In a conversation with Udi Wertheimer, co-founder of Taproot Wizards, who has been notoriously FUDing runes on Twitter. We learn he actually loves runes. the complexities and nuances of launching and sustaining a cryptocurrency token, specifically focusing on Bitcoin runes and their liquidity issues. Leonidas emphasizes the difficulties of getting tokens listed on centralized exchanges like Binance, highlighting the need for connections and market makers. We explore why Solana meme coins are often more successful due to easier liquidity and a clear path to market. The discussion touches on the unique challenges of Bitcoin-based tokens (runes and BRC-20s), the importance of user experience (UX), and potential solutions like embracing long-term value over short-term gains. EPISODE NOTES: The shirtwaist emerged in the mid-late nineteenth century. It soon became a symbol of the modern working woman, and by the early twentieth century, shirtwaists were mass manufactured and widely available. However, this would come at a devastating cost to the workers (mostly women) who produced them. On the afternoon of March 25, 1911, fire broke out at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City. This would go down in history as one of the worst industrial disasters in American history and its impact would be felt more than a century later. My guests today are Scott Davis and Rob Wertheimer. Scott and Rob head up Melius Research and are the authors of a great book called Lessons from the Titans. The book explains what the industrial giants of old can teach the new generation of high-growth businesses about how to survive and deliver shareholder value over multiple decades. Drawing on their experience as industrial analysts, they present case studies on businesses like Danaher, Roper, Honeywell, Boeing and GE to reveal both what does and doesn't work when it comes to capital allocation and business strategy as a company enters a more mature phase in its lifecycle.
