Wendee grew up in double income household working hard, but she learned to fend for herself when she was little. She never went to school/college since she was always told to get a job and got a job first thing after high school. When I first began my direct sales business, I attended a conference where Belinda Ellsworth was a speaker. It was listening to Belinda that transformed how I approached my business. I credit Belinda with teaching me practically everything I know about Direct Sales, so it was an incredible honor to get to spend some time chatting with her about her incredible journey. SHOW NOTES Jennie didn’t want her new Direct Sales venture to just be a hobby because she says "hobbies cost you money they don’t make you money." Starting out she read as many direct sales books as she possibly could. She also spoke to other people and other direct sales companies to find out what made them successful She was told to find a mentor. She says "why just one mentor, why not five?" She was successful, earned trips, car bonuses, and free product. The part of the business that Jennie really enjoyed was working with her team. She realized that what she was doing was coaching her people to success. She felt a calling to coach. She coached in her business for 6 1/2 years and then went and got certified in coaching in 2017 as a direct sales coach. One of her early obstacles was that she ran out of parties and customers. She became a member of a networking group and managed to fill up her calendar again. Launching her direct sales business was relatively easy because it started with a party and she loves organizing parties The people she invited she asked them to bring someone that she didn’t know. SOME KEYS TO DIRECT SALES SUCCESS A key to her success was to go all in. She made the decision up front to have an all in mindset. Another key is to treat your direct sales business like a business. NETWORKING ADVICE Go into networking situations and set aside the appropriate amount of time to make it work. Try and make strategic connections with people that you know are going to be your customers. The four pocket approach to networking. One pocket is for your cards another pocket is for people that you are interested in following up on a third pocket is for maybes in the fourth pocket is for people that you are 100% want to follow up on. Go in with the attitude that you’re going to make one or two great connections. And a networking session provide value first by asking people "who are the connections that you need to make to make your business successful this year?" And then try to connect them to other people you know. Write down the names on their cards who you want to introduce them to and make those introductions within the next 24 to 48 hours. A WIFI BUSINESS Running a Wi-Fi business allows Jennie to have flexibility in her schedule so that she can be there for her kids when they come home from school. One of the ways that Jennie is leveraging her time is by working with other people who don’t offer the services that she has but are complementary to her coaching business such as a hypnotist and counselors to help with trauma. WHY? Jennie’s why includes being her own boss and having the time to be with her kids OVERCOMING SALES RESISTANCE Jenny helps people overcome their resistance to selling by helping them with their mindset. She says, if you’re concerned about the sale then it’s about you. Go into it with the attitude that you’re going to help people make the best-educated buying decision they can. Ask yourself "what’s best for them not what’s best for you." Jennie's Recommended Book - "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" by Mark Manson.
