Greetings, and welcome back to Horror Business. We've got one heck of an episode in store for you guys as we're talking about 1984's Friday The 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter and 1986's Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives First off thank you to the fine folks over at Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations, the premiere screen-printing company of the Lehigh Valley. Chris Reject and his merry band of miscreants are ready to work with you to bring to life your vision of a t-shirt for your business, band, project, or whatever else it is you need represented by a shirt, sweater, pin, or coozy. Head on over to www.xlvacx.com to check them out. And as always thank you to our Patreon subscribers. Your support means the world to us and we are eternally thankful. If you would like to become a Patron, head to patreon.com/cinepunx. Thanks in advance! We briefly talk what we've doing involving horror recently. Liam discusses listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl series of novels, and be we briefly talk about our favorite audiobooks that add something to the source material. We talk about the film Touch Me, and Liam talks about listening to The Stand on audiobook. Justin talks about the films The Whistle and Bodycam. We talk at length about the film Undertone. Up first is Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter. We open by talking about the appeal of Jason Vorhees as being based on the fear of the other in that until the sixth movie he is essentially a mentally challenged hermit living in the woods. We touch upon the upcoming series. Justin talk abouts the checkered history of Paramount's support of the franchise in that they were “becoming embarrassed” with their association with the series and intended to kill off Jason and have this be the end of the series but the financial response of the films inspired them to continue churning out sequels, and Justin ascertains that these movies are the epitome of the worst part of capitalism. We talk about the various problems with the horror community in general and toxic fandom as a whole. Justin talks about how not minding the first three F13 movies he doesn't really find the character of Jason Vorhees compelling at all.  Justin talks about what he likes about the film: the filmmaker decided to make a child the protagonist in a film that was very clearly not at all made for kids, and not just a protagonist but a smart protagonist. Liam talks about his experience with these films in that part six was the first of the series he saw and how he weirdly misremembers them, including a moment in which a character is murdered in an over the top almost silly manner (the infamous “he's killing me!” scene) as well as the many, many extended chase scenes, and how the mystique of the character is ruined by shots of him running, and Justin adds that either a brisk walk or straight up just showing up is the only acceptable way slasher villains should move. We talk about Tommy Jarvis' method of fucking with Jason, and how it's at least innovative for a horror movie. Up next is Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. We start by talking about how this is the first film where Jason is overtly supernatural, and that Tommy did actually kill him but now he's resurrected and actually undead. Justin talks about how it's weirdly believable that Tommy would need to see the body before believing Jason was actually dead. He also talks about how unlike part 4 he finds this scene entirely irredeemable. Liam talks about how the movie doesn't hold up to his memory of it. Liam talks about how ridiculous it is that everyone has willingly forgets about Jason. He also talks about how there's a weird sense of humor in the film that isn't present in the prior films, especially in the infamous paintball scene, and how he didn't really remember that as a kid, although he says the “quippiness” was a bit much. We discuss how the ending of chaining Jason to the bottom of the lake sounds cool but there's no real logic to it. First off thank you to Christan for not only suggesting these films but also being a faithful patreon subscriber. It truly means the world to us when people see and hear what we do and decide to support us in any way possible. As always thank you for listening and to everyone and anyone who donated on Patreon, checked this episode out, or shared a tweet/shared a post on FB/gave us love by recommending us to someone. Happy Spring, or Second Winter, or Third Winter, or whatever crazy weather pattern our ill environment throws at us. For example, here is Southern Ohio it was a beautiful day of mid 70s weather but tomorrow we are expecting highs in the 30s. Our climate is in danger, what will we do to save it? Also, what does any of that have to do with another new episode of RPGrinders??? I mean, besides the fact that we all need this planet to survive! What could possibly be a better way for man to fight back against an environment on the brink? That's right. WAR! Nothing does the world better than blowing shit up. America is doing its part to help as we have started another war. Killing, destruction, and making the environment toxic. What could be better for saving the planet than blowing it the fuck up? (Normally, I would combine the former and latter paragraphs. This time, I felt like it would be in poor taste.) So instead of a stupid line about dropping bombs, I'm just going to get right into the news. Today's news is music to gamers ears because today we announce a bunch of release dates! We have release dates as early as this month, including Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, and survival RPG Everwind. Release dates for April, like Pokemon Champions and Valorborn. We even have release dates for May and all the way into 2027, such as Pokemon Wind Waves and Celestial Return. Pokemon fans have a few reasons to look forward. If the war wasn't bad enough to destroy the environment, the American government has decided to help speed up the process with laws legalizing banned chemicals and deregulating chemical use and disposal. This is but one example of the string of grievances we refer to as the Stinko of the Week. We have many more things to complain about in and outside of the gaming industry. Ok, mostly outside because the United States has started another war. This country has a long history of starting wars and engaging in acts of regime changes across the globe. The vast majority of the American people do not want us involved in any wars. No more innocent people dying because wealthy people only want more. We have nothing but condemnation for one of the most horrific and avoidable atrocities committed by the vile Trump administration. The bombing of an Iranian school is a horrific act that should never again be repeated! Killing innocent people seems to be the only thing our government knows.  Between the bombs and the climate deniers, the planet Earth his moving closer to a tipping point. Unlike this episodes Panic Zone, running away is not an option. We prefer to end the show on a more positive note, because we all must have hope. There is a lot of hard work to do but it isn't all lost. Just like a run in with Jason Vorhees, we still have a small chance to survive. The chance is growing smaller all of the time.  We are all in this one together. We can't be complacent. Earth is our home. Will we continue to let a small group of greedy assholes destroy it for their own personal gains or will we stand up and force them to face accountability?              I know I started off having fun, but I couldn't make light of war. Will humanity ever fucking learn??? When will we stop allowing ourselves to be nothing but pawns to corrupt governments and their wealthy donors?      And yes, I did mean to make it all about the environment. The war was just too important not to mention and I'm too angry not to rant!

The Friday the 13th movie series is one of the top slasher movie franchises of the 1980s and beyond, so this week the Junkies take a look at Jason Voorhees, the unkillable movie monster with the staggeringly high body count who has been to camp, to hell, to outer space and has battled Freddy Krueger. The Junkies look at all 12 (not 13?) movies in the series so far, compare Jason to the other unstoppable slashers who made it big in the 1980s, Halloween's Michael Myers and Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy, and figure out which of the three they could fend off if they ever found themselves having to choose one. Then the Junkies look to the future with Jason, and the newly-formed Jason Universe that could bring us that elusive 13th movie in the series - and more. Part VII: The New Blood (1988) features the first appearance of Kane Hodder as Jason Vorhees who also sets a filming record in this movie for the longest legit stunt fire scene up to that date. There is a new cast of victims for Jason to prey upon, but the same tired formula continues in this very predictable movie leading to future changes. Did you know this movie was supposed to be Carrie verses Jason? It was also supposed to be Freddy verses Jason too but that was pushed down the road a few years. Let's talk about it. We go big on the podcast this week as the biggest movie week of the year is upon us. Neal Pollack and Stephen Garrett, childhood best friends turned mortal film-critic enemies, come together to discuss 'Wicked,' the blockbusteriest blockbuster of the year. Battle lines draw immediately as Neal favors the performance of Ariana Grande, a theater kid who is clearly playing her dream role. Stephen prefers the more nuanced performance of Cynthia Erivo, who Neal finds a bit pretentious. They both agree that there's no reason on Earth why this needs to be two movies, and that there's a lot of filler set in a "Hogwarts without magic." But some of the musical numbers are lavish and fun. Neal is also disappointed that the monkeys do not wear diapers. There's no such disappointment when it comes to 'Gladiator II.' Stephen thought the sequel was fun but unnecessary. Neal, on the other hand, really appreciates a movie that features CGI baboons, sharks, an angry rhino, Denzel Washington, and a monkey wearing a diaper. He calls star Paul Mescal an "angry barista". An instant camp classic, that's what we say.Bobby Hilliard joins Neal to discuss something very disgusting, the 'Terrifier' movies, which Neal is too scared to see. Bobby worries, and with good reason, that the antics of Art the Clown are desensitizing audiences to the worst possible violence imaginable. There are things in the 'Terrifier' movie so horrible, you couldn't begin to imagine them. Bobby warns Neal that there's nothing even remotely humanizing about Art the Clown. He has no Freddy Krueger, Jason Vorhees, or Michael Myers backstory. It's irredeemable gore, with absolutely no reason to exist other than to make audiences go "ewwww". Terrifier 3 made more than $80 million at the box office. Someone is digging it.Our podcast is unlimited. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

This week, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, the town goes absolutely crazy when a teen is brutally killed, in her home. The mystery is solved pretty quickly, when police focus in on another teenager, with a bit of an obsession with horror movies, and an avowed desire to model himself after Michael Myers, from the Halloween films, and Jason, the hockey mask wearing killer, from the Friday The 13th movies. But when police can't find him, people keep their kids inside, and movies are even cancelled, as the town literally hunts him! This story is complete with a wild ending!!Along the way, we find out that just because you like horror movies, it doesn't mean you're a murderer, that if Jason Vorhees is your idol, you might be a murderer, and if you actual imitate the killing in these movies, then you're definitely a murderer!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports!
