Michael will be one of several artists participating in the 2021 show, One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel, taking place October 16, 2021. Contact iheartmotelart@gmail.com for more information. -------- Untrained and schooled only by museums and the Friday New York Times, Michael started painting and collaging and building with whatever he could find. He loved 90's bands like Guided By Voices and Sebadoh that made music in the bedroom or garage without fancy equipment—low fidelity but still fantastic and beautiful. Lo-Fi. Signing his name to something when he wasn't a “real” artist seemed presumptuous and weird. He decided to just use Lo-Fi because that's the way his work is made. https://www.instagram.com/lofi_mikep/
Marshall will be one of several artists participating in the 2021 show, One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel, taking place October 16, 2021. She had the opportunity to work in horse racing from age 14-23, and now works as a track photographer at Evangeline Downs. She owes horse racing her livelihood, and is honored to participate in this fundraising effort for off track Thoroughbreds. Horses have been her biggest teachers in art and life. James will be one of several artists participating in the 2021 show, One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel, taking place October 16, 2021. Contact iheartmotelart@gmail.com for more information. ------- (from theresidencyproject.org) "No one medium or concept defines James “Capt.” Stovall's artistic practice. He flows seamlessly from larger-than-life murals to intimate doodles and off-the-cuff musings, to text-based works with cadences that beg to be read aloud. Regardless of the form his work takes, there seems to be a constant tension between the figurative and the abstract, the flat and the unfolding, the whimsical and the grotesque, the primal and the evolved (...or evolving), the child and the man. As one half of LZY GENiUS (an artist collaboration with his brother), Capt. James hails from Henderson, Nevada but describes himself as a "Pasadena kid," graduating from Pasadena High School in 2004. He is a close friend and collaborator of artist Frances Berry, and his work can be viewed at https://www.instagram.com/capt4sale/.

Katherine will be one of several artists participating in the 2021 show, One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel, taking place October 16, 2021. Contact iheartmotelart@gmail.com for more information. ------- Based in Memphis, Katherine's current work is inspired by the variety of forms found on daily walks: the foliage, a glimpse into a neighbor's back garden, and the leafy shadows cast on the pavement. She is drawn to the delicate appearance, implicit strength, and patient and confident growth of plant life. In addition to my website, her work can be purchased through Juniper Print Shop and Artfully Walls. https://www.instagram.com/katherinegeorgeart/

Heather will be one of several artists participating in the 2021 show, One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel, taking place October 16, 2021. Contact iheartmotelart@gmail.com for more information. ------- Heather Sundquist Hall is an artist based in Smithville, Texas. Her work is heavily influenced by narratives, nostalgia and details. Heather's illustrations have become pieces of her own stories whose purpose is to preserve memories like souvenirs. Much of Heather's focus is on the details. It's the subtle floral pattern on a curtain, or the kind of plaid a certain couch was that she sat on in November of 1986 that she is most attracted to explore. Heather's work is also an attempt to honor the past, either by way of exploring it's authentic parts or through her own interpretations. Although Heather's work illustrates her personal stories, it is her hope that when making and sharing art, that she can create a connection with the person looking at it, inviting them to pause for a quiet moment, to feel even just the smallest pull on their heartstrings. Heather hopes to help them recall their own narratives, the stories that have helped to shape them and the ones that they live by. www.instagram.com/heathersundquisthall/

I spent most of my adult life working as a freelance graphic designer before deciding to close down my business and create space in my life. "Drawing cartoons was what came in to fill it up. "I draw about what it's like to be a human being: the good, the bad, the confusing and messy and vulnerable. "When I 'm making art I like to try to go to that space that is both child-like and open. Art is a form of story telling. It can be historical, political, and very personal. The tools I use for creating are paint, collage, artist's books and puppetry. I've been on the creative road since I was a very young child. It is the one process that has given me an outlet for all of my feelings. I truly believe being in the act of creating is the most sane and wonderful experience I could ever have. I couldn't imagine my life without it." - Bozarts Gallery

Adrienne Brown-David was born in St. Louis, MO. After a brief stint at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a short return to St. Louis, Adrienne relocated to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. It was here that she began to focus on painting and mixed media. She spent several years creating a body of work that is easily identified by its "drip" effect. After marriage and four children, she relocated to Oxford, MS. With the demands of work and family life, she had to take a break from the large mixed media portraits that she had become known for. During this break, Adrienne began doodling tiny neighborhoods in her sketchbook with Sharpie pen to keep her hand and eye sharp. These tiny doodles grew into larger and larger compositions. Her love for these doodles grew as well and they are now her main artistic focus. Each composition is created entirely free hand and a single Sharpie pen is used (until it completely runs out of ink). Most recently, Adrienne has been playing with portraiture in an illustrative form, drawing custom family portraits. These family portraits have been used for Christmas cards, post cards, business cards, as well as beloved keepsakes. They are simple, line drawings of families, but mastering the unique characteristics of each family member makes the resemblance undeniable, even with the lack of facial features. That attention to unique details eventually evolved into her current project, custom paper dolls or Minikins. The goal of Minikins is to create a completely customized representation of any and every child. This means that all genders, skin tones, hair types/colors, eye color and abilities can have a toy that represents their unique beauty. Adrienne Brown-David currently works from her home studio in Water Valley, MS where she resides with her husband, Taariq and their four daughters. https://www.instagram.com/adriennemeschelle/

Kayti Didriksen is a multidisciplinary artist focused on capturing movement and sound with line and color. Didriksen uses blind contour drawing, a fundamental hand eye coordination technique of learning to draw what you see to record the ephemeral traces of movement during live music and performances. In the next step of her process, she overlaps the drawings creating a matrix for larger scale work that represents space and movement with color and generates the feeling of the performance in the viewer. She also draws as a performance, engaging guests at events with quick and quirky lines while speaking about what happens to the brain during this process. Didriksen has collaborated with organizations throughout the US and abroad including Faberge’, TEDx, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, NYU, Brooklyn Museum, and the Jazz Foundation of America as well as countless bands and musicians. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post, NY Times, CNN and the BBC. She served as the Artist in Residence for the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra from 2013 to 2017. In addition to her more line-driven works, Didriksen enjoys painting landscapes in plein air with a palette knife while traveling. Currently, Didriksen lives in Washington, D.C., and is the Artist in Residence for Long and Foster Capital Region.

Beth received her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art in 2002. She began her collegiate career as part of the Architecture program, but quickly realized that the Fine Arts section of the building was where she belonged. The majority of her years in school were actually spent in the dark room, developing film. The hands-on tactility of processing film and the delay of the work coming to life really "fit" - numbers, cause and effect, creativity. After graduating, she worked alongside a photojournalistic photographer for a couple of years until another job forced a move. After setting all creative endeavors aside for quite awhile, she began to feel the itch again. During her time away, digital photography had swept the photography industry, forcing her to reevaluate her direction. As a fine arts major, she had a fairly full resume of work - throwing and hand building with clay, watercolor, design, sculpture, photography and printmaking. Through the years, she'd painted on the side - nothing major, only small projects - until one fortuitous request changed it all - a request for a large abstract piece. From that, a real passion was awakened. Beth's work is characterized by bold, gestural brush strokes and minimalist detail. As a nod to her analytical roots in photography and architecture, she approaches each piece with a mathematical mindset - counting evens and odds, balancing lights and darks, visually "slicing" the composition into thirds and fifths. She approaches her work as if it's a problem to solve: combining and contrasting elements with and against one another to create a cohesive yet dynamic piece. Beth's work is an exploration of contrast, tension and resolve. Methodical by nature, she challenges her own ideas of control by experimenting with materials, allowing them to behave as they naturally would, with subtle direction. Each canvas, piece of paper or panel is an invitation to engage - to feel, to react, to explore the tension and resolve of each and every element and property used to build it. https://www.instagram.com/beth_winterburn/ https://bethwinterburn.com
