In the main event between Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer, Nunes outclassed her opponent en route to an easy decision victory. In the co-main event featuring a bantamweight clash between Cody Garbrandt and Raphael Assuncao, the former champion looked measured and smart until he scored a vicious walkoff KO at the buzzer of round 2. The feature fight between Aljamain Sterling and Cory Sandhagen didn't last long as Sterling scored a dominant and early first-round rear naked choke submission victory. Elsewhere on the main card, Neil Magny scored a workmanlike decision over Anthony Rocco Martin and Sean O'Malley scored a first-round one-punch walkoff knockout (KO) over longtime veteran Eddie Wineland. On the preliminary portion of the card, Alex Caceres outclassed Chase Hooper, Ian Heinisch quickly dispatched Gerald Meerschart, Cody Stamann scored a hard-fought decision victory over Brian Kelleher, Herbert Burns quickly submitted Evan Dunham, Maki Pitolo TKO'd Charles Byrd and much more. The days leading up to the highly anticipated UFC 223 at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York caused a stir among die-hard fans and the entire sports world alike. Conor McGregor's suspected return to the Octagon was halted following an arrest at the site of the event for a violent incident involving multiple fighters. UFC Fight Night 117/ UFC Japan Ovince Saint Preux, ranked #6 in the UFC's Light Heavyweight Division, defeated Yushin Okami at 1:50 mark of Round 1 with another Von Flue submission. It is his third such submission of his career and only the fifth in UFC history. First performed by Jason Von Flue in January 2016, it is now being referred to as the "Von Preux." Jessica Andrade won in dominant fashion over Claudia Gadelha with a unanimous decision victory (30-26, 30-25, 30-27). Fight stats had Andrade out-striking her opponent 242-47 with 141 of those being significant strikes. Andrade came in as the #4 ranked strawweight and Gadleha was #1. New rankings have Gadelha falling to #3 and Andrade moving to #2. Bellator 183 Roy Nelson made his Bellator debut in San Jose, California, by defeating Javy Ayala by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-28).
