The Town park the Premier League action for the magic of the FA Cup as Bolton Wanderers are the visitors to Kenilworth Road for a third round tie on Sunday afternoon. Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead of the Hatters' opening match in the competition with a reflection on the importance of the cup, both to the Town and to the two chaps. But first of all, the news broke hours before recording that Andros Townsend had signed a contract extension to stay a Hatter for the foreseeable future, so we discuss his move and his impact since joining the club.  The attention then turns to the visit of Bolton, where two former Luton players were expected to be involved, however that is already down to just one with the news that Carlos Mendes-Gomes is already away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Two other potential dangers are highlighted. The boys then put themselves into the shoes of Rob Edwards to try and come up with the potential starting XI for the game. Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from St. James' Park alongside Jamie Carragher, Shay Given, and Andros Townsend, and they discussed and analysed the major talking points from Liverpool's dramatic 2-1 win against Newcastle which was delivered by two late goals from substitute Darwin Nunez. The visitors' victory was made even more impressive as they played the majority of the game with ten players after Virgil Van Dijk was dismissed shortly after Anthony Gordon gave the hosts the lead. Carragher labelled the victory as one of Jurgen Klopp's best victories as a manager. Van Dijk's red card wasn't the only moment of controversy as Trent Alexander-Arnold was involved in two separate incidents early in the first half but avoided a second yellow card. Both Carra and Given agreed that the full-back should have been sent off.Carragher also said Liverpool can challenge Manchester City this season and be their biggest rivals again but they need to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes on Friday. Speaking with Pat Davison after the match, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe felt the match could have been more comfortable had his players been more ruthless in front of goal, whilst Jurgen Klopp said that the result was even harder than their famous 4-0 home win over Barcelona in 2019, that saw them overturn a three-goal deficit on aggregate to reach the Champions League final.
