Colin G Paterson is the Arts & Entertainment Correspondant for the BBC and has worked as a presenter and journalist for over 20 years. From The Big Breakfast to 5Live to Glastonbury to the Oscars he has always been the man with the mic asking questions of the rich and famous and has done it all with wit and the sort of cheeky grin that gets answers. "I just admire people who are happy in their own skin" It can be so easy to put so-called successful people on a pedestal, but the truth is many of them are driven by a sense of disquiet and fear. That's not to cast judgement – it's just a fact, as Adrian Chiles told me. The former Daybreak and One Show presenter hosts a radio show on 5Live where he interviews high performers, and that is certainly a phenomenon he has noticed too. So don't buy into the hype that successful people are special, cos they're not. And being successful is not the recipe for happiness. Flow on the other hand, when we lose our sense of self as we get absorbed in an activity that is enjoyable for its own sake, is inherently satisfying, which speaks volumes when you really explore why – as I have done elsewhere and in my book. My book Champion Thinking: How To Find Success Without Losing Yourself draws on some of my favourite interviews over the last six years. In it, I seek to challenge our ideas about 'success', and where peace, joy and fulfilment are truly to be found. 'This book captures the magic of being in flow . . . Highly recommend' RONNIE O'SULLIVAN 'Entertaining and enlightening' MATTHEW SYED 'This book will challenge your thinking on what success truly is and will give you tools to "succeed" in life in the truest sense of the world. This is definitely not just another book about sport and those who happen to be good at it' -- GOLDIE SAYERS 'The intention behind this book is beautiful, and I highly recommend it' RUPERT SPIRA 'The best guide we have to what it means to be human' AMOL RAJAN Order here: https://www.simonmundie.com/book Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Champion-Thinking-Success-Without-Yourself/dp/1526626497/ Website: simonmundie.com YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/YouTubeSimonMundie Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/simonmundie/ Substack Newsletter: https://simonmundie.substack.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. Professor Ian Goldin explores globalisation, and asks how far the world is fragmenting politically and economically, and what the consequences of that could be. Since around 1990, with the end of the Cold War, the opening of China, global agreements to reduce trade barriers and the development of the internet, there has been a dramatic acceleration of globalisation. But its shortcomings are under the spotlight. Governments are making policy choices that protect their industries, and there's a knock on effect on other countries and consumers around the world. How can the challenges be addressed? With contributions from: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation. Sexual experiences involve the participation of both our bodies and our minds; and so the relationship that we have with our bodies and how we think and feel about them can hugely influence our experience of sex. Body confidence is something that comes up a huge amount in the therapy room for both men and women. Whilst it may not be explicitly obvious that it's why we are struggling with sex and intimacy; challenges with body confidence and negative thoughts about our bodies can distract and disconnect us from these experiences. This can then further inhibit desire, arousal and someone's experience of pleasure.   My guest for this episode is someone who has been through real highs and lows with the relationship with her body, and speaks honestly about how that's had a ripple effect into different areas of her life and wellbeing. Lauren Black is a body confidence and fashion influencer and founder of a new brand called Love Glow Heal. I wanted to have this conversation with Lauren as she has been very public about the fact that she has been in anorexia recovery since June 2020, and she has documented her whole recovery journey online. She's been featured on BBC Radio 1, ITV, GMB and 5LIVE and was interviewed on the BBC documentary The Instagram Effect.   Instagram @imlaurenblack   Love Glow Heal @loveglowheal   •••   This episode focuses on building a healthy and loving relationship with ourselves, learning to love our bodies, and building confidence along the way. And I couldn't have picked a better guest than Lauren Black, whose story is packed with helpful relationship advice and tips on developing strong confidence while staying true to yourself. The award-winning pleasure brand LELO is the sponsor of this episode, with a special treat for all listeners. Use the code KATELELO at lelo.to/KATEMOYLE to pick a luxurious sexy toy and get a gift with every purchase     •••   The Sexual Wellness Sessions is hosted by Kate Moyle, a Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist and Certified Psycho-Sexologist. Kate believes that so much of what needs normalising when it comes to sex and relationships can be changed through conversation; and this is why the podcast is focused around the idea of hosting informal but informative conversations.   Follow Kate on Instagram at @KateMoyleTherapy

My guest today is passionate about ensuring all women have equal access to working in sports media. Sports presenter Jacqui Oatley was awarded an MBE in 2016 for her services to broadcasting and diversity in sport. Jacqui is best known by many as the first female commentator to appear on the BBC's Match of the Day, which she went on to present in 2015. A Director of the Women in Football network Jacqui anchored the Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2013 Euros for BBC, and then the men's 2016 Euros and 2018 World cup coverage for ITV Sport. She was presenter of the BBC's flagship sports news show Sportsweek on 5Live and now hosts football and darts for ITV and recently appointed the first female host of Sky Sports hugely popular Sunday Supplement show. It's no wonder that in 2015 Jacquie was named as the 8th most influential woman in sport by the Independent. Jacqui talks about her lifelong obsession with football, how she changed careers at 27 to re-train as a journalist and how lonely and isolated she felt after the hideous build up to her first appearance on Match of The Day.

The candid confessional of an alcoholic doctor gripped listeners of Victoria Derbyshire's 5Live phone in last week. Lots of people praised the presenter's "sensitive handling" as listener "Rachel" talked about her long term battle with drink and depression. But what steps are taken to ensure that candid confessional is not just mass entertainment? Roger Bolton talks to Louisa Compton, daytime editor of 5Live.How many BBC journalists does it take to report a revolution? Too many, say many Feedback listeners, who believe, for example, that Jim Naughtie's presence in Cairo for the Today programme was one too many. Roger talks to Fran Unsworth, the BBC's head of newsgathering who justifies the numbers. And getting the accents right in BBC drama. At a time when the BBC Trust is encouraging Radio 4 to reach out further to listeners outside of London and the south east - should more care be taken over regional accents? We ask an expert linguist to listen to a recent afternoon play and give his verdict.Producer: Karen Pirie A Whistledown production for BBC Radio 4.
