Join Anna and me for the seventh episode of our series, The Tudors: A Real Game of Thrones, where we explore the dramatic final chapter of Henry VIII's reign before his death in 1547.After the stormy 1530s, Henry dreamed of being young again, and this led him to the young and foolish Catherine Howard. She humiliated Henry by indulging the attentions of one of his favourite courtiers and she duly was sent to the chopping block. Meanwhile, his health deteriorated, plagued by a painful and worsening leg ulcer. Determined to assert his authority, he launched a final, ill-fated invasion of France and began reversing some of his earlier religious reforms. At the same time, he focused on securing the succession for his children. When Henry passed away in 1547, he left England in turmoil, and stability would not be restored until his daughter Elizabeth took the throne in 1558.You can also watch this episode as a video on YouTube. The Ministry of History offers more than just podcast episodes! This week we're joined by actor, comedian and playwright, Anna Morris, whose crime story enables her to display her inner Victorian lady, something that will leave any aspiring criminal quaking in their boots. The team then get involved in a story, which may be 500 years old, but illustrates just how little the monarchy has changed and that most of the current bunch would have been dispatched to The Tower without a second thought, but at least Anna can star in the film version! And to finish things off, a listener lets the cat out of the bag with a tear jerking tale from their childhood... In this episode, Anna and I dive deep into one of the most pivotal moments in English history—the break with Rome. What drove Henry VIII to sever ties with the Roman Catholic Church, a decision that would reshape the religious and political landscape of England forever? Was it purely his desire for an annulment from Catherine of Aragon, or were there deeper political and personal motivations at play? How did the quest for a male heir influence Henry's actions, and what role did figures like Anne Boleyn and Thomas Cromwell play in this dramatic turn of events?Join us as we unravel the intrigue, ambition, and drama behind Henry VIII's break with Rome. By the end of this episode, you'll have a deeper understanding of the man behind the crown and the lasting impact of his reign on history. You can also watch the video of this episode on Youtube. For more content and if you'd like to sign up to our mailing list to be notified whenever we release a new episode, then head over to The History Buff website. Anna Morris and I are back with another episode of The Tudors: A Real Game of Thrones! In this third instalment, we will be discussing the young life of Henry VIII and his early reign.Henry VIII is arguably England's most famous monarch. This is partly because of the drama and intrigue caused by his multiple marriages to six different women (with two of these ending in beheadings of the wife!) but also because England went through an enormous amount of change under his rule (more on that in later episodes). Henry wasn't originally meant to inherit the throne, his older brother Arthur was meant to do so, but Arthur died in 1502 at 15-years-old. This led to Henry becoming king and one of the most influential monarchs in history. What was Henry's young life like? Was he always the tyrant he became known for by the end of his life? How was his relationship with his father, Henry VII? What were Henry's priorities when he first came to the throne? Listen to this episode to find out!You can also watch the video of this episode on Youtube. For more content and if you'd like to sign up to our mailing list to be notified whenever we release a new episode, then head over to The History Buff website. The Tudors are Britain's most famous royal dynasty. They ruled over England from 1485 until 1603, and included England's two arguably most influential monarchs - Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. However, the Tudor dynasty also included many other fascinating and consequential monarchs such as Henry VII (the first Tudor monarch), Edward VI and Mary I (England's first female monarch). In this twelve-part series, I am joined by recurring history buff and someone who studied the Tudor dynasty, Anna Morris. She is a familiar face on the podcast, having joined me to discuss the Empress Sissi of Austria all the way back in the first series. We will cover everything from the end of the Battle of Bosworth Field and beginning of the Tudor Dynasty in 1485 all the way up to Elizabeth I's death at the end of her so-called Golden Age.In this first episode, we will talk about the end of the Wars of the Roses—a series of civil wars fought between the houses of Lancaster and York for control of the English throne from 1455 to 1487. We will discuss how Henry Tudor, a plucky Welsh-born descendant of John of Gaunt with a fairly tenuous claim to the English throne, ended up winning it on the blood-spattered field of Bosworth in 1485.You can watch the video of the episode on Youtube. For more content and if you'd like to sign up to our mailing list to be notified whenever we release a new episode, then head over to The History Buff website. For many of us who have been Christians for a while, it can be easy to become complacent in our walk with the Lord. In this episode, Second Year Student Anna Morris, a new believer, gives her testimony of coming to realize that there is nothing good in her flesh and that she needed Jesus for salvation as well as finding that she needs Him for the life of salvation. You will be reminded through her new believing “fresh eyes”, of the wonder and faithfulness of God as shown in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the Stupid Hearts Club! The Club for everyone with a Stupid Heart-------------------Hey you lotI had a lovely old chinny-waggle about comedy and anxiety with top lady funster Anna Morris this week. She is best known as the posh lady in Channel 4's Lee and Dean. I reckon despite talking about the angsty-wobbles in some depth here that there is also a fair bit of inspirational go for it type chat, so I hope that helps someone throw down their pinafore and reinvent themselves in the name of whatever thing they have always wanted to have a go at.In other news I have tested positive for Covid today and am feeling quite shit so am going to assume I might not get round to recording an ep in the week. Though we will see how bad I get it. I almost certainly got it from going into soho and doing my acoustic set on Thursday, but it was still worth it as it was a top night and I had waited so long to have a proper night out. Big up Guy and his GF Charlotte for coming down and representing the GSOH listenership.Tek careUncle Mummyx-------------------If you like what I do and you want to support me financially, as well as get access to some cool extras, please take a look at my Patreon! Extinction Rebellion are in the news daily. Whether it's due to a protest they have put together that has caused mayhem in the middle of London or whether they are being interviewed on the news about their views on climate change. Whatever the angle, they are everywhere. Just recently XR Shrewsbury protested in a bank in our town by doing a "die in" where they all lay on the ground. This caused me to be curious, what are the messages that XR are trying to tell us? So I got in touch! and this is an interview with Anna Morris and Richard Davies to do exactly that. The world is heading in a direction where money and consumerism is now more important than the planet itself, XR are here to tell people that changes need to be made. The fascinating episode introduces the listeners to Extinction Rebellion and explains many different ways you can help make changes, also how they intend to influence big, wholesale changes to our way of life to try and save the world. Thank you to XR Shrewsbury for helping me put this together, it was a truly insightful interview.
A few years ago, Anna and Derek Morris had everything that they ever wanted in Houston TX. Derek had a corporate job in the oil and gas industry and Anna was self-employed building a startup. They had a perfect house with a pool, a big yard and a mortgage so on paper they had the perfect, normal life. But their ripcord decision began to build and it peaked when they realized that their fear of doing nothing was greater than their fear of potentially screwing up their lives by quitting everything safe to travel the world. They made the daunting decision to live their motto, We Play Everywhere, and launched out into the unknown and chaotic world of constant travel. Their story includes.... The safe lives that they built in Houston. When they reached the point of their fear of doing nothing became greater than their fear of screwing up their lives. The process of getting rid of their stuff. What it was really like to travel and hit 30 countries with nothing but backpacks and carry-ons. What it was like coming back to the States after being gone for so long. Why they decided to road trip with their dog into Mexico. Their big house in Houston is now a distant memory after traveling through 30 countries and we catch up to them from a small little beach town in Mexico where they are regrouping on their next adventure which involves building a startup to solve their own travel problems that they encountered along the way. Thanks to Nifty Gosney for introducing me to Derek and Anna. If you know of a crazy story of letting go of everything safe to pursue a path less traveled, contact us at gohuntlife.com. ----Show Notes--- Weplayeverywhere.com Insta @annakmorris_ and @derekbmorris If you like this story of adventure travel, check out last week's episode with Will and Jessica Sueiro that hit the road with their 2 kids.
