Der geplante Containerhafen von Swinemünde in der Woiwodschaft Westpommern gilt als Großprojekt und soll bis 2030 in Betrieb gehen. Geplant ist die künstliche Halbinsel "Kap Pommern" mit 186 Hektar Fläche neben dem LNG-Terminal bei Wollin. Sie soll über eine neue, 70 Kilometer lange und 17,5 Meter tiefe Fahrrinne erreichbar sein. Die Gemeinde Heringsdorf und die Bürgerinitiative „Lebensraum Vorpommern“ äußern Bedenken gegen das Projekt und befürchten langfristige Schäden für Natur, Menschen und Tourismus. Während der Bauarbeiten könnten durch Baggerarbeiten Schadstoffe, Schwermetalle und alte Munition im Bereich der Pommerschen Bucht freigesetzt werden, zudem ist zusätzlicher Lärm problematisch für den Schweinswal.
