Rolf Hut is a hydrological scientist from Delft University of Technology. Or perhaps he's better described as MacGyver scientist, attacking problems from different and interesting angles. One such problem was the infamous 1962 escape from Alcatraz, in which inmates Clarence Anglin, John Anglin, and Frank Morris escaped from Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, by tucking papier-mâché versions of their heads into their beds, escaping their cells through the ventilation ducts, climbing through an unused utility corridor, across roofs and over fences, before leaving the island on an improvised inflatable raft made of rain jackets. Rolf helped build perhaps the most sophisticated model of the currents in the bay area on the night of escape to look at the question of whether the inmates could possibly have survived the journey, and then tested the research in his own Mythbusters-esque escape from Alcatraz. Michael is joined by David Widner, co-author of ‘Escaping Alcatraz: The Untold Story of the Greatest Prison Break in American History' & nephew of escapees John & Clarence Anglin, for the 60th anniversary of the actual ‘escape from Alcatraz'. In June 1962, inmates Clarence Anglin, John Anglin, and Frank Morris escaped from Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, the maximum-security facility located on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. By tucking papier-mâché heads resembling their own likenesses into their beds, the three broke out of the main prison building via an unused utility corridor.  They then departing the island aboard an improvised inflatable raft leaving numerous theories proposed by authorities, reporters, family members and amateur enthusiasts as to their fate. In 1979 the FBI officially concluded, on the basis of circumstantial evidence and a preponderance of expert opinion that the men drowned in the frigid waters of San Francisco Bay before reaching the mainland. However, the U.S. Marshals Service case file remains open & active with Morris and the Anglin brothers remaining on its wanted list.  Last week the agency released age-progressed photos of the three who would now be in their 90s, prompting new debate on whether the inmates managed to survive. On a September night in 1993, in Waterbury, Connecticut; Donna Palomba was attacked in her home by a masked man while her husband was out of town and her 2 young children slept down the hall. Donna's story is one of courage, hope, perseverance and a fight for justice. Amber was drinking a luscious Red from Alinta Ranch Winery, from South Eastern Australia. Amber pulled her sources from:Dateline "Evil Paid A Visit," Season 30, Episode 13www.wikipedia.orgwww.newsunzip.comwww.thecinemaholic.com / "Where is Donna Palomba Now" Kriti Mehrotra / January 21, 2022www.nbcnews.com /"The Man Behind The Mask," / Sara James / April 30, 2007 You can check out Donna Palomba's non-profit organization at www.janedoenomore.orgThen Erika covers the famous story of how 3 inmates attempted and managed to escape the most secure prison in the world.  Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin, were all serving their prison sentences on the Rock a.k.a. Alcatraz.  With Morris in charge they planned their escape for months before finally executing the very well thought out plan.   THe whole thing was beyond creative and its incredible how they pulled this stunt off.  The even crazier thing is that once they escaped, they just vanished.  Still to this day the question is did the 3 men, die in the San Francisco Bay or did they manage to just blend in to the world without being noticed and live their best lives, no one knows.  So listen in while Erika goes over one of the most famous prison escapes and the men who got away with it.Erika was drinking 19 Crimes Martha's Chard - Chardonnay, its very good but a little sweet for her taste.Erika pulled her sources from:www.webmd.comwww.fbi.gov/history/famous-cases/alcatraz-escapewww.history.com / Was the Escape from Alcatraz Successful?Natasha Frost / August 31, 2018www.en.wikipedia.org

June 11, 1962. San Francisco, California. 35-year old Frank Morris, 32-year old John Anglin and his 31-year old brother, Clarence Anglin, attempt an elaborate escape from the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary on Alcatraz Island. After sneaking out of their cells during the night, the three convicts enter the water in order to cross San Francisco Bay on a homemade inflatable raft, but an extensive manhunt fails to find them. While the authorities are inclined to believe the escapees drowned, certain pieces of evidence, including a photograph that was allegedly taken of the Anglin brothers in Brazil in 1975, suggest they might have survived. In Part One of our special six-anniversary episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we shared the basic facts of the Alcatraz escape. This week, in Part Two, we shall explore all the different theories surrounding the escape attempt and determine the likelihood of whether or not any of the three missing convicts could have gotten away with it. If you have any information about this case, please contact the U.S. Marshals Service's San Francisco office at (415) 436-7677. In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films: the 1979 American prison action film "Escape from Alcatraz" directed by Don Siegel. Adapted from the 1963 non-fiction book of the same name by J. Campbell Bruce and dramaticizing the 1962 prison escape from the maximum security prison on Alcatraz Island, the film stars Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris - a criminal with an exceptional I.Q. who has escaped from several other prisons - who finds himself in a battle of wills with the prison warden (played by Patrick McGoohan), as well as making several acquaintances with fellow inmates - including brothers Clarence Anglin and John Anglin (played by Jack Thibeau and Fred Ward), Chester "Doc" Dalton (played by Roberts Blossom), English (played by Paul Benjamin), Litmus (played by Frank Ronzio), and Charley Butt's (played by Larry Hankin) - who all aide in Frank's eventual escape from Alcatraz. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

Frank Morris Clarence Anglin John William Anglin Allen West was left behind Vent the prisoner escaped thru June Stephens claimed he was suppose to escape that night also Robert Williams who denied taking part in the planning was serving a life sentence for murder Fake head, its easy to see how the guard would not have noticed! Alcatraz soon after the escape Is this a picture of Clarence and John in 1975? 2013 Letter from John Anglin My name is John Anglin. I escape [sic] from Alcatraz in June 1962 with my brother Clarence and Frank Morris. I’m 83 years old and in bad shape. I have cancer. Yes we all made it that night but barely! Frank passed away in October 2005. His grave is in Alexandria under another name. My brother died in 2011.  If you announce on T.V. that I will be promised to first go to jail for no more than a year and get medical attention, I will write back to let you know exactly where I am. This is no joke this is for real and honest truth.  I could tell you that for seven years I lived in Minot North Dakota - [...] in Fargo - 1990 to 2005! But too damn cold had to get the hell out. I lived in Seattle for most of my years after the escape.   I'm in Southern California now.
