Chris is a mixed martial artist who has trained with elite level martial artists and, in my opinion, is also an elite level martial artist as well. He has trained with some of the biggest names in the world, fought in some of the biggest promotions in the world, and is on the path to fight for the Lion Fight title in a few short months. In this episode, we go into detail on how Chris first got into martial arts, how he became a top level fighter, how he had to fight to survive when his life was almost cut short due to a devastating motorcycle accident while he was living in Thailand, and how he's been overcoming the odds while on his road to redemption. I had such a great time getting to sit and talk with Chris, I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am. I hope you all will enjoy this episode as much as I did, and I look forward to uploading more content for you all in the near future.

Functional Medicine Field: What You Will Learn: The principles Funk uses to help his clients achieve their fitness goals How Funk's fitness regimen aligns with the functional medicine field Why Funk's communication style can help FM providers better connect with their patients What practitioners can do to help their patients understand the clinical side of their treatment strategy How to work with patients to undercover their driving ‘why' for treatment How to help men better fulfill their role as patriarchs by improving their health Nutritional products that Funk recommends to men over forty who want to boost testosterone Shredded Over-Forty Funk Roberts is the owner of Funk Roberts Fitness Inc., the Over 40 Alpha Brotherhood, and Funk Supplements Inc. On top of being a successful serial entrepreneur in the functional medicine field, Funk is also a certified metabolic trainer and former professional volleyball player. Funk is the author of Rapid Body Makeover, and also has a new book coming soon called “Over-40 Shred.” In this episode of The FM Shift, Funk joins us to share his journey and talk about what we can do to help our patients see the big picture when it comes to treatment. In Layman's Terms Funk may not be a practitioner, but he employs many of the values and principles that we live by in the functional medicine field. He understands the clinical nature of functional medicine, but his main goal is to help men over forty get shredded. He has been successful in doing so by communicating complex medical information to average people so they can understand it and use it to their advantage. Clinicians have a lot to learn from the way Funk communicates with the male patient population, and they can apply the same tactics in their own practices. Connecting the Dots Through Funk's journey, he made it abundantly clear that practitioners in the functional medicine field have to take a different approach to address the issues facing men over forty. There has to be a connection between the topic of testosterone and the issues the patients are coming in with. That way, the patients can understand the potential treatment options in a way that is more important to them. A lot of practitioners are big proponents of testing. But Funk offers an entirely new way to take that clinical data and make it meaningful to the patients. In this, the second podcast episode of 2018, I'm happy to have finally caught up with a unique fighter that I've been tracking since around Jan of 2016.  Travis Clay (Sitan Gym, Arizona) is a WBC National Muay Thai Champion and is one committed and too often underestimated American Nak Muay.   Travis was fresh from weighing-in for his contest with Ognjen Topic for Friday Night Fights (New York) which is slated to be the first full rules muay thai fight in America to be streamed live over the internet.  It's a glorious time for Muay Thai in the states and Travis and I discussed some of his past fights in particular detail.  Including his pro debut against UFC veteran Jared Papazian at Lion Fight 26; his stunning fight with Julio "The Don" Peña and his epic WBC title fight last year with Joe Gogo in San Diego for Dennis Warner's WCK Full Rules Muay Thai promotion.   Travis went deep into his muay thai technique, he let us inside his head before during and after the aforementioned fights as well as discussed the nuanced differences between "Muay Thai" and "Kickboxing" and where Muay Thai may seemingly be headed in the USA over the next few years.   Sit back and take in the interview and enjoy.  This is also a pivotal podcast episode for Teep This as this was the very first video podcast that I ever recorded.  I interviewed and cut this podcast from my office and Travis spoke to me from his hotel room in New York before turning in to rest up for his fight the very next day.   Thanks for tuning in to the podcast.  Please like @TeepThis on facebook, follow us on Instagram and rate and review the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher Radio and Google Play.  Live well, laugh often , love much and train hard.  Sawadee krap.

My sincerest apologies fight fans for being late with this months installment of the podcast; hence this month’s title: NO EXCUSES!   In the first half of the podcast I speak with amateur muay thai fighter Lance Dixon about his journey to an impressive 14-0 record and his ambitions of going pro.  I had my first opportunity to witness Lance in the ring this past February at WCK’s CALI 19: Bring The Heat; and I captured some incredible images from that fight that you are free to enjoy and share at will.   In the second half of the podcast I go deep with muay thai trainer, fitness coach, gym owner and fight promoter Jamie Bradley of KruFit and Midwest Muay Thai.  I first saw Jamie Bradley cornering Yeison “Yayyoo” Berdugo at Lion Fight 24 last year.  I thought it unique to see a woman cornering a fighter at that level so I tracked her down to get her story; and she has an interesting story to say the least.   Muay Thai news and recommendations shared in this month’s podcast include Muay Thai’s recent recognition as a provisional Olympic sport and our first olympic muay thai team.  Visit the USMF website, facebook page and follow the USMF on Instagram for more.  Also, here’s an informative article from the NY Times on the topic as well.  Natalie Morgan won her first fight in the Muay Thai Angels Tournament in Bangkok with a highlight reel reverse elbow.  Follow the tournament here and check out VICE’s write up on the tournament on their FIGHTLAND blog.  Lion Fight 36 airs live on AXS TV and I’m stoked to see Paul “The Reaper” Benasiak in a full fight…finally!!!
