Jason Cercone is the Founder of Cercone Consulting, a consulting group that helps others realize the value of podcasting as a tool for growing their business. According to Jason, podcasts are the best way to establish authority in your field and build relationships. Considered the best lead generation tool today, podcasts create the opportunity to build relationships with people you would otherwise never have the opportunity to speak with. Jason's One Big Tip is that podcast hosts and guests should look at podcasts as a means to grow their business by rooting it in value for their listeners. This allows you to establish yourself or your brand as an authority in your niche. Jason's podcasting journey began in his college days when he hosted a college radio show and fell in love with the audio medium. After a short-lived podcast that focused on beer, Jason realized that this was where his passion lay. One and a half years later, Jason launched a new podcast. This time, he was armed with a strategy and techniques he gained during his hiatus. Jason learned the nuances of creating a podcast that would captivate an audience. Today Jason helps others create podcasts that flourish, sharing tactics and strategies that allow them to connect with their audience and elevate their brand. The first step in creating a successful podcast is understanding that the purpose of your podcast is to serve your brand, elevate your message and establish yourself as an authority in your niche. The more people hear your voice as either a host or a guest, and the more you align your mission with your message, the higher the probability of gaining a following. When your message resonates with others, that triggers them to follow you into the world. The potential to use a podcast to bring others into your world is vast. You want to nurture those relationships as much as possible so they become customers and advocates. All this is possible through podcasting. Most people begin podcasts because they have something they want to share, but to make your podcast lucrative, you need to know what purpose your podcast will serve for your brand. That's how you create lasting results. As a guest, you want to ensure the podcasts you appear on align with your mission. They should be helping you create content for your brand that your audience is eager to listen to. If you are a financial expert, it's not the best fit to appear as a guest on a fantasy football podcast. Because, even though you may have some valuable knowledge to share, that audience will not understand your message. To leverage podcasts for lead generation, you need to find tightly defined podcasts where the audience is there for one purpose only. This is where many people get hung up. It's not about the number of downloads a podcast has. It matters more than the audience is interested in your message. The goal is to build relationships with the people you can collaborate with. That's the way to create networking and monetization opportunities. Being an asset to an audience and positioning yourself as a resource before, during, and after the podcast should be your end goal. As a podcaster, Jason is not interested in his download statistics. Why? Because they don't serve his purpose. Instead, his focus is on finding networking opportunities. Jason advocates for all his clients to focus on their guests and build relationships with them rather than on an arbitrary download number. When you're a guest on a podcast, it's so important to ensure that the podcast message aligns with your values and content. That way, you gain a new audience.Another critical thing to mention is establishing chemistry between the host and the guest. Chemistry is something that audiences pay attention to. If the conversation isn't authentic and falls flat, neither side gains anything from the show.To build a successful podcast platform, the people you...

Hello, Pittsburgh. I'm excited to introduce a brand-new season for you – and it's jam-packed with unique episodes and bonus content. Season 8 has been an incredible one for me to record and produce, and I can't wait to share the full episodes with you.I had the great honor and privilege of interviewing attorney, Edgar Snyder - a person that I admire for the firm he has built, the trail he has blazed, and the philanthropic work he has done in Pittsburgh. I've been watching Edgar Snyder on TV since I was a kid, and I'm sure many of you have as well. I know everyone in Pittsburgh knows who Edgar is, but you may not know his personal journey and what he had to go through in order to build his firm. He shares that story plus a whole lot more in his candid interview with me for the podcast.Just before the holidays, I recorded my first “live audience” podcast with Corry Smith, owner of CorEats. We held the event at Café Conmigo in Wexford. Corry is a thoughtful and energetic business owner with a tremendous origin story, and I had a wonderful time interviewing her for the show. You'll definitely want to make sure that you catch this debut “live” episode. It was a real pleasure to have some prior guests come back onto the program for a group discussion, which is a new format that I decided to try for this season. The first group includes Matt Marietti, owner of de Fer Coffee & Tea, Fiore Moletz, co-owner of Burgh'ers Brewing, and John Vella, owner of The John Vella Salon. And the second session features Kristen Ricupero, owner of Financial Fitness Coaching, Wendy Gilch, owner of SellingLater.com, and Jessie Tait, owner of Enspra. In these small business roundtable discussions, we cover the latest developments in their businesses, what's happened since they were last on the show, dealing with the constantly evolving covid situation, and a variety of other business topics and ideas. In addition to all of this, I was recently a guest on the “Evolution of Brand” podcast, which is a new show created, produced, and hosted by Jason Cercone. In our conversation, we talked a lot about podcasting, marketing, and creating a niche for your content and business. I plan to drop this interview as a bonus in the feed. So, if you've been curious to know more about my reasons for creating the Proprietors of Pittsburgh Podcast and some of the strategy behind it, then you'll want to check this one out.I'd like to thank all of you for helping this podcast experience incredible growth in 2021, and I can't wait to see where things go in 2022. I know we're starting off right with this blockbuster season. If you have ideas for the podcast, know someone that would be an excellent guest, or if you just want to share some feedback, please reach out to me at my contact info below. The universe has a sly way of throwing curveballs at us and just when we think we've got it figured out, they throw in a slider and a sinking fastball. And when this happens, we're left with a critical decision: adapt...or fade away. While we may seek the best outcome, it's the bitter defeats that help us savor the sweet taste of victory just a little bit more. It's the failures that give us the roadmap to success. It's the downfalls and the kicks to the teeth that make us resilient and give us the confidence to get off the mat and get back in the battle! On today's episode of Be Real, I welcome Jason Cercone for a candid conversation about perseverance, overcoming adversity, and navigating through life with a positive mindset. Jason is a podcaster and, through his company, Cercone Consulting, he works with brands and professionals on all things podcast communications and production.Years ago, Jason was working a job he enjoyed and making good money while, at the same time, building a business of his own on the side that he hoped would one day sustain him. As you'll learn, Jason had designed his exit from his company and had all intentions to do things the right way. Until, one morning, his company revealed they had other plans.Throughout this episode, you'll discover the power of thinking positively even when life deals you a bad hand, why it's important to deal with losses so you can appreciate gains, what happens when grit and work ethic are instilled at a young age, how small actions done consistently every day lead to big results (for better or for worse), why sports not keeping score are setting kids up for disaster, and a pivotal moment in Jason's life where everything about work ethic snapped into focus. You can connect with Jason, listen to his podcasts, and discover more about how he helps professionals by visiting jasoncercone.com today

Jason Cercone's experience with podcasting expanded in 2019 when he launched the Breaking Brews Podcast. He transitioned his existing blog, which he started in 2014 to highlight the business side of the craft beer industry, into a podcast format in order to take advantage of the rapid growth happening in audio. With the arrival of the pandemic in 2020 and its subsequent slowdown of the food and beverage industry, Jason had the opportunity to reevaluate his career choices. Although he remained intrigued with the beer business, his work as a podcaster allowed him to develop an even greater passion. He began to consider how he could pivot his company in a way that would allow him to work solely on podcasts. In 2020, armed with one full-time podcast client, Jason rebranded his business as Cercone Consulting. His firm specializes in helping companies and personalities to create, produce, market, and grow podcasts in order to develop audiences and enhance brands. Today, he offers a complete suite of services for podcasters, which includes editing, booking guests, theme development, and strategy. Whether you're just getting your company started or have been operating for a long period of time, you know that communication throughout your organization is critical. We've seen what happens to companies that don't communicate well. Complete and utter chaos. One department doesn't know what its counterpart is doing, team members start blaming others for items that fall through the cracks, morale dips to record lows, and no one know what needs to get done...so nothing gets done. This typically leads to increased turnover or, worse...complete shutdown. On the flip side, companies that do communicate well discover innovative ways to serve their clientele and grow their operations. Keeping everyone on the same page leads to better attitudes. And better attitudes fuel better results. In Episode 122 of Pod Theory, I'm going to tackle the question of whether a brand podcast can help improve internal communications and serve as a catalyst to bring more cohesiveness to your team. Overediting may be one of the most polarizing subjects in the podcasting space. There are many that firmly believe that removing um, uh, like, y'know, lip smacks, and other inaudibles makes the conversation sound less natural, while others believe it's the job of a good podcast editor to remove fillers that waste the listener's time whenever necessary. In Episode 120 of Pod Theory, the goal is to bring you the truth about overediting and provide some clarity on what should be removed during editing...and what should be left as is because it contributes to the conversation. To do this, I invited podcasting expert and editing extraordinaire Britany Felix to the show. Britany is the Founder of Podcasting For Coaches and, in addition to helping people produce a polished, well-edited final podcast, she also hosts her own podcast (also called Podcasting For Coaches) where she brings her years of knowledge to the mic alongside other podcasting professionals who do the same. This was a great conversation that covered a metric ton of good ground about the editing process. We also took a hard look at podcasting as a whole and where things are headed for the medium and those leveraging it for their brands. And, for some added fun, a spirited bout of Poddeck Pandemonium broke out, too.You can connect with Britany at podcastingforcoaches.com and follow Podcasting For Coaches wherever you download your favorite shows!Buzzsprout: Podcasting's #1 Hosting SiteClick Here to Sign Up For Buzzsprout and Receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card! What's the most powerful way to leverage podcasting today?Click Here to Learn About My Comprehensive Podcast Communications ServiceConnect with The Host - Jason CerconeWebsite  |  Facebook  |  Twitter  |  Instagram  |  YouTube  |  PinterestIn need of deeper podcast counsel?
