If you don't know already, our holistic healing practice, Chris & Filly Functional Medicine are partnered with Free To Shine - a truly amazing child protection organisation in Cambodia that helps keep children in schools, and out of sex brothels. In today's episode, we share a live FaceBook interview we did with Nicky Mih, Founder of Free To Shine, back when we originally partnered with this organisation. And we're excited to share it on the podcast today, where Nicky tells us more about her mission to stop sex-trafficking. Nicky says: "I can't live in a world where girls are being tortured with acid, electrocuted and raped and do nothing about it." And we absolutely agree! Which is why we give a day's worth of safety & education to girls in Cambodia for every client that books in for a Connect The Dots Initial Consult & our Ending Body Burnout Method program. About Nicky Mih As an educator, coach, and adventurer, Nicky Mih is passionate about inspiring people to learn, achieve, and make a difference in the world. In 2009 Nicky spent a month volunteering with more than 200 girls rescued from sex slavery in Cambodia, an experience which profoundly challenged her and led to the creation of Free To Shine. Nicky leads a team of social workers and education officers who work with community leaders, police, schools and families to secure the safety of girls across rural Cambodia, and help them achieve their rights to access education, safe drinking water, enough food and adequate shelter. Send us a textIn this episode of Midlife Sparkle, I sit down with Dr Filipa Bellette, or “Philly” as she prefers to be known. She's the co-founder of the multi-award-winning health practice Chris & Filly Functional Medicine, an author, accredited clinical nutritionist, functional medicine practitioner, coach and trauma therapist. Alongside her husband, Chris, she has helped more than two and a half thousand clients overcome chronic burnout, fatigue and overwhelm through a deep root-cause approach.Filly's passion for this work stems from her own experience with severe burnout. From fainting and fitting as a teenager to complete body shutdown after having children, her story is both relatable and eye-opening. She talks candidly about what it felt like to juggle motherhood, business and study while her body was breaking down - how she tried everything from nutrition and supplements to lab testing - and how none of it truly worked until she addressed the deep-seated belief that she was weak and incapable. Our conversation goes far beyond the usual wellness chat. Filly explains what body burnout actually is, how it differs from workplace burnout, and how chronic stress literally rewires our nervous system and physiology. She shares how stress hormones such as cortisol keep us stuck in fight-or-flight mode, and how that affects our mood, energy, hormones and gut health. We also unpack the root-cause approach she uses in her clinic - combining functional medicine with trauma-informed therapy. She outlines how every habit and coping mechanism (from overworking and perfectionism to alcohol or sugar) is linked to a deep-rooted belief about ourselves. Healing happens, she says, when we finally listen to what the body is trying to tell us.One of my favourite parts of our chat is when Filly describes how true recovery often comes from the simplest things - rest, grounding, sunlight and reconnecting with nature. She shares a beautiful practice: taking off your shoes, sitting on the grass, placing your hand on your heart and asking your body what it needs.Filly's story is a powerful reminder that burnout isn't a badge of honour - it's a message. A message to slow down, listen, and rebuild from the inside out.Key takeaways and actions: If you're feeling tired, irritable or unmotivated, don't dismiss it as “just midlife” or “too many responsibilities”. It might be your body's way of asking for help. Start by slowing down, even for five minutes a day. Step outside, breathe fresh air and tune into what your body is saying. Look beyond surface fixes - better sleep, nutrition and supplements are important, but the deeper work lies in changing the beliefs that drive your busyness and stress. Healing begins when you decide you are worthy of rest, health and ease.

Aidan O'Brien joins Emmet Kennedy on The Final Furlong Podcast for an exclusive deep dive into his powerful team for the 2025 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Del Mar — where he bids to extend his record-breaking season of 23 Group 1 victories. The legendary trainer — already joint second-winningmost in Breeders' Cup history — talks through his squad with trademark insight, from precocious two-year-olds to battle-hardened stars: • Juvenile Turf Sprint: True Love and Mission Central — can O'Brien strike again with two No Nay Nevers?• Juvenile Fillies Turf: Precise chases a fifth straight win after Group 1 domination — could she be another Minding?• Juvenile Turf: Gstaad aims to give Ballydoyle their fourth consecutive win in this race.• Breeders' Cup Turf: Minnie Hauk, the four-time Oaks heroine, seeks glory at Del Mar after her Arc near-miss.• Breeders' Cup Mile: The Lion in Winter looks to break through at the top level.• Filly & Mare Turf: Bedtime Story looks to crown a remarkable season for her sire Frankel. O'Brien reflects on maintaining Group 1 excellence across generations, the art of keeping elite older horses like Kyprios thriving, and why Christophe Soumillon could be key to another Breeders' Cup masterclass. With 23 Group 1 wins already, and with strong chances in six Grade 1 races at Del Mar and Hong Kong still to come, could 2025 be Aidan O'Brien's greatest ever season?

We have a very special episode for you today! Chris coaches a brave soul live on our podcast. Kristen gets coached on unpacking perfectionism patterns that are driving her burnout and overwhelm and keeping her trapped in cycles of self-doubt. It's a rare honour to listen in on a very personal coaching session, so a big vthank you to Kristen for allowing us to publish this beautiful episode. And also give Kristen some virtual/energetic love and compassion, as you listen to this intimate conversation. You might even find yourself resonating with the struggles, beliefs and insights that come out of this conversation. And if your heart is resonating with our style of holistic ROOT-root-cause healing & you are DONE with band-aid approaches and “managing” your symptoms and you are ready for real and long-lasting solutions, join the waitlist for our Ending Body Burnout Method. Today's episode gives you a glimpse into our “metaphysical” side of healing, which we call “Spark”. Spark is a CRITICAL piece that is often missed in the health industry. It gets to the very root of body burnout, by identifying deep-seated beliefs and stories that are causing sickness, and keeping you stuck from healing. Essentially, the process dives deep into your brain, your nervous system and your unconscious mind, and rewires your healing abilities from within. You can find out more about this here. In today's episode, Chris coaches Kristen on: How perfectionism planted at age 4 from high-expectations, has this overwhelmed mum of three still chasing impossible standards Despite high distinctions in studies, she can't shake the core belief that she's "not worthy" and must work incredibly hard to prove her value How her brain is wired to find evidence of "not enough" everywhere, creating exhausting cycles of overwork and self-doubt Her biggest fear is disappointing her kids who might think "she could've done so much better" while desperately wanting to model healthy relationships The breakthrough solution is rewiring her brain to actively hunt for proof she's AMAZING and rescue her younger self Show Note Links: Apply to come on our podcast for a Live Root-Cause Coaching Session here Join the WAITLIST to our Ending Body Burnout Method here (doors open in NOW!) Episode 366 might not be the most chipper of episodes, as LAFC crashes out of the 2025 Club World Cup after losing to Esperance, 1-0. A missed penalty by Denis Bouanga sealed LAFC's fate, and now, all that's left is to hope we score a goal against Flamengo. Also on this episode, Filly and Scarf defend Denis, applaud Hugo, and marvel at the Tunisian support in Nashville. Oh, and Javairo Dilrosun played for the first time. Enjoy 366!
LAFC took on English powerhouse Chelsea in the 2025 Club World Cup. That's the headline. A match so important that Filly & Scarf brought on two special guests, Laff and lifelong Chelsea AND all-time Black and Gold supporter Slippy on the pod to talk about it. LAFC would fall, 2-0, but the effort, the heart, and the support were absolutely there for all 90'. Not the result we wanted, but the boys did us proud. It's Episode 365, which means you can listen to a new episode every day for a year!

It's Episode 363, and LAFC has just won the most important match in club history! LAFC slays LIGA MX giant Club America, 2-1, after 120'!The atmosphere was unlike any other in the history of BMO Stadium, as Club America brought incredible support and a high-powered roster into Los Angeles for the winner-take-all showdown. After a tense, scoreless first half, Las Aquilas would get on the board first, with a little help from VAR. A soft penalty was awarded, which, of all people, Brian Rodriguez buries to put the visitors on top. Just before the 90', a perfect corner from Denis Bouanga finds the well-placed head of Igor Jesus, and we are level! What a time for Igor to score his first goal, and we are headed to Extra Time. In the second 15' half, Denis Bouanga pays off wonderful buildup from Olivier Giroud and Frankie Amaya, as his shot deflects off a defender's leg and in for the winner! LAFC is headed to the Club World Cup!Also on this episode, we take a peek at our opponents, Chelsea, Flamengo, and ES Tunis. Scarf loses his voice, Filly gets it right, Maxime Chanot is amazing without playing a minute, and apologies all around to Olivier Giroud!
LAFC gets ready to battle Club America for a shot at 9.5 million dollars and a trip to its 1st ever FIFA Club World Cup, where they would be in a group w/ clubs like Flamengo, ES Tunis and Chelsea. Lots to think about, but Filly and The Scarf do all the prep work to get you ready.
Filly unpacks the DFB-Pokal final between VfB Stuttgart and Cinderella story Arminia Bielefeld – a seemingly one-sided affair that turned into a thrilling battle at the end. Meanwhile, FC Heidenheim will play another year in the Bundesliga, defying improbable odds with a last-minute relegation salvation! Braunschweig also secured their 2. Bundesliga status by winning their playoff against Saarbrücken. This week, the Bros discuss where Florian Wirtz might go, why Erik Ten Hag could struggle at Leverkusen, and why Filly hopes Thomas Müller avoids the MLS.
Filly and Scarf are back together for the full episode, Episode 361, dedicated to the disappointment that was the 25th edition of the Los Angeles Derby. The boys recap the 2-2 draw in Carson that felt much more like a loss, discuss the Mark Delgado ring fiasco, debate hugging your rival after a match, and much more! Enjoy 361!

LAFC heads down to Carson to take on the winless Galaxy. Filly and Scarf are back together, so check this one out to hear their Players To Watch, Keys to the Match, and Score Prediction!
LAFC gets its most convincing win of the season against their rivals from the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle Sounders. With Scarf still in Georgia, Filly and Laff give you the breakdown while also taking some liberties and having some fun.
Filly and the 12th member of DOTB, Chris Lafferty give you all the info you need before LAFC's 13th game of the MLS Regular Season and 25th meeting against Seattle in all competitions.
This might be the first episode of Defenders all season that we've had a solo Filly. With Scarf on a class trip and Lafferty at work the platinum haired flamingo rejoins DOTB. Getting right down to business, this is a quick recap of the Whitecaps game as there will be 2 pods and 2 One More Sleeps this week. Hopefully the troubles with the Rodecaster also come to an end for the next pod. So, the big news is that FILLY IS BACK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON, and we couldn't be any happier. Oh and LAFC dropped points at BC Place!
It was supposed to be a bit easier than it was, but LAFC battled back from 2-1 down late to steal a point at home against St. Louis. It's Episode 357, and if not for Saint Denis, LAFC would be in a world of trouble. Twice down in the match, LAFC needed a dime from Ünder to get Denis his first, and then a bomb from Lloris to put Denis in position for his brace. The rest of the attack? If not for solid set pieces and corners by Denis, there wouldn't be much to talk about. The load is heavy, but, for now, Denis remains up to the task. Also on this episode, it's a late and brief return for Filly! Yay! Frankie Amaya makes his debut, LAFC celebrates the kids, and Ante Razov keeps in real in the presser. Enjoy 357!
It's Episode 354, and it's a collapse of epic proportions, as LAFC goes to Miami, takes a 2-0 aggregate lead WITH the tiebreaker, only to squander it all away, losing 3-1 to Messi and Inter Miami and crashing out of the 2025 CCC. Ugh.Things looked great for the Black and Gold early, as captain Aaron Long reported for duty, scoring a chaotic 9' goal to give the boys an early lead, and the tiebreaker. That's about where the good news ends. Miami scores three unanswered, including two from Lionel Messi. Denis Bouanga missed or squandered a series of great chances, including one in second-half stoppage, and that proved to be the undoing for LAFC in the CCC. SEVEN, yes, seven big chances missed for LAFC. Miami wins the match, 3-1, and wins the aggregate, 3-2, to advance to the semis. Also on this match, Scarf is back from Costa Rica, Filly suffers no fools lightly when it comes to Dolo out, and Laff harkens back to his LAFC debut as part of This Date In LAFC History. Enjoy 354!
Filly and Lafferty preview LAFC's upcoming fixture in the CCC QF, while also battling trolls in the chat.
It's Episode 348, and it's a roller coaster! LAFC gets dominated for the better part of 90', only to have our new DP, Cengiz Ünder, come off the bench on his debut, streak through the middle of the pitch to intercept an errant Crew pass, and find Denis Bouanga at the death to put the nail in the Crew's CCC coffin. Sure, LAFC lost, 2-1, but there is momentum to be had! Also on this episode, Laff tells a story (it may still be going on), Scarf thinks he's clever, and Filly... ugh... Filly was right. About what, you ask? Tune in to 348 to find out!
LAFC heads to Columbus to take on the Crew, up 3-0 on aggregate, for Leg 2 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16! Filly and Scarf give you their score predictions, players to watch, and all the other fun you're used to on One More Sleep!
LAFC headed up to Seattle to take on their rivals, the Seattle Sounders, amid roster rotation and a CCC match in Columbus just 3 days later. A solid first half gave way to the dam breaking in the second, and a heavily rotated LAFC squad took a beating, 5-2. On the bright side, Nathan Ordaz and David Martinez kept up their game of "whatever you can do, I can do better". On the not-so-bright side, Marlon suffered a pulled hammy while Olivier Giroud remained ineffective. It's all here on 347, so join Filly and Scarf in the recap, and then forget all about it!
Columbus Crew. Just the name of the club struck fear into the hearts of LAFC supporters over the last year and a half. Three straight losses to the Black and Yellow, including a 5-1 drubbing at BMO, and it was easy to see why Filly and Scarf approached this match with a bit of trepidation. But this is 2025, and this is a new kind of Black and Gold club, one that suffocates you with defense while Denis Bouanga carves you up from the left. Here on Episode 346, listen as Scarf, Lafferty, and even Filly break down the somewhat surprising beatdown LAFC gave Columbus, 3-0. Also on this episode, we revisit the LAFC days of Diego Rossi, spawn the unlikely mashup of Andre the Giant and Andre Horta, and wish Mama Bufanda the happiest of birthdays!
LAFC gets set to take on NYCFC, a club they haven't seen in an MLS match since 2021. Will LAFC defeat the Pigeons for the first time? Will Denis Bouanga get going? Check in on Filly and Scarf to hear their thoughts ahead of tomorrow's match.
It's Episode 3-4-3, and LAFC keeps the streak alive! 8 season openers, 8 wins, this one coming at the expense of the Loons, as LAFC defeated Minnesota United, 1-0. Jeremy Ebobisse nets the winner on Denis Bouanga's bobblehead match! Also on this episode, Cinnamon Toast Crunch joins the Black and Gold, we profile Kenny Nielsen, and Filly 3:16 crashes through the episode! Enjoy 343!
