This Podcast returns us to the wisdom of our great grandparents and ancestors who lived bravely and simply without all the extras of our modern day world.  Our work and conversation stems around approaches to adventure, and the mundane, for both are the great paradox of life. Each guest and episode will bring you to a new level of understanding and ever closer to the adventure that is seeking you, inside your soul, regardless of your current circumstances.  Many have forgotten that the adventure is NOW - wherever we are, whatever is happening, and whoever we do it with, as much as it is all that we have done and all that we will do.  Mothers, Caretakers and Women who crave elevated relationships and love animals and nature will especially resonate with our message, community and offerings.  Welcome!

In this episode of the podcast, Cat dives into the importance of truly listening — not just to the outside world, but to our own thoughts and beliefs. She explains how our brains operate in seasons and how recognizing these patterns can help us navigate personal growth more gracefully. Using the example of political discussions, Cat illustrates that it's often our underlying beliefs, not pure facts, that drive emotional reactions and conflicts. By becoming aware of these beliefs, we can better understand ourselves and others.Cat also stresses the importance of tuning into our bodies, paying attention to what they need, and honoring those signals as part of a holistic approach to well-being. As part of her "Mind Over May" initiative, she challenges listeners to set a meaningful personal goal and make a firm commitment to pursuing it, emphasizing the power of small, intentional actions over time. Bullseye the Clown on Being Seen, Humor and Healing

This episode dives into how we speak to ourselves, especially when negative self-talk arises, and how humor can be a powerful tool to shift our mindset, build compassion, and reconnect with others. Our guest, Brian Lee (aka Bullseye the Clown), shares how his life transformed from one marked by bullying and trauma to a purpose-driven mission of spreading joy through clowning.Brian begins each day with the question, “How can I bless someone today?”—a mindset practice that keeps him centered in a chaotic world. He shares how clowning helped him move from invisibility and pain to connection and healing, using humor to reframe internal narratives and uplift those who, like he once did, feel overlooked. His journey began after the death of his father, when he joined a clowning tour in Russia led by Patch Adams. Despite doubts, he discovered the power of presence and levity to transcend language and offer emotional connection, like when a simple wave to an elderly woman brought her to tears. That experience sparked a calling.Upon returning home, he launched Clown Fitness, engaging seniors through movement and play, and later founded Clowns on a Mission—a global initiative that provides supplies, meals, and human connection in underserved communities. His work centers on one theme: bringing joy and attention to the unseen.Brian is also the author of Bullseye on Bullying and the upcoming Be the Someone: Take Action in a World That Waits, encouraging everyday leadership and kindness.Ultimately, this episode is a testament to how laughter, presence, and service can gently disrupt negative thought patterns, not by avoiding pain, but by adding light to it.Bullseye's Take-Aways:Healing through Joy: A trip focused on clowning and spreading happiness helped Bullseye release years of emotional pain and trauma. Power of Presence: Clowning demands total emotional presence, making it an effective tool for personal healing and connection with others. Stigma vs. Reality: Despite the negative media portrayal of clowns, Bullseye has rarely faced hostility, demonstrating that authenticity can overcome stereotypes.Leadership Mindset: His philosophy—“Be the Someone”—encourages personal responsibility and grassroots action when facing social problems.Bullseye's Books: Bullseye on Bullying: A practical guide offering strategies for individuals dealing with bullying or domestic issues. https://www.amazon.com/Bullseye-Bullying-Blueprint-Beating-Bullies/dp/B09M4R7DRRBe the Someone: Take Action in a World That Waits (Coming Soon): Encourages readers to step into leadership roles and take action when needed, rather than waiting for others to act. In this minisode, I talk about how we can shift negative self-talk by learning to "talk to our brains" with kindness and humor. I share a story I saw online about someone who named her brain "Becky" and tells it, “We're not doing this today,” when negativity creeps in. It reminded me how we can reset our thoughts at any time.I explore the idea that thoughts often aren't based in the present moment, unlike real experiences—like the feeling of snow and sun on your face. I also touch on the importance of speaking kindly to ourselves and introduce the 5-to-1 praise-to-criticism ratio as a way to reframe our inner dialogue.I share a story about my daughter struggling with snowboarding, her own negative self-talk surfacing, and how I had to meet her with empathy. That experience reminded me to focus on what really matters—and to return to what brings us joy. For me, that's horses. They connect me to my truth.I wrap up by reflecting on Seth Godin's book This is Strategy: Make Better Plans, and how, like city roads that stay the same while buildings change, our mental "roads" are deeply ingrained. But we have the power to reroute our thoughts and clear our inner traffic. It all comes back to connection—between people, through adventure, and by speaking our truth.✨ It's not too late! ✨ You can still join the Courageous Women Rise Summit and catch my powerful conversation with the incredible Donna McGowan. When Do We Know the Joke Is Over?

In this episode of The Mom's Adventure Paradox, I reflect on the power of humor—especially in the messiness of parenting and real life. I kick things off with a live stream moment when I discovered toothpaste on my hairbrush during a team meeting… courtesy of my kids' April Fool's prank. That launched me into a bigger conversation: when do we know the joke is over?I share some personal stories—like a cringey-but-funny moment from my river guiding days involving a Boy Scout joke that definitely did not land with every audience. It was a reminder that context matters. Humor is a great teacher of timing, audience awareness, and knowing when to pivot.I also talk about my brief (and very amateur) foray into stand-up comedy and what I learned about pacing, punchlines, and the moment humor falls flat. Whether you're parenting, podcasting, or running a business, there's a season for everything—including the jokes that no longer serve us.I wrap things up by sharing a sweet Mother's Day card I found while cleaning out my desk, and reflecting on the joy, chaos, and beauty of it all. Sometimes, when we clear out the old, we make space for the magic to return—even if it's in the form of gummy candy and double-sided tape."Laughter is the shortest distance between two people." - Victor BorgeKey Takeaways:Humor has its limits—know when to stop.Whether it's a prank or a punchline, timing and audience matter. Not every joke lands, and that's okay—part of growth is learning from what doesn't work.Jokes can teach us about boundaries. From toothpaste on a hairbrush to telling off-color jokes in the wrong crowd, humor often highlights the importance of reading the room.Faith often follows fear.Big moves or creative leaps rarely feel "ready." Courage often shows up first, and faith comes after we've stepped out.Small joys bring clarity.Cleaning out a desk or rediscovering a sweet card from your child can realign you with what really matters. It's okay to let go of what's not serving you.Like clearing away the sticky tape on light switches, making space helps new, more joyful things come in.Be sure to check out my interview on the Courageous Women Rise Summit:  https://courageouswomenrise.com/Cat Support the showConnect with me in the following ways:www.theadventureparadox.com FacebookInstagramcatcaldwellmyers@gmail.com

In this short and humorous minisode of The Mom's Adventure Paradox, I dive into the theme: “Yeah, but does it turn you on?” — not in a risqué way, but in the sense of what lights you up in life. I reflect on a technical hiccup (being muted on Zoom), the value of having guests who keep you accountable, and the joy of engaging in things that truly excite you. I share a story about working with my horse, Jet — how even the things we love most can sometimes be frustrating. But that's okay. Passion isn't about feeling good all the time; it's about the deeper connection, joy, and purpose. I dive into what lights me up — like podcasting and hearing mind-expanding stories (yes, even one about water freezing in the shape of a hand). Those moments ignite something in me, and I invite listeners to notice what sparks that feeling for them too. Humor also plays a big role — from childhood jokes to the time a funny story landed me a radio show. I reflect on the power of humor to heal and connect, even when the jokes don't always land (like when I once bombed a stand-up set by going way over time). It's all part of the creative ride. Ultimately, this episode is a nudge: if listening turns you on, maybe it's time to start or guest on a podcast. Step into what excites you, and don't be afraid to be seen, heard, or even make a few people laugh along the way.

In this episode, I reflect on the power of listening to yourself and the importance of both what you say and what you don't say. I share how replaying our own words—whether through podcasting or voice notes—can offer new insights into our thoughts, emotions, and intentions. Sometimes, what we don't say holds the key to deeper self-awareness and clarity about our true desires.I also talk about dealing with scarcity and reframing our mindset. Using examples like weight loss or dissatisfaction at work, I explain how focusing on the negative perpetuates lack, while shifting to a mindset of abundance and possibility opens doors to growth. Additionally, I share my experiences of loss and how sudden tragedies can shift our perspective, encouraging us to say the things we've been holding back.Lastly, I explore the paradox of where life's challenges exist whether we choose to pursue an adventure or stay in our comfort zone. For me, choosing the adventure—whether it's raising kids in the mountains or navigating logistical hurdles for family ski trips—aligns with my values and the life I want to create.Key Takeaways:Listen to Yourself: Playing back your words can reveal insights about your true emotions and intentions, helping you understand what you really want to say.Ask What You're Not Saying: Sometimes, the unsaid holds the key to addressing underlying fears or desires.Reframe Your Mindset: Shifting from a perspective of scarcity to one of abundance can change how you approach challenges and goals.Life is Short: Losses and tragedies remind us to express ourselves fully and live authentically, even if it feels uncomfortable.Choose Your "Hard": Every path has challenges. Choosing the one aligned with your values leads to a more fulfilling life.Celebrate Joy Without Guilt: Sharing moments of joy, like a tropical vacation, can inspire others rather than provoke negativity.Adventure is Worth It: Even when it's logistically difficult, choosing adventure can create meaningful family memories and shared values. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." -Wayne Dyer  Support the showConnect with me in the following ways:www.theadventureparadox.com FacebookInstagramcatcaldwellmyers@gmail.com

This episode is an oldie but a goodie from 1 year ago! This episode is a deeply personal and transformative call to action centered around one simple but powerful question: "What did you just say?" I believe this question can act as a mirror to reflect whether our words truly align with our actions and values. By examining the disconnect between what we say we want and how we behave, we can identify and break free from the paradoxes that hold us back—like wanting change but resisting the effort it requires.Drawing from my own experiences as a fitness coach, a horse trainer, and personal stories (including a language-barrier mishap in France), I encourage you to confront the gap between your intentions and your actions. Whether it's striving for better health, pursuing your dreams, or setting firm boundaries, I emphasize the importance of honest self-reflection, deliberate action, and fully embracing the adventure of your life. The takeaway is simple yet profound: our words carry power, and choosing them with awareness and intention can help us live our best, most aligned lives. Despite the pain, she pushed through and skied a treacherous Russian road with limited snow.Day 2 – Birthday Couloir in Sparkles: While the injured skier took a rest day, three of us celebrated a friend's birthday by skiing a couloir—a narrow mountain pass—while wearing sparkles, embracing the joy of the moment.Day 3 – The Blister & Grit: One skier discovered a massive blister but continued skiing for two more days without complaints, showing incredible resilience.Day 4 – Facing Fear & Returning to Skiing: A friend of the injured skier debated leaving but ultimately overcame her hesitation and joined us on the journey to Lagazuoi, a stunning mountaintop hut.Day 5 – Reflection & Invitation: I encourage listeners to find their own “story of the day,” whether in travel, work, or personal life, and to reflect on the narratives they create for themselves.Reviews are vital to the success of this podcast!      In this minisode of The Mom's Adventure Paradox podcast, I explore the theme of disappointment—how it shows up in life and how I've learned to handle it with resilience (and a little bit of humor). From losing my favorite hat to facing weight loss struggles and business challenges, I share personal stories of setbacks and the mindset shifts that help me keep going. My recent skiing trip to the Dolomites taught me unexpected lessons about patience, self-acceptance, and embracing my body rather than fighting against it. I also open up about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, the importance of sharing struggles instead of bottling them up, and the mantra that's been guiding me lately: "This could be the start of a great story." I encourage listeners to reframe their disappointments, trust the process, and stay open to unexpected wins. Plus, I tease some exciting content coming in April, including a joke-a-day series and fantastic guest appearances. Through it all, I remind everyone (including myself!) to keep a sense of humor—because sometimes, what feels like a setback is just the beginning of an even better adventure. Takeaways from this episode: Disappointment is inevitable, but how we respond to it matters. Mindset shifts help—reframing setbacks as potential great stories makes them easier to navigate. Personal struggles are universal—whether it's weight loss, business hurdles, or losing a favorite hat, we all face challenges. Self-acceptance is key—especially when it comes to body image and personal growth. Stay open to unexpected wins—what seems like a loss today might lead to something even better. Humor helps! Laughing at life's twists and turns makes them more manageable. The proverb shared in this minisode is: “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”  Support the showConnect with me in the following ways:www.theadventureparadox.com FacebookInstagramcatcaldwellmyers@gmail.com

I explore how paradoxes show up in life, using my own experiences with skiing injuries, motherhood, and fitness to illustrate their unexpected twists. One powerful example is the idea that youth is wasted on the young. I moved to Jackson Hole in my 20s to ski before my knees aged—only to suffer injuries that completely changed my journey. Reflecting on a recent birthday trip to Big Sky, Montana, Cat discusses how skiing ties into the paradoxes we face as mothers, particularly around gear, age, and shifting perspectives. The core theme is that perspective is key when navigating challenges, whether on the slopes or in everyday life.      In the first live stream of 2025, we kick off the rebranding of Adventure Paradox into Mom's Adventure Paradox, a space dedicated to exploring the complexities of motherhood and caregiving. Today's episode dives into one of the most essential—and paradoxical—principles of motherhood: rest. Rest is often seen as a four-letter word in the world of caregiving, a concept that feels almost impossible to prioritize amid endless responsibilities. Yet, the need for stillness is critical, especially when we consider how both the body and mind require recovery to rise up and meet the challenges ahead. We draw inspiration from visionaries like Martin Luther King Jr. and Maya Angelou. We are encouraged to rise toward our goals and the power of our inner strength to rise above adversity. We explore the balance between rest and action in our journey. Sometimes we need to pause, but like these great leaders, we also have the power to rise, keep moving forward, and chase our dreams, no matter the challenges.Support the showConnect with me in the following ways:www.theadventureparadox.com FacebookInstagramcatcaldwellmyers@gmail.com

I am so excited to bring you this incredible conversation with Robyn Youkilis. If you've been following along, you know we're diving into a series I've lovingly dubbed the "Mommy Olympics"—a reflection on the pressures of modern motherhood. Is it a race to win gold, or is it more of a team sport where we all win by showing up authentically? In this episode, I sit down with Robyn, a wellness entrepreneur, bestselling author, and intuitive guide who has been transforming lives for over 15 years. Robyn's approach to health, parenting, and self-love is a breath of fresh air in a world that often glorifies overextension and martyrdom. We dig deep into her journey from maiden to motherhood, her philosophy on “mothering without martyring,” and how she's rewritten the rules for herself, her kids, and her thriving business. Robyn's wisdom about embracing the seasons of life, setting boundaries, and staying true to yourself left me inspired and, frankly, ready to let go of some things I've been holding onto. This conversation is packed with relatable moments, actionable tips, and so much heart. Whether you're navigating the chaos of motherhood, building a business, or just trying to stay grounded, this episode will leave you feeling seen, supported, and maybe even a little lighter. Key TakeawaysHonor Life's Seasons: Motherhood, work, and life all have cycles. Start with small, intentional “me time.”Simplify Meal Prep: Use pockets of time to prep basics like grains or veggies and focus on “good enough” meals rather than perfection.Let Things Go: If you haven't tackled a task in two weeks, delegate it or let it go—it's not worth the stress.Be Present: Even 20 minutes of undivided attention with your kids can create deep connection and joy.Use code MOMMYOLYMPICS to receive Robyn's Guided Grounding Meditation bundle for free!Connect with Robyn YoukilisWebsite: Yourhealthiestyou.com - Learn more about Robyn's programs and read her blogsRobynYoukilis.com – Explore her speaking events, and guided meditations.Social Media: Follow Robyn on Instagram @robynyoukilis for daily inspiration, recipes, and wellness tips.Books: Check out her bestsellers Go With Your Gut and Thin From Within.Mentioned in This EpisodePrograms: Hot Mama, Your Healthiest YouWellness Insights: The RIE Method, Ayurvedic approaches to seasonal eatingUpcoming Events: Robyn's speaking engagements and retreats—stay tuned on her website! And here's the kicker: you probably don't even realize they're there.I see it all the time—clients, fellow podcasters, even myself—we all hit walls, but it's not what you think. But don't worry, I'm not just spilling the secrets; I'm here to show you how to smash through those obstacles and finally step into the life you've been dreaming about!Sounds impossible? Maybe. But that's the thing about the impossible—it's only impossible until someone shows you how it's done.So what are these 3 blocks? Here's a taste:You Have Something to SayEver feel like you're out of words? Trust me, you have something important to share; it's all about discovering it!Fear of Being SeenThink you're scared of failing? Nope! It's really about showing your true self. Embrace that visibility, and watch everything shift!Fear of JudgmentBelieve it's others holding you back? Not quite—the toughest critic is usually you. Good news: I'll show you how to turn that around! That's all I'm going to give away for now. If you want the full breakdown, you need to listen to this episode. Trust me, these three things are sabotaging you more than you know—and once you uncover them, your life will never be the same. Here's the deal: I believe in you, even if you don't right now. These blocks are holding you down, but guess what? You can break them. Yes, YOU. But only if you're ready to step up and claim what's yours. So, what's your next move? Are you ready to stop playing small? No more excuses. No more playing small.
