Things Will Be Better Tomorrow - Leading Through Tough Times | Jason Fisher"You are the average of the people you surround yourself with. Find those people that will help you push towards the direction you want to go and help you improve."In today’s episode of the podcast Walk In Victory our guest is life coach Jason from Columbus (Ohio). His background is pretty colorful and it involves theater, pastoral ministry and business consulting services. On top of that, he does coaching. You can check out his podcast "Be Better Tomorrow." The title of the podcast refers to all of us trying to be better people; we need to compare ourselves to the person we were yesterday and take small steps to be better tomorrow.Jason says that his transition from being a pastor into being a life coach was simple and came naturally; he used all the skills he learned to make his methods and approach unique. Coaching is a system of drawing answers out of people that are already in them, you just need to ask the right questions to draw out the answers that people may already have or at least questions they need to ask. People need to figure out themselves what the problem is and how to deal with it. If you have a direction, you can get through all the difficult stuff because your desire will drive you through all the way.Jason makes a point of having an hour and a half or two hours in a day just for yourself, when you do whatever you like: meditate, read, listen to a podcast… These are small building blocks that help you get through the day and this is where your discipline begins. You need to have a starting place and a place where you want to go, something that represents ‘more’ for you and your passion will get you there.Sometimes we get so attached to something that we do not want to let it go, and as ridiculous as it may sound, we can get attached to failure too; it is called self-sabotaging! The question is how we overcome the dark periods we go through? Jason quotes what Ben Hardy wrote in his book, which can be summarized as follows: It is important to see yourself in the past, present and future as different people. Your focus should be on what would make you happy in the future, rather than looking back on your past failures. On the topic of post COVID-19 and job loss, Jason says that this is the time to decide what it is that we really want to do and use the given opportunity to prepare for the future instead of worrying. Take a chance to improve yourself, learn a new skill and start something new. However, it is easier said than done because people are hesitant about spending their money in self-improvement.Email: tillman@oneministries.churchFollow us on Twitter and Instagram: https://twitter.com/narontillmanspc & https://www.instagram.com/narontillman/?hl=en[1] https://www.iheart.com/podcast/966-walk-in-victory-51337572/[2] https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/be-better-tomorrow/id1439311982[3] https://benjaminhardy.com/Sent from my iPhone

3 Civil Rights Facts Everyone Needs to Know Now | James Gray

3 Civil Rights Facts Everyone Needs to Know Now | James Gray “We can’t win this war on police brutality by fighting, we have to be intellectual and come together!” James GrayIn today’s episode of the podcast Walk In Victory[1] we continue our talk with James Gray, an African American historian, political consultant and actor. We will focus on parallelism between modern day events and historical events in order to draw similarities, which will help us understand the narrative better and thus act accordingly. Gray says that the culture of racism is something that was built over time by unaccepted behavior and the social environment allowed it to mature to what it is now.We will discuss three cases related to the civil rights movement. The first one is the case of Emmett Till[2], the 14-year-old victim of police brutality. His mother let the photographers take a picture of his body in an open casket and the photograph let the whole world see the injustice. Here we draw a parallel with the case in Georgia where the video of the beating went viral, with the same effect. In other words, we’re still dealing with a serious level of racial injustice all across the board. The black community doesn’t have resources to defend themselves in court. In the light of that, Gray organizes legal nights where he and his colleagues give attorneys pro bono to the people in need.Another parallel that we discuss is the one dividing America then and now. In the past, it was the North and the South, each with its own roots, and today we have an example of the President allowing each of the federal states to operate on their own terms (related to the opening of the states after the corona outbreak). The second case related to the civil rights movement is the one of Mack Charles Parker[3] and the third one is the Wall Street Case[4].We also talk about John Africa[5] and the MOVE Organization (Philadelphia). The members of the move didn’t want to participate in the USA government program and went off the grid to train and prepare for the battle. They’re known for two major conflicts with the Philadelphia Police Department, the more brutal one was in 1985 when the FBI dropped a bomb from a helicopter on the MOVE compound, killing eleven MOVE members, including five children! The question is how do we bring these stories into a modern day context. Gray thinks that it is vital for a black child to know his history, to be proud about it and about themselves because a child that is empowered on that level is less likely to drop out of school or end up in prison and more likely to go to college.Furthermore, we talk about the Civil War and free labour. Gray mentions worker’s mentality in a black community - even today the African Americans go to work for a slave wage, especially during these hard times caused by COVID-19.The last thing we discuss is generational curse. Gray believes it can be broken in any moment because we can decide that we’re not going to be the victims of the curse and that will be the day we start living a better life. We have to be more powerful thinkers and more confident with ourselves in order to really break through this stuff.

Gospel Music NYC - Can The Choir Be Revived? | Lindsey Williams"If you are going to be a leader, know who you are meant to lead, be true to who you are and to what is given to you. Everything will come organically." Lindsey Williams (Divine Connection)Today our guest is Lindsey Williams, a church musician and an artist who helped many churches build a church music ministry. As a child, he played drums and at the age 15 he started playing the organ just to show his competitive friend he can do it too. One thing followed the other and soon enough Lindsey started preaching, which helped him get out of his shell and be out front. He describes himself as a choir guy who writes songs out of a heart and he finds his inspiration in a sermon or a current situation. It is very hard for people out of New York to penetrate the music scene in Brooklyn and Lindsey made it nevertheless. He was constantly looking for the opportunities to help people and play music. For him, it was not about money, but about getting the experience. In order to be the best, you have to be surrounded by the best (which is why he came to New York) and have a hunger for what you do. His advice is: have love for what you do and if you are going to do something, aspire to be like the ones who are already doing it. One of Lindsey's greatest pieces of advice came from bishop Walker: "If you want a successful music ministry, you have to pray". That is why he puts great emphasis on finding the time to pray for everything he does and holds dear. Divine Connection Music Ministry is his vision of a church choir, a project he started 5 years ago by including the members outside of his church (St. John 'Bible' Baptist Church). Most of the songs sung by a choir are originally written by Minister Lindsey. In the beginning of his career, Lindsey did strong covers that everybody knew - you can't miss with a hit that's already a hit! After he made a name for himself, he introduced his own music and people liked it. For him, it is important that an artist reinvents themselves, but not completely change who they are. He is always glad when his songs get out, but he never glories in his victories. He rather moves on and pushes through obstacles. He concludes the interview by saying the following:

North Dakota Governor - Politics During Covid-19 | DuWayne Hendrickson In today's episode of podcast Walk In Victory, hosted by pastor NaRon Tillman, we are interviewing DuWayne Hendrickson (Libertarian party), a runner for Governor of North Dakota.Hendrickson is an experienced politician who emphasizes the importance of having good relationships with legislators and the ability to work with them in order to be a successful politician. He also believes that people will choose to vote for Libertarians because they know what he fights for and where he stands politically. His finances are tight, practically non-existent, which is why he is fundraising for the campaign. However, he stays optimistic and states that in his first run for Governor he had under 10 dollars for the campaign and still won many votes. Regarding the transformation of energy from solar panels to wind energy in relation to climate change, Hendrickson points out that he does not believe in climate change and the feasibility of scientific experiments. North Dakota was one of the first countries that opened up after the Corona outbreak. Their Governor did a good job during the crisis; however, there were 35 000 people who lost their jobs and some even committed suicide. No one is to blame, but in Hendrickson's opinion, the country didn't open soon enough. The speakers are wondering if someone turned a profit on ventilators in New York's hospitals, the city that was hit the most when it comes to COVID-19. Hendrickson keeps stressing the importance of being careful all the time, as it is the best way to stay healthy and protected. Not so long ago, North Dakota was a very rich and lucrative country, and now it is destitute. Hendrickson's platform revolves around making the country stand back on its feet by eliminating property taxes. If he manages to do so, the money would be spent inside the community instead of being spent on paying the taxes. Also, he wants to increase their revenue, legalize cannabis and finish the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library. When asked how much money he would need to raise for his campaign, Hendrickson replied around 100,000 dollars at least. He says that common sense is what matters when it comes to the election, not the money machine and he is not worried about achieving his goal.
