This week on the Bourbon Bytes podcast, we're diving into new whiskey releases from Blue Run, Little Book, Very Old St. Nick, 15 Stars, and one of the strangest TTB labels I've seen in a while: a goat milk flavored whiskey from Tamworth. On the gaming side, Microsoft is making headlines with 8,000-year Xbox bans for Forza Horizon 6 pirates, while Xbox Game Pass is adding a new Discord Nitro perk. Then it's time for a Byte-Sized Review of King of Kentucky 16 Year Bourbon. This 2024 release from Brown-Forman is a 16-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 132 proof, with only about 5,100 bottles released. It shares the same mash bill as Old Forester 1924, but at six years older and full barrel strength, does it live up to the King of Kentucky name? Expect deep oak, antique wood, cedar chest, dark roasted nuts, molasses, tannic richness, and a long finish.
A decade in the making. Today on Bourbon Lens, we sit down with John Waddell, Master Taster at Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co., to discuss the most significant release in the distillery's modern history: The Henry Kraver Reserve 10-Year Bourbon.Since reviving the Peerless legacy in 2013, the Taylor family has vowed to never source a drop of whiskey. This 10-year release is the liquid proof of that patience. John walks us through the "Sweet Mash" process that defines the Peerless profile and explains why crafting a 10-year expression requires a completely different approach to batching and quality control. From the "wild" palate of burnt brownies and mocha to the nostalgic tobacco-heavy nose, we break down why this bottle is already being called a contender for Bourbon of the Year.In this episode, we discuss:The 10-Year Evolution: The significance of Peerless's first official age-statement release.Sweet Mash Mastery: How fresh mash (versus sour mash) creates a cleaner, more vibrant 117.6 proof spirit. The Art of the Batch: John Waddell shares the challenges of pairing prominent 10-year-old barrels.History Reborn: Paying homage to founder Henry Kraver and the DSP-KY-50 heritage. The "Cult" of Peerless: Why the distillery's focus on "quality over quantity" has built one of the most loyal followings in the industry. The Visitor Experience: Why their downtown Louisville distillery is a must-visit on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.ChaptersIntroduction and WelcomePeerless Distillery Overview10-Year Bourbon ReleaseCrafting and Tasting ProcessChallenges and AchievementsFuture Plans and InnovationsClosing Remarks
This week on the Bourbon Bytes podcast, it's my birthday episode, and whiskey news got weird in the best way. Stitzel-Weller just announced a 31-year-old bourbon bottled at a wild 163.2 proof with a $3,000 price tag. Jack Daniel's is teaming up with McLaren for the limited-edition Halo MK1 Tennessee Whiskey, and in gaming news, the new Steam Controller is already selling out while Halo 2 and Halo 3 remake rumors are heating up. Then I dive into a Byte-Sized Review of Bernheim 20th Anniversary Wheat Whiskey from Heaven Hill. This limited-edition Bernheim is 10 years old, bottled at 115 proof, and celebrates 20 years of one of the most unique American whiskey styles. I went in curious, but this one seriously surprised me with rich caramel, Halloween candy sweetness, balanced spice, and a finish that made me wonder why Bernheim doesn't get more love.
Send us Fan MailWell, folks, somehow, in all of the years of this podcast, we've never reviewed this bourbon. Over 8 years and a long, unending search for a sister product that was apparently sold out in every single stupid store in Lexington, Kentucky, we finally are reviewing the Knob Creek 8 Year Old Bourbon. It's the age-stated bottle that started the wave of excitement for this Jim Beam line that and has elevated their products to another level all together. But, does it hold up in 2026? Time to find out! Elijah Craig 15 Year Bourbon is a brand new offering from Heaven Hill. Some say this whiskey was created to bridge the gap between the flagship Small Batch that we know and love versus some of the ultra-aged stuff like the 18-Year-Old expression. Regardless, this bourbon carries and age statement (15 year) and a proof (108) that seems to be in the wheelhouse of the whiskey enthusiast. But, how does this new offering taste? You'll have to listen to get our take. Jason joins us for this episodes and we get into all kinds of trouble including breaking news and blinds. Should you be chasing this new single barrel offering from Heaven Hill? We think so, but there are definitely some things you need to consider. --------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!

In this episode of The Bourbon Life Podcast, Mark and the crew are back in the studio for a laid-back, no-guest hang—just good bourbon, good stories, and plenty of unfiltered conversation. With Stacey and Chad out, the guys take full advantage of the opportunity to dive into a wide range of topics, from what's happening in the bourbon world right now to some classic behind-the-scenes banter that only the Crew can deliver. Across three segments, the conversation flows naturally (as it tends to do), mixing bourbon insights with plenty of laughs, strong opinions, and a few moments that probably went just a little off the rails—in the best way possible. It's the kind of episode that feels like you're sitting at the table with them, glass in hand. The guys talk about recent updates on the Bardstown Bourbon and Uncle Nearest litigation as well as the proposed merger between Brown Forman and Pernod Ricard. They also taste and review a 2018 Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon , the brand new 2026 Michter's 10 Year Bourbon, and the brand new Rare Perfection 10 Year Bourbon from Preservation Distillery. As always, the reviews are honest, the takes are unfiltered, and the conversation is exactly what you've come to expect from a Crew episode—relaxed, entertaining, and full of bourbon passion. The final Bourbon Bytes Podcast episode of 2025 is here, and it's a big one. In this episode, Clifton wraps up the year with honest reflections on the future of Bourbon Bytes, the bourbon industry heading into 2026, and a "Byte-Sized Review" of the brand-new Willett Family Estate Small Batch 4 Year Cask Strength Bourbon. Willett is one of the most polarizing names in whiskey, and this new four-year-old, cask strength release has sparked plenty of debate. Is it a promising step forward for Willett's own distillate, or does the price and presentation lean too hard on hype? Clifton breaks down the nose, palate, finish, value, and expectations while also sharing broader thoughts on availability, pricing, and what bourbon drinkers may see more of in the coming year. Whiskey news, honest reviews, and real talk to close out 2025. Cheers, and see you in 2026
Willett surprised everyone recently when they released their first ever budget friendly "purple top." The purple foil that adorns the Willett Family Estate Bourbon is nothing short of legendary, but it also typically carries a hefty price tag. So, when Willett recently released a 4 year old small batch bourbon (with a purple top) at 125 proof and an MSRP just shy of $70, it definitely turned some heads. But, how does it taste? We got to work for this short and blinded this new release against a shelfer that had a similar proof and age. How did it all turn out? Well...you have to listen to find out.

Send us a text The crew is back at the table with three new pours from Starlight Distillery, and things heat up fast... literally. They kick off with the Mizunara Finish Bourbon, a bold pour that sparks debate over flavor vs. fire, before moving to the Double Oaked, where caramel, brown sugar, and “toasted cookie vibes” smooth things out. Finally, the team uncorks Starlight's first-ever 10-Year Bourbon, and let's just say the nose alone had everyone saying it “smells like hope.” From sandalwood surprises to “Charizard-level” heat references, the conversation flows with laughs, honest ratings, and a little friendly peer pressure on their pour scores. Along the way, the fellas reminisce about their trip to Indiana rickhouses, slushies, and surviving the “Starlight gauntlet.” They wrap it all up with talk of family bourbon trails, orchestra debates, and a reminder that sometimes whiskey is about more than just the pour—it's about the people.

This week on Chill Filtered, Cole and Bryan pour not one, but two great whiskeys from Michter's — the always-anticipated Michter's 10 Year Bourbon and the historic Bomberger's PFG. Between sips, they catch up on life and dig into the fascinating backgrounds of both Michter's and Bomberger's, tracing their roots and legacies in American whiskey. On Whiskey World News, Bryan covers the developing story around Uncle Nearest's lawsuit and what it could mean for the brand. And on "What Whiskey Would You Choose?", the guys debate: James B. Beam Distillery or Maker's Mark Distillery — which one are you choosing? Two pours, one big lawsuit, and a bourbon battle for the ages.
In this community-powered tasting, The Bourbon Road hosts Jim Shannon and Todd Ritter dive into five fan-voted pours—each selected by members of their Bourbon Roadies Facebook group. With a lineup that spans both heritage and experimental releases, this episode explores everything from elegant bottled-in-bond bourbons to wheat whiskeys with a modern twist. The journey begins with Old Fitzgerald 7-Year Bottled-in-Bond, a wheated bourbon that brings smooth, sweet character in a classically elegant package. Bottled at 100 proof and adorned in its signature decanter, this release blends honey bread, soft spice, and subtle floral notes into a quintessential Old Fitz profile—refined and balanced. Next up is Old Grand-Dad 7-Year Bottled-in-Bond, a high-rye, Jim Beam-distilled bruiser that still manages charm. It delivers nutty sweetness, hints of citrus, and that signature Beam peanut brittle note—plus a surprise touch of green banana. Priced under $40, it's a contender for one of the best bottled-in-bond bargains of the year. Then the pour turns dark—literally—with Old Forester Extra Extra Old, part of their 117 Series. A richer, more oak-saturated version of the beloved 1910, this double-barreled bourbon lingers longer in its second barrel, extracting deep color and complexity. Expect chocolate-dipped molasses cookies, toasted oak, and syrupy texture in this 375ml limited release. The fourth pour steps up the age and elegance with Heaven Hill Heritage Collection 12-Year Bourbon, a 100-proof statement of mature Kentucky whiskey. Layered with vanilla bean, antique oak, dried fruit, and a velvety finish, it stands as a confident reminder of why Heaven Hill remains a pillar of the bourbon world. Finally, a bonus pour closes out the show: Star Hill Farm Wheat Whiskey—a unique take from the producers of Maker's Mark. Aged in honeycomb-textured barrels and bottled at 110.6 proof, this wheater leans toward chocolate malt, sweetbread, and baking spice. This week on Bourbon Lens, Jake and Scott dive into the wave of exciting whiskey releases that have dropped during the summer of 2025. From heritage distilleries to rising craft brands, the whiskey and bourbon world has been anything but quiet. We kick things off with Starlight Distillery's milestone 10-Year Bourbon, their oldest bourbon release to date and a major step forward for the Indiana distillery. Then, we explore Bardstown Bourbon Company's Hokkaido Release, a limited-edition Japanese oak-finished bourbon that showcases the brand's continued innovation and global partnerships. We also discuss MGP's Remus Babe Ruth Reserve, Peerless Toasted Barrel Rye Batch 2, and Frey Ranch Distillery's new 5 Grain Bourbon. Another release is Wheel Horse Barrel Proof, the bold new cask strength release that's grabbed our attention for its value and flavor punch. And we round things out with a discussion of Northern Liberties' debut bourbon — a 6-Year Bottled in Bond expression from the Cincinnati distillery. If you've been following our news section on BourbonLens.com, you've seen how these are just a few of the bottles which are setting the tone for the rest of the year. Pour a glass and join us as we recap the best of what summer has poured out so far.

This is a new Tasting Talk where Dan and Dave explore Iron Talon from The Distillarium — a bold and inventive whiskey that showcases the distillery's boundary-pushing approach to flavor. Bottled at 92 proof, Iron Talon delivers a rich and layered profile with notes of toasted oak, dark fruit, baking spice, and a hint of smoke that lingers on the finish.Dan and Dave dig into the inspiration behind the whiskey, the unique distilling and aging techniques used at The Distillarium, and how Iron Talon fits into their growing lineup of experimental spirits. Watch on YouTube I've officially completed my journey through all 25 Eon-produced James Bond films, and now it's time to rank them all from worst to best! From Sean Connery's iconic debut in Dr. No, to Daniel Craig's emotional finale in No Time To Die, I break down my personal rankings of every official 007 film. This video is a companion piece to my Drinks and a Movie Podcast, where I recently finished a full James Bond series—watching all the Eon films for the first time and discussing them in-depth. Along the way, I paired the experience with some classic spirits, including a pour of Old Grand-Dad 16-Year-Old Bourbon, a nod to the Ian Fleming novels, where Bond occasionally sips this lesser-known American whiskey.Whether you're a lifelong Bond fan or new to the franchise, I invite you to join me as I rank all the James Bond movies, share my thoughts on each Bond actor, and reflect on the franchise's evolution over six decades.
Send us a text2025 continues to be the year of age statements seemingly making a return and Jim Beam is making another wave with the introduction of their Old Grand-Dad 7 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon. Utilizing their high rye mashbill and the traditional bottled in bond confines of at least 4 years old and no more of less than 100 proof, this bourbon certainly will have something for the discerning palate, right? Only time will tell! I'm also comparing it to the Jim Beam 7 Year Bourbon and Old Grand-Dad 114 to see how it stacks up to some readily available products in the Beam lineup. It's a fun one and I hope you enjoy.Become a patron of the show at http://www.patreon.com/mybourbonpodcastLeave us a 5 star rating and review on your podcast app of choice!Send us an email with questions or comments to thisismybourbonshop@gmail.comSend us mail to PO Box 22609, Lexington, KY 40522Check out all of our merch and apparel: http://bourbonshop.threadless.com/Leave us a message for Barrel Rings at 859.428.8253Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mybourbonpod/Twitter: https://twitter.com/mybourbonpodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mybourbonpod/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/thisismybourbonpodcastPayPal, if you feel so inclined: PayPal.me/pritter1492Link to our Barrell Rye Armagnac Finished Pick: https://shop.whiskeyinmyweddingring.com/products/barrell-private-release-rye-1a03Support the show
