Welcome to Episode 12 of the DoubleClutch.ca Podcast! Nathan has fallen in love yet again. This time, it's with a big V8 sedan that won't be around for much longer. Why are his affairs so passionate yet so short-lived? Plus, with the 2024 Chevy Trax RS in the garage this week, the crew ponders what happend to all the "cheap" cars you could've bought not too long ago. (Hint: they've all become more expensive crossovers — except for the Trax, which has somehow stayed under $30K fully loaded despite its glow-up for 2024.) As well, we have the 2024 Hyundai Kona in the garage, Imran is yearning for a Mazdaspeed CX-30, and BMW's X7 M60i proves techy and gimmicky three-row SUVs don't have to be boats. What we drove this week: 2024 Chrysler 300C Final Edition 2024 Chevrolet Trax RS 2024 Hyundai Kona 2024 Mazda CX-30 2024 BMW X7 M60i Enjoy the show? It's time for another Repeat! This is one of our earliest episodes and it is a favorite because of one woman's powerful story. Annika Huff (formerly Annika Mack) is a survivor of human trafficking. She speaks with us about her experiences in the life, how she got out, and how she was able to move on with her life. Then, Dr. Bryn Mumma takes us through her research on how we can better identify potential victims in the ED. Dr. Rachel Robitz shares some advice on how to approach patients who may be trafficked, create a safe space, and offer support and resources. And, finally, our own Dr. Julia Magaña discusses how she manages this in pediatric patients. Stay tuned for our next episode for important new research and updates! Have you ever wanted something so bad? Even though you knew you couldn't afford it? When I first laid my eyes on that 2006 Chrysler 300, I knew i had to have it. Even though I had no business walking into that dealership to buy a car, I was not leaving without a handshake. I got the car! Would you like to know what else I got? A car note I couldn't afford. Insurance I really couldn't afford. And more debt. This was one of the worst financial decisions I've ever made. I paid the price. Literally. Have you ever made any bad financial decisions? I'd love to hear them. Share your stories with me (info below) and I'll share my favorite ones on a future episode. From the first line of the spot, this AVO is overflowing with opinion and point-of-view. The AVO is dismissive of the idea of a fuel-efficient car as an end in itself. And even contractions like "gonna" and "gotta" show that this AVO is a real person, not a disembodied voice. Of particular note is the use of the word "and" on the line "One with character, and conviction, and pride..." This is meant to sound like we're naming these attributes as we think of them, rather than reading them off a prepared page. VO: If you're gonna build a fuel-efficient car, The first thing you gotta do, is build a car that's worth building. One with character, and conviction, and pride you can notice from down the street. Then, and only then, do you put in an 8-speed transmission that gets 31 miles per gallon. That combination of luxury and efficiency only comes from one place in the world. (On-screen text: The new, 31 mile per gallon, Chrysler 300. Chrysler. Imported from Detroit.)

All that and more, plus a design tour of the 2011 Chrysler 300.
The U.S. federal government socked Toyota with another fine, this time for its tardy handling of recalls and other safety issues. Chrysler just released pictures of its redesigned 300, which should start arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of next year. The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is one of four trade groups that’s asking a federal appeals court to overturn a ruling by the U.S. EPA that allows gasoline blends with 15 percent ethanol. All that and more, plus John shares some of his thoughts on the Ford Focus RS 500 he recently drove.
