What if your carefully crafted training course could become a content campaign that actually drives behavior change? Most L&D professionals create amazing content that gets consumed once and forgotten. But what if that single course could spawn dozens of touchpoints that reinforce learning over time? We're seeing a shift where smart L&D teams are borrowing from marketing playbooks, and it's working. Rich Roll Podcast Key Takeaways Fitness is an expression of capacity, not just effort True fitness reflects your ability to perform a specific task or output, not how hard you trainConsistently + a well-designed program beats intensity and noveltyHire one good coach, adhere to the plan for at least 10 weeks, and measure progress before changing directionClarity and intent derive adaptation: Always start with a needs analysis: define your goal, then identify “defenders” – the factors currently preventing you from achieving itTraining must have a clear intent, tracked progress, and intelligent variationRandom workouts will still burn calories but help reach a specific goal Manage stress before chasing performanceAll stress (training, life, sleep, work) fills one stress bucket — overflow leads to injury or burnoutRemove performance anchors (junk miles, poor sleep, emotional stress) before adding performance acceleratorsOvertraining and recovery require patience: Most people are under-recovered, not overtrained; true overtraining causes physiological damage that can take months to a year to reverseBalance effort across zones: ~60% in work capacity, 10–20% skill/recovery, and only 5–10% in the “red zone”Recovery is the foundation of long-term adaptability: prioritize sleep, nutrition, and stress managementNutrition, metabolic flexibility, and NEAT matter more than you think Nutrition has a far greater impact on body composition than exercise; calorie expenditure from workouts is often overstatedActivity outside of exercise can make up 5–20% of total energy output; the body will upregulate or downregulate NEAT based on exercise Read the full notes @ podcastnotes.orgAndy Galpin is a PhD in exercise bioenergetics, professor at Parker University, and elite performance coach to professional and Olympic athletes. On this week's Espresso Martini, Chris and Matt break down Pete Hegseth's speech at Quantico, where he and President Trump summoned 800 generals and admirals for what turned out to be a culture-war lecture on grooming standards and “wokeness.” They examine what it says about civil-military relations in Trump's second term and the risks in treating the armed forces as a political prop. Then they turn to the Secret Service's discovery of a massive SIM-card farm in New York linked to swatting threats and fraud, and what it reveals about the intersection of cybercrime, sabotage, and telecom vulnerabilities. From there, they look at how the US government shutdown is playing out inside the intelligence community—why frontline missions continue while contractors and support staff face furloughs that erode resilience. Finally, they discuss MI6's launch of a new dark-web tool called Silent Courier, designed to encourage potential sources to walk in virtually, and weigh the promises and dangers of this digital era of espionage. What does Olympic-level athleticism have to do with how we age? A lot more than you might think. In this episode, Dr. Jeff Armstrong and Corbin Bruton explore the insights of legendary exercise physiologist Per-Olof Åstrand—especially his famous line: “Choose your parents wisely.” While Åstrand emphasized the genetic foundations of athletic potential, he also pointed to something far more encouraging: the powerful role of training, commitment, environment, and mindset. Together, Jeff and Corbin unpack how these principles apply far beyond the Olympic track and into our everyday lives—where the goal isn't gold, but a longer, stronger, more purposeful life. Whether or not you chose your parents wisely, this conversation will leave you equipped to train smarter, adapt well, and age intentionally. Please, support The Aging Well Podcast by hitting the ‘like' button, subscribing/following the podcast, sharing with a friend, and….BUY the products you need to… age well from our trusted affiliates and support the mission of The Aging Well Podcast*.The Aging Well Podcast merchandise | Show how you are aging well | Use the promo code AGING WELL for free shipping on orders over $75 | https://theagingwellpodcast-shop.fourthwall.com/promo/AGINGWELLBerkeley Life | Optimize nitric oxide levels | Purchase your starter kit at a 15% discount | Use the promo code: AGINGWELL15 | https://berkeleylife.pxf.io/c/6475525/3226696/31118Rebalance Health | products created by hormone health experts to lower cortisol, improve sleep, and minimize the impact of stress on the body and mind | https://rebalancehealth.com/AgingWellProlon | The Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) is a revolutionary five-day nutrition program scientifically formulated to mimic the effects of a prolonged water fast while still allowing nourishment - supporting the benefits of fasting without the challenges and risks that come from water-only fasts. | For the best available discount always use this link: https://prolonlife.com/theagingwellpodcastL-Nutra Health | The medical division of L-Nutra, focused on helping people manage and potentially reverse chronic health conditions, like type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, and obesity, using personalized, lifestyle-based programs grounded in evidence, not prescriptions. | Use this link: https://l-nutrahealth.com/theagingwellpodcastThrive25—Your personal longevity advisor | https://www.thrive25.com/early-access?via=william-jeffreyFusionary Formulas | Combining Ayurvedic wisdom with Western science for optimal health support. | 15% off Code: AGINGWELL | https://fusionaryformulas.com/Jigsaw Health | Trusted supplements. “It's fun to feel good.” | Click the following link for 10% off: https://www.jigsawhealth.com/?rfsn=8710089.1dddcf3&utm_source=refersion&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=8710089.1dddcf3Auro Wellness | Glutaryl—Antioxidant spray that delivers high doses of glutathione (“Master Antioxidant”) | 10% off Code: AGINGWELL at https://aurowellness.com/agingwellpodcastDr Lewis Nutrition | Fight neurodegeneration and cognitive decline with Daily Brain Care by Dr Lewis Nutrition—a proven daily formula designed to protect and restore brain function. | 10% off code: AGINGWELL or use the link: https://drlewisnutrition.com/AGINGWELLTruDiagnostic—Your source for epigenetic testing | 12% off Code: AGEWELL or use the link: https://shop.trudiagnostic.com/discount/AGEWELL*We receive commission on these purchases. Men, the battle is here. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Jared Staudt from Exodus 90 to issue a bold call: prepare for spiritual war through St. Michael's Lent, starting August 15th.Your marching orders have arrived. We dive deep into the origins and spiritual power of St. Michael's Lent, a 40-day Catholic challenge inspired by the great St. Francis of Assisi and rooted in ancient tradition. Learn why this penitential season is critical for men today, how the Exodus 90 team has structured it for modern warriors, and why discipline, order, and sacrifice are the weapons we need now more than ever. You'll learn the why behind each discipline and how each is crafted to bring order to your soul, sharpen your spiritual edge, and strengthen your mission as a man of God.We discuss:The spiritual and psychological warfare men face todayThe demonic hatred of order and how discipline drives demons outThe role of St. Michael the Archangel in exorcisms and daily spiritual combatWhy rest, leisure, and celebrating the Lord's Day are battle strategies, not indulgencesHow true fraternity unlocks spiritual breakthroughs men cannot achieve aloneChallenge Issued in this Episode: Step into the breach. Find a fraternity. Get the app. Sign up for St. Michael's Lent. Offer your disciplines for your family. Wake up at 2 a.m. and pray like the Desert Fathers. Let your body rest and your soul fight. The Church needs men who are ready. Are you one of them?Key Takeaway:Order is a weapon. Demons hate structure. Your disciplines form a spiritual perimeter. Build it. Guard it. Live it.Three Powerful Quotes from the Episode:“When you wake up in the night and everyone else is asleep, you're not breaking off from work or putting your phone down — you're just entering right into prayer.”“We're not called to suffer pointlessly. Every act of self-denial must have a purpose — for God, for your wife, for your children, for your brothers.”“Saint Michael didn't negotiate with evil. He cast it out. Men today need that same fire in their hearts.”Featured Resources & Products:Exodus 90 App – https://exodus90.com --> SIGN UP TODAY!St. Michael's Lent – Begins August 15thBeer of Norcia – Brewed by Benedictine monks (mentioned by Dr. Staudt)Books by Dr. Jared Staudt:How the Eucharist Can Save CivilizationThe Primacy of GodWords Made FleshFollow Exodus 90 on all social media platforms hereSend us a text Support the showPlease prayerfully consider supporting the podcast on our Buy Me A Coffee page. to help grow the show to reach as many men as possible! About 1/4 way into the Major League Baseball season, and you may not be a pro, but experts say you can train like one! We talk on this shorter episode about strengthening your core, flexibility, and faith when times get tough - when you're up to bat in life. Baseball movies teach us lessons. So does discipline when it comes to the principles of fitness and faith. One specific workout called the "hurling exercise" can help with the core aka foundation of your muscles. How about yoga? And the benefits of eating healthier? The sport is sometimes compared to a religion. Baseball's lessons include the power of teamwork and getting grace from God when we're facing those curveball, fastballs in critical moments of our lives. He can work miracles, coming up to bat for us. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast, which I hope you'll subscribe to! Share it with your friends. He and his wife, Riley, founded Down Range Strength, specializing in assessment and selection train-ups, powerlifting and strongman prep around deployments, and injury prevention for elite military units. They also run World's Strongest Operator, an invite-only strongman event honoring fallen operators. Jordan holds a Master's in Kinesiology and certifications from the CSCCa and NSCA. His journey began in a powerlifting gym, where a veteran conjugate crew set him on the path to training warriors.
