Men's sexuality is under siege from every direction — algorithmic porn, AI girlfriends engineered to extract money by never actually satisfying you, and a culture that hasn't given men a single useful framework for talking about any of it. “..We need to reach a point where the people as individuals and as a population are stronger than governing systems, and those governing systems can't be in a position to control; they need to simply govern, build infrastructure, fix roads - not have control and power over people.” That is the call from Lauren Evanthia, the founder of the Organic Humanity Movement (OHM) on the NdB Sunday Show with Chris Steyn as they talk about major developments in the past week: two ward councillors being gunned down in the space of an hour on voter registration weekend; former President Jacob Zuma firing his once powerful daughter, Duduzile, and MKP former spokesperson, her close ally; President Cyril Ramaphosa pondering the Democratic Alliance's (DA's) Cabinet reshuffle requests that sees its former leader, John Steenhuisen, demoted to a deputy minister's post; and Deputy President Paul Mashatile - who is on a working visit in China - seemingly ready to step into presidential shoes while Ramaphosa is doing everything possible to avoid impeachment. They also talk about more corruption being exposed in the South African Police Force (SAPS) with twenty police officers in the Western Cape charged with alleged links to the taxi industry, and Nelson Mandela Bay being ranked the 3rd most violent city in the world.

Dane Sanders watched his best friend Tim Kruger — an Ironman triathlete — die of stomach cancer at 50. In this edition of the NdB Sunday Show, hosted by Chris Steyn, Lauren Evanthia, the founder of the Organic Humanity Movement (OHM), analyses Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie's unwavering support for President Cyril Ramaphosa in a GNU that “it is really held up by toothpicks at this moment…in a last ditch effort to try hold some semblance of normality so our economy doesn't completely crumbles”; former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen's performance in Parliament; why his party is at “a little bit at a crisis point” and have “reached the maximum capacity of support”; continuing chaos at former President Jacob Zuma's MKP with MP Papa Penny off to Floyd Shivambu's new party; and the apparent support among blacks on social media for FF Plus Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald. Questioning the accuracy of the latest crime statistics, Evanthia also comments on the armed invasion this weekend at the home of former International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor. “I think when things like this happen to people in power, are they going to wake up and actually do something? History says no...” Meanwhile, she warns that the murder of two tourists in the Kruger National Park - the first in its history - is bound to be a huge blow to much needed tourism.
Bra Aubrey and listeners shared their thoughts on Ramaphosa’s bid to interdict the impeachment process following the ConCourt ruling, Nhlamulo Ndhlela’s removal as MK spokesperson, and other trending news from the evening’s discussion. In the latest edition of the Electoral Road Show with Chris Steyn, Elections Analyst Wayne Sussman dissects this week's by-election results: The Patriotic Alliance (PA) makes history by winning its first ever ward in the Upington area. It took the ward off the Democratic Alliance, and grew its support from a paltry 1% to an “astonishing” 37% of the vote, while the DA fell from 47% to 29%. The African National Congress (ANC) did not have a bad night either: it won a ward off a local party in the Siyathemba Municipality with its support growing from 39% to 51%. The ANC also had a big night in another by-election, this one in North West. “There are people who write off the ANC. There are people who say that the ANC is done. But here in a key township… in a gold mining town in the Northwest, the ANC's vote share is climbing from 72% to 81%.” Sussman notes that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were not able to capitalise on their Phala Phala victory over President Cyril Ramaphosa. He also 9comments on the engagement of the Independent Electoral Commission's (IEC) with former President Jacob Zuma's MKP in Nkandla as part of its preparations for the Local Government Elections in November.
We have reached the final episode of the series:”Trans Men: In Their Own Words”.This conversation began with Episode #1, looking at the collective cultural moment with The Seed and the Soil. We explored how trans folk represent a trickster figure, troubling the psychic architecture of the binary many of us were raised with. We talked about the urge to ‘monster' the other, but we also looked at the history of how gender has been used as a tool of social control. In Episode #2, we moved past the intellect and into Stories of Transition. My guests shared the intimate vulnerability of their own journeys - the grief, joy and reckonings that bind us all in the search for a place in the Book of Life. And now in this final episode, Emmanuel, Kanoa, Lev, and Aliko move beyond individual stories to examine the architecture of men's work. We address the faultline currently trembling modern men's spaces: the tension between a masculinity fixed in biological certainty and one defined by collective stewardship. For men's work facilitators, this conversation serves as a guide for understanding how and why to consider including trans men, as well as the broader transition of men's work itself. We are tasked with moving from a narrow focus on ‘personal wellness' toward the regeneration of culture - calling forth a masculinity that is aware, regulated, and in service to thriving life. You can find the full guest bios & links to their work on the Series Page.I'd love to hear your comments & reflections below. Heads up, if you are a man seeking to explore the mythopoetic path, you are invited to check out The Archetypal Compass. Join a mythic brotherhood aimed at repatterning your relationship to sex, soul and purpose.SHOW NOTES: 02:43 - The Faultline at the Mankind Project: Ian addresses the recent friction at the MKP 40th anniversary and how it exposed the tension between biological essentialism and the evolution of modern men's spaces.06:46 - The Code of Testosterone: Aliko challenges the definition of manhood, shifting the inquiry from physical genitalia to the codes and blueprints of masculine presence that trans men share with cis men.11:23 - The Shadow of the Phallus: Exploring how the presence of trans men acts as an accountability mirror for cis men, forcing a reckoning with the historical harm done to the feminine that many circles try to escape.13:50 - Restoring the Sacred Tapestry: Emmanuel discusses the eco-spiritual paradigm of men's work, moving beyond a one-size-fits-all manhood box into the authentic restoration of a sacred and divine masculinity.18:48 - The Responsibility of the Elder: A call to ensure that the wisdom, initiation, and depth of practice found in legacy spaces are made accessible across the entire masculine spectrum.21:42 - The Unique Messenger: Kanoa explains why the message of accountability lands differently when it comes from a man who has navigated the world perceived as a woman and survived the violence of the patriarchy.23:12 - Purity Myths and White Supremacy: How the hyper-focus on purity in affinity spaces mirrors white supremacist structures and why intersex folks are vital to breaking the patriarchal archetype.27:17 - Investigating the Fear: Lev reflects on the assumption of difference and invites cis men to look at where their fear of losing their masculinity actually originates.32:36 - Detaching from Biological Essentialism: A deep dive into the question of safety, identifying that patriarchy-not transness-is the root of violence in both men's and women's spaces.37:19 - The Seed and the Sword: Addressing the mythic dimension of anatomy and the responsibility of stewards to ask how they are using their sword to protect or to manipulate.46:36 - Activation in the Great Collapse: Emmanuel pivots from internal healing to the external harvest, asking what masculinity is called to bring to a world currently undergoing ecological and social breakdown.50:31 - The Facilitator's Tactical Guide: Emmanuel and Aliko offer a framework for conveners on self-inquiry, group reconciliation, and how to issue a transparent, sovereign invitation to trans men.55:46 - Relaxing into Enoughness: How decoupling biology from gender allows all men to step out of the rigid expectations of patriarchy and recognize their inherent value.1:06:48 - Reporting the Patriarchal Crime: Invoking bell hooks' vision from The Will to Change to reconsider male desire and heal the mental illness of patriarchal violence.1:13:46 - Embracing the Chaos: Final reflections on opening the circle to meet the collapsing structures of our time with a more diverse, loving, and whole masculinity. Following talks between President Cyril Ramaphosa and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the South African men sold into combat in Russia are being processed for their return. In his latest interview with BizNews, the real founder of MKP, Jabulani Khumalo - who has been supporting the families - calls for the arrest of those among the “hijackers” of his party for their alleged involvement in the trafficking “…we are saying to the government of South Africa they must punish these people because they are known who they are. There are five that went to court, but it's not all of them….I don't know why they are still not behind bars…And they are still continuing to make a lot of problems within the communities because they are thugs.” Slamming former President Jacob Zuma, Khumalo says: “Jacob Zuma is allowing all these shenanigans because remember, the government has allowed him for very long to fool the government to abuse our money in going to courts just for him to stay away from jail. And because of that, thinks he's above the law…”
In the latest edition of the Electoral Roadshow with Chris Steyn, Elections Analyst Wayne Sussman dissects the latest by-election results in which the Patriotic Alliance (PA) won big again, while the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) managed to hold MKP at bay. “In 2021, the Patriotic Alliance only won one single Proportional Representation seat in George. They weren't a player in George politics. This morning as we wake up, they are now the third largest party in the George council. They have won five consecutive by-elections. They've won a seat off the GOOD party and now four off the Democratic Alliance, including three seats in the space of three weeks. The DA are in deep trouble in George and the PA are on the rise.” Sussman further comments on Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi's hotel shower amid the severe water supply crisis in the province. “This is a major challenge. And if the ANC and its coalition partners cannot turn it around…there'll be a lot of ANC councillors who will lose their proportional representation seats at the very least come the next election.” Sussman also previews tonight's State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In his latest interview with Chris Steyn, the real founder of MKP, Jabulani Khumalo, reveals threats to the actual directors of the “hijacked” party over a picket to distance themselves from the human trafficking of 19 men to Russia. “…our spokesperson… got a call…a threatening call…And also, the people on the ground were threatened when they wanted to go to that picket. They were blocked. We understand there were two GTIs in the vicinity and also X3s that were running around making sure that people do not go to the Legislature to picket.” While the trafficked men are now back in Russia from the Ukraine war zone, their return is being delayed by a ransom demand by an agent involved in the operation. “The last information we got was 14 million, but I was told last week that…it's more than 14 million. So that's where the problem is now.” Khumalo also slams the violent conduct of MK members in the KZN Legislature, and the “stupidity” of Duduzile Zuma resigning from Parliament allegedly with the ambition of becoming the Premier of KZN. He hails the news that current Premier Thami Ntuli has endorsed Provincial Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi for a second term. “We need a man like him… to have that strong hand on the thugs.”
Tomorrow, The National Freedom Party (NFP) plans to formally announce its withdrawal from the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government of Unity. In his reaction, the Democratic Alliance's (DA's) leader in the province, Francois Rodgers, tells Chris Steyn: “…if the NFP are all about service delivery…and building a province, why would they take this particular approach? There seems to be something more sinister behind it… We rather see a grabbing of power.” Should the NFP now form a coalition with former President Jacob Zuma's MKP and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), they would have 40 seats and cause a hung legislature. “So if the MKP and the EFF and the NFP decided they weren't going to support budgets or anything, you wouldn't be able to pass budgets. And ultimately…you'd get to a point where they'd have to have…fresh elections…” In a bid to prevent this, the DA is currently engaging with “all of our existing partners”, the African National Congress (ANC), the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), as well as the NFP. As for the rumour that Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla resigned as an MP because she covets a starring role in KZN, Rodgers says: “…the MK party is a bit of an Nkandla Stokvel that looks after family members. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was the ultimate goal… we will do everything in our power as the Democratic Alliance to ensure that the fiscus is protected from any further looting as we've seen in the past by Jacob Zuma."

In a day of violence and high drama, former President Jacob Zuma's MKP failed to gain control of KZN. In this interview with Chris Steyn, Democratic Alliance (DA) Provincial Leader Francois Rodgers describes the scene after a Motion of No Confidence against Premier Thami Ntuli was defeated. “I think the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the broader public at large can now see what to expect under an MKP government…It was purely to gain power, to gain access into the government with no...clear direction whatsoever….When we'd done the voting and the Speaker had then closed the sitting down, she was hit in the face by an MKP member of the Provincial Legislature. The Secretary of the Provincial Legislature was also pushed around.…It was shocking and quite frankly nauseating.” Earlier the Speaker had to suspend the sitting because MKP became disruptive after the Speaker ruled against a secret ballot. “…she covered all her bases, but MK, like a spoiled child, just wouldn't accept it.” As for Zuma's presence in the chamber, Rodgers remarks: “Clearly, he must have been quite happy with the way his commanders behaved. Because if I was the leader of a party and I was in a legislature, and that's how my party members were behaving, I'd make sure they get a message to sit down and behave and take part in what should be a democratic process.”
In his latest interview with BizNews, Jabulani Khumalo, the real founder of MKP, tells Chris Steyn that there could be more to the alleged human trafficking of South Africans to Russia. “This one for me is a coup. These people were sent to be trained so that when they come back, they can have a coup against our government.” Khumalo is speaking out following the resignation of former President Jacob Zuma's daughter, Duduzile, following claims that she was the mastermind behind the “trafficking” of 17 South Africans. However, Khumalo says: "...it will never happen that Duduzile will do anything without…her father giving her instructions or coaching her what to do…" He warns: "They think they are the government themselves. They failed us as MK to get the two-third majority to govern the country. Now they want to govern in a very wrong way. We need to stop this woman…If the government doesn't stop them, then the petition must be done and people must start rioting against her." Giving an update on his legal battles to reclaim the party from Zuma, Khumalo says “…we are still waiting for a (new) court date…. The unfortunate part is that I am getting some threats now that January I won't see because of this case.” Meanwhile, Khumalo expresses concern that party funds are allegedly being used for personal spending by Zuma and his daughter. "Today MK is making millions and they're taking those millions for themselves....MK always has no money because when the money comes in, they just take it as if it's their tuck shop. "

With a critical round of by-elections coming up next week, the African National Congress (ANC) has announced that all candidates for 2026 Local Government Elections will have to undergo criminal record and qualifications vetting, submit interest declarations, and consent to lifestyle audits. This is lauded by Elections Analyst Wayne Sussman on the latest edition of the Electoral Roadshow with Chris Steyn. Sussens gives in-depth previews of the most important upcoming by-elections, including the straight two-horse race between the Democratice Alliance (DA) and the ANC in City of Joburg Ward 90 where President Cyril Ramaphosa lives; the turbulence amid which MKP has to contest Mandeni where Umkhonto we Sizwe won over 70% of the vote in 2024 in the historic ANC stronghold; Kouga where the DA ward councillor walked over to the Patriotic Alliance; and Hantam where the local councillor was assassinated. As for the possible date of next year's Local Government elections, Sussman reveals that he is hearing from reliable sources that it will either be held on 4th or the 11th of November.

In the latest edition of Electoral Road Show with Analyst Wayne Sussman, he talks to Chris Steyn about the group of high-profile defectors that have just abandoned the African National Congress (ANC) for the Democratic Alliance (ANC) in the Western Cape, with the Western Cape's “Fikile Mbalula”, ANC Provincial Secretary Neville Delport, leading the pack. Sussman dissects the leadership crisis at former President Jacob Zuma's MKP with Chief Whip Colleen Makhubele out-and-in and former “Weekend Special” Finance Minister Des van Rooyen in-and-not as well as the suspension of former Judge John Hlope. Sussman further analyses the results of last night's by-elections, and speaks about his recent engagement with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as it targets next November (2026) for critical elections.
The battle to reclaim MKP from former President Jacob Zuma is far from over. In this interview, the real founder of MKP, Jabulani Khumalo, gives Chris Steyn an update on his long legal battle to reclaim the party and rescue it from “thuggery” . “People are trying to steal this country through fraud. We have so many cartels, but MK has got a cartel also now. Because this cartel that is taking over MK is a cartel.” He charges that South Africa “is in this mess because our leaders are being run by these cartels. They are led by the dogs. People who use dark money, black money to use our leaders. We can't allow that.” Khumalo hails generals Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Fannie Masemola and Dumisani Khumalo “for helping us to open our eyes even more… I remember General Mkhwanazi was saying, I can't sit with a thug in the office. I understand what he was saying because really, even myself, I wouldn't want to sit with a thug.”
If the Democratic Alliance (DA) icon Helen Zille is elected Mayor of Jo'burg, she will have to overcome huge obstacles to achieve the turn-around promised. In this interivew with BizNews, independent commentator Jonathan Katzenellenbogen says if the DA gets the projected 35% in the local elections, it would have to form a coalition with probably the African National Congress (ANC) that is projected to get 23%. If Zille then starts cutting staff "dramatically", the ANC could turn to the “fellow comrade parties” like the Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) and MKP. “And the ANC can very easily form a Doomsday Coalition with them…” Katzenellenbogen warns that it's going to be “a very hard push” for Zille because of the ANC's “vested interests...the City of Johannesburg is a Patronage Machine". However, should Zille overcome these obstacles and the necessary massive budget is sourced, it would still take about 10 years to restore the City of Gold to its former glory. And if Zille fails to get elected, “big business will have to come in…and confront the council, confront the Mayor, confront the ANC and the Cabinet and say basically this can't continue, it's gone too far. We have got to come and play a role, we'll set up this body and we'll basically run the city. We will make sure that these departments run well….”
The new party of former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President and MKP SG Floyd Shivambu is wooing the vast pool of unregistered South African voters for the support it would need to get the Afrika Mayibuye Movement (MAYIBUYE) into government. In this interview with BizNews, the party's Head of Political Education, Tumelo Mlangeni says: “Combined, the population that is not voting could be able to bring us to government…our primary focus is really not the EFF and the MKP. As mentioned, they are quite small organisations. Our focus is also not the ANC. The ANC is dying a natural death.” Meanwhile, MAYIBUYE has set down strict guidelines for the conduct of its leaders. “We are about to roll out a major induction programme to all the structures of Afrika Mayibuye…And that induction will be guided by the Manifesto, which clearly pronounces what we expect from them….Any thought of corruption within Afrika Mayibuye, is frowned upon. Just a thought….We are bringing about a new leadership core with values that are allergic to corruption.” Mlangeni also calls for the transformation of policing. “…if a government is corrupt and if a government is criminal in nature, the enforcers of the laws that are passed by government will obviously also take advantage of the society”.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is surrounded by advisors that are “mainly inept”. So says political commentator Phapano Phasha. She says he has “juniorised” his office with people “who cannot lead”. Meanwhile, the President is also “highly embedded” in the narrative surrounding allegations of police capture made by General “Lucky” Mkhwanazi. Phasha predicts that “whoever has the money will likely win the ANC conference and become the next ANC president”. In this factional race, SG Fikile Mbalula “has everything intact because he's got external people who support him. He is in charge of branches. But he's the weakest of them all.” Commenting on former President Jacob Zuma's threat of further legal action and political mobilisation unless the President resigns by Friday, Phasha says his MKP is on a collision course. “It's like the Titanic… that kind of organisation, it will eventually break. But for now, I think it's a necessary irritation because what we're having is we're having a GNU and this GNU is unfortunately not able to hold the ANC accountable.” Meanwhile, she warns that the Democratic Alliance (DA) is likely to be punished in the next election. “I had hoped that the NEC would agree to kick off the DA out of the GNU because what you would then have is a more robust Democratic Alliance.” She also blasts Gayton McKenzie's Patriotic Alliance (PA) as a party that would not be in Parliament in a “seasoned democracy”. “But unfortunately, this is where we are. Our politics are mediocre. We are led by the worst in society. Professionals, academics and business people, the patriotic intelligentsia has taken a backseat and allowed this type of people to lead our country.”

There's a saying that goes, “All regulations are written in blood.” And it's true. If given the opportunity, companies will cut corners and find loopholes to make their jobs easier or cheaper or skirt some kind of oversight. And when it all goes wrong, when there's blood on their hands, when there's a dozen microphones in their face, the people in charge always look contrite. And that's infuriating, isn't it? The mundanity of that kind of evil. They wanted to save a couple of bucks and now people are dead and hurt and they're sorry. Today, we're talking about two cases where hundreds of people lost their lives because some bigwig at the top didn't like the idea of spending a little more money. It is the result of deeply rooted social norms that discourage emotional expression and vulnerability. The cycle begins early. When men are raised without emotional connection, they often repeat those patterns as fathers and partners.Men do want connection. Equimundo's research shows that when given the tools and support, men are eager to show up differently.Change is possible.
