Maisie Adam continues the astonishing story that has rocked women's football in France. Its the aftermath of the arrest of Aminata Diallo, she and her lawyers contest the bail terms to allow her to continue her football career abroad.Kheira Hamraoui, meanwhile, so long the target of acrimonious abuse for supposedly unfairly leading the police to Diallo's door for the original arrest, is suddenly viewed in a more sympathetic light. The public, the fans and the players, or at least those who called her, are all now given good cause to reflect on their actions. Having looked to be on her way out at PSG, Hamraoui's determination to fight for her place at PSG pays off as she not only returns to the first team, but plays well enough to earn a recall to the French squad just months ahead of the World Cup. However, in another twist, something close to mutiny breaks out in the player ranks of the national team, and there are suggestions its partly connected to the Diallo-Hamraoui affair. Then at the end of the season comes the decision by PSG not to renew her contract. For Hamraoui its the final blow in what has been a harrowing 18 months for her. For both players now its the agonising wait for a trial date, although both are looking for very diiferent kinds of closure. Defence and prosecution make their final summaries and the scene is set for the last episode and an exclusive interview with the accused, Animata Diallo. Police wiretaps capture incendiary, and potentially incriminating conversations and whatsapp messages, while statements from the group of men accused of carrying out the attack on Kheira Hamraoui name the mastermind. Its the most shocking development yet as the police return to the home of Diallo to re-arrest her – and this time she appears before an investigative judge and is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy.Meanwhile selected details gleaned from the secret surveillance of her phone and Diallo's personal electronic devices find their way to the media, each revealing a range of explosive exortations and some very dubious internet searches. While parts of the leaked psychiatric reports and psychological profiling of Diallo also add to an unfavourable picture. But is everything as it seems? Diallo's lawyers and her close friend Shaheen Malik offer their defences of each and every accusation and revelation. While the Versailles public prosecutor Maryvonne Caillibotte shines a light on the processes and evidence that led them back to Diallo's door. So you can play the part of judge and jury as you'll hear the case from all sides. Maisie Adam continues the shocking story of a brutal attack at Paris Saint-Germain that turned close team-mates into bitter rivals, damaging lives, careers and reputations. The fragile harmony in the dressing room is finally and irrevocably broken with a training ground bust-up that has repercussions for the team in the Champions League. And pushes the embattled Kheira Hamraoui to breaking point. Meanwhile head coach Didier Olle-Nicolle who has continued to select Hamraoui for the team despite external pressures to drop her, finds himself at the centre of serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a young PSG player. Suspended by the club while a formal investigation takes place a horrified and shocked Olle Nicolle must fight to clear his name. The claims against him are subsequently proved untrue and without any basis whatsoever but its a harrowing time for him, describing himself as “collateral damage” in the latest fall-out from the Diallo-Hamraoui affair. The two players themselves are both about to experience summers of discontent. For Diallo its the end of the road at PSG, a new contract failing to materialise. While for Hamraoui it soon becomes apparent she faces an uncertain, and for her an unhappy future at the club. There appears to be no end to her trials and tribulations. As the 2022/23 season starts Hamraoui is in near exile at the club, training alone away from the first team. For Diallo though she is effectively now unemployed, without a club, at the age where she should be approaching her peak playing days. But that is not the worst of her troubles. Because on the 16th September 2022 there's another knock at her door from the poilce and this time they have statements and wiretaps to back up their suspicions. She's arrested again – and this time charges will be made.Narrator Maisie Adam Interviews: Charlotte Harpur and Tom Williams Voices for interviewees performed by: Janine George, Chyna Johnson, Tom Roberts and Colin Ryan Translation for the Aminata Diallo interview: Laura Bennett Script consultant: Dave Bowler Researchers: Rob Carroll and Janet Hughes Assistant Producer: Jennifer Hanratty-Ball Editor: Kevin Hinde Assistant Commissioner for the BBC: Lizzi Doyle Commissioning Executive: Stevie Middleton Executive Producer: Craig South Writer and Producer: Jonathan SidesA PDI Media production for BBC Sounds and BBC Radio 5Live

New episodes released on Wednesdays. If you're in the UK, listen to Sport's Strangest Crimes first on BBC Sounds. bit.ly/3DbxNzhFrench international footballer Kheira Hamraoui is in shock after being dragged from the car of her PSG team-mate Aminata Diallo, and then having her legs beaten black and blue by a masked man. But who did it? And who planned it? And why? Diallo goes unscathed during the attack, and takes her injured team-mate's place in the team to face Real Madrid in the Champions League. Playing a key role in a comprehensive 4-0 win life seems good for Diallo, with the extended run she'd craved now looking very likely. Until 6am the following morning that is - and an unexpected visit from the police.....Diallo goes from a rocking, euphoric Parc des Princes to a miserable, foul-smelling cell at Versailles jail in a matter of hours. With echoes of the infamous fall out between American ice skaters Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan, the world's media pick up on the story, and two relatively little known footballers are about to acquire the worst possible notoriety.Professional rivalry, jealousy, the desire to take a team-mate's place for both club and country is considered as a motive. But the players' private lives also come under scrutiny and investigators unearth a secret affair between Hamraoui and a married male ex-French football superstar, which becomes public knowledge – and with devastating consequences. As Diallo is released without charge, but not without suspicion, Hamraoui is now subject to the full glare of media scrutiny and online judgement and abuse. Her personal nightmare is only just beginning. Maisie Adam continues the incredible story of the organised hit on the French international footballer that took place in the leafy suburbs of Paris in November 2021. Despite a flying start to the season for the PSG's women's team there are the first rumblings of discontent and trouble behind the scenes. Head coach Didier Olle-Nicolle discovers Kheira Hamraoui in tears at the training ground and makes an alarming discovery about some mysterious and disturbing phonecalls made to her PSG team mates. Then a team bonding night out ends in the bloody and brutal beating of Hamraoui by a group of masked men. As the player reflects on what happened in the days that follow her suspicions about the involvement of a team mate begin to form. But surely it can't be her? Or can it? There are two sides to every story, more than one interpretation of every action and remember every crime needs means, motive and opportunity. So is everything as clear cut as it seems to Hamraoui? With passionately put arguments from the legal teams representing the victim and the accused you'll have the chance to decide.... Maisie Adam introduces the story of a brutal attack at Paris Saint-Germain that turned close team-mates into bitter rivals just months after a holiday in paradise together. Aminata Diallo and Kheira Hamraoui, both French international midfielders at PSG one of the biggest clubs in world football, appeared to be the best of friends. In the summer of 2021 they spent a vacation together in Zanzibar on the coast of East Africa, ahead of the new season. Yet within months Diallo would be arrested, accused of involvement in organising an attack on Hamraoui that targetted her legs in a deliberate attempt to cause serious injury. So who is Aminata Diallo? And why do the police believe she is guilty? And who is Kheira Hamraoui? And why has she become a target to be attacked in this way? Was this assault motivated by jealousy and ruthless career ambition on the part of Diallo? Or is it connected to Hamraoui's soon to be exposed private life? And could this even be a potential miscarriage of justice? The investigation starts here....With the case still to come to court this is the chance to hear evidence from those close to Diallo and Hamraoui – and make your own mind up. Like all good crime dramas, in this series we'll be examining the means, the motive and the opportunity. Professor Ian Goldin explores globalisation, and asks how far the world is fragmenting politically and economically, and what the consequences of that could be. Since around 1990, with the end of the Cold War, the opening of China, global agreements to reduce trade barriers and the development of the internet, there has been a dramatic acceleration of globalisation. But its shortcomings are under the spotlight. Governments are making policy choices that protect their industries, and there's a knock on effect on other countries and consumers around the world. After humble beginngs in Northern Ireland and difficulty at school, Colin Murray's success was not a given. But his driving work ethic, intelligence and passion have delivered him to dizzying heights. Throughout the 1990's he slid from the news room into music journalism, eventually finding himself on BBC Radio 1, where he broadcast to the nation for a decade. In 2003, he jumped onto our screens as one of the hosts of the breakfast show RI:SE on Channel 4 and, over time, became one of the go-to voices and youth of music, TV, and radio. Since then he's moved to BBC Radio 5Live, and showcased a deep love and knowledge for sport, presenting for Match of The Day 2, Talk Sport and, of course, on his fantastic show, 'Fighting Talk' which he presents every Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. It's clear that his career has blossomed, but he's chosen not to have a family or children. Now, at 45, is that a choice he still stands by? Are the physical changes of midlife breaking his stride? And how has he mellowed in his approach to life as a whole?  We also hear from Alexis Willis, author of How Much Brain Do We Really Need? who explains what we can do to develop and protect our brain health, into midlife and beyond.

Hello dear listeners - another heavy home defeat for the Lions last night. The fourth time we've been beaten at home by more than two clear goals (c) Harry Warren. Joining me on this post match review are Aaron Paul of BBC Radio 5Live, Michael Avery and Mike Hayden …But for the Covid19 travel restrictions, my first inclination was to review this decisive shellacking by saying that the Lions ‘were already on the beach'. Except that foreign travel remains restricted as I write these notes. So perhaps they were all mentally on Allhallows stone beach, kipping in one of the caravans after a heavy night in the site social club.Because make no mistake, the 1-4 scoreline flattered Millwall. It really could (and maybe should) have been six - seven or arguably eight behind to a very decent Bournemouth side, whose movement and pace totally outfoxed the home side. The easy option in these situations is to blame the old lags like Alex Pearce, inexplicably started yet again in what was a dead rubber game from our perspective - though not the play-off chasing Cherries'. From the front to the back line, this Millwall team looked uninterested and sluggish in the evening sunshine of South Bermondsey.Defensive errors too numerous to mention were behind each of the goals, but crucially these self-inflicted mishaps were combined with an away side determined to win their way back into the Premier League by hitting form just as the play-off lottery is about to begin. A wicked combination to say the least. For Millwall, the summer clear-out can't come quick enough. Who knows that the football transfer market will look like in these post pandemic, debt ridden times. But one thing is for certain, the league table doesn't lie and the Lions are much 11th in the table - and deservedly so.PLEASE LEAVE US A REVIEW ON APPLE PODCASTS! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/achtung-millwall-podcast/id1006650617ACHTUNG! Murder cases that take nearly four decades to solve are rare and usually reserved for when there is no idea as to the identity of the perpetrator. The brutal killings of Peta Frampton and Chris Farmer in Latin America in 1978 should have seen the suspect Silas Duane Boston arrested and convicted quickly – especially as there were two witnesses: his sons. But a case such as this doesn’t get a podcast – the BBC’s Paradise – devoted to the tale if things are straightforward. Far from it, in fact.Boston’s sons were young and scared of their father, only coming forward decades later. Law enforcement agencies, armed with snippets of information about the disappearance of Peta and Chris, did not put the pieces together for years.BBC journalists Dan Maudsley and Stephen Nolan tell the story of Chris and Peta, Silas and his sons, and the investigation – uncovering many new details and discoveries along the way.Their journey takes them to a crime convention, lawyer and police offices in the US, the homes of Chris and Peta’s family members in England and a trip to the region where the murders took place, including a graveyard as Dan and Chris’s sister search for the graves of the victims.Listeners will soon realise that Dan’s work on the Paradise case is not over, as he explains in this episode of MetaPod.

Roger Bolton hears from listeners concerned by coverage of anti-Brexit marches, Garry Richardson defends a controversial interview with Kim Hughes and Lynn Bowles says farewell. The weekend saw the March For Our Lives in Washington DC and a series of anti-Brexit marches across the UK, but BBC news executives only covered the first of these. Pro-EU listeners were incensed. UK News Editor Richard Burgess joins Roger Bolton to defend the BBC's decision and discuss what makes a demonstration newsworthy. Radio 2 listeners were practically inconsolable when beloved traffic reporter Lynn Bowles announced her departure from the network, with her final broadcast coming on Thursday. Lynn sits down with Roger to explain why she's leaving, look back on a career sat next to Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce and Chris Evans, and discuss her plans for the future. A ball tampering scandal has rocked the world of cricket, but Sportsweek presenter Garry Richardson made his own waves when he clashed with former Australian captain Kim Hughes while discussing the story on BBC Radio 5Live. After the presenter tried to hurry the interview to a close, Kim Hughes took offence and promptly hung up the phone. Garry Richardson then implied to a later guest that Hughes had been "boorish" - but, for some listeners, Garry was the one at fault for a regrettable incident. He talks to Roger about what happened. And the BBC released its annual plan this week, laying out schemes to combat fake news and appeal to younger audiences. Next week on Feedback, BBC Director of Radio and Music Bob Shennan joins the programme to chew over the BBC's long term plan for radio. Roger appeals to listeners for their questions. To mark the 20th anniversary of her untimely death, people from across the UK recall meeting Diana, Princess of Wales. Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 and was a fixture of British life for nearly two decades. And in this special programme, people who got to know her well, as well as those who only met her very briefly, reflect on their connection with the Princess Among those recalling their meetings with Diana - Charles Stonehill a friend of one of Diana's flatmates in the days before she was a member of the Royal family, former HIV nurse John O'Reilly who met her when she kissed hands with an Aids patient in 1987 and land mines survivor Jerry White who was with Diana just weeks before she died. Clothes designers Jacques Azagury and Paul Costello recall their first meetings with Diana while comedy actor Cleo Rocos talks about meeting Diana with Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and comedian and DJ Kenny Everett. There are anecdotes from astrologer Russell Grant, original EastEnders' star Anita Dobson and Falklands War veteran Simon Weston. Others recalling their meetings with Diana include Nick Hardy from Gloucestershire who recounts a kiss he's never forgotten and Annette Horner from East Yorkshire who met the Princess after giving birth to her first child. The Day I Met Diana is from an idea by Ian McCormick and is produced by Ashley Byrne and Iain Mackness. It is Made in Manchester Production for BBC Radio 5Live.

Following the confirmation that the UK had voted to leave the European Union, BBC Radio 5Live cancelled their planned schedules and extended their phone-ins after being contacted by thousands of listeners. But some Feedback correspondents question whether the result merited the such comprehensive coverage and why some sports coverage was shelved. Other listeners have also queried the benefit of hearing "outlandish claims" being made by callers. Gill Farrington, 5Live's Breakfast programme editor answers these listeners' queries. Feedback listeners also have concerns with how Radio 4 has been reporting on Brexit. Many feel that the station has a post-referendum tone of "doom and gloom". And over the next two weeks, Feedback is exploring the pioneering world of visual radio. What's in the pipeline for your viewing? Is it taking resources away from other areas? What works best for each station's audience? It begins in 5Live where the Head of Digital Will Cooper details his plans. And it's not often that we have an inbox full of audience members admitting to having cried at the radio, but narrative series The Boy Who Gave His Heart Away moved many listeners. The story unfolded over five days telling of two families faced with losing their children. Cole Moreton, who wrote and presented the series, gives the inside story of how it was made. Producer: Karen Pirie A Whistledown production for BBC Radio 4.

After The Now Show this week tackled gay marriage, child abuse and the Catholic church some Feedback listeners contacted us with concerns. Roger asks Jane Berthoud, BBC Radio's head of comedy, how her team assesses controversial material and whether in this case the right decisions were made. Robust and challenging - or simply a slanging match? When presenter Justin Webb first joined the Today programme he said he'd be gentle and let politicians have their say. Then he changed his mind. In this week's programme he joins BBC Radio 5Live's Victoria Derbyshire to discuss the difference between aggression and persistence in the political interview. And after many Feedback listeners reported hearing the repeated use of "Facades" by composer Philip Glass in an array BBC Radio programmes. we finally hear from the man himself. Ahead of his installment as BBC Radio 3's Composer of the Week, Philip Glass offers his own slightly surreal insight into the popularity of this particular piece.
