No new comics out this week, but plenty of news out of New York Comic Con from Oct. 17-21, including word that Poe Dameron is returning to comics via Dark Horse, Marc Guggenheim and Madibek Musabekov will have a new monthly from Marvel featuring Jedi knights set before the events of The Phantom Menace and plenty of hype about the Battle of Eriadu that's about to go down in the pages of The HIgh Republic Adventures Phase III.What wasn't revealed? Marvel's plans for Star Wars when The Battle of Jakku maxi-series concludes in January. We're hopeful that more details about what's to come will be doled out in the coming weeks. January solicits are due later this week and there might be some clues there (maybe).Comics Discussed This Week:Not a oneStar Wars Comics New to Marvel Unlimited This Week:Star Wars (Vol. 3) #48News: Marvel's January solicits are due out later this week, as are Dark Horse's March solicits.The Dark Horse Star Wars comics panel on Saturday at NYCC brought news that Ethan Sacks is writing a Poe Dameron comic that's set before the events of The Force Awakens that sees the pilot on a secret mission. So secret that Sacks would say no more.Alyssa Wong is penning a The High Republic Adventures Phase III one-shot that centers on the effects of and fallout from the upcoming battle of Eriadu that's about to unspool through issue #17 of The High Republic Adventures Phase III.Writers also broke down some of the elements of Jan. 22's THRA Annual 2025, with Scott's story focused on Baron Boolan, Justina Ireland's is about Vernestra Rwoh (including a Stellan Gios flashback), while Wong says they've written about Driggit Parse teaming up with a teen to take down the Nihil.Cavan Scott said he is writing another halloween-inspired comic, while Michael Siglain says the guest-star villain of January's start of the five-issue The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents will be revealed shortly.With regard to the Mace Windu and Grievous graphic novels announced at NYCC today, it's worth noting these aren't new. Dark Horse noted back in October 2023 at NYCC that they were among the characters slated to get such books in the Hyperspace Stories graphic novel line through 2024, led by Qui-Gon, which was initially set to publish in July 2024. It's now due out March 4Due out May 20 is Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Phase III Vol. 3, collecting issues 11-13 and the Wedding Spectacular. The 112-page TPB from Dark Horse will retail for $19.99.With regard to Friday's Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at NYCC, in terms of Star Wars comics, the series Marc Guggenheim is writing is called Star Wars: Jedi Knights, with each issue a self-contained story. It's set before the events of The Phantom Menace. Featured characters will include Yaddle and a new Jedi who is disabled created expressly for the story. Although almost half of the episodes of Daredevil: Born Again had been shot when production was halted due to the writer's strike, Marvel Studios has decided to start over! They quietly let go head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and also released the attached directors as part of a significant creative reboot of the series according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio is now on the hunt for new writers and directors with a different take. Daredevil is a property that many feel the Netflix show nailed on tone, plot, and writing, and there has been some pushback about the supposed Disneyfication of the darker characters in their appearances thus far on Disney+. New York Comic Con was hosted last week and brought forth a swath of new trailers spanning several different genres, A fresh sneak peek of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live which will premiere in February, A full trailer for Netflix's Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, premiering on November 17, A new look at Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, releasing 2 episodes globally Nov. 17, And The first trailer for the upcoming anime series Dragon Ball: Daima. which is set to premiere in the fall of 2024. With the actors still on strike, comic cons have become more attuned to their name this year and there was a bunch of exciting comic book news released at New York Comic Con. We'll briefly break these down by franchise. Marvel Comics A Miss Minutes comic was teased from Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Celbuski. Artist Peach Momoko is the creative force behind a new Ultimate X-Men series and Marvel is also launching the first Ultimate Black Panther series. The mainstream Marvel Universe is heading toward a vampire-themed crossover event written by Avengers author Jed McKay. Scarlet Witch and Quiksilver will be getting a new comic run in 2024 celebrating the duo's 60th anniversary and will be an evolution of the current ongoing Scarlet Witch series by Steve Orlando and Lorenzo Tammetta.. DC Comics Return of the Elseworlds announced as an imprint, with no less than six new series. DC will reprint Batman #428 - the issue that killed Jason Todd's Robin - the new reprint will be an alternate version. We'll be Getting a John Constantine/Hellblazer series from Si Spurrier and Aaron Campbell. Star Wars/Lucasfilm Publishing Jody House and Timothy Zahn are headlining an adaptation of Zahn's Thrawn: Alliances novel into comic format starting in January.. Marc Bernardin will helm a new Mace Windu miniseries to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, also to begin in January. Lucasfilm also showed covers for some Dark Horse Star Wars comics and announced a new line of graphic novels tackling Qui-Gon Jinn, written by George Mann, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, written by Cecil Castelucci. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse begins streaming on Netflix on October 31. Last week, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers declared that negotiations with SAG-AFTRA are suspended, given that the gap between the parties is “too great.” Netflix has picked up the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy following the show's cancellation by Paramount+ in June. Season 1 which was previously available on Paramount+, will be released on Netflix later in 2023. The second season, currently in production, will debut on Netflix in 2024. In a new copyright filing by Marvel Studios, it's been revealed Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing "Mystery Man" in the upcoming Ironheart series. Previously reported rumors have pointed toward the Borat star playing the villain Mephisto. Keith Giffen, a legendary comic creator known for his work on Justice League International and Legion of Super-Heroes, as well as co-creating characters like Rocket Raccoon, Lobo, and Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle, has passed away at the age of 70.

Luke Skywalker senses a great evil emanating from the dark side and plans to extinguish it once and for all, but will he journey too far?

In this episode of Star Joes, Ryan and Robert are joined by long time friend of the show, Eric Grubb, to start a journey through the years of Star Wars comics that were published by Dark Horse.
