Puntata a cura di Untimoteo. Ispirata all'omonimo fumetto di Garth Ennis (The Boys), Preacher la serie parla di un anomalo predicatore texano in lotta con i propri demoni interiori. Letteralmente. On this episode of Indie Comics Spotlight, Tony welcomes Brad Filicky of DC Comics News and the DC comics news podcast network. Tony and Brad spend time in Texas and New York as they break down the unholy trinity of Vertigo Comics' classic Preacher. Creator-owned series from writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon (with all covers provided by Glenn Fabry). The series, based off an idea Ennis had while working on Hellblazer, tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down and out cursed/blessed southern boy preacher, a hard livin' Irish vampire (Cassidy) and the preacher's gun slinging ex-girlfriend (Tulip O'Hare) travel and fight the world to question The All Mighty Himself, as to why he quit his sacred task of caring for the world? Along the way a colorful cast of supporting characters walk into the story including a Cowboy who can kill anything (Saint of Killers), a once suicidal depressed teen who just happens to have a face like an arse (Arseface), and a zealot assassin by the name of Herr Starr. This week, Comics in motion has an excellent offer exclusively for our listeners. TKO Comics is revolutionizing the comics industry. Today, we’re talking the Judas Priest subliminal message controversy. In 1990, while on a US tour, the heavy metal band Judas Priest played a show in Reno, NV, where they were served a subpoena, seconds before going on-stage. The allegations purported that there were subliminal messages in their song “Better by you, better than me”, messages that forced 2 young men to attempt suicide in 1985. Our primary resource is the David Van Taylor's Dream Deceivers: The Story Behind James Vance vs. Judas Priest. This is a must watch documentary. The real life story would eventually inspire Garth Ennis to create the character Arseface in the Preacher comic book series. This episode contains stories of suicide and other dark material. This week on the show, we were teased on the Hitler or "Hilter" and Arseface portion of the Preacher storyline again, but at least we expected it this time! This week's Preacher wasn't quite the thrill ride that the last few episodes were for us, but then again it can hardly be 100 miles an hour all the time, and the season has been hugely satisfying so far for the Preachers on this podcast regardless. Here's hoping for a glorious crescendo in the final 3 episodes of the season! For part 2, our question of the week was best and worst vampires in T.V. and film. It was an eclectic discussion, from the infamous like Dracula to the obscure and quite frankly dumb, like 1979's Scooby Doo villain "The Lady Vampire of the Bay." This week on the show, we had an all-too-brief return of Arseface, further development of the Tulip and Jesse Vs. Jodie, T.C. and Grandma battle as well as the introduction of the pretentious yet hilarious Les Enfants Du Sang (Children of the Blood). Between all of this as well as Herr Starr's exceedingly awkward meeting with the Allfather, it was another absolutely stacked episode. Some of us were more entertained than others on the pod, but the show remains of a high standard overall, so here's hoping that standard continues for the remainder of the season. In part two, in a bid to link into the show in some manner of speaking, our question of the week was Best & Worst Depictions of God & Satan in Film and T.V. After some distracting tongue in cheek suggestions on Facebook live, this then divulged into a sidetracked discussion that veered far, far away from the topic at hand. Still, we had our fun and that's all that matters. Join us on the next podcast, for discussion on a new episode of Preacher, as well as a new question of the week! See you next time. In the newest episode titled Les Enfants du Sang (The Children of Blood) Tulip and Jesse have to find a way to save grandma or risk Tulips soul getting sucked out. Cassidy finds himself among a group of people who follow a vampire named Eccarius, and Starr and All Father sit down for a...meal. This week found a lot of room for some great comedy and we see the return of Eugene aka Arseface as he comes to terms with the events that happened while he was in hell. This gave us a perfect blend of awesome stuff to talk all about, so if you're still reading this then you should go ahead and have a listen and let us know what you think, what questions you have, and where you think we go from here. Only 4 episodes left in the season and I'm sure it's about to get crazy.
This week Bill and Dom recap and compare episode 6 of Preacher season 3 to the comics! This one's got a lot of Cassidy stuff that in the books was flashback, but here it's present day! This week on the show, we did a shorter than usual episode, mostly because we couldn't settle on a question of the week! In part 1, it's fair to say we were bowled over by the excellent opening scene with a teenage Jesse - surely a sign of just how fucked up this season could end up getting. We still have no sign of Arseface or Hitler, but with Herr Starr's return, there was still plenty to keep us interested. In part 2, we discussed a pair of promotional photos on Preacher from AMC, speculating who's who in terms of as yet unseen new characters, as well as when to expect their entry into the show. This week on The Heroes, Villains and Sidekicks show I'll be continuing my Preacher series with a character with one of the most unique looks and names in the entire series. Now there are some pretty far out characters in Preacher, but Eugene Root, or better known by Arseface definitely has one of the most interesting looks and backstories in the comic. So who is Eugene Root and how did he go from a handsome young stoner to Arseface, let's get into it.
Welcome to the DC TV Report for the week ending Saturday July 8th, 2017. As submitted by Edward O'Hare, nickname To Be Determined. There was 1 new episode this week and 1 animated Retro pick for you. Here goes: Preacher - Flashback – Eugene tried convincing Tracey Loach not to blow her face off with a shotgun, failed miserably after burning her suicide note, and then became the Arseface we know and love. Flash forward to Arseface trapped in a dark and dusty hell with no one to talk to but Hitler. Back on Earth Jesse scoured New Orleans looking for God. After being misdirected to a gimp dog, Jesse saved a nightclub singer named Laura from a bunch of crypto-fascists in white masks. Later on we learned Laura was in league with the crypto-fascists and delivered her report on Jesse to Herr K. Starr. Cassidy and Tulip checked in with Cassidy's grumpy “friend” Dennis. Tulip was trying to hide from her ex, Victor. Last Minute Reveal: Tulip was cornered at a laundromat by a bunch of goons working for Victor! Retro Pick Batman Unlimited S01E05 "Batman and Nightwing Gadget-Up To Go Against Silverback" 6/19/2015 Here is the link to the full episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrfZdAchfRw&t=134s
