular world for Caitlin and company, and it feels as if they have found their stride, musically and artistically. We get the opportunity to speak with Caitlin about the highly-anticipated 2nd studio album “Can't Stay Forever,” which will tug on the heartstrings of many early 2000s pop-punk fans. Eat Your Heart Out has developed quite the chemistry between the individual musicians - blending in the sounds of Jimmy Eat World, Flyleaf, No Doubt, and Simple Plan, but with a modern twist of their own recipe. This map of creativity has made them stand out which as result, landed them on a revered label like Fearless Records. Despite lineup changes recently, Caitlin stayed focused and believes the band is destined for greater things in the near future. Take their debut album “Florescence” for example, racking up several million streams on multiple platforms around the world, and sharing the stages with other established rock exports like Knuckle Puck, Tiny Moving Parts, and Hands Like Houses. Ten years can fly by real quick when you're building on the success mark, and still, Caitlin stays humbled and knows that all she needs to do is keep singing from the heart. And yes, we are definitely seeing a talented songwriter bloom right in front of our very own eyes, along with a drummer, bassist, and guitarist to round out the musical arsenal. Well done to Caitlin and company. Tune in now and be sure to buy and stream “Can't Stay Forever,” dropping September 9 via Fearless Records.Stay connected with Eat Your Heart Out, visit: https://eyhoband.com/, https://www.facebook.com/eyhoband and https://www.instagram.com/eyhoband/Stay connected with IUF, visit: https://interviewunderfire.com/

If you're in a leadership position you have to make the best decision, given the circumstances that you have. And then as those circumstances change, you have to be willing to reassess your decisions. Every decision is the right decision when you make it - Jessie There's always an option! Nobody is here in a prison state that has to continue working for a client that abuses them or their team. Everybody tries to accumulate leverage, I would argue, but it's kind of like playing a video game and stashing a whole bunch of inventory and then getting to the final boss and not using any of it! And so if you're going to collect this leverage, you have to apply it. “And I think that's where leverage really comes into play, where you just have to be willing and able to go out there and say, This is what I need for me and for my team. And I think that's the big part about leadership and a CEO role in particular”. - Brett “And I think it's one thing to say we don't require a college degree, it's another to look at the majority of the people on the team stating a college degree in their bio. Um, but we really want to be able to look at our roles as a digital company and say, does a college degree help here? I'm not sure it helps for most roles or as required for most roles. But can we at least give people the opportunity to apply, knowing that their lack of a college degree is not going to be something that will hold them back?”- Brett Success is a very individualized metric. It's defined very differently for every individual. And I think I'm no exception to that. The Cool Guys ™ finally get around to covering a band they probably should have got to a while ago- Knuckle Puck. This 5 piece from suburban Chicago seems to fall smackdab in the middle of the emo revival of the mid 2010's and the more commercial leaning pop punk of the same era. In other words, this band is tight as hell. We covered their 2015 full length debut, Copacetic, which came out after the band grinded it out the old fashioned way- release a few well liked EP's and open for some more established bands. You may be one of Knuckle Puck's many fans, or maybe they're one of those bands that, for some reason, you haven't check out. Either way, you owe it to yourself to listen to this episode, check out the PGP website, go buy some PGP merch, and give your last dollar to our patreon. Thanks! The crew also discusses the news from around the scene which includes artists being upset about the new Twitter retweet functionality, how Nirvana's Nevermind album wouldn't have the same effect if released today as it did 30 years ago, a lifeline thrown to music venues and how Hayley Williams hits out against an ex-bandmate's alleged homophobic comments.
