On Episode 334, Filly and Scarf recap an absolutely unbelievable Decision Day, both at BMO and in Houston! The subs save the day in LA while a former Carsonite sinks their ship at the death! It was a roller coaster of emotions for about 15 minutes, but LAFC comes out on top in the West as we get set to kick off the Western Conference Playoffs!Things looked bleak for the first 45' for LAFC, as an early goal by Jackson Yueill, off an ill-advised pass from Eddie Segura, gave the road side a lead and meant that LAFC would need at least three on the day. Another offside goal from Giroud and an anemic first half attack (0 shots on target) sent the club into the halftime break down a goal. But in Houston, an Ezequiel Ponce goal just before the halftime whistle saw the home side take the lead, and left everything to play for at BMO!LAFC opened the second half a little better, but it was just after the hour mark that LAFC truly woke up. A Denis Bouanga banger off a great Tillman cross leveled things at home, and the reinforcements came on soon after. Kei Kamara, Eduard Atuesta, and, later, Marlon, would all factor in the win. Atuesta's first few touches were magic, as he took a great 1-2 ball from Kei and rocketed it home past Daniel to give LAFC the 2-1 lead! With Aaron Long cramping in the 80', the Carlos Vela homecoming was put on hold, as LAFC used their 5th sub to bring on Marlon for Long. Serendipity doesn't always announce itself right away, but it would take Marlon just 10 minutes to become an LAFC hero! Off a great Atuesta free kick, Marlon, running in the same channel as Chanot, got his head to the cross and flicked it past Daniel and into the back of the net to give LAFC the 2-goal advantage it needed to move into 1st in the West! With our result secure, everyone turned to their phones, and turned into Dynamo fans! Alas, hopes were dashed in the 6th minute of stoppage time, as a Puig penalty call turned into a Pec rocket, and the score was leveled at 1. With the top spot seemingly gone, LAFC had to hope for a miracle, and we got one in the form of Burbank's own Daniel Steres! An 11th-minute stoppage-time header gave Houston an improbable 2-1 win, and handed LAFC the top spot in the West. It was an unreal scene at BMO!Also on this episode, we remember jewelry made from a plane and wish our LAFC2 boys well in their first playoff match. What a night at BMO! Now, as Ilie said, "the best is yet to come!"

And we're back! LAFC sits just 3 points out of the lead in the West and only 96% humidity stands in their way! Vince, Darren, and Travis break down everything you need to know about this Saturday's match including Hugo's streak, Tillman's absence, and whether or not we knew Chanot was from Luxembourg. Plus, we play a game comparing Disneyland to Disneyworld and discuss what the new goalkeeper signing means for LAFC. Then, unfortunately, Travis gets VERY detailed about what he thinks goes on at funeral home. Orlando? More like OrlanDON'T, am I right? I'll come up with something better for the title, I promise. Black and Gold Rewind goes back to playing during Covid. New LAFC Defender Maxime Chanot joins show, why coming back to the U.S. and joining LAFC was a no-brainer. How playing in MLS more than anything prepares you for playing in MLS!
Despite LAFC's less than stellar performance throughout most of the game, they manage to steal a point from the team at the top of the table. We asked for lineup changes! We fucked around and found out, and in some cases what we found out was pretty good (Chanot), in some cases it didn't go so well (Bogusz, Segura), and in some cases, Aaron long slid his leg right into a goal post to save a goal and ruin his season only to have his replacement score an own goal before Long is even able to leave the pitch. Meanwhile, is Bouanga.... BACK!??? It's possible Bouanga is back. Bouanga might be back. But in the end, maybe all that really matters is that we tread water long enough to make it to the summer transfer window. As boring as that is. YEEERRRRRR!!! On this hilarious episode of the pod the boys discuss the matches against Canada, Chanot beefing with Cushing, and preview the upcoming match against New jersey... YKTFV!! There are a lot of questions and speculation in the NYCFC community about the club and Cushing. Is his job safe? Is the club punting away 2023? Did Cushing have any involvement with Chanot leaving? & much more. But, there's nothing like a win to monetarily quiet everything. Making the playoffs seems like an impossible task, but with a win at home, and 4 home games upcoming, we basically need to win out. Luckily, it's another Canadian team on the weekend. We discuss the Cincinnati game, the Montréal game, Chanot's departure, and what we think a 2024 roster might look like, coaching and player-wise.
YEEERRRRRR!!! The fans are fed up and the banners are coming. Supporters have had enough of Cushing and want him out. The boys talk about this, Chanot leaving, and the future of this club... YKTFV!! Right after the Chanot rumors started having traction we went live to record our frustrations and speculations. This is the pod. We miss you already Chanot!
NYCFC went down to Philly and left with nothing to show for it. Jasson was MOTM, Gabi was just as good, and Chanot was an ironman. But aside from that there weren't many bright spots. We recap the game, talk new signings, discuss what the MLS can do to increase popularity in the the USA, and more!

After a manic 4-4 draw followed by a tight-wound 2-2, your boys in blue have had an emotionally draining week! Jake & Trey take the mic to review the blow-by-blow on the field for NYCFC's challenging matches against Cincinnati and Atlanta, in which we saw: the return of Heber as a point-forward, Maxi at his natural best and his natural worst, Johnson looking both flaccid and erect, a goal-hungry Taty, a hot-to-trot Chanot, and so much more; in other words, everything you could want from two NYCFC matches except six points. We've got it all here for you. THEN: are we going to get DP'd by our DP situation? Is Mitrita coming back, and why is he telling the press he wants to? And what does the Keaton Katastrophe mean for NYCFC, and for the man himself? And of course, a lightning-fast precap of New England action at Yankee Stadium this Saturday. Restock on Gold Bond and use that MeUndies code - you've got Blue Balls.
Ya boys are at it again with another double recap -- the pace of play proves simply too much for our hardy little Blue Balls podcast but NOT for the Boys in Blue who bring back six points and +4 GD against Columbus and DC -- and Jake and Trey have the blow-by-blow. We get into the banter -- 195 minutes without a shot on goal, Gloster's latest round of pastries passes and pies, our superstar forwards, our superstar midfielders, our superstar defenders, our superstar GK, and start the whisper campaign nobody in the league is ready to hear: NYCFC's still the best there is. THEN: Chanot's contracts & corneas, Tinnerholm on the ones and twos, and some mostly-respectful Locker Room Talk. And we can't leave you without talking about upcoming Chicago and looming New England. Is 2022's NYCFC a treble level club? Or are we just taking it one week at a time? Don't strain too hard making up your mind - you've got Blue Balls.

Maxime Chanot is the longest serving member of defending MLS Cup Champions, New York City FC. He suffered a potential career ending injury less than two months ago that could have changed his life forever – the initial report from a doctor was – 50/50 who would permanently lose sight in his left eye. Maxime speaks in detail about his emotions during the recovery. Maxime also talks about winning the MLS Cup and how as a younger player he probably would have been ejected in those waning moments at Portland. And his partnership at the back with Alexander Callens – despite speaking very much to him on or off the field.

Des débats pour ouvrir la réflexion sur le sujet et pourquoi pas le test grandeur nature dans une ville comme Marseille.

PART TWO of our Month-Long Recap starts right here -- and if you haven't hit Part One yet, scroll back in your podcast player and check that one out. Feel free to skip over the Dallas stuff though. Not important why. Jake & Trey break down that frustrating Dallas game in the long shadow of some similarly disappointing play by a team that everyone agrees should be putting up better numbers. The questions, once again: what's going wrong in the defense (a bunch of things), can it be fixed (not by anything except shutting the f*ck up), and should it have been fixed earlier (yes but no)? Also, TALLES MAGNO has his day in the sun, notching a goal and ensuring his name is sealed in the NYCFC Book Of Life -- and HEBER IS BACK, baby! What does it mean? Less than you think. THEN: Man of the Month Taty Castellanos, Chanot's coaching side hustle, and a quick and dirty FC Cincy precap where you can literally hear us googling. Stay out of Trinidad -- you've got Blue Balls.

Post Game Player Reactions & Quotes – New York City FC vs Atlanta United FC – 2018 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinal Audio clips from Jo Inge Berget, Sean Johnson, Jesus Medina (Spanish) and Yangel Herrera (Spanish). Quotes from Domènec Torrent, Alexander Ring, Sean Johnson provided by NYCFC.com NYCFC HEAD COACH DOMÈNEC TORRENT On tonight’s match & looking ahead to the second leg in Atlanta… “Today, it’s a bad result for us but I reminded my players, we need to imagine it’s a final. We need to win the next game. If you’re able to win the next game, you need to score at least one goal. 1-0? Extra time. If you’re able to win the game and score two goals, you are in the [Eastern Conference] final.” On what needs to be adjusted heading to Atlanta… “We need to win the game. I have to find the best solution and the best team to play better. I agree with who played the game in the second half. The second half we played much better, we can play side-to-side, we can play two against one. We played well the second half, they defend very well but we just need to win the game. We don’t need to win 2-0, 3-0, 4-1 - no, no - we need to win. If we win at least 1-0, it’s extra time, if you score 2, you are in the [Eastern Conference final], it’s as simple as that. We need to improve, absolutely. We need to improve for the next game because they have quality and the first half, we didn’t play well because we didn’t have the connection between the central midfielders and the strikers. We didn’t defend well, the set pieces especially. Every single corner, every single free kick, they could finish. We have to improve because in a semifinal or a final, you have to be focused on that, in every single action. But I am happy at the second half because I think we played much better - not in the first half and we have chances to win in Atlanta, why not? They have a good team but New York City as well. Our intention is to go to Atlanta to win the game because we need to win.” On Maxime Chanot… “Maxime, the last month, has played amazing, incredible. He has a special quality, he has a desire to win. It’s about the mentality. The mentality Chanot has shown in the last month is incredible. He was a leader for the defenders, the same with [Alex] Ring and Yangel [Herrera]” NYCFC MIDFIELDER ALEXANDER RING How Atlanta’s physical game effected NYCFC attacking game… “No, I think the first half we didn't play that well from the back, I think the second half we played much better. Their corners and set pieces were dangerous, it's the payoffs and they did a good job but nevertheless we shouldn’t have conceded a set piece.” On what they will like to continue next week… “I think we changed the way we were playing a little bit, pushed a bit higher on the sides. I played alone in the midfield, I think that gave us a better rhythm maybe, where we were better spread out in the pitch than in the first half. You have to give them credit, they did well the first half and they know we like to play from the back, but I think we showed in the second half that if we play like that we’ll have a really good chance in Atlanta.” On having to win the match in Atlanta to advance… “Exactly, it’s one game and we have played there before, we know we can score goals there so yeah, I’m not worried. I’m looking forward to it, like I said, [the] playoffs are what we’ve been working for all year and I’m sure we are going to bring our “A” game when we show up there.” NYCFC GOALKEEPER SEAN JOHNSON Thoughts on today’s game… “I think given our position now, Atlanta is going to be a final. We win and we give ourselves a chance. It’s one goal. If we score two, it’s gonna be a fight. So we just have to treat it like that and It’s gonna be an exciting game. I think we’ll just have to come prepared again. You know, we’d love a goal [today] but not conceding the second goal after conceding one of the set piece is important.” Confidence level on the road for this team right now... “Obviously we know what we have to do. Nothing really matters in the past going forward now. I think it’s really down to a belief in the group and I think we’ve had a little more belief in us the past couple of games and even tonight in the second half. I mean, we came out and tried to take it to them. So, we’re not really looking into our struggles in the past leading up to this next game in Atlanta, so we’re just going to treat it like a final.” How did Atlanta prevent NYCFC from attacking... “I think they did a good job at pressing. I mean, the way they set up, they knew how we wanted to play. I think it was just gonna be a battle to see if we could win a second ball. And I think they won a few more second balls in the first half. But when we did play a little more direct and win a second ball, we were able to advance the ball up the field quite rapidly. So that’s kinda how the game was at home earlier this year for large stretches and away as well…[it] didn’t catch us by surprise if you will. But I think obviously we can improve and figure out a better way to advance the ball and gain more control of the game, cause when we do that, we score.” NYCFC Nation Podcast Show Link & Info Purchase our NYCFC Nation scarf 100% of proceeds go towards City in the Community!! http://thenycfcnation.com/2018/04/nycfc-nation-scarf/ Episode Link: http://thenycfcnation.com/2018/11/nycfc-vs-philadelphia-union-post-game-audio-clips-quotes-10-31-2018 Episode Sponsored by - SportsHosts Andres Emilio Soto @TheAndresSoto - https://twitter.com/TheAndresSoto OhCitySaidI IG @CitySaidI - https://www.instagram.com/ohcitysaidi/ Podcast Outro Song - N/A Leave Us A Rating And Review Like listening to the NYCFC Nation Podcast? Time to talk about the roller coaster ride of a match we witnessed on Saturday night! First off, we touch on the lineup that PV surprised us all with. Especially the sitting of Andrea Pirlo and the mysterious “Illness” of David Villa (I really hope he’s better soon). Then we breakdown our thoughts on the play itself along with the goals, from both sides. Especially the Jack Harrison brace, the game opener and the game winner. Finally, we hit on some interesting questions regarding Chanot and Prilo before we sign off for the week. The post Episode 55 – Jack in the Box appeared first on Dudes In Blue.

After the game reporters have a few private minutes with New York City FC Defender Maxime Chanot. Hear what Chanot has to say after a tough first playoff match loss to Toronto FC. Not the results you wanted tonight but how did you find it out there? Maxime Chanot: Obviously we are disappointed. We came here to win the game and that’s what we wanted and tonight we left down 2-0. We are disappointed. I’m not saying we deserved it [the loss] but 0-0 or 1-0 would have been a better result. But this is football and we are looking forward and see what’s going to happen next Sunday. It’s an uphill battle but crazy things happen in football is that the mentality and confidence going into the second match? Maxime Chanot: Yes, for sure, otherwise there is no point to play the game. We are still looking forward to playing this game and we believe in ourselves, we believe in this team, we have to move forward with a positive spirit and you never know what’s going to happen in football, believe me. How difficult was the Altidore/ Giovinco match up? Maxime Chanot: They are both good players and we’ve known them for a while now but I don’t want disrespect them, they played a good game, they [Toronto] scored two goals but it could have been 0-0. Giovinco is probably one of the best players in the league, we knew that and today he had a good game. I don’t think we deserved this 2-0 [loss]. However they were scored, it's probably the same but that they were scrappy goals around the net is that frustrating? Maxime Chanot: That’s what I am talking about, they were not really beautiful goals but this is football. Congratulations to Toronto they did their job tonight and now we are looking forward to do our job next weekend.
