Many thanks to all the Earpers who attended, and extra thanks to those who got on mic with us to chat about our beloved show! Special thanks to our Crackjack Producer (CJP) Steven, who made sure we sounded good. Host Erika Ensign, Annette Wierstra and Kirsten Goruk.

On this episode of The Web of Queer, we review the tenth episode of series 9, Face the Raven, and have a discussion about bi erasure. In our review of Face the Raven, we discuss the apparent end of Clara's story. What did we think of how her death was handled? Were we surprised to see Me again? Did we like of the concept and execution of the trap street? For our bi erasure discussion, we talk about the passive bias that has removed bisexual/pansexual people from the queer narrative, and what might be causing it. When we found out that Gareth Roberts was the scribe behind “The Caretaker,” we all expected a rompity-romp-romp, much like “The Lodger” and “Closing Time.” And while this story did have rompy moments, it was also funny, touching and filled with nice character touches that you’ll only find out about if you listen to our review. So do so! This weekend was also when Edmonton Expo descended on the Edmonton Expo Centre in sunny Edmonton, Alberta, and Steven was there to moderate a panel on Doctor Who and more specifically Series Eight with Erika Ensign, convention general manager Shane Turgeon, and Sara Ellen. Tune in to find out what these noble souls thought of P-Cap, J-Co, The Moff and everything else we’ve seen so far in Series Eight! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
There may be only three Verities this week (Dratted real life interfering with our recording schedule! Hugs to Tansy and her under-the-weather wee one.), but we press on and manage to fill the time with lots of heistey squee. Join Deb, Erika, and Liz as we cover one of the lighter episodes of series 8 thus far. Erika proves she's not totally heartless and does enjoy the occasional fun ep. Deb doesn't like aliens who look like Brony cosplayers. And Liz battles a dive-bombing fly. What did you think of "Time Heist"? The Capaldi goodness just keeps on coming! Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we tackle what seems to be another divisive episode amongst Doctor Who fans, and the Verities are no different! Though we do disagree on parts of the story, we can all still come together on our love for Capaldi and Clara. And on our opinion that Deb may have a Moffat problem. (Sometimes an edit is just an edit--or IS it?) What did you think of Listen? While Scott is away on a long-delayed honeymoon, I've been left with the keys to the studio. And that means no "typical" in-studio interview this episode. But Scott's absence, while exceedingly lonely, gave me the opportunity to get out there and chat with people. And since it seems that this week, there's tons of stuff going on in Champion City, I spoke with Kandrix Foong organizer of Edmonton Expo; Matthew Dykstra one of the co-organizers of Extra Life Edmonton; and Ryan Ro, a local musician and Unknown Studio alumnus. Here's the episode breakdown: 0:00: Intro - "Loneliness" 2:43: Kandrix Foong and the first annual Edmonton Expo 12:22: Extra-Life with Matthew Dykstra 27:57: Ryan Ro on music and his album At Last My Dear 50:44: "Melancholy Green," track 2 from Ryan's album Photo by Mr T in DC on Flickr.
