ChatGPT and AI seem to have taken over the news cycle. Apparently, AI can do anything from draw a world-class piece of art to take the bar exam. While those are impressive feats, let's see if it can do something really difficult. We ask ChatGPT to invent new bourbon cocktails that have never been heard of before. Will AI finally crumble under the pressure, or will it yet again prove to be far better than us mere mortals.We make some AI-generated cocktails and see what AI really knows about the human palate. We discuss how bartenders can use AI as a creative tool and maybe learn a thing or two about stepping outside the norm of cocktails.Cocktail 1 -  *Bourbon Sage Smash*2 oz Bourbon1 oz Fresh lemon juice1/2 oz Sage syrup*4-5 Fresh sage leaves1 Dash orange bittersSage leaf and lemon twist for garnish- In a shaker, muddle the fresh sage leaves with the sage syrup.- Add the bourbon, fresh lemon juice, orange bitters, and ice to the shaker.- Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds.- Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with ice.- Garnish with a fresh sage leaf and a lemon twist* Sage syrup recipe:Combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil.Add several fresh sage leaves and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.Remove from heat, let cool, and strain out the sage leaves.Store the syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.Cocktail 2 - *Smoky Bourbon Sling*2 oz Bourbon1/2 oz Mezcal3/4 oz Fresh lime juice1/2 oz Maple syrup1/4 oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur2 dashes Angostura bittersClub sodaLime wedge for garnish- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.- Add the bourbon, mezcal, lime juice, maple syrup, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, and Angostura bitters.- Shake well for about 10-15 seconds, until the shaker is chilled.- Fill a Collins glass with ice.- Strain the cocktail into the glass.- Top with club soda.- Garnish with a lime wedge.We truly appreciate all of your support!Make sure to check our pinned posts on Instagram and enter our giveaways!
